Her Story and Telling Lies director Sam Barlow has announced a new game, and this one is all about a mysterious disappearing film star.

Titled Immortality, the game follows the story of Marissa Marcel, an actress who "made three movies" that were never actually released. Oh, and she vanished without a trace, of course.

As revealed at the Xbox and Bethesda E3 showcase this weekend, Rare's multiplayer open world pirate 'em up Sea Of Thieves is about to have 100% more Jack Sparrow than it previously did. Sea Of Thieves: A Pirate's Life is a new Pirates Of The Caribbean-themed story campaign featuring five Tall Tales, and it's coming free to the game on June 22nd. Why, that's quite soon!

And look, I'm not saying that the Pirates Of The Caribbean films do not form a billion dollar franchise, but when you tell me that Sea Of Thieves is getting the "Why is the rum gone?" man, I know what sort of feels like the better get for whom.

Tinykin may be the closest thing we get to a Pikmin 4 at this year's E3, but that's no bad thing.

This dinky puzzle platformer has you controlling a miniature alien astronaut as he explores our world. He's aided in his travels by a swarm of mini creatures, named tinykin.

Sound familiar? While clearly inspired by Nintendo's Pikmin, what impressed me here was how snappy and fluid the movement and exploration looks, with tinykin used to create ladders or skate around.

Thinking about Minute of Islands, I'm at a crossroads with myself. This is the kind of game I'd usually enjoy, but when it comes down to it, I'm not sure I did. Instead, I find that a mere day after playing, it's already starting to slip my mind.

Minute of Island's first impression certainly is striking, because it's altogether more gloomy than what you'd expect based on its art style. As the narrator tells it, as a young woman named Mo, you wake up one morning to silence where there really should be noise - the noise of machines humming underground, powering the fans that keep the islands free of lethally toxic spores.

The first view you get of what's powering the fan is a special moment, as you come face to face with a hulking giant, living underground, his only purpose seemingly that of running a crank like a hamster in a wheel. But the giant, one of a group of brothers, has tired, causing a toxic chain reaction of machine failures. Mo's task as bearer of the omni switch, a sort of part mechanical, part magical admin master key, is to reroute emergency power to a number of different fans across her small archipelago and thus restore order.

After a couple of fairly lackluster E3 presentations, the Microsoft and Bethesda livestream felt like a much-needed breath of fresh air. There was no shortage of exciting game announcements and updates, and we even got to see a few Xbox exclusives mixed up in there as well.

Here’s a list of every Xbox exclusive game announced at E3 2021. Do note that this list only contains Xbox console exclusives that were announced during the presentation, so games like Halo and Twelve Minutes won’t be included.

Shredders

We don’t get many games like SSX anymore, but Ubisoft’s Steep from a few years back proved that there was still a market for a niche genre like this one. Enter Shredders, a new snowboarding game that lets you explore a huge mountain range while discovering your own boarding style.

We didn’t get all that much info about the game during the presentation, but I imagine it’ll have similar features to other games in its genre, such as being able to pull off various tricks to score points, and board and rider customization. There’s no set release date, but the official website seems to be hinting towards a December 2021 release window.

Ever since Modern Storyteller revealed that The Forgotten City, the award-winning Skyrim mod, would be remade into a standalone title back in 2018, I’ve been very interested in the game’s progress.

Like many others, I’ve always been a huge fan of Skyrim, as its vast world, characters, and storytelling still stands as some of the best in gaming even a decade later. And even though I never dived into its deep modding community, I was still aware of how popular The Forgotten City mod was, as it boasted a unique and exciting story that was part Groundhog Day, part Clue.

Still, the question remains: is this game worthy of being anything more than a mod? Thankfully, after playing a few hours of a preview build of The Forgotten City, I can safely say that it is. Not only that, but I also feel confident in stating that this game is not, in fact, Skyrim, and that is by no means a bad thing.

The Forgotten City opens in the modern-day, with your character being sent into a mysterious Roman ruin littered with golden statues to find a missing man. It isn’t long before you find him, though you learn he has become a victim of being turned into one of those statues, as you find out via his final letter.

Alongside his last words, it is also revealed that the only way to escape this place is to venture through a portal and try to stop something known as The Golden Rule from occurring here 2,000 years in the past. With no other choice but to push forward, your character is transported into this time period to complete this task.

I've not yet watched the trailer for Wizard With A Gun, announced during last night's Devolver Digital stream at E3. But I bet you my entire house I can tell you what's in it. If I guess wrong, I'll email you my house. If I guess right, you have to read the rest of this post. Deal? Sorry, too slow. Reading the word "deal" counted as agreeing to the deal, I'm afraid, so let's play.

I'm guessing the trailer will feature a Wizard, who possesses a gun. Here's the trailer. Let's see if I am correct, or if I have ruined my family's life by promising to email their house to loads of strangers.

Today CyberConnect2 finally announced the release date of its upcoming JRPG Fuga: Melodies of Steel.

The game, which was revealed quite a long while ago, will launch on S5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on July 29, 2021.

The standard edition will cost $39.99, while the Deluxe Edition will cost $59.99. Both will be exclusively digital.

While CyberConnect 2 is perhaps better known for the games it created for other publishers like Dragon Ball Z Kakaroth, the .Hack series, and the upcoming Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles, Fuga: Melodies of Steel will be self-published.

Below you can enjoy a trailer, which also shows the content of the Deluxe Edition, and two videos showing the story and an explanation about the game. Those two videos are in Japanese but you can activate English subtitles with the “cc” button.

Today Aniplex released another new trailer of Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hinokami Keppu Tan or Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles, as it’s known in English.

The trailer introduces more characters from Demon Slayer Academy (Kimetsu Gakuen) spin off, Shinobu Kocho, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Inosuke Hashibira.

Unfortunately, the original trailer is region-locked to Japan, but you can check out a reuploaded version below alongside a few screenshots and art from the press release.

Today saw one of E3 2021’s bigger press events take place in the form of a combined showcase for Microsoft Xbox and Bethesda Game Studios. You can check out this three-minute video for just the highlights from the over 80-minute-long event.

Today, during the Future Games Show, an announcement trailer for the game Immortality from famed developer Sam Barlow and studio Half Mermaid. The story of Immortality focuses on the life and disappearance of the fictional actor, Marissa Marcel.

In the trailer, we learn that Marcel made three movies — Ambrosio, Minsky, and Two of Everything — that were never released because she went missing.

Little else was revealed about Immortality gameplay-wise, but the trailer revealed that Sam Barlow (Her Story, Telling Lies) will be directing this game and other big names will be joining him on the project. Alan Scott (The Queen’s Gambit), Amelia Gray (Mr. Robot), and Barry Gifford (Lost Highway) will be contributing to the story with their stellar writing.

The trailer ends with a chilling shot of the posters for the films Marcel created going up in flames while the title of the game shows up in the foreground one letter at a time.

We currently don’t know what platforms Immortality is coming to, but the trailer confirmed that the game is currently slated for a 2022 release. You can check out the official trailer for Immortality down below.

Puzzle-platformer Minute Of Islands sort of feels like a fairytale. Like a lot of stories for kids, the narration is simple, almost sing-song and poetic in tone. It tells the story of Mo, a self-taught engineer who lives mostly underground, tending to the bio-mechanical engines operated by four giants - brothers, in fact. The brothers hand-crank the machines to filter and purify the air, which would otherwise become filled with poisonous fungal spores.

When the engines break down one day, Mo must brave the surface, checking on her family and growing increasingly paranoid and bitter at her unappreciated sacrifice as she breathes in the spores. But the actual events, and the things you see as you jump and climb around the archipelago Mo lives on, present a jarring contrast to the narration. The narrator points out a dead whale. She does not describe the way the whales intenstines are spilling onto the beach, the bones of its spine are exposed, or how its eyes have been eaten by mangy, one-legged seagulls.

The Future Games Show E3 stream just gave us our very first look at a handmade narrative game called Harold Halibut. The game is being developed and published by Slow Bros. There’s still some work to be done, so no concrete release date was given. But it’ll be launching “soonish” on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Harold Halibut takes place in a city-sized spaceship that left Earth 250 years ago, but is now stuck underwater on an alien world. Players take on the role of a lab assistant named Harold who is constantly looking for a way to escape this current situation.

Also, that part about the game being handmade is pretty literal, as the clay-looking in-game models were actual created by hand then 3D scanned to put them in the game.

Happy Game, an indie title from Amanita Design, has received a disturbing new trailer which teases the kind of disturbing settings players will explore.

Streamed during the Future Games Show E3 2021 livestream held on June 13, the trailer shows off a number of unnerving and grisly environments. Some are emotionally distressing, while others are filled with just enough gore to keep the viewer from ever getting entirely comfortable.

One environ is filled with people who have smiley-face masks stuck on their heads. Another has cutesy animals and imagery impaled on sharp objects with blood spilling out of them, and yet another has an otherworldly abomination that lures passerby in with cute and comforting objects.

Through all of this, a simple black and white-colored character wanders around, seemingly oblivious to the horrifying sights all around them. They continue to explore even after they’re bashed, smashed, and dragged into even worse terrors over and over again, usually with a smile on their face. How they got there, and why they’re being subjected to such terrifying experiences, is unknown.

It’s a unique display of what the game has to offer by any metric, and fans of twisted indie titles will probably find something to look forward to in its imagery. The full teaser trailer can be found down below.

Today, during the Future Games Show, a new gameplay trailer for Sonic Colors Ultimate was shown off featuring Act 2 of the Tropical Resort level. It was a short level but it showed off some of the basic controls and powers in the game.

The trailer showed a combination of the 2D and 3D sections of the level as well as using Wisps to sprint through parts of the stage and blast through enemies all in the blink of an eye. The specific Color Power used during the trailer was the Cyan Laser.

Throughout the level, you can see Eggman logos plastered across walls and you can occasionally hear him over the loudspeaker. We never see the mustached villain, but his presence is felt throughout this gameplay clip.

The clip ends with Sonic hitting the end of the level and doing a stylish slow-motion backflip which is pretty standard for the showy blue hedgehog.

Sonic Colors Ultimate is coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch on September 7 of this year. You can check out the official Sonic Colors Ultimate Tropical Resort Act 2 trailer down below.

The Future Games Show E3 stream just provided us with a quick update on the World War II shooter Hell Let Loose. The founder of developer Black Matter, Maximilian Rea, showed up to announce that the game will be coming out of Steam Early Access on July 27. It’ll also be fully launching on PS5, Xbox Series X|S later this year.

The game features battles that include over 100 players as they use tanks, infantry, artillery, and more to win the fight against one another.

Today, during the Future Games Show, Hashbane Limited released the official announcement trailer for their dinosaur-filled shooter, Instinction. The game was previously teased briefly back in February, but today was the first time that extensive in-game footage was officially revealed to the public.

The entire trailer had a very dark and ominous tone to it along with a short horror sequence of a dinosaur sneaking around a dark room. And at the end of the trailer, we see a character hiding from a large carnivorous dinosaur as it lets out a terrifying roar.

There aren’t a ton of details about the gameplay packed into the trailer, but so far it looks like it’ll be a nerve-wracking game with deadly dinos around every corner.

Instinction is currently slated for release in 2022. Unfortunately, it was not revealed which platforms that the game will be coming to, but we’ll certainly be reporting on that as soon as the information becomes available. You can check out the official trailer for Instinction down below.

Today Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs developer Pixelated Milk revealed its new game Sacrifire, inspired by classic JRPG.

The game just hit Kickstarter with a fairly modest €82,000 goal, so if you want to back it, this is your chance.

The game is coming for PC via Steam (a listing is already up) PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch in 2022.

 Interesting, acclaimed composer Motoi Sakuraba (Tales of Arise, Star Ocean series, Valkyrie Profile series, and many more) will help creating the soundtrack.

If you have a Pikmin 4-shaped hole in your heart, you may be interested in this upcoming puzzle platformer coming in 2022. It’s called Tinykin, and it’s incredibly adorable.

You play as a boy named Milo from the year 2748 who has rediscovered Earth. When he lands on the planet, he realizes he’s as small as a penny there, and he’s all alone. To make things more interesting, it’s in the 90s on Earth.

You’ll help Milo catch little creatures called Tinykin, each with special abilities to allow you to climb higher, break down doors, and solve any problem you encounter. Since Milo is so tiny, a regular house has things like a stadium in the bathtub, a nightclub inside the couch, and a casino under the bed.

Using the Tinykin and their powers will help bring Milo back to his home planet and back to normal size.

Tinykin is developed by SplashTeam, Ex-Ubisoft creatives with experience on the Rayman and Rabbids games. It will release in 2022, and it’s currently available to preorder on Steam with console releases TBA.

While we can't (Paladin) Danse if we want to because we left that friend behind, we can at least enjoy the fact that the Brotherhood of Steel has made the world of Fallout 76 much more interesting and it looks like that story is heading towards an epic conclusion. Bethesda shared an extensive new look at Steel Reign, which allows players to decide the fate of the Brotherhood, during the Xbox E3 2021 showcase and as far as narrative conclusions go, this looks pretty interesting. 

Knight Shin and Paladin Rahmani have some issues to deal with, to put it lightly, and that's what we will see with the upcoming update called Steel Reign. Players can basically decide the fate of the Brotherhood with the upcoming questline while uncovering the mystery of where all of the Super Mutants have suddenly disappeared to. 

As with any major update, Steel Reign will include new gear for players to earn, new locations for survivors to conquer, and new enemies to face. For those paying attention to the scoreboard for season 5, there will be even more loot drops there, as well. 

The PC Gaming Show live stream just gave us a quick look at a new action RPG called Soulstice. The game is being developed by Reply Game Studios and published by Modus Games, and it’ll be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2022.

Soulstice is a coming-of-age story set in a fantasy city of Ilden that contains many mysteries, dangerous enemies, and more than a few magical elements. Players must take control of two sisters, Briar and Lute, simultaneously as Briar is all about melee combat while Lute uses otherworldly abilities.

Square Enix today announced the next game from Eidos Montreal, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. And the publisher spent a long time (maybe too long...) during its E3 event showing off footage that featured raw gameplay, cinematic cutscenes, dialogue, and much more.

Good news space cadets, Obsidian Entertainment is working on a new The Outer Worlds. The original Outer Worlds released in 2019, and it was a special mix of Mass Effect and Fallout. We loved it, and have been hoping that Obsidian was working on a sequel. We got our wish. During Microsoft’s E3 2021 presentation the publisher announced that a new The Outer Worlds is headed to Xbox consoles and PC … sometime in the future. Look, there isn’t a date yet, and it doesn’t look like there is a lot of game yet either. This was just an announcement.

The original Outer Worlds was set in an alternate future in a solar system called Halcyon. You were a colonist who traveled to the system in cryofreeze on a ship called the Hope. You were looking to build a better life for yourself, but discovered that corporations were exploiting the local workforce. Obsidian packed that original title full of humorous moments and absurd world-building. The 2019 release was also fairly short for a modern RPG. We don’t know if the sequel will be more expansive, but if the revel trailer is any indication - then we can expect the new game to look better, as the reveal was very eye-catching.

I've longed for a new SSX snowboarding game for years, and recently the closest thing I've had to look forward to is Riders Republic. Shredders, shown during tonight's Microsoft conference, might take its place, though. For one, its a dedicated snowboarding game.
