Age of Empires 4 releases 28th October, 2021 - here's a shiny new gameplay trailer that came with the announcement during Xbox's E3 conference.

The trailer itself showed off some naval battles, all kinds of horse, camel and elephant cavalry, and some notable historical figures, like Joan of Arc.

There was also plenty of siege and town-based action, and lots of people in armour running at each other on nice grassy hills, which is exactly what we want.

In a humorous CGI trailer, developer Obsidian cheekily acknowledged there was not much else to show of the game as yet, and no word on a release window. Still, it's nice to know its coming.

"New solar system, new crew, same Outer Worlds," the trailer's description reads. "The Outer Worlds 2 is coming... and when that day is closer we will show you more... but until then enjoy this."

A Plague Tale: Requiem Looks Like the Epic Sequel Fans Have Been Hoping For

2 years 11 months ago

A Plague Tale: Innocence was one of 2019’s standout games, acclaimed for its superb storytelling and impressive graphical fidelity despite the humble size of the development team at Asobo Studio, so news of a sequel during today’s Xbox & Bethesda E3 2021 showcase is sure to have fans in a jubilant mood. Particularly so because A Plague Tale: Requiem looks utterly epic, promising to deliver a grander and more ambitious adventure than its predecessor.

As you’ll see in the trailer below, A Plague Tale: Requiem seems as though we’ll see an older Beatrice and Hugo in the next chapter of their story to battle the evil forces attempting to unleash Hugo’s power to gain political control over the region. And yes, there are lots of rats.

A Plague Tale: Requiem will launch in 2022, according to today’s trailer, and it will be available via Xbox Game Pass. It is not a console exclusive, and so it should be available on PlayStation hardware as well as Xbox and PC.

A Plague Tale: Requiem Announced For 2022

2 years 11 months ago

A Plague Tale: Innocence’s gripping narrative made it one of the standout hidden gems of 2019, and it’s getting a sequel next year. Today’s Microsoft showcase revealed a cinematic trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem that sets the table for another dark journey for the de Rune siblings.

The cinematic trailer doesn’t give too much away, but we hear protagonist Amicia de Rune conversing with an unknown man about her brother, Hugo, and how to put an end the supernatural rat scourge that plagued our heroes in the first game. Fans will remember that Hugo is cursed with dark magic directly connected to the plague. Will Amicia have to stop her own brother, who she says she’d “protect with her life?" We’re excited (though perhaps a bit apprehensive) to find out. Also of note: Amicia has a crossbow now, suggesting combat might be more involved compared to the largely stealth-focused gameplay of the previous game.

Hades Escapes Onto Xbox Game Pass This Summer

2 years 11 months ago

Almost a year after its initial release, Hades was included in this year’s Xbox E3 show with the announcement it is coming to Xbox consoles on August 13. The standout action rogue-lite from last year was also announced to be coming to Game Pass upon release.

Hades follows Zagreus, the son of the titular ruler who is trying to get out of his hellish home. He fights Greek-inspired gods and monsters wielding a variety of weapons along the way. If he fails, Zagreus finds himself back at home where he can build bonds with the characters he meets on his journey out of the underworld.

There wasn’t anything new content-wise in the trailer, which displayed a variety of awards it received since release. Hades was a game we also liked a lot! Check out why it ended up all the way at number two on Game Informer’s Game of the Year list for 2020, and here is our own Matt Miller’s review to get a critical breakdown of the game.

If you want more of E3’s big announcements and reveals, we have you covered. Take a look at our E3 hub full of stories from the show.

Replaced Coming in 2022 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, & PC

2 years 11 months ago

Today, Sad Cat Studios unveiled their newest game, a sleek 16-bit game known as Replaced. In the trailer below, you can see the game’s unique aesthetic and world, which combines sci-fi with action platforming to make for an interesting adventure.

In the trailer, we can see plenty of interesting mechanics that are shown off alongside the platforming, including plenty of different enemies to deal with, ranging from regular bums to security guards with shields.

The developers detailed the game with the following description:

REPLACED is a 2.5D sci-fi retro-futuristic action platformer where you play as R.E.A.C.H. – an artificial intelligence trapped in a human body against its own will. Explore the world, push your body’s limits in intense combat and learn what it’s like to be a living being.

REPLACED combines cinematic platforming, pixel art and free-flow action combat with a deep, engaging dystopian story set in an alternative 1980’s.

Replaced Offers Atmospheric Futuristic Action

2 years 11 months ago

Today’s Xbox Showcase gave us a look at Replaced, from Sad Cat Studios. Replaced is billed as a “cinematic retro-futuristic action-thriller set in a dystopian version of the '80s USA.” Whew! That’s a mouthful, but it gives us at least some sense of what we can expect out of the project, which offered up some great animation and art in today’s trailer.

Players control an A.I. that has been placed inside of a human body, and follows along as that individual explores a bleak and almost post-apocalyptic world. The combat, in particular, looks to offer some really compelling twists, focusing on cool moves that you might see in a high-end action flick. We also saw the main character traversing ruined buildings in some tense platforming sequences.

Meanwhile, the art itself was especially striking, using pixel graphics to paint a potent and realistic world that seems to draw the player into the action.

Replaced appears to be the debut project from Sad Cat Studios. The development house is based in Minsk, Belarus. The studio is getting publishing help from Coatsink.

Replaced is targeting release in 2022 on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, and will show up day one on Game Pass.

Far Cry 6 Gameplay Trailer Shows Off Tons of Weapons and a Flying Car

2 years 11 months ago

The Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase stream just gave us a real good look at the many weapons that’ll be available to use in Far Cry 6. The game is being developed by Avalanche Studios, and it’s a co-op open-world experience set in a fictional world.

This gameplay trailer shows off everything from flamethrowers to rocket-shooting backpacks, to flying buggies. There’s also co-op matchmaking for those of you who want to take on everything Yara has to offer with a friend. You won’t have to fight back against Yara’s ruling dictator, Anton Castillo, all on your own.

You can check out this new Far Cry 66 trailer for yourself to see all of the weapons in some pretty chaotic in-game action.

If this trailer grabbed your interest, you can pre-order the game now on its official site.

Explore An Alternate Reality Soviet Russia In Atomic Heart

2 years 11 months ago

Today during Microsoft's E3 showcase, we got a look at a brand-new game called Atomic Heart, a first-person shooter set in an alternate 1950s Soviet Russia. All set to a fun Russian pop song highlighting the destruction, off-beat visuals, and gameplay on display in the trailer.

While details about Atomic Heart are scant, as the brief trailer didn't answer too many questions, the game is being developed by the company Mundfish, founded in 2017. Atomic Heart is the company's first game.

Check out the game's new trailer from Xbox's showcase below:

2 years 11 months ago

Halo Infinite has received a pair of new trailers, and they offer a glimpse at what players can look forward to from the upcoming title.

Streamed during Microsoft and Bethesda’s E3 2021 press conference live stream, the trailers offer a look at two different sides of Halo Infinite’s experience. One is a cinematic which covers the game’s single player story and campaign, while the other offers a look at the game’s multiplayer.

The first carries a solemn tone, with Master Chief digging through floating corpses to reach a derelict ship. Once inside, he finds an AI similar to, yet different from, Cortana. She reveals that the Chief was tasked with finding and eliminating Cortana. However, something has happened to the Chief’s memory, and the new AI has remained functional despite a planned wipe after Cortana’s disposal.

All the same, Master Chief sees it as a boon and decides to take the AI with him to discover what happened.

The Halo Infinite multiplayer trailer, meanwhile, offers a glimpse at all of the modes, weapons, and more players can look forward to using when the game drops. Speaking of which: It was confirmed that the game is now slated for release this holiday season, though an exact date hasn’t been given at this time.

2 years 11 months ago

Psychonauts 2 is arriving on 25th August, as announced during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase this evening.

The third-person platformer has seen a series of delays, with developer Double Fine previously explaining that it needed more time to bring it up to standard, and that the studio needed time to adjust to its acquisition by Microsoft. Halo Infinite Multiplayer Gameplay Revealed, Will Be Available At Launch Alongside Campaign

2 years 11 months ago

343 Industries and Xbox just dropped a new story trailer for Halo Infinite, and while we are still crying over the deleted Cortana experience, the studio still had more to share. Now that we have confirmation that the campaign and multiplayer are shipping together at the same time, let's dive into what the online component will have to offer.

In the video below, we see several new components to the Halo Infinite multiplayer experience, including more fluid combat, weapon loadouts, and more. But don't just take our word for it, check it out for yourself in the video below:

Click here to watch embedded media

Arena Multiplayer also returns and we got a new look at that as well. Arena has changed through the years, especially as Halo continues to garner respect in the esports realm. 343 is ensuring that the Arena experience is what players want with Halo Infinite. More will be shown off in the coming months, including a special showcase set for July.

Multiplayer and the main story campaign are both set to release at the same time, despite rumors, which is something many Halo fans were concerned about. With the story trailer wrapping up some loose ends and multiplayer confirmed at launch, I think it's safe to say that the latest reveal is much more positive than the previous gameplay that caused the delay to happen in the first place.
