Best Weapons and Items to Buy in Resident Evil 4 Remake

1 year 1 month ago

Resident Evil 4 Remake Best Weapons Items

Resident Evil 4 remake offers more than a handful of weapons and item options, but only a few could be considered the best. While a majority of the guns from the original game do appear, there are a few new additions that serve more interesting utility roles. Additionally, there is one item in particular that can make the game significantly easier if the player chooses to invest in it.

Editor's Note: Please keep in mind that the weapons and items in the "best of" list below may contain spoilers for the later hours of Resident Evil 4 remake.

Combat Knife

The Combat Knife is an invaluable weapon. It will allow you parry attacks and perform finishers on enemies. Since Resident Evil 4 remake becomes significantly easier once you get the parry mechanic down, upgrading your Combat Knife is a must. Especially when it comes to close quarters combat.

Once fully upgraded, you will be able to take down most normal enemies with just a few slashes on Standard. This also goes for the Fighting Knife, which is a better version of the Combat Knife and is obtained later in the game. Both of these knives have durability. But keeping both in your inventory will more than pay off.

Bolt Thrower and Attachable Mines

With ammunition you can pick up from enemies you kill or from any missed shot, the Bolt Thrower is a great item for those wanting to conserve on ammo. But what makes the Bolt Thrower really stick out is the Attachable Mines you can craft.

How to Solve the Sword Puzzle in Resident Evil 4 Remake

1 year 1 month ago

Resident Evil 4 Remake Sword Room Puzzle

The Resident Evil 4 remake will take players through familiar locations, one of which being the Castle. While some might remember a very specific sword puzzle, which was relatively easy and involved just swapping a pair of swords, the one that appears in this game is a little different. Instead, the Resident Evil 4 remake sword puzzle will have players moving around a total of four swords, and obtaining one by shooting specific medallions found through the room itself.

The first two medallions to unlock the door to obtain the Bloody Sword are found within the room that features the statue impaled by said sword. However, the final is actually directly to your left. Swing your camera left and up, and you will see the final emblem you need to shoot in order to open the door. From there, grab the sword and get ready to solve the puzzle. The solution is fairly simple, which you can find below, including a picture of said solution.

The solution to the Resident Evil 4 remake sword puzzle is as follows:

  • Iron Sword - Gold Sword - Bloody Sword - Rusted Sword

Resident Evil 4 Remake Los Illuminados Church Puzzle Solution

1 year 1 month ago

Resident Evil 4 Remake Los Illuminados Church Puzzle

One of the more iconic side locations in Resident Evil 4 is making a return. In the Resident Evil 4 remake, players will make their way to the church of the Los Illuminados to locate Ashley Graham, and there is a puzzle there that may be familiar to those who played the original game. However, like a lot of things in the remake, this puzzle has changed somewhat. That doesn't mean the solution is any more complicated. You'll just be solving it in a different way.

The first thing you need to do to complete the puzzle is find the Blue Dial. This item is found on the righthand side of the church in a cabinet. From there, head to left side of the podium and pull down the switch. This will open up the interface where players can use the Blue Dial to begin the Los Illuminados puzzle. Instead of trying to create the Los Illuminados symbol, you want to make sure all of the respective blue, green, and red fragments align properly outside of the logo itself.

You can view the solution to the Resident Evil 4 remake Los Illuminados Church puzzle below.

An hour with Sludge Life 2: more jokes, more graffiti, more cynicism, more brilliance

1 year 1 month ago

One of the purest videogame ideas is a room whose interior you can see but not access. Not yet, anyway. This is games' four four beat, its Alberti bass and its cadmium yellow. Sludge Life, which exploded into my life a few years back, a two-hour long game that has kept me happy for days on end, knows about the power of a room you can't get to. Not yet.

Why is it so good? Because that room festers. You try the handle, nothing. You can maybe see through a window but you can't fit. So you have to think, regroup, return to your core skills and see how you might use them differently. You have to try things that otherwise would never have occurred to you, and when you find new items and new skills, that room you can't get to yet is always there in your mind: hey, how about me? Is it my time yet? In short, you improvise, you test the boundaries of the rules, and you explore. And that, I hope, is videogames.

If you never played Sludge Life, you should play it now because it's free on Steam, and it's also everything I hope you will love: it's brisk, colourful, inventive, defeated, disgusting, exhilarating, curious in every sense. It's funny and burned out and gymnastic and cynical. It's a bottle-sized open-world with parkour and spraypainting spots and people to talk to and puzzles to solve. And it's free right now because there's a sequel on the way, freshly announced.

Urusei Yatsura Season 2 Will Air in 2024

1 year 1 month ago

urusei yatsura season 2

Season 2 of the new Urusei Yatsura anime will start airing in 2024. The announcement tweet featured Lum winking at the viewer while she’s wearing a school uniform. There are sakura blossoms floating around her as well. It is unclear if this is just an innocuous key visual or if this is meant to be a hint that viewers can expect to see Urusei Yatsura season 2 in Spring 2024. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

Urusei Yatsura was originally a manga series by Rumiko Takahashi (the creator of works such as Ranma ½ and Inuyasha). It ran from 1978 to 1987. The original anime series for it stated in 1981 and the reboot for it debuted in 2022. In it, Ataru is a human and Lum is part of an alien race of Oni. In order to protect Earth from the Oni’s invasion, Ataru must touch Lum’s horns before the week is up, which he succeeds at. However, due to some misunderstandings, Lum believes that Ataru proposed to her at the end of the competition and moved into his house.

Like some of Takahashi’s other works, Urusei Yatsura is a romantic comedy with slapstick elements. The 2022 remake of the anime keeps her signature art style but with more modern colors and shading. Though some of the original actors are still in the industry, the new show has more or less replaced the entire cast as well.

Urusei Yatsura season 2 will start airing some time in 2024.

Honkai: Star Rail Special Program Noted English Voice Actors

While much of the Honkai: Star Rail Special Program acted as a refresher going over the characters, story, and worlds for those new to the show, it also mentioned English voice actors appearing in the cast. Six major players from from the Astral Express and Herta Space Station appeared. It also brought up how Belobog is home to this world’s version of Bronya, who people might recognize from Honkai Impact 3rd.

First, here is the cast of English Honkai: Star Rail voice actors who were revealed during the presentation. Those who played one of the betas might have already seen some of them in character profiles and heard them. As each one was introduced, they also introduced themselves.

  • Bailu - Su Ling Chan
  • Bronya - Madeline Reiter
  • Dan Heng - Nicholas Leung
  • Herta - PJ Mattson
  • Himeko - Cia Court
  • Jing Yuan - Alejandro Saab
  • Kafka - Cheryl Texiera
  • March 7th - Skyler Davenport
  • Seele - Molly Zhang
  • Welt - Corey Landis
  • Yanqing - Amber May

All six of these characters from the cast whose English voice actors were mentioned are playable in Honkai: Star Rail. As people who played one of the betas may recall, both Dan Heng and March 7th joined the player’s avatar, known as the Trailblazer, as part of the story.

The many seas of a week in videogames

1 year 1 month ago

Lots of seas this week - well, two, but they're very different.

Down to the seas in Dredge and the things you haul up might take your arm off. No wonder, since this mournful oddity seeks to blend fishing games with Lovecraftian horror. That's not so much of a reach, as Edwin points out in his review, but Dredge sadly can't draw much out of the idea. What emerges from the depths is a neat spin on fishing with a lovely coating of grimness, but the genuine terror is hard to come by, and before long the RPG systems have kicked in and you've powered yourself past the point of being scared.

Okay, maybe three seas, or three billion, because we also covered No Man's Sky on PSVR 2, and you never know whether the next planet you land on in Hello Games' procedurally scrambled universe is going to give you a nice big ocean to get into trouble in. Vikki was intermittently delighted by what she found, and there's something undeniably thrilling about combining the endless panoramic promises of No Man's Sky and VR. I can't wait to try it out, and it's always the ocean worlds here that call to me the strongest.

What we've been playing

1 year 1 month ago

Hello! Welcome back to our regular feature where we write a little bit about some of the games we've found ourselves playing over the last few days. This time: demons, dice and bats.

If you fancy catching up on some of the older editions of What We've Been Playing, here's our archive.

Gosh, Diablo 4 is lush isn't it? I hadn't seen any preview coverage of the game before booting it up for the pre-order/chicken beta last weekend, so I was shocked by how much better it looked than Diablo 3, which I'd last played on Switch. The game starts strong, with a dark, suspiciously-high-budget intro cinematic, but really kicks into high gear when you're dropped into the game proper. Snow swirls around you as you navigate a blizzard at night, the camera zoomed in close to make it hard to see into the distance, wolves coming out of the darkness to be met by the crunch of your club.

Now Microsoft has responded, stating "we haven't pulled any games from PlayStation" and that it has in fact "expanded our footprint of games" after releasing PS5 exclusives Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo on Xbox.

Yu-Gi-Oh Gemini Elf Figure Will Cost Almost $250

1 year 1 month ago

gemini elf yu-gi-oh figure

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh card game, Shibuya Scramble Figure  will release a 1/7 figure of Gemini Elf. Pre-orders are open until July 31, 2023. The Yu-Gi-Oh Gemini Elf figure will cost 31,900 JPY, which is approximately $243.50. [Thanks, Denfaminico!]

The Gemini Elf figure will stand at around 26 centimeters tall and is a faithful recreation of the card art. The two elves will stand on a base that resembles the back of a Yu-Gi-Oh card. This is so that it looks like someone has summoned the monster during a game. eStream is also holding a giveaway on Twitter. To participate, you simply need to QRT this Tweet with the hashtags #ヂェミナイ・エルフ and #渋スクフィギュア. It will give away five figures in total.

Here are some more pictures of the Gemini Elf figure:

Gemini Elf is one of the original Yu-Gi-Oh monsters when the card game launched in 1998. It is a Normal Monster of the Earth attribute and it is a Spellcaster. It has fairly good stats for a 4-star monster, since it has 1900 ATK. However, outside of usage in decks that specialize in Normal Monsters, it has fallen out of the meta.

Sabito’s look like he is standing on stone. Meanwhile, Makomo’s looks like she is standing on the forest ground with some rocks behind her.

The Resident Evil 4 remake remains a legendary experience

1 year 1 month ago

Resident Evil 4 is one of the most influential video games in the history of the medium, a game that perfectly balances tense third-person gunplay, varied set pieces and impeccable pacing to deliver something truly unique at the time of its release. That made me regard the prospect of the 2023 remake with equal parts anticipation and apprehension. Could Capcom really do it justice? After all, as impressive as their most recent efforts had been, recreating a game like RE4 is a far more daunting task.

Now that it's here, it's clear this is a complete reimagining of the original game using Capcom's in-house RE engine. It fails to revolutionise the genre, but the way the game has been updated for a new audience is still remarkably engaging - and a fantastic reimaging of the original. Alas, the final game suffers from minor technical hiccups that surprised all of us.

In this article, we'll share the current status of the primary console versions of the game as of launch day, including advice on how each version performs, then compare the new version to the original in terms of both visuals and gameplay. Looking to the game's core design though, Capcom opted to not just to recreate the original experience, but expand it - and that deserves both celebration and scrutiny.

Resident Evil 4 Remake gets off to killer start on Steam, sets new franchise record

The Resident Evil 4 Remake released today, and it is already doing some impressive numbers on Steam. In fact, it has set the all-time concurrent players peak record for the Resident Evil franchise as a whole.

At the time of writing, there are 132,331 players working their way through the world as Leon S. Kennedy (and his lovely jacket), with that number more than likely to rise as the day goes on.

To put those numbers into more perspective, Resident Evil Village has an all-time player peak of 106,631. Then in third place, we have the Resident Evil 2 Remake with an all-time player peak of 74,227.

Sony has officially dropped the PS5 God of War Ragnarok Bundle down to just $509.99 at all retailers in the US, that's a $50 discount from the list price of $559.99. This includes Amazon, PS Direct, Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, and Target.

This is the first major discount we have seen since the PlayStation 5 launched over two years ago. A standard PS5 will cost you $500 at the moment, so with this discount you're effectively only paying $10 for God of War Ragnarok on PS5. This is an absolute steal and well worth considering.

It wasn't all that long ago that the PS5 was completely out of stock, with many gamers unable to secure the new consoles for almost two years. But, the tide seems to have turned, as PS5 consoles are now available 100% of the time, and fans are now even getting discounts on the console in 2023.

Alongside games, this guide also includes the PlayStation Pulse 3D wireless headset and the PS5's DualSense controller.
