One of the latest Pokemon-like games won’t appear on all platforms this week. Initially, Freedom Games and TRAGsoft announced Coromon would come to the Switch and PC on March 31, 2022. However, a last minute issue with some features resulted in a delay. As such, the PC version will appear as expected this week. However, the Switch release won't.

Here’s the full statement. It noted specifically that cross-platform multiplayer and online features, which could relate to general multiplayer or cross-platform saves, weren’t working as expected.

This is definitely not an announcement we ever wanted to make, but we want to be as transparent and honest as possible with you all. While working on our Nintendo Switch port of Coromon, we ran into some unexpected snags when it comes to online features and cross platform multiplayer. We want to make sure that the experience we bring to you all on Switch is going to be the best that it can be, and in order to do this, we have to delay the Switch launch. We’re hopeful that this delay won’t be too terribly long, as we know that you all are very excited to play Coromon on the go and against your friends/other researchers.

The Limited Run Games retail store will open its doors on April 30, 2022. The retailer, which previously only sold games through its official website and stores like Best Buy, is about to have its own storefront in Cary, North Carolina. Its grand opening event is set for the end of April 2022, though the official announcement did mention people can come in for trades on April 29, 2022.

The store will carry products from Limited Run Games, as well as products like card games, books, and other gaming-related items. Used games will also be there, with the store accepting trade-ins. The announcement said 800 items will be available at launch. It specifically mentioned the first 100 people during the grand opening will get a swag bag. There will also be a contest for a prize pack.

As for special items and guests, a few came up. People associated with WayForward games will attend. In particular, Matt and Erin Bozon, Bannon Rudis, and Adam Tierney. Mega 64 will show up at the event. There will also be an outdoor market in addition to in-store items.

While the The Witch from Mercury anime appeared, another other major component of the 3rd Gundam Conference event was the Gundam Metaverse. As announced in February 2022, Bandai Namco is moving forward with its plans to create an IP metaverse, starting with the brand. Based on a presentation and press release, Bandai Namco intends for it to become a "platform of opportunities" for fans worldwide to connect with each other.

The first step in the making of the metaverse is the creation of "virtual communities" for each "category" of Gundam engagement. These include things like Gunpla (Gundam plastic model kits), video games, anime productions, and music. Each will be linked by the existing Bandai Namco ID system.

Then, virtual spaces will be constructed. These will be modeled after Gundam's signature space colonies. Each will link to the Gundam Metaverse hub. Collectively, this cluster of colonies will be called Side-G. How these virtual colonies will be accessed by users was not specified. Bandai Namco promised that the virtual spaces would be linked somehow to the real world.

New monsters means new armor sets and weapons in Monster Hunter games, and Capcom offered a look at two new ones that will appear in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. The suits involve items gathered from the Garangolm and Lunagaron. In each case, every character’s set appears.

First, here is the Garangolm Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak armor set. It begins with a look at the male hunter outfit, before moving on to the female hunter. The Palamute armor makes one look like a horse. As for the Palico, its set of armor resembles a golem.

Next is the Lunagaron sets. Once again, it starts with the hunters before moving on to the Palamute and Palico. These armor sets tend to have parts on the head that resemble ears and tails.

After months of rumours, Sony have finally unveiled their answer to Xbox Game Pass today. Starting this June, their new subscription service will unite PlayStation Plus and their cloud streaming platform PlayStation Now under one roof, offering three different tiers of membership. Most of it isn't that relevant to us on PC, but the final, most expensive tier, PlayStation Plus Premium, will include that aforementioned cloud streaming to PC, letting us play hundreds of PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and PSP games without having to own an actual PlayStation.

It's not yet clear how that library of games will differ from the current PlayStation Now library, but one thing is certain: this is a move that definitely benefits people with a PlayStation and a PC more than it does standalone PC peeps. And yet, even as someone who falls into the former camp of PlayStation and PC owners, I'm still not sure this new PS+ is something I actually want. Sure, there's that massive retro collection on offer, but no Day One games I can either play on my console or stream to PC? On your bike, Sony. Personally, I see this as more of a dip-in and dip-out kinda deal to indulge my occasional retro cravings, but I'm keen to know what you, RPS readers, think of this new PS Plus offering as well. Following Sony’s unveiling of its heavily-rumored PlayStation Plus revamp, which combines the features of Plus and those of PlayStation Now into three different tiers, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan revealed that players should not expect first-party games to launch on the service. 

Seemingly alluding to the fact that Xbox Game Studios titles launch day-one on Xbox Game Pass, Ryan said if PlayStation were to do this, it would break the company’s “virtuous” release cycle. This news comes by way of a new interview with Ryan over at GamesIndustry.biz, who spoke to the CEO about today’s PS Plus news. 

“We feel like we are in a good virtuous cycle with the studios where the investment delivers success, which enables yet more investment, which delivers yet more success,” Ryan told GamesIndustry.biz. “We like that cycle and we think our gamers like that cycle.

Guilty Gear Strive launched last summer and is still going strong with DLC characters and Evo fighting tournaments. I bet you never expected a former president to make an appearance in the game. That’s right, Bill Clinton is a prop in the background of one of Guilty Gear Strive’s various arenas. Sure he’s not a playable fighter, but he is a gracious spectator.

Back when it was released in 2015, MidBoss struck gold with its old-school cyberpunk adventure, 2064: Read Only Memories. The game boasted a solid story, likable characters, and beautiful pixel art that had fans gushing. Over seven years later, a sequel, titled Read Only Memories: Neurodiver, is finally almost here.

To shed a little more light on Read Only Memories: Neurodiver, I sat down with MidBoss’s Creative Director, John “JJ” James, and CEO, Cade Peterson. Thanks to both for taking the time to discuss the upcoming sequel.

Twinfinite: What are going to be the biggest differences between 2064: Read Only Memories & Read Only Memories: Neurodiver?

JJ: For the most part it plays the same. It’s still a point-and-click adventure that has a lot of the stylings of Japanese adventure games from the late 80s and 90s. 

The only thing that is really different outside of a visual update is that there aren’t really a huge variety of minigames. Last time we had map and maze puzzles; this time around, we decided to focus on one specific gameplay element: collecting relevant items in a memory and putting them into a fragment to repair it. 

That is basically going to be the main gameplay outside of interacting with characters and exploring the environments like the first game.

Today third-party developers had more news to share about add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

We start with Just Flight, which released a new introduction trailer of the highly-anticipated vintage airliner BAE 146.

Meanwhile, the 2022 Premier Pass will provide players with costumes for Seth, M. Bison, and Akira, re-colors for all 45 characters, two fighter profile themes, five titles, and 10,000 Fight Money. Capcom is also planning to release new tracksuits for every character over the course of the Capcom Pro Tour.

The Babylon’s Fall NieR Automata event is now live. 11 special campaign quests are live, there are themed emblems for reaching Amusement Park Rabbit ranked leaderboards, the hub got a new look, and people can earn certain cosmetics and weapons inspired by the game. Namely, people can get an A2 outfit, some Emil cosmetics, and swords 2B used.

Here’s the list of all the campaign quests available for the event. In each case, harder challenges unlock after beating lower tiers.

Two big games were just delayed: the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. On this week's From Panel to Podcast episode, we talk briefly about the latter being moved into 2023, and also discuss Marvel Unlimited coming to Xbox Game Pass – a move that shocked us.

Zen-like puzzle and home decoration game Unpacking will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 sometime in the spring, publisher Humble Games announced today.

There was no exact release date for the launch, but more details would be revealed in the coming weeks, according to the press release. Humble Games also announced it had partnered with Limited Run Games for a physical release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Each comes with a cute cardboard box collector’s sleeve, and pre-orders are now available for the physical versions alongside a 2LP Vinyl Soundtrack of the game by BAFTA award-winning composer and audio director Jeff van Dyck.

Unpacking originally launched for PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass last November. The game revolves around unpacking belongings after moving to a new place and placing them around your home, whether it is a single room or an entire house. Players can discover a story about the character through which items stay or go over the course of eight moves.

The game had won several awards since its launch including from the Game Developers Choice Awards, SXSW Gaming Awards, D.I.C.E. Awards, BandLab NME Awards, Australian Game Developer Awards and Can I Play That? Accessibility Awards.

Blizzard has today offered a detailed behind-the-scenes look at development progress on its highly anticipated upcoming sequel, Diablo IV; specifically, the artwork that brings many of its beautiful locations to life. The blog post includes supporting commentary from some of the game’s leading artists, led by environments art director Chris Ryder.

As you’ll discover, the blog post begins by offering a detailed overview of how the team has conceptualized the artwork, which has been designed around “creating the environments of Diablo IV through a darker and more grounded interpretation than earlier installments.” The team has aimed for “believability, not realism,” we learn, which has been achieved in part by the use of physically-based lighting.

The article then takes us on a tour of six different locations that Ryder believes showcase the team’s highest priorities when creating environments in the game. Each location has both a written article and a video update blog, meaning there’s a bunch of new footage of the game you can check out. I’ve embedded them below.

When 2064: Read Only Memories was released in 2015, it encapsulated fans thanks to stellar pixel art, amazing characters, and an enthralling story. Just over seven years later, MidBoss hopes to capture that same spirit with the sequel, Read Only Memories: Neurodiver.

In this single-player adventure, players control ES88, a telepath with the ability to delve into memories. Using these powers, and a creature known as a Neurodiver, the psychic detective must chase down a rogue esper who has hidden away in other people’s memories, solving puzzles and making friends along the way.

I was able to get a quick preview of what fans can expect in Read Only Memories: Neurodiver, and there are already some noticeable differences. The first thing that is noticeably different is that the sequel looks even more visually impressive.

Sure, 2064: Read Only Memories looked beautiful too, but the next installment features even more detail than the first. Character portraits are more expressive, animations are snappier, and movement is pixel-perfect.

According to MidBoss’s Creative Director John “JJ” James, the team used everything they learned from the first game to add those small details. Interestingly enough, they also chose to limit the number of colors that can be displayed on screen all at once to give that natural color shift that older games used to have.

This simultaneously gives Read Only Memories: Neurodiver a retro and modern art feel to it, making for some really unique visuals. Alongside these visuals, gameplay has also been tweaked a bit for the sequel.

This morning, Sony finally unveiled its games-on-demand service in a blog post with more asterisks than the lease on your first apartment.. It’s a revamp of PS Plus called… [drum roll] wait for it… [another drum roll] PS Plus.

Publisher Bandai Namco has announced that it will be delisting Fast & Furious Crossroads on April 29, effectively ending all sales of it. 

Activision Blizzard, the publisher-studio giant behind franchises like Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Overwatch, is set to bring an end to one of the multiple lawsuits filed against it with an $18 million settlement. 

It must be approved by the courts first, of course, and according to The Washington Post, U.S. District Judge Dale Fischer is “prepared to approve” Activision Blizzard’s $18 million settlement in a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against it by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. It’s important to note that this lawsuit is just one of many Activision Blizzard is facing and you can read more about the others, including this one filed last week, here. 

“The Court is generally satisfied that both the monetary relief and the nonmonetary provisions are fair, reasonable, and adequate,” a California court filing published today reads, according to The Washington Post.

Today Ubisoft and Blue Byte detailed the upcoming season pass for the popular city builder Anno 1800, including three DLC.

The first DLC will be titled “Seeds of Change” and launch on April 12, focusing on agriculture in the New World.

The second, titled Empire of the Skies will come in the summer and will focus on airships.

The third, coming late this year, will be titled New World Rising, which will bring cultural and economic expansion to the New World.

The price of the season pass will be 24,99€/$, while purchasing each DLC separately will cost you about 10 bucks more.

Incidentally, we also heard that Anno 1800 has reached 2 million players by the end of 2022.

DLC 1 – Seeds of Change (releasing April 12th, 2022)

Season 4 kicks off in just two weeks with the first DLC – “Seeds of Change” – that allows you to revolutionize the agricultural sector of the New World.

To make this possible, you’ll first have to build the powerful Hacienda, which will become the agricultural hub of your New World empire. Construct and expand your own country estate with new ornaments as well as various highly efficient modules.

Regardless of what you think of how the game turned out, there is no denying that Cyberpunk 2077’s aesthetic and vibe are just so cool. Even with all the crime and chaos home to Night City, it’s just such an awesome setting.

As such, it makes complete sense that Ryan Gosling’s nameless protagonist from the movie Drive fits into the game so well.

As you can see in the video above, well-known meme Youtuber eli_handle_b.wav created yet another cool mashup, this time with the movie Drive and the video game Cyberpunk 2077. The video shows just how the action of the movie and the game fit together, making us wish that Gosling’s character had a Keanu Reeves-like role in the game.

On the surface, Elden Ring looks like most difficult medieval fantasy games, as it places a heavy focus on memorizing your opponent’s moves and the flow of battle in order to defeat them with melee or magic abilities. If you get a bit clever, though, some of the builds that make up this game can get pretty crazy.

Take the insane build that uses the incantation Unendurable Frenzy that Youtuber Adam Barker has created. As you can see in the video below, this player’s character has basically been turned into a Mech from Armored Core, firing out laser spells at an insane rate, making even the biggest bosses quiver.

In the comment section of the video, Barker stated they’ll be uploading a full commentary video detailing what was used to create the insane laser lights show build, including how exactly it all works when it comes to defense. Earlier this month, several Destiny 2 videos created by fans were removed from YouTube due to the filing of DMCA takedown notices. Bungie tweeted that they weren't responsible, but that they were "aware of a series of copyright takedowns" and were actively investigating. Some of their own videos had also been taken offline.

A US district court judge has confirmed they're "prepared to approve" Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard's $18m USD settlement of a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission last year, despite objections from other parties.

Activision Blizzard initially announced it had reached an agreement with the EEOC - to set aside $18m for employees who had experienced harassment and discrimination at the company - last September, but court approval of the settlement was delayed after California's Department of Fair Employment and Housing objected.

Hit indie hide-and-seek online multiplayer game Among Us could be getting a Master Chief skin in the game sometime in the future, both developer InnerSloth and Microsoft teased today.

Among Us studio InnerSloth tweeted an image of the game with a character donning the super soldier’s iconic green armor with the name “Spartan117” alongside what looks like a 343 Guilty Spark pet tagging along. The tweet tagged the official Halo account with the message, “the Impostor is coming for u… very soon.”

The official Xbox, Xbox Game Pass, and Halo accounts tweeted their own cheeky replies to the thread soon after, adding their own characters to the same scene. While no other information about the potential crossover was revealed such as when it it coming or how players could get it, it seems that at least Master Chief and his pet 343 Guilty Spark could be coming to Among Us sometime in the future.

In Kirby and the Forgotten Land you can have a super-cute car Kirby (or “carby”) cake, but the pixels will soon take real (and delicious) shape in Japan, at the popular Kirby Cafes.

A limited-time menu to celebrate the new game and the 30th anniversary of the franchise will debut on April 1 and it’ll indeed feature the super-cute car cake.

According to the press release that shared the announcement, the cake will be be served at the Kirby Cafe Tokyo and at the Kirby Cafe Hakata in Fukuoka for the somewhat steep (but not so crazy for a themed cafe in Japan) price of 1,848 yen tax included. That approximately translates to $15.

The same special menu will include a Kirby Burger and pasta with meat and vegetables (and you can have the standard Kirby face or the retro one on the bun) and the Happy Birthday Kirby cake.

The burger also comes with the option to pay about $8 more to bring home the souvenir plate it’s served on.

If you’ve been hitting the links online in Everybody’s Golf, your days on the green are now numbered. Sony has announced that the online servers for the 2017 title are shutting down later this year.

The shutdown occurs on September 30, as per a message that appears when you visit the game’s PlayStation Store page. It also states that “all online features (including online multiplayer modes) will cease on that date. You will still be able to play and enjoy the game in single-player offline modes.”
