The Medium PC Requirements Revealed, and They’re Not Too Bad

3 years 4 months ago

The Medium will be released on PC and Xbox next week, and if you’ve seen any of the trailers and gameplay footage, you’ll know that this is a visually impressive game that will probably require you to have a decent PC to run it. Bloober Team has just revealed the PC requirements for the game at its various settings, and while it is a demanding game, they’re not quite as bad as you might think.

medium

From the looks of it, most PCs should be able to run the game at the recommended settings and hit 1080p at 30 frames per second. However, if you want your game to look a little prettier at the high settings, Bloober Team recommends the RTX 2080 Super or the AMD 5700 XT.

New Pokemon Snap Download Size Revealed, Will Have Online Functionality

3 years 4 months ago

Nintendo and Bandai Namco revealed that New Pokemon Snap would be getting released for the Switch in April, and more details about the game have surfaced on the official eShop listing. More specifically, we now know the download size for the game for players planning on getting it digitally.

First off, the download size will be 6.8 GB, which isn’t exactly terribly big for a Switch game. Players still using the Switch’s built-in internal memory will be able to download it comfortably, and it shouldn’t be too much of an issue for those who have adopted micro SD cards.

In addition to that, the listing also states that the game will support cloud saves, as well as online play. We haven’t really heard any details about online functionality for the game just yet, so it’s not clear what this will entail. It’s likely that there will be some sort of social sharing function, where players can upload their snaps and share it with the community, but that remains to be seen.

New Pokemon Snap is set to be released for the Switch on April 30.

Among Us Dev Reveals What’s Next For Game, Development Challenges

3 years 4 months ago

Among Us studio InnerSloth announced what is coming to the online multiplayer social deduction game in 2021 alongside some details about development itself.

The developer said it would be making a public roadmap for the game for 2021, but not contain dates unless the team knows they can make the deadline.

An account system is currently in the works with a report system planned as the first feature for it. The studio said a friends list, recorded stats, and other requested features will come later.

The Airship map, announced at the 2020 Game Awards, is still scheduled to launch as a free update in “early 2021.”

InnerSloth revealed that updates for the game have been taking long because the studio had to restructure itself after exploding in popularity in 2020, and even canceled its sequel to work on the original game.

“We had to spend 2 months just restructuring, figuring out new processes, and getting external partners to help us manage on board,” the studio said. “Originally it was just 3 friends working together (and now I’m here to make 4, hi), but if we wanted this to work long term and hire up, we needed to streamline things.”

The studio also said that hiring takes time and does not make development go faster when it takes for “hiring, training, onboarding, possible interpersonal disputes, artistic differences, code legibility, legal/privacy concerns, and an infinite number of other problems can arise.”

Pokemon Gets Even More “Poke-Lid” Manholes in Japan Starring Entei, Growlithe, Bellsprout, & More

3 years 4 months ago

The Poke-Lid mania in Japan is stronger than ever, as more and more towns decorate their streets with unique Pokemon-themed manholes.

This time around it’s Ikaruga town in historical Nara prefecture to install a new batch of Poke-lids, but it’s unique even compared to the rest of this trend.

Usually, cities install manholes portraying the same Pokemon, that is also associated with the city itself. Ikaruga brought forth a team of nine different critters.

In the pictures below coming straight from the press release we see Bronzong with Simisear, Growlithe with Bellsprout, Chimecho with Magby, Deerling with Flechinder, and Entei on its own.

Interestingly, the Poke-lids will mark locations for PokeStops compatible with Pokemon GO.

HuniePop 2: Double Date Finally Gets a Release Date

3 years 4 months ago

Fans of the puzzle dating simulator HuniePop have been waiting for its sequel for a long time, but now HuniePop 2: Double Date has a release date, no pun intended.

According to the announcement just made on Twitter, the game will launch for PC and Mac on Steam, GOG, Humble, and more on February 8.

If you’re unfamiliar with the HuniePop franchise, the first game released on Steam back in 2015 as a hybrid between a puzzle game, a visual novel, and a dating sim. Despite its rather alluring nature, it turned many heads for its solid puzzle mechanics and beautiful artwork.

As a result, it still has “overwhelmingly positive” user reviews on Steam.

If you’re unfamiliar with what the sequel offers, you can watch the latest gameplay trailer and read an official features list below.

Valve Considering Hosting Esports Tournaments in New Zealand, Says Gabe Newell

3 years 4 months ago

Valve co-founder Gabe Newell has this week spoken with New Zealand’s national media outlet TVNZ about his new life in the country since temporarily moving there to escape COVID-19.

A combination of New Zealand’s decisive policies in handling the pandemic and its geographically isolated location has made for a safe-haven in which life now continues as normal while the rest of the world struggles on.

It’s allowed Newell to enjoy his work and hobbies to the extent that his co-workers are apparently now desperate to follow suit.

“But there’s strong interest — after talking to these people who’ve literally been locked in their houses except to go out for groceries for the last nine months — and I’m like, ‘Oh look, here I am at a motorsports race, or here I am at Starship, at the hospital talking to doctors or reviewing optic nerve damage from Covid-19 patients because of my interest in neuroscience,’ and they’re like, ‘Yeah, I’m still at home — can we come to New Zealand now?'”

Apparently, there has actually been some discussion about the possibility of moving staff over to a new HQ in New Zealand, but it’s far from set in stone. What is being considered more seriously, however, is hosting Valve’s prestigious esports events in the country.

Newell called it “a realistic possibility” that is getting more realistic all the time as there’s just nowhere else in the world where live sports events can take place safely.

New Valorant Patch Brings Major Changes to Split, & a Minor Tweak to Jett

3 years 4 months ago

It’s only been a week since Valorant’s Episode 2 introduced a brand new Agent, battle pass season, and a bunch more content, but developer Riot Games is already rolling out a new patch. Patch 2.1 is a pretty substantial one, too, completely overhauling one of the game’s most defender-heavy maps.

Split is known for its tight hallways and sharp corners, which makes it a tricky map to control as an attacking team. That’s prompted Riot to redesign several different areas in the hope of rebalancing its dynamic to reduce the defending advantage.

Riot explains:

“This Split update is focused around improving attacker options on the map, as well as reducing 50/50 checks, the depth of certain corners, and opening specific areas on the map by increasing chokepoint widths.”

Here’s a slide-show highlighting all the new changes:

Devolver Digital Derails Fall Guys Coming to Game Pass

Fall Guys isn’t coming to Xbox Game Pass despite the service’s official Instagram page recently suggesting it would be. That’s according to publisher Devolver Digital, who shut down speculation in a Twitter thread earlier today.

The Verge’s Tom Warren was the first to spotlight Game Pass’s Instagram reply, which in turn prompted Devolver Digital’s response.

The publisher replied a short time later, then clarified explicitly that there was absolutely no plan in the works to bring Fall Guys to Microsoft’s subscription service.

Fantasy Network Puts a Fresh Social Media Spin on Classic Metroidvania

3 years 4 months ago

Raven Travel Studios has this week announced its new project Fantasy Network, a whimsical 2D side-scrolling Metroidvania about winning talent shows to become the president of a colorful world called Holua.

The game’s very first trailer teases its unusual premise, which looks both interesting from a design perspective but also as a catalyst to deliver some interesting social commentary. Studio owner and lead developer Paolo Cattaneo explains:

“I’ve been a game developer for 20 years and dreamed about making Fantasy Network from the beginning. I left my job as a software developer to make this dream a reality, creating a whimsical game which offers my thoughts on the media-centric world we live in.”

In Fantasy Network, players battle monsters across an eye-catching open-world either side of gossiping with locals and piecing together a story which ultimately hides themes darker than its vibrant aesthetic would at first lead you to believe.

Key features beyond the scope of its main story include character customization, a myriad of side quests, and the option to hang out and play mini-games in Holua’s local arcade.

A Kickstarter campaign is planned for the first quarter of 2021 to help fund the last stage of development and the porting of the PC version to consoles.

Check Out the Making of Genshin Impact’s Beautiful Dragonspine Region

3 years 4 months ago

Genshin Impact’s Dragonspine update is its largest yet, not only adding new quest content but an entirely new region to the world of Tevyat. The terrain of this snowy, mountainous area is in stark contrast to what we’ve seen before, which makes exploring its freezing wilderness all the more compelling.

Today, in a mini-documentary called Snow-Covered Path, developer miHoYo has shed some light on the development processes behind Dragonspine’s creation. It’s fascinating to hear just how much research and effort goes into forging these spectacular environments.

It’s explained that the Dragonspine is based on the Matterhorn mountain in Europe, which captured the imagination of the team for its striking conical shape. Also, that its relatively small size compared to the rest of the open-world meant that miHoYo spent a substantial amount of time crafting interior cave sections to maximize the explorable area.

There are a bunch more interesting takeaways, too, but I’ll let you watch for yourselves — you’ll need to pop on closed captions for the translation, but do make sure you have your sound on as the music is excellent.

Fortnite 15.21 Update Adds Predator Boss to Map, Cloaking Device Mythic Item & More

3 years 4 months ago

Fortnite’s servers are currently undergoing maintenance while the 15.21 update is being applied. The patch has been confirmed to bring a new boss character, a new Mythic item, a Jungle Hunter quest, and more.

The news comes from a number of leakers over on Twitter, who have already managed to detail exactly what awaits in the patch.

As you might have expected, the new boss character is the Jungle Hunter itself, Predator. Dubbed ‘the demon who makes trophies of men,’ players should now be able to find the hostile creature somewhere on the map. Defeating Predator will now unlock the skin. Thanks to HYPEX for showcasing the Predator NPC we’ll be fighting it out with on the Battle Royale map.

The new Mythic item is Predator’s Cloaking Device, allowing players to become ‘nearly invisible for a short time.’ The effect is removed by swapping weapons, or when swimming. Thanks to Fortnite dataminer HYPEX again for sharing the find.

Horizon Zero Dawn’s Final PC Patch Fixes Most of the Port’s Crashing & Stuttering Issues

3 years 4 months ago

Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition was released on PC last year, which was a pretty big deal, especially considering that the open-world RPG from Guerilla Games was originally launched as a PS4 exclusive title. The bad news is, the PC port wasn’t exactly very well-optimized.

While we didn’t run into any major, noticeable issues during our own playthrough, it’s clear that many other players did, and were experiencing crashing and frame rate stutters. Since the PC release, Guerilla Games has been pushing out patches and fixes to help to stabilize the port.

Now, patch 1.10 is finally available, and this is going to be the last patch that the PC port gets as Guerilla Games turns their focus towards developing Horizon Forbidden West, the highly anticipated follow-up to Aloy’s initial adventure.

“As our team continues development on our upcoming title Horizon Forbidden West, we are shifting to less frequent updates for Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition for PC after this patch. Please note that we will continue to monitor our community spaces as always!
We want to thank you all for your continued support and for sending in your crash reports over the past months. The information we received through your reports was invaluable to further investigate and help fix some of the trickier issues that we fixed in Patch 1.10.”

Guerilla Games

The developers state that updates will be “less frequent,” which likely means that unless any other major game-breaking bugs pop up, this is probably the last patch we’ll get on PC.

Horizon Zero Dawn is now available on PS4, PS5, and PC.

Mega Ampharos Out Now in Pokemon Go; Mareep Incense Day Coming Soon

3 years 4 months ago

Earlier today, Niantic revealed that Mega Ampharos is coming to Mega raids today at 10 AM local time. This is the second new Mega added to Pokemon GO since the Season of Celebration began back in December 2020 (the first being Mega Abomasnow). Niantic also revealed that Mareep Incense Day is coming this Sunday.

And as we’re currently past 10 AM local time everywhere in the world, that means Mega Ampharos can be found in Mega raids. This Electric/Dragon type is the first Pokemon with those two types to have Electric as the primary one. Zekrom is currently the other with these two types but Dragon is its primary.

If you’re clamoring to get your hands on a Mega Ampharos, then you’ll have plenty of chances to get a stellar one this Sunday, Jan. 24 from 11 AM to 5 PM local time. During that window, Mareep will be the focus of another Incense Day event.

During Mareep Incense Day, you’ll encounter tons of the Wool Pokemon when you activate an incense. And only the luckiest trainers will be able to find a shiny Mareep.

Once you stock up on those Mareep, you’ll want to evolve them into Flaaffy. And then if you evolve the Flaffy into Ampharos, it’ll learn the event-exclusive move, Dragon Pulse.

Other Pokemon attracted to the Incense will vary each hour based on types. The table below breaks down when Dragon-types and Electric-types will be attracted to Incense.

Destiny 2’s Hawkmoon Catalyst & Roll Farm Quest Is Live; Bungie Teases With New Trailer

3 years 4 months ago

Today following Destiny 2’s weekly reset a new quest was stealthily added to the game. It’s difficult, and I haven’t been able to complete it yet myself, but for those that are able to get a group of high level players together, you can begin to farm for the Hawkmoon catalyst and random rolls.

Hawkmoon is the first exotic to launch with the ability to farm rolls. This is believed by many to be a call back to the randomness of the original version of the hand cannon in Destiny 1.

Paul Tassi of Forbes has managed to make some progress on the quest, and you can check out his findings here if you’re eager to try and start farming yourself right away.

The catalyst appears quite powerful. It not only increases the magazine size (and thus, increasing the amount of stacks of Paracausal Rounds you can have) but it also increases the handling, reload speed and weapon range of Hawkmoon depending on how many stacks you have.

Whether you’re diving in or not, you can check out the teaser trailer for the quest released by Bungie today alongside the quest, which will give you a taste of what to expect.

Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation Launches Atelier Ryza 2 Crossover

3 years 4 months ago

Today Koei Tecmo launched another crossover in its popular free-to-play game Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation.

This time the crossover is with Gust’s Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy but there is good and bad news.

The bad news is that, for some reason, the developers did not opt to offer a costume inspired by the new game, but instead they simply recycled the costume from the past Atelier Ryza crossover event. They simply put it on different girls.

The good news is that the associated gacha has a 3.3% SSR chance, and it offers another chance to unlock Tsukushi.

Cast Your Vote for Our Reader’s Choice Game of the Year 2020 & Most Anticipated Game for 2021

3 years 4 months ago

2020 is finally history and 2021 is here. Twinfinite’s Game of the Year awards are in full swing and will continue this week and into the next.

It has been an awesome year for gaming and 2021 promises to be great as well.

While we at Twinfinite have our own opinions on which games deserve top honors, we’d like you to help us pick two awards with all the weight of our readers’ opinions behind it. After all, there is a lot more of you than there is of us.

This year, we’re doing things a bit differently. Instead of giving you a range of candidates to vote, we’re leaving things entirely in your hands.

If your game of the year is a well-known blockbuster, that’s awesome, but if you’re fond of a super-niche title that we don’t even know about, you can definitely vote for that. It may require a bit more effort in crunching the numbers, but the results wouldn’t truly express our readers’ feelings if we applied artificial limits.

To make our job easier, please try to use the official spelling for the games’ title. Usually Wikipedia is a good place to look that up. Just copy and paste.

In order to vote, you can simply use the poll below (or click here if you’re on mobile). In order to limit votes to one per person and avoid spam, you’ll need to log in with a Gmail account.

We’re aware that this isn’t ideal, but if you don’t have one, they’re quick and easy to make. This is the best way we have to keep things fair. You can also alter your votes until the deadline, in case you change your mind.

Rust Breaks its Concurrent Player Record Once Again

3 years 4 months ago

Survival game Rust is enjoying a renaissance to kick off 2021, having set a concurrent player record of 134,483 earlier this month. And its momentum has continued to snowball, as today PCGamesN reports the record has been smashed with an all-new high of 244,394 (numbers via Steam Charts).

Rust has long been popular, but this sudden wave of interest is being fuelled by popular Twitch streamers. That, in turn, has led to a tremendous boon in sales, with Rust overtaking Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam’s list of current top-sellers.

Earlier this month, FacePunch Studios’ owner Gary Newman lifted the curtain on just how much money Rust has been making recently. As you can see above, it’s quite the tally.

For the uninitiated, Rust is an open-world survival game that puts a focus on offering players complete freedom with how they approach their playthrough. Starting out completely naked and with only a rock, a torch, and your wits to rely on, you’ll have to craft and build your way to success as you interact with other players all competing for resources.

It’s a much-requested feature since Genshin Impact’s launch, with only dubious third-party software making controller support viable up until now. But miHoYo has finally spoken on the topic of official support, explaining in today’s article:

“The developers have heard your cries — from Version 1.3 onwards, devices that have had their operating systems upgraded to iOS 14 or higher will now support the Xbox Wireless Controller (Bluetooth Version), Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, PlayStation DualShock 4 Wireless Controller, and iOS-specialized Bluetooth controllers (partial support)!”

In other news that will come as music to mobile player’s ears, Genshin Impact’s Version 1.3 will be available for pre-download before the patch actually goes live. That means you’ll be able to get ahead of the curve and have the new version ready to play as soon it becomes available.
