One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 Gets New Trailer to Celebrate Anime Episode 1,000

2 years 5 months ago

Not often do games that are nearly two years old get a new trailer, but today Bandai Namco pulled One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 out of the closet.

The occasion is obvious, as the whole One Piece fandom is celebrating the airing of the 1,000th episode of the anime.

For the occasion, the publisher showcased many of the epic scenes from the game, which often are a pretty close reproduction of the anime itself

While it’s not the announcement of a new game, it’s a pretty good trip down memory lane. You can check it out below.

It’ll be interesting to see if the never-waning popularity of the manga and anime will spark the release of a new game sooner rather than later. It just happened with Dragon Ball, so One Piece may very well follow suit.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

Star Citizen IAE 2951 Day 3 Is All About the Aegis Redeemer as Crowdfunding Rockets Past $401 Million

2 years 5 months ago

Today Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games opened the third day of the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2951, focusing on manufacturer Aegis Dynamics.

This means that the star of the day is the Aegis Redeemer gunship, a brand new flyable ship that packs a mean punch.

Yet, our old friend (and Jeremy Clarkson spoof) Jax McCleary seems to want to use it for a rather “peaceful purpose.” Perhaps it’s really time for his Stig-like assistant Jimmy to show if he can steer the ship himself?

Due to the current free fly event, which lasts until December 1, everyone can try flying the Redeemer, regardless of whether they’ve spent any money on the game.

You can check out the new trailer below, alongside a visit to the RSI hall that opened yesterday, in case you miss it. You can also take a look at the Anvil day’s hall.

3D Combat Action Game Varvarion Reveals New Swordfighting Gameplay

2 years 5 months ago

Today developer Polygonomicon released a new trailer of its upcoming 3D combat action game Varvarion.

The video showcases a brand new look at the game that appeared at DigiGameExpo2021, including a new mission.

An English translation has been added to the dialogue originally in Japanese for our perusal, and it’s worth mentioning that a lot of dialogue was skipped, while voice effects are still placeholders.

It’s quite impressive considering that Polygonomicon is actually a solo developer

You can enjoy it below.

Varvarion does not have a release window or firm announced platforms, but the developer expects it to come “most likely” on PC via Steam.

It supports local split-screen, but the developer is also planning to implement a single-player campaign. Online multiplayer will “hopefully” come as well, but it’s not seen as a priority for now.

Here’s how the developer officially describes the game.

League of Legends Fighting Game “Project L” Shows New Gameplay in Development Update

2 years 5 months ago

Riot games showcased new gameplay and a development update of its upcoming fighting game code-named “Project L” set in the League of Legends universe.

We get a new video with developers Tom and Tony Cannon as they explain where the game is at in terms of progress.

While they’re still in the R&D phase, so it’s too early to talk about release dates and similar details, the team has found a direction they feel is satisfying, and we can see a few characters in action.

More specifically, we get to see champions like Ahri, Jinx, Darius, and Ekko, how their looks have changed and some of the new moves they have learned.

We also hear about the netcode, which is based on the popular Rollback Netcode, to which the developers have added their own twist.

It’ll be interesting to see where this one goes, but for now, it appears that the wait will be long before the first builds make their way to the hands of players.

You can check it out below, and see if your fighting game sense starts tingling.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Gets New Patch Fixing a Laundry List of Bugs

2 years 5 months ago

Stop me if you think that you’ve heard this one before: a big publisher releases a video game which is a total, buggy mess, so said publisher releases a ton of updates to fix said mess. It’s a tale as old as time! Yes, it’s fair to say that Rockstar Games’ eagerly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has been a bit of a disaster for a company that’s prided itself on its stellar reputation.

The US-based behemoth has gone on record to apologize for the state of the game at launch and has even promised free classic versions of the games for PC users, but fans are still up in arms thanks to how incomplete and broken Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy was released in. For a company who’s known for taking its time with its projects, it’s a wonder why Rockstar Games didn’t keep their latest remaster trilogy in the oven for a wee bit longer, right?

Nevertheless, the publisher has promised that it has “ongoing plans to address the technical issues and to improve each game going forward,” and this is where we’re currently at. Thankfully, however, Rockstar Games has today pushed out a new patch, for all platforms, which’ll likely fix a big chunk of the trilogy’s issues.

Here are the full patch notes for Update 1.02 (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One):

Arcane Season 2 Has Officially Started Production

2 years 5 months ago

Only around two weeks after premiering on Netflix, the second season of League of Legends spin-off series Arcane has started production. This announcement comes right on the heels of the season finale.

While this does mean good things for the future of the show, it is definitely to be expected that there won’t be word on a premiere date anytime soon.

This announcement came with a tweet and and short 32 second video.

The trailer does feature dialogue hinting at the future, so it might be a wise choice to simply accept the announcement if you have yet to start/finish Arcane.

The brief tweet from the official Arcane show account reads:

Ready yourselves, friends. Season 2 of Arcane is now in production.

Where’s a Hexgate when you need one?

The tweeted video has already amassed 1.2 million views.

Star Citizen Crowdfunding Passes $400 Million As Intergalactic Aerospace Expo is In Full Swing

2 years 5 months ago

Star Citizen’s crowdfunding campaign has achieved outstanding results over the years, and today it passed a major milestone.

The total tally has just passed $400 million and it’s currently sitting on $400,443,102.

In the meanwhile, the number of registered accounts is now well over 3.3 million, and it’s at 3,354,758 at the moment of this writing.

It’s worth mentioning as usual, that the number of registered accounts does not represent the number of paying accounts. There is no real official information on that, but the figure above includes free accounts created for a variety of reasons, including Free Fly events.

Speaking of Free Fly events, one is in full swing right now with the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2951. Yesterday we had the day dedicated to Anvil Aerospace (which you can see in the first video), while today the halls of the expo are hosting Roberts Space Industries and its starships.

Ann ships on the show are available for free rental, and since you can access the game without making any monetary pledge (you just need a free account) until December 1, there is a lot of gear to check out, while possibly making up your own opinion about the game.

On top of that, developer Cloud Imperium Games released a video featuring developers from the FPS content and features teams, as they talk about the goodies that players can expect on the first-person gameplay front.

2 years 6 months ago

Today, WIT Studio posted the first English-subbed trailer for The Girl from the Other Side, an upcoming feature-length adaptation of artist Nagabe’s hit manga about a broken world and the curse-causing variants who live as outcasts.

We first heard about the project back in March of 2021, as it was revealed that WIT Studio managed to double its original Kickstarter goal just one day after launching the project.

You can check out the synopsis for the feature-length original anime, which is written in the form of a poem, right down below.

Once upon a time, there were two countries far away .
The world is divided into “inside” and “outside”, and the
place where the curse-causing variant lives is called “outside country” and was
feared by people.

One day, a girl is picked up from a corpse whose one variant has been abandoned at the border with the inhabited land “Uchitsukuni” . The girl called herself “Shiva ” and longed for the variant that picked her up as “Sense”.

A secret investigation that is spun after incompatible people meet each other.

Destiny 2 Streamer Drops Sick Freestyles While Raking Up Kills in PvP

2 years 6 months ago

Freestyle rapping has always always been an amazing art form, as it requires the artist to quickly think of lyrics that are relevant and clever with no pre-planning involved whatsoever. But you know what is even more impressive than simply freestyling? Doing it while streaming a PvP matching in Destiny 2.

That is exactly what you can see streamer Uhmaayyze doing in the clip below, as he multitasks like a madman, rapping about capturing the point while also popping a Super that makes his enemies cower in fear.

The Twitch partner and Destiny 2 player received plenty of buzz for his amazing rap when he tweeted it out earlier this week, prompting a part two while also teasing that there will be a whole lot more content similar to come soon.

New Souls-Like Action-RPG Thymesia Now Coming to PC & Consoles in 2022

2 years 6 months ago

Though the Souls-like sub-genre may arguably be reaching saturation point, this humble scribe can’t get enough of ’em. And if they float your boat, too, then we may have some good news for you. Yes, Thymesia is a new action-RPG in the vein of FromSoftware’s beloved franchise and it’s been confirmed for a 2022 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Praise the sun, indeed!

Feast your eyes on Thymesia’s newest gameplay trailer down below:

As you can see in the footage above, the game gives off some heavy Souls vibes. From its dark and gloomy setting to its fluid third-person combat, Thymesia looks set to be a new contender in the Souls-like sub-genre.

Interestingly, you’ll be able to use other enemies’ diseases and transform them into special powers. Plus, there’ll apparently be multiple different endings to unlock, too.

While the tried-and-tested gameplay appears fairly familiar, the story sounds pretty unique. Specifically, you play the role of a “half-human, half-raven called Corvus,” who must try and “piece together his lost memories in an attempt to save himself and the kingdom he once called home.”

Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 Trailer Gives a Peek Into Madness

2 years 6 months ago

Just today, Funimation released a trailer for the second part of the Attack on Titan Final Season. We already learned last month that the premiere date is set to be January 9, 2022. It should be noted that this premiere date is only for the subbed version, there is no word for when the dub will begin.

The trailer itself is only 24 seconds of short clips that only give hints of what is to come. There’s definitely some titan versus titan action and the hint of injured comrades. It’s short, but certainly tense.

The trailer also reveals that the first episode of Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 (and 76th episode of the series) will be titled “Judgment.”

Before we get into spoilers for the first part, you can see the trailer here and below if you want to avoid them (though, no idea why you would watch this without already having seen the first part):

Inspired by Nordic mythology, Bramble: The Mountain King is reminiscent of games like Little Nightmares and Inside thanks to its somber tone and imagery. Instead of a 2D perspective, though, the Swedish indie studio’s sophomore effort employs more of a 3D point of view.

The title was first announced at an IGN Expo during E3, but not much was shown. Now, we have a much clearer look at what the gameplay entails. Furthermore, the developer has also promised that there will be combat, stealth segments and some environmental puzzles, too.

SWTOR: Legacy of the Sith Will Serve as a Foundation for the Next 10 Years of the Game

2 years 6 months ago

Earlier today, Bioware showed off some brand new footage for their next big upcoming expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic, titled Legacy of the Sith. In the live stream, there was plenty of information revealed regarding new features, locations, and abilities players can expect when SWTOR: Legacy of the Sith is released. Those include new combat styles, a return to Manaan, and new spooky Operation and Flashpoint events that horror fans will love.

Alongside all of this exciting new information, a roadmap for the future was also teased for the game, as Star Wars: The Old Republic Project Director Keith Kanneg stated that this update was just the beginning of a new journey for the series. The Bioware veteran elaborated a bit more on that future during a preview event earlier this week.

This is the start of a year celebration. We have a whole year of activities planned that will spark a lot of conversation with players. The Anomaly will happen soon after the expansion. It was a plan to lay everything out to bring new technology updates to the game. We do have a 10-year-old game, so this is just the start.

This is a foundation year for us. If we want to last another 10 years, we need to refine where we are going and what our story will be. This is the start for the next 10 years.”

Project Director Keith Kanneg

Bioware Creative Director Charles Boyd added to that by stating they want the game to feel like playing a DnD campaign, with past choices and experiences affecting the future of the game. When asked if SWTOR: The Old Republic was welcoming to new or returning players, he confidently stated that everyone would feel welcome:

The news came by way of a livestream event for the game, unveiling that players won’t have to wait much longer, as SWTOR: Legacy of the Sith launches on PC on Dec. 14, 2021.

SWTOR: Legacy of the Sith was originally announced back in July during the 10-year anniversary celebration of the game. The update is set to add plenty of new stories, features, combat, and character to the game, including new Flashpoint and Operation missions.

A handful of new and returning characters were also revealed during the livestream, which we’ve included for you below:

Returning Characters:

  • Darth Malgus: This sinister Sith made his return in the Onslaught expansion, serving as the main villain protagonists. He continues his evil ways in Legacy of the Sith, though he’s now gone rough from the Empire.

SWTOR: Legacy of the Sith Preview – Returning to Manaan, Elom Flashpoint, R-4 Anomaly Operation, & More

2 years 6 months ago

To celebrate the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Old Republic – Legacy of the Sith, Bioware showed off a sneak preview of the newest expansion, revealing plenty of new features, locations, and characters fans can expect from the update.

Kicking things off, Bioware unveiled a rather familiar setting that Knights of the Old Republic players will love: Manaan. Home to the fish species known as the Selkath, this Ocean planet plays a pivotal role in the galaxy, as both The Republic and Empire vie for control of its healing liquid, Kotle.

Over the years, Manaan has remained a neutral party in the war between the Sith and Jedi, as they fear each side will try to steal this magical resource for themselves. In Legacy of the Sith, that is no longer the case, as The Empire has invaded with the hopes of being the sole cultivators of Kotle in the galaxy.

New Star Citizen Video Reveals Spartan APC & Shows Redeemer as Crowdfunding Passes $398 Million

2 years 6 months ago

Today Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games released a new video showing vehicles players will get to enjoy soon.

First, we take a look at the new Anvil Spartan armored personnel carrier. It does exactly what it says on the tin and looks very cool.

Secondly, we move on to the Aegis Redeemer, a gunship originally designed by backers and that went through quite a lot of iteration.

Both will be playable starting tomorrow, with the opening of the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2951. Everyone will be able to try them as it brings along the traditional Free Fly event, allowing non-backers to try Star Citizen at no cost for over a week.

In other Star Citizen news, the crowdfunding total has passed $398 million and it’s currently sitting on $398,596,758.

The number of registered accounts is now over 3.3 million, and it’s at 3,339,883 at the moment of this writing.

Latest Destiny 2 TWAB Outlines Massive Subclass & Ability Changes for 30th Anniversary Event & Beyond

2 years 6 months ago

This week’s Destiny 2 TWAB is truly the mother of all TWABs (MOATWAB?). There’s a good chance I’ve said that before but this TWAB really is massive.

Bungie has unveiled that they are making some pretty big changes to the way abilities work in Destiny 2 heading into the 30th Anniversary event next month, with the goal of providing some more interesting choices in PvE but, more importantly, reducing the impact that abilities have in battle in PvP AKA Crucible.

Abilities right now are a huge part of PvP. While Bungie wants abilities to augment a player’s style in Destiny 2’s PvP, they still want to keep the action focused on gunplay. Right now… that’s debatable if that actually occurs.

To try and fix this, Bungie is switching to a system that has different cooldowns for each individual ability (see above), such as super and grenades, instead of one universal cooldown for all melee, grenades, supers, etc.

Deathloop Game Update Makes a Myriad of Improvements

2 years 6 months ago

Developer Arkane Games has today announced patch notes for Deathloop’s next game update, and it makes a host of changes that should enhance the gameplay experience. Most notably, for my money, improvements to the game’s NPC AI, which was one the weakest aspects of the game. They should offer more of a challenge moving forward.

Elsewhere, UI clarity and appearance, audio mix quality, and controller remapping as well as field-of-view and motion-blur controls for PS5 are all featured in the update. Here’s a full overview:

Borderlands 3 Update Adds Final Director’s Cut Vault Card and New Event

2 years 6 months ago

The third and final Vault Card in the Director’s Cut DLC for Borderlands 3 is now out. For those who haven’t been following along, the Vault Cards are another means of attaining loot through progression in Borderlands 3. After a set amount of XP has been earned, the character earns a gacha-esque spin. They have a chance to earn a key, and collecting enough of these keys earns them one of a list of items from legendary weapons, to weapon trinkets, to character skins, and heads.

Every Vault Card brings with it a different pool of items. The third Vault Card, dubbed “Bunker Masters” has 28 possible items to earn in Borderlands 3.

They are:

  • 4 pieces of new Legendary gear (2 Assault Rifles, Grenade Mod, Shield)
  • 4 Vault Hunter Heads
  • 4 shared Vault Hunter Skins
  • 4 ECHO Device Skins
  • 3 Weapon Skins
  • 5 Weapon Trinkets
  • 3 Emotes
  • 1 Room Decoration

Meanwhile, the Borderlands 3 Co-op Loot Drop Event works like this:

To celebrate the debut of Vault Card 3, for a limited time we’re bringing back the Co-op Loot Drop event! From November 18 at 9:00 AM PT to November 25 at 8:59 AM PT, all Badass enemies will drop more loot when you’re playing co-op in online multiplayer or local split-screen. The bigger your co-op party, the more loot you’ll see drop!

You can find the rest of the patch notes here. One of the most notable changes is the fact that Maurice’s Black Market will now “switch locations without relying on a weekly hotfix.”

First Free Seasonal Adventure, Cloudy Climb, Comes to Minecraft Dungeons on Dec. 14

2 years 6 months ago

Today, developers Mojang Studios and Double Eleven officially confirmed that their previously announced Seasonal Adventures content will be coming to Minecraft Dungeons on Dec. 14.

Yes, the first of the upcoming themed events will be called Cloudy Climb, and will feature a new progression system, weekly challenges and a procedurally-generated tower that changes its form when you least expect it. The best part? It’ll be completely free to those who purchased the game.

Feel free to take a gander at the new launch date reveal video down below:

As you can see in the footage above, the blocky dungeon-crawler will also be getting quite a few additional knick-knacks. Specifically, there’ll be a bunch of new pets, emotes and flairs added into the mix, too.
