Star Citizen Reveals Massive New Exploration Ship as Crowdfunding Jumps Beyond $410 Million

2 years 5 months ago

Today Cloud Imperium Games revealed another new ship coming down the line to the growing space simulator Star Citizen.

The new ship, named MISC Odyssey, was presented at the MISC Day of the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2951 currently being hosted in the game. It’s a massive exploration vessel that could basically be defined as a flying space station.

Within its 140 meters hull, it includes hangars for vehicles and smaller crafts, habitation, a tier 2 medical bay, a 252 scu cargo hold, and even its own mining and refining equipment, so you can basically extract fuel from the environment and refine it on the spot in order to extend its range indefinitely.

While it can already be purchased starting at approximately $700, it’s still a concept. That means that, unlike the Argo Raft, it’s not flyable yet.

It’s worth mentioning as always that purchasing ships with real money isn’t required and that all ships are available for purchase using in-game credits soon after they’re made flyable. The option should be considered only if you care to support the development of the game. If you don’t, you can and should grind for it.

While this isn’t flyable yet, you can also try most of the available ships via the Free Fly event that is going on until December 1, granting everyone access to the game and its ships at no cost.

You can check out the trailer below, alongside a gallery of artwork, and a look at the Argo and Drake days of the expo, in case you missed them.

The Banner Saga-esque Tactical RPG ‘The Way of Wrath’ Gets New Trailer; Coming to PC & Switch in 2022

2 years 5 months ago

Those on the hunt for a deep and tactical RPG experience may have their scratches itched by developer Animmal’s (sic) upcoming RPG, The Way of Wrath.

Scheduled to arrive on PC and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022, the indie studio has confirmed that publishing duties will be handled by Texas-based publisher Hooded Horse.

Accompanying the news is a new video shedding light on the moment-to-moment gameplay fans can expect from the mythological RPG experience. Go ahead and check it out below:

As you can see in the footage above, The Way of Wrath looks set to be a similar experience to Stoic Studio’s narrative-driven turn-based RPG, The Banner Saga.

Set during the Bronze age, combat appears to be fairly dynamic, and the story allegedly unfolds in a non-linear fashion. Additionally, players will have to make various choices that impact the world around them, and potentially cause different repercussions.

Rounding out the package is a fort management system where players can build traps and their very own siege equipment, as well as craft new weapons and equipment.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Review – A Lackluster Gem

2 years 5 months ago

I can understand how a developer may feel conflicted when fans of a franchise ask for a game that is both a faithful remake to fuel nostalgia and be a fresh, modern experience. It’s a tough balance. ILCA, the developer of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, attempted to find this balance, but ultimately ended up playing on the safe side.

The games are a faithful remake, for better or for worse. If you cried “Sinnoh confirmed!” all these years wanting a true remake with a fresh coat of paint and quality of life improvements, you got your wish.

If you were hoping that ILCA would have greater ambition when developing a Pokemon game than Game Freak has had in the past few generations, I’m sorry to say that Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl don’t quite reach those heights.

Rust: Console Edition Gets New Update Adding Quality of Life Improvements, Bug Fixes, & More

2 years 5 months ago

A new update has just been rolled out for multiplayer survive-’em-up, Rust: Console Edition, and it’s available to download now on PS4 and Xbox One.

Specifically, the new patch – officially dubbed Update 1.20 Devastation Unleashed – adds a bunch of quality of life improvements, bug fixes, and even some new features to the first-person open-world survival experience.

The most meaningful addition is a new Tech tree, which players can use to spend scrap and unlock different branches and abilities without having to rely on random blueprints anymore. All blueprints will be wiped from servers when the new Tech tree is live.

Additionally, there’ll be new gestures, new ways to build, much larger map seeds, improved gun handling, performance optimizations, and even a brand new Combat knife.

The original PC iteration was developed by indie outfit Facepunch Studios, and was released into Steam Early Access back in 2013. Rust then received a port to consoles from UK studio Double Eleven earlier this year, and it’s fast become a popular multiplayer survival title on both PC and console platforms.

For the full breakdown of the latest update’s patch notes, see below:

New additions to the game:

– Tech tree.

– 3KM maps.

– Gestures.

– Building Blocks.

– Map visual changes.

– New Item: Combat Knife.

Dungeon & Fighter Fighting Game DNF Duel by Arc System Works Shows Berserker in New Trailer

2 years 5 months ago

Today Nexon released a brand new trailer of the upcoming fighting game DNF Duel, the upcoming fighting game of the Dungeon Fighter franchise (also known as Dungeon & Fighter in Korea).

The trailer focuses on one of the available characters, the Berserker, showing off his gameplay in action.

It certainly will probe rather familiar to fans of Arc System Works’ games. This shouldn’t be surprise since Nexon hired the popular Japanese fighting game developer to create the game.

You can check it out and see for yourself below.

Dungeon Fighter Online is quite popular worldwide (admittedly a lot more in Asia than in the west) and the game has social media accounts in English, so we might certainly expect a western release.

Dungeon Fighter Online is one of the most played games in the world if you look at actual revenue, so it was pretty much a matter of time for it to expand to other genres and markets.

At the moment, no platforms or release windows have been announced for DNF Duel, so we’ll have to wait for further information on that front.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires Will Get a Demo in Japan; New Screenshots & Details Released

2 years 5 months ago

Koei Tecmo announced today that Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is going to receive a playable demo in Japan.

The demo will be delivered at a yet unannounced date for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Apparently, PC users won’t get one. No info has been revealed, for now, about a western release of the demo.

Incidentally, character customization data from the demo will be available for transfer to the finished version of the game.

We also learn new information about the game itself, which will come with special playable scenarios including the Yellow Turban Rebellion or the Battle of Red Cliffs. Meeting certain conditions in these scenarios will trigger historical battles.

Some additional scenarios will be included in the Deluxe and Digital Deluxe Editions only.

There’s no set way to win the game. You can try to unify the world while making sure that all warlords survive, or create your ideal country with your favorite ones. The outcome depends on your playstyles and you can earn titles depending on six fame parameters. Those titles affect your compatibility between various warlords, and events will branch depend on whether you play good or evil.

The game portrays human drama among heroes of the Three Kingdom. If you can create a strong bond with them, you can get married or form a bond of brotherhood.

You can have a child with your spouse and register it as a custom character with a blood relation with your existing one. You can then also play the game again with your son or daughter as the protagonist.

Below you can check out the new screenshots.

Star Citizen Reveals a Big Space Truck as Crowdfunding Passes $406 Million

2 years 5 months ago

Today Cloud Imperium Games revealed a brand new ship already flyable in the growing space simulator Star Citizen.

The ship is the Argo RAFT, which stands for “Reinforced Advanced Freight Transport.” Fancy acronyms aside, it’s basically your big space truck.

While it’s nearly unarmed, it’s well-armored, which should give it a chance when attacked out in space. With 96 SCU of cargo in three containers, it isn’t massive, but it can get you started on trading.

It also looks rather cool, as you can see in the video and images below. It’s also available for purchase starting at $110. It’s worth mentioning that purchasing ships with real money isn’t required and that all ships are available for purchase using in-game credits soon after they’re made flyable. The option should be considered only if you care to support the development of the game.

Do keep in mind that you don’t need to spend any money (real or virtual) to try it (and most ships available currently in Star Citizen). A Free Fly event is going on until December 1, granting everyone access to the game and its ships at no cost.

As a bonus, you can also check out videos of the days dedicated to Crusader, Tumbril, and Origin, on top of a look at the most relevant feature of the Crusader Ares Inferno, in case you missed them.

New Battlefield 2042 Update Brings Balancing Tweaks & Critical Fixes

2 years 5 months ago

EA DICE has officially rolled out the second update to Battlefield 2042, and it’s available to download now for consoles and PC.

Chief amongst the new additions are a few critical bug fixes that prevented a “consistent gameplay experience,” for some users who may’ve been experiencing issues relating to not being able to get revived by allies.

Additionally, the freshly deployed update adds a bunch of balancing tweaks specifically for vehicles and a number of weapons.

The LCAA Hovercraft, MD540 Nightbird, KA-520 Super Hokum and AH-64GX Apache Warchief have been adjusted to “bring them more in line with other vehicles” in the game. And from a weapon perspective, the PP-29’s recoil has been increased slightly, and most weapons have received a tweak to make for “more consistent bullet spread”.

In the Swedish studio’s recent blog post outlining the new patch, the team also teased what’s next in their upcoming third update, which’ll allegedly be the developer’s “biggest update so far.”

Specifically, the third update will focus primarily on improving the title’s performance and bringing a myriad of quality-of-life improvements to the online-centric military first-person shooter.

Our very own Ed McGlone reviewed Battlefield 2042 and loved his time with the game, ultimately awarding it a 4.5/5, concluding:

Thorn & Sledge Face Off in Rainbow Six Siege High Calibre Trailer

2 years 5 months ago

Ubisoft is continuing to roll out trailers and build some excitement for the newest season of Rainbow Six Siege: High Calibre. The new Siege Operator, Thorn, will make her way to the game when the update goes live on Nov. 30, but until then, you can watch this new animated trailer.

There isn’t any gameplay here, but the video builds a bit of a story and clearly shows Thorn’s personality as she takes on Sledge one-on-one in a training exercise. Thorn mentions growing up with four brothers and having to fight, so this sparring match between her and Sledge is an interesting and entertaining one.

You can have a look at the trailer below to see Thron and Sledge go at it in hand-to-hand combat:

If you’re looking to see what Thorn can do in-game, check out her Siege reveal trailers and gameplay breakdown from earlier this month. Her Razorbloom Shell gadget is nothing to mess with. Additionally, the Outback map is getting a rework for the upcoming High Calibre season as well.

Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters vs Sisters for PS5 & PS4 Revealed with First Screenshots on Famitsu

2 years 5 months ago

Today’s issue of Weekly Famitsu revealed a brand new Hypedimension Neptunia game titled Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters vs Sisters with the first screenshots and details.

The game is coming to PS5 and PS4 and will release in Japan on April 21, 2022. Compile Heart also revealed that development is currently 70% complete.

It’s a JRPG focusing on Nepgear, Uni, Ram, and Rom, younger sisters of Neptune, Noire, and Blanc. It’s also described as another spin-off game for the series.

The story will prove hilariously familiar to many JRPG fans annoyed by a certain semi-recent gaming trend.

The CPU candidates wake up after having been in a deep slumber for two years. The world has been invaded by smartphones and everyone has the latest model named “Magiphone.”

This has started the “Buzzle” phenomenon, triggering an invasion of monsters in Planeptune, while the older sisters seem to have disappeared.

This is a story of destruction and rebirth for the Goddesses raising from despair to a future of hope.

As usual, the storytelling is done with a visual novel-like portion of the game with 2D illustrations, while the 3D models have been redesigned. It’s an “evolved form” from previous Neptunia games.

Battles are fought in real-time with three characters in the party. You control one and the other two are controlled by the AI, but you can switch at any time.

10 Hardest Pokemon Gym Leaders, Ranked from Hard to GameBoy Out the Window

2 years 5 months ago

10. Brock

pokemon gym leaders brock

It’s a bit weird to say that Brock is one of the toughest Gym Leaders since he’s the first Gym battle in the very first Pokemon games. But depending on which starter you choose, those Rock/Ground-types can absolutely crush you.

Good luck to all the Charmander owners in the original Red and Blue because that Pokemon is not budging Brock’s Geodude, Onix, and his five Full Heals. You could catch a Caterpie or Nidoran and grind to level up high enough to overcome the challenge, but that would take forever against the low-level Pokemon found just before his Pewter City Gym.

The far easier solution here is to pick Squirtle or Bulbasaur in the original games. To those who stuck it out and persevered, I salute you and your soon-to-be Charizard for your bravery.

The manga’s success was consecrated in 2017 with the first anime series, while a second was aired just a few months ago n the summer.

An official website is currently available in Japanese.
