Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 soundtrack adds 37 bangers
One of the key elements that goes into making a classic Tony Hawk title is a great, memorable soundtrack. And while Activision's upcoming Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 will feature most of (but not all) of the classic hits from the original PlayStation releases, the new OST will also be expanded with the addition of 37 new songs.
A gamut of genres will be featured in the remaster, with heavy leanings toward the skate-friendly ska-punk sound. Names even Old Man Moyse recognises like Reel Big Fish, Sublime, The Ataris and A Tribe Called Quest will be joined by the likes of DZ Deathrays, Chick Norris and - checks notes - Viagra Boys. Back in my day, etc.
You can check out a select cut of the complete soundtrack right here on Spotify. I mean, we're all just going to be playing "Superman" by Goldfinger on a loop anyway, right?
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 launches September 4 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Epic Games Store.

MGSV Players Finally Achieve World Peace on PS3 By Disarming All Nukes
Metal Gear Solid V‘s been out for a good few years now, and players have also known for a while that the game featured a secret cutscene that could only be triggered if every single nuke had been disarmed. This was a monumental task, especially since it required the entire player base to work together to disarm them, not even considering the fact that players can basically develop nukes whenever they wanted.
However, as the PS3 player base has dwindled, getting the cutscene through legitimate means became possible.
Earlier this week, MGSV players on PS3 actually managed to disarm all the nukes, and the cutscene finally triggered. We’ve seen the cutscene before, of course, but that was through leaks and hacks. And while the cutscene certainly doesn’t make up for the lackluster ending of the main game, it’s still a grand achievement for the player base in general.
Metal Gear Solid V is now available on consoles and PC.

Have you played… Space Run?
has got to be one of the least tower defence-y tower defence games in my Steam library. It has more in common with FTL than with most other games in its genre: your aim as Captain (and certified space-postman) Buck Mann is to fly your ship as quickly as possible from collection point to delivery point, micro-managing your resources and defences in real-time to deal with the various threats that emerge during your journey. No matter the cargo – crates, nuclear fuel, or passengers – Buck Mann offers the speediest journey through what I can only assume must be the most dangerous possible routes in the galaxy. (more…)

One Of The Leaked Nintendo Games Is A...Hockey RPG
In the dying days of the Nintendo Entertainment System, well into the early 1990s, Taito had plans to bring arcade game Hit The Ice to the console with some pretty substantial additions. It never made it, but that wasn’t for lack of effort; the game was actually completed, just never released.

This Persona 5, FFXIV, and NieR: Automata Lo-Fi Chill Mix Is Perfect for Studying/Relaxing To
Music producer and YouTuber Alex Moukala has spent a good amount of time breaking down iconic video game music tracks and explaining why they’re good, and he’s also spent a fair amount of time producing unique remixes of popular tracks. This time, he’s back with an 11-minute long mix that draws from Persona 5, Final Fantasy XIV, and NieR: Automata.
The twist? The tracks have all been redone to suit the chill lo-fi aesthetic that’s really surged in popularity over the past few years. The result? It sounds really good.
All three games are known for having strong soundtracks, and Moukala’s managed to bring them all together in a sonically cohesive way. The tracks include Beneath the Mask from Persona 5, Amaurot ~ Mortal Instants from Final Fantasy XIV, as well as Amusement Park and City Ruins ~ Rays of Light from NieR: Automata.
Titled Beneath Amaurot, it’s clear that Amaurot is meant to be the centerpiece of this mix. This track comes from a major turning point in the FFXIV: Shadowbringers storyline, and is also one of, if not the most striking track in the entire collection.
You can check out the rest of Moukala’s music here.
Cloud Gardens Is a Chill Game About Nature Reclaiming the Land, In Early Access this Year
As the world continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, video games continue to be one of our main sources of distraction. And Cloud Gardens definitely looks like it could be a great, relaxing distraction for those who are still staying home under lockdown or quarantine.
Developed by Noio, Cloud Gardens is a simulation game where you can recreate dioramas and build unique structures for nature to reclaim. There’s a sandbox mode where you can simply create with no restrictions and no goals, as well as a story mode where you have to strike a balance between nature and man-made structures.
“In Cloud Gardens players must harness the power of nature to overgrow lo-fi scenes of urban decay and manufactured landscapes. By planting seeds in the right places, they’re able to create small overgrown dioramas of brutalism and beauty, salvaging and repurposing hundreds of discarded objects to create unique structures for nature to reclaim.”
Cloud Gardens doesn’t have a set release date just yet, but it’s scheduled to launch in early access later this year.

Metal Gear Solid V Players Finally Destroyed Every Nuke In The PS3 Version, Triggering A Secret Cutscene
When Metal Gear Solid V was released, tucked away in the code was a cutscene designed to only play once every nuke in the game had been found and destroyed. Earlier today, almost five years later, that cutscene was triggered for anyone left playing on PlayStation 3.
Fantasy Strike Review
One of the questions I’m sometimes asked by friends is what the best entry-level fighting game is for someone who is new to the genre, but who also doesn’t want to spend hours in a training mode or immediately get completely blown up when they play online. My answer is generally, “such a game doesn’t exist, but the closest you’ll get is probably Fantasy Strike.”
Fantasy Strike is a fun, easy to play fighting game with simple controls, tight and strategic fighting mechanics, a well rounded cast of 12 unique fighters, and some wonderful innovations in the genre that I wish other, bigger franchises would take note of. Visually, it’s very bland and lacks its own unique personality, but if you look beyond that, you’ll find one of the most daringly different fighting games of the last decade – not to mention it’s free-to-play, has great netcode, and full crossplay support between PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

Breaking the Rules
Fantasy Strike throws the basic rules behind most fighting games out the window, instead writing its own with the goal of making things as intuitive and accessible as a traditional fighting game can possibly be. You can’t crouch, which eliminates all high/low mix-ups; the life bars are broken up into segmented chunks of HP, so you always have a clear idea of how many more hits are needed to win or lose; your super meter fills up automatically; there are no complicated input commands; you can counter throws by just standing completely still. The list goes on and on, resulting in a very distinct flavor of a familiar whole.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Is Coming To Steam
Have you been waiting for Phantasy Star Online 2 to come to Steam? Well, the wait is just about over. On August 5, you can play on Steam, complete with Steam Achievements and remote play. While PSO2 has been available on PC for some time, there's nothing quite like playing on Steam and discovering that dozens of your friends that you haven't spoken to since a Dota 2 game went wrong back in 2016 are also playing.
Maybe it's time to play that Summoner you've always thought about making. Or maybe a Bouncer. Perhaps you don't even care what class you are playing and just long to whittle the hours away at the casino, they have some fun games in there. Or maybe you're waiting for Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. I don't know! Whatever your deal is, the game's Steam launch syncs up with the big Episode 4 drop, so there will be lots to do.

Kingdom dev's Cloud Gardens is a chill game about growing plants to beautify urban decay
Kingdom: New Lands developer Noio has unveiled Cloud Gardens, a "chill game" about cultivating plants and helping nature take root across gorgeous little dioramas of urban decay.
"By planting seeds in the right places," explains the developer over on Cloud Gardens' newly launched Steam page, players are able to "create small overgrown dioramas of brutalism and beauty, salvaging and repurposing hundreds of discarded objects to create unique structures for nature to reclaim."
Noio calls its latest endeavour an "experimental project, somewhere on the line between a game and an interactive toy", and says Cloud Gardens will launch with two distinct modes. There's a relaxing, goal-free sandbox mode, enabling players to idly craft their own striking dioramas, and a campaign of sorts, ultimately set to be spread across six chapters.

Shing Arrives On August 28
Side-scrolling ninja beat-em-up Shing has a release date, and it's not far away. On August 28, the speedy warriors arrive on PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC.
Like all those great quarter-munching arcade brawlers before it, Shing features co-op play (local and online) for up to 4 players. A complex combat system allows you to mix and match moves and weaponry, adding a layer to all the standard punching, kicking, and grabbing that we've done so many times in Golden Axe,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time, and Final Fight.
The developers have released a video showcasing some of the game's features as a brawler, commenting on the genre's past - and future. Check it out below!

The Pathetic Magikarp to Be Featured in Pokemon GO August Community Day
Well, that was pretty unexpected. Following the success that was Pokemon GO Fest 2020, fans of the game now have a day full of Magikarp to look forward to. This will be the first time since Community Days started that we will have three months in a row featuring Pokemon from the Kanto region.
As is customary with Community Day announcements, we don’t have a ton of information about what the event will be like. But if you’ve played during Community Day once, then there’s not much that can surprise you in terms of bonuses or features that will be going on during the event.
Since Pokemon GO is still focused on social distancing, Incense will last for a full three hours instead of the typical one (which is already boosted from the typical 30 mins). That means you’ll only need to use two Incense to cover the whole six-hour-long event.
On top of that, you’re also going to be able to get triple stardust for every Pokemon you catch during the event time on August 8. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Community Day without Magikarp’s evolved form learning a brand-new move that it couldn’t use before.
Gyarados will be able to learn Aqua Tail during Magikarp Community Day as long as you evolve into it during the event time or up to an hour after. And as Reddit user Taban54 explains, Aqua tail will essentially be useless for raids, but it’ll make Gyarados better in every league.
Still, that doesn’t mean Gyarados will shoot up the tier list. All we can do is wait and see how Aqua Tail impacts the real world performance of Gyarados in the GO Battle League following Magikarp Community Day.

New Gameplay Today – Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is refreshingly simple. As you play through several rounds of simple, Mario Party-style minigames, don't lose. Every round, more players are cut from the initial wave of 60 players, ultimately leading to a sole guy being named the winner. In today's NGT, Dan, Alex, and I talk about what makes Mediatonic's upcoming title special.
Don't expect too much brain-busting action; the whole point of Fall Guys is that it's easy to suss out what's going on. The trick is to leap, grab, and maneuver your way to victory, amid a cluster of like-minded competitors.
If you like what you see, you don't have long to wait. Fall Guys is coming to PS4 and PC on August 4. Better still, it's part of the PlayStation Plus program, so you'll be able to download it at no cost in August if you're a subscriber.
