Demon Gaze Extra Western Release for PS4 & Nintendo Switch Delayed by a Month

2 years 5 months ago

Today Clouded Leopard Entertainment announced that the North American and European release of Kadokawa Games’ JRPG Demon Gaze Extra has been delayed.

The game was supposed to launch on December 9, 2021, and will now come on January 6, 2022, for both PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

It will include  Japanese and English voiceovers, while subtitles will be in English, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.

Demon Gaze Extra is an enhanced port of the original game developed by dungeon-crawling JRPG masters at Experience Inc. It launched in 2013 for PS Vita placing the player in the role Oz, a young man with a Magic Eye that lets him control demons.

It’s also the sequel of Students of the Round, which was released in 2010 for PSP, Xbox One, and PC.

Here’s a detailed description of the enhancements:

“While the original DEMON GAZE had its fans, some players may have been discouraged by its
challenging gameplay style.
In DEMON GAZE EXTRA, various elements have been tweaked, including the addition of a highspeed battle function, a retry function, and an enhanced autopilot function. Now, even dungeon

RPG beginners need not fear!
The enhanced autopilot function is a streamlined version of the revolutionary feature from the
original DEMON GAZE. This, along with the addition of a high-speed battle function speeds up
repeated battles in dungeons, allowing players to explore labyrinths more easily. In addition, DEMON
GAZE EXTRA has a retry function that allows players to go back to the beginning of a battle and try
again in the event of a defeat.

Dungeon & Fighter Fighting Game DNF Duel by Arc System Works Shows Grappler in New Trailer

2 years 5 months ago

Today Nexon released another trailer of the upcoming fighting game DNF Duel, inspired by the Dungeon Fighter franchise (also known as Dungeon & Fighter in Korea).

The trailer focuses on one of the available characters, the grappler, showing his hand-to-hand combat move.

As usual, it feels very familiar if you compare them to Arc System Works’ games. This shouldn’t surprise since Nexon hired the popular Japanese fighting game developer to create the game. The previous trailer featuring the Berserker and the one showing the Inquisitor give the same feeling.

You can check it out and see for yourself below.

Dungeon Fighter Online is quite popular worldwide (admittedly a lot more in Asia than in the west) and the game has social media accounts in English, so we might certainly expect a western release.

Super Animal Royale Season 2 Start Date Announced

2 years 5 months ago

A tweet has announced that Season 2 of free-to-play battle royale Super Animal Royale will be starting December 14. There is even a hint of what is to come with the new season.

The announcement tweet reads:

It’s about dam time.

Season 2, a new map location, Super Animal breeds, CRISPRmas, and more arrive in our next update on Tuesday, December 14th.

The “dam time” seems to hint that the new map location will indeed be a dam. Maybe somewhere in the sparse south with the Goldwood Woods. With Howloween taking up a good portion of October and the lack of a Thanksgiving event, CRISPRmas sounds to be a new seasonal event.

While the tweeted image does feature a beaver, they have long been shown in connection to the game’s updates. With that, it is unlikely they will be among the promised “Super Animal breeds,” but they remain a possible inclusion with season 2.

The new season will no doubt include a new battle pass. The best part of the battle passes in Super Animal Royale is that they never expire, so if you were among those who purchased the Season 1 battle pass, you will still be able to progress through it even if you decide to purchase season 2’s.

The Matrix Resurrections’ Deja Vu Trailer Teases Huge Changes to the Timeline

2 years 5 months ago

The Matrix Resurrections is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing and enigmatic film releases of the year, and the latest teaser trailer only serves to highlight that. Warner Brothers has just released a new trailer for the movie, titled Deja Vu, and you can check it out for yourself down below:

The first movie explained that experiencing a moment of deja vu meant that there was a glitch in the Matrix, and it happens when someone has changed something. And that looks to be the key sticking point in Resurrections.

The trailer shows off plenty of iconic scenes from the previous movies, overlaid with new characters and little differences that are just a little off from how we remember them. With the reboot of the franchise, it seems we’re also getting a reboot of the Matrix itself, and it’s exciting to see how it will all play out.

The Matrix Resurrections will air in theaters on Dec. 12.

Brazillian Indie Studio Alt/Reality Revealed & Teases First Character

2 years 5 months ago

Today we learn that a brand new independent development studio named Alt/Reality has opened in Brazil.

The studio, directed and founded by Lucas Ricardo (who previously worked in QA on games like Pillars of Eternity 2 and The Banner Saga 3) has revealed the design of one of the characters that have been created for an upcoming game.

You can find the full version of the artwork at the bottom of the post.

While it’s too early to hear about specific titles, we received an introduction via press release, which you can read below.

“This brand new studio is built by a talented Brazilian team, under the creative leadership of Lucas Ricardo (Creative Director and founder, former QA for games like Pillars of Eternity 2 and The Banner Saga 3). Alt/Reality aims to deliver projects that cover a wide range of themes, with titles that go from Medieval settings to futuristic and sci-fi universes. Although, our differential falls under what our players will be able to do in each of our upcoming games…

For every title, we will consider gameplay, movements, and animation based on martial arts, special powers, melee combat, and weapons. Firearms will be the least of your concerns since every character can be turned into a whole weapon by itself. At the moment, we have 1 title in active development and a lot of other projects already in consideration. We expect you to have fun while unleashing all your skills with combos and strategic actions using the environment. If you love good ol’ fun combat, impactful characters, and some weird stuff and sense of humor, we probably have something for you.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 Fan Creates a Hilarious Definitive Edition Mock-Up

2 years 5 months ago

Since its release in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 has stood out as one of the best video games of all time. Even over three years later, players still rave about Arthur Morgan, the Van der Linde gang, and the crazy, emotional adventures that took place throughout the game.

Some of that nostalgia probably has to do with the recent controversy surrounding Rockstar, as fans are not too happy with the quality of the recent release of the GTA Trilogy The Definitive Edition. The games were filled with bugs, control issues, and visual downgrades, leading fans to wonder what would happen in the future if other games in the developer’s catalog received a similar treatment.

The result is a boatload of hilarious memes and even some videos, including the one you see below by YouTuber AkkoCHAKO.

As you can see, this satirical Red Dead Redemption 2 video features some masterful memeing, transitioning from the beauty of the original game to a game state that is similar to what the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition faced upon its release.

Titanfall Is Being Discontinued & Removed From Gamepass, Respawn Has Announced

2 years 5 months ago

Titanfall, the 2016 multiplayer shooter from Respawn Entertainment, is being discontinued and removed from Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service early next year, March 1. Servers will, however, remain live for those still playing the game.

The news comes by way of an announcement over on the developer’s Twitter channel, which highlights the importance of the Titanfall franchise and Respawn’s intention to keep building games around its universe. It is described as a “north star” for the experiences the developer wants to create moving forward.

It isn’t quite the confirmation of Titanfall 3 that avid fans of the franchise have surely been pining for, but it’s certainly a positive that Respawn is intent on a continuation of its universe in some form — hardly surprising given the success of its Apex Legends battle royale game, which is based on the same lore.

The original Titanfall was, of course, followed by a sequel title that introduced a campaign for the first time. The game received a glowing critical reception but failed to capture a substantial player base, which ultimately saw Respawn abandon the idea of an immediate sequel and pivot to a battle royale spin-off in Apex Legends.

You can read today’s full statement in the image embedded below.

We also get to see the 3D model used for the F-22A Raptor, which will appear in today’s episode, on top of several animation sketches from Yumeta Company and TSF clips from Graphinica.

I guess some can be considered slightly spoilery, so if you want to go into the episode fully blind, you shouldn’t watch under the Raptor video.

Nicholas Cage to Star as Dracula in Chris McKay’s Renfield

2 years 5 months ago

Nicholas Cage can add yet another iconic role to his long list of gigs as an actor, as Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that he’ll be playing Dracula in Chris McKay’s upcoming adaptation of Renfield. This marks the actor’s first big studio movie since he starred in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengence back in 2011.

Cage will play opposite Nicholas Hoult in the film, who plays the titular character, Redfield, who is the infamous henchman of Dracula. McKay will also be producing alongside Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Bryan Furst, and Sean Furst.

The Redfield character originated back in 1897 in Bram Stoker’s Dracula as a patient in an asylum obsessed with drinking blood. Over the years, his character has evolved considerably, with many different takes on his personality and the relationship between him and his vampiric master.

While we don’t have an exact idea of what the plot will follow for Redfield, you can at least check out a description of the character that is taken straight from Seward’s own journal in the novel, he is described thus:

“While it hasn’t been the best kept secret, we are delighted to finally come clean and stop hiding our long awaited arrival onto PlayStation!” Søren Lundgaard, CEO & Co-Founder, Ghost Ship Games. “We are bringing the game to PlayStation fans at one of the most exciting times in the game’s development path, and are so excited to open the doors to a whole new set of fans.”

Deep Rock Galactic recently introduced the Performance Pass, which is basically a free version of the Battle Pass model that allows players to unlock tons of free content and cosmetics as they continue playing the game. It’s since surpassed the three million player mark, making it one of the more popular survival games out on the market right now.

Deep Rock Galactic is already available on PC and Xbox, and will be coming to PlayStation in January 2022.

Here’s How You Can Manage Server Congestion Issues for FFXIV: Endwalker’s Launch

2 years 5 months ago

With just about a week to go before the launch of the new Endwalker expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, Square Enix has released a new post detailing some of the server issues players will likely encounter when the expansion is released. It’s not uncommon for MMORPGs to experience high login queues and congestion, and with all the exciting new content coming in Endwalker, players will need to get ready for that as well.

First off, Square Enix advises players to have their characters created and ready to go before launch, as you won’t be able to create new characters in congested worlds. This shouldn’t be an issue for longtime fans and veterans, but new players should be aware.

Amazon Game Studios Reassures Players that They’re Clamping Down on New World Bot Accounts

2 years 5 months ago

Over the past month or so, Amazon Game Studios’ pirate-themed MMORPG New World has been plagued by a number of issues. This includes dupe glitches surfacing because of server transfers and other bugs in the game, forcing the dev team to completely shut down the economy, resulting in un-upgraded towns and halting progress.

To make matters worse, the game has also recently seen a surge in bot activity, where bot accounts are camping some of the more popular resource gathering spots in the game to farm for materials. Considering that resources are not unique to players, and that they must compete with each other to farm them, bot activity means that their progress has been slowed down considerable.

In a statement to Kotaku, Amazon Game Studios reassured fans that they’re definitely aware of increased bot activity in the game and are working hard on banning them as quickly as possible.

“We’re aware of player reports about increased bot activity in New World. Bots pose a persistent challenge for MMOs, and our team has deployed dedicated resources and tooling to identify and combat them. We are committed to continuous improvement in our fight against bots, and yesterday alone, we banned over 7,700 accounts for using bots. Our goal is to ensure New World is fun and fair for all players. We’ll post updates to the New World forums and Twitter as we have them.”

2 years 5 months ago

Motion Twin has been absolutely killing it with Dead Cells updates. The new (and free) Everyone Is Here update is already out on PC and consoles, featuring costumes and weapons from other popular games like Hollow Knight and Hyper Light Drifter. And today, the company has announced yet another paid DLC called The Queen and the Sea.

You can check out the short teaser trailer for yourself down below:

According to the press release, this DLC is slated for an early 2022 release and it’ll introduce two new biomes to the game. Perhaps more excitingly, the DLC will also feature and all-new ending to the game and an alternative final boss, the titular Queen herself.

The teaser trailer offers us a glimpse at the Queen, but we don’t have too many details about the biomes themselves yet. It’s safe to assume that the DLC will add new enemy types and plenty of new weapons to play around with.
