Of course, the plushie portrays the mysterious cat Fluffy (named “Shippo,” which means “Tail,” in the Japanese version) in life-sized scale. He’s 40 cm-long excluding the tail and will be priced at 4,950 yen (which roughly translates into $44).

Pre-orders in Japan started yesterday and will end on February 9, with an estimated release window of June 2022.

He’s also posable, so you can display him however you want.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Begins A New Timeline On Switch In April

2 years 5 months ago

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, the sci-fi strategy adventure game by Vanillaware (makers of Odin Sphere and Dragon’s Crown), is making its way to Switch on April 12. The game has only been available on PlayStation 4 since it launched in March 2020.

The game blends side-scrolling visual novel adventure with real-time strategy. Players control 13 ordinary high school students who also pilot giant mech suits called Sentinels. Okay, so they’re not that ordinary. The story primarily revolves around stopping an invasion, but the sci-fi tale branches in all sorts of wacky directions, many of which draw inspiration from stories like War of the Worlds and The Terminator. While you’ll use your mech to defend the world in RTS battles, the real meat of 13 Sentinels is navigating the intertwining, non-linear narratives of the students. Each teenager has their own story arc, and you’ll jump back and forth between them all to uncover the entire bonkers storyline. Take a look at the Switch announcement trailer below for an idea of what to expect.

Tom Holland May Be In Three More Spider-Man Films, New No Way Home Posters Released

2 years 5 months ago

With Spider-Man: No Way Home set to release in just a few weeks, producer Amy Pascal has revealed that we’ll be seeing more of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Pascal said No Way Home is not the last Spider-Man movie Sony Pictures Entertainment is making with Marvel Studios in a new interview with Fandango. She also revealed that Holland’s next movie will be the first in a new trilogy.

“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie,” Pascal told Fandango. “We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”

As you can see in Pascal’s quote above, Holland’s Spider-Man will be seen in at least one more Spider-Man movie. He could also appear in the following two movies, but that’s not guaranteed considering Pascal didn’t specifically say Holland will be in all three. Perhaps he appears in the first of this new trilogy and then hands off the title to someone like Miles Morales. Perhaps he remains Spider-Man in all three films of the new trilogy.

CD Projekt Red is Scaling Back Cyberpunk 2077 Support to Work On Expansion

CD Projekt Red has been gradually shifting to new projects while continuing to support Cyberpunk 2077. The studio is also allocating more resources to work on the game's expansion.

In CD Projekt Red's Q3 earnings report, it shows that the majority of the company was still supporting Cyberpunk 2077 up until the end of September this year. Now CD Projekt is focused on Cyberpunk 2077's impending expansion along with Gwent-related projects and projects involving Spokko, another studio under the CD Projekt umbrella.

Additionally, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are still on track for their respective Q1 and Q2 2022 releases. This new version of The Witcher 3 will also contain extra items inspired by the Netflix adaptation of the series. They were originally both supposed to release during the second half of this year but were delayed to 2022.

Get a Razer Barracuda X headset for nearly half price this Cyber Monday

2 years 5 months ago

Cyber Monday is here and there are some excellent bargains on tech available, such as this 44 per cent drop on the Razer Barracuda X wireless multi-platform gaming and mobile headset. That's a saving of £44, down from £99.99 to just £55.99. This is already a really decent budget gaming headset, at an affordable price. So getting an even bigger sale deal makes the features-to-price value even more irresistible. It's also on offer in the US for $69.99 at Target.

You can use this headset wirelessly or wired with low-latency on a PC, laptop, smartphone or PS4 and PS5 console and wired with an Xbox thanks to the included USB-C dongle with USB-A extender and 1/8in TRRS cable. Sound quality is good, although there aren't any customisable features. It has a detachable Razer HyperClear Cardioid microphone that aims to suppress background noise for enhanced voice capture during gaming - and it actually does do that.

Talking accessibility with Vivek Gohil in Episode 4 of The New Eurogamer Podcast

2 years 5 months ago

It's Podcast day! And that means a brand new episode for supporters has just gone live, and the episode they listened to a fortnight ago - Episode 4, behind the push for better accessibility in games, with Vivek Gohil - is now available to all.

The tide of accessibility in games is turning, you see. Ground-breaking releases like The Last of Us Part 2, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Forza Horizon 5 have shown what can be accomplished when you think about accessibility properly - when you bring the right people on board at the beginning of development and make accessibility a priority from the off. By doing so, you open the doors for more people to enjoy your games than ever before.

DF Direct Weekly takes on Cerny's new PS5 video and the terrific Xbox Museum

2 years 5 months ago

Welcome to the 39th edition of Digital Foundry Direct Weekly - the regular show where the team downs tools for a couple of hours to discuss the latest gaming and technology news, share details on their projects and field questions from backers of the Digital Foundry Supporter Program. This week's offering kicks off with reaction to a new video from Wired with Mark Cerny discussing how the PlayStation 5 was built. It's an interesting talk, albeit one that's very similar indeed to the now iconic Road to PlayStation 5 albeit with the benefit of a year's worth of game titles that better demonstrate and emphasise the PS5's features. It's also a timely reminder of how Sony turned things around after the complications of PlayStation 3 - to double-down on communicating with developers and giving easier access to the hardware's potential.

CD Projekt Shares More Details on Cyberpunk 2077 & Witcher 3 Next-Gen Versions Development & More

2 years 5 months ago

CD Projekt hosted its financial conference call for investors and analysts, talking about its future plans for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and more.

We hear that the developer has been focusing on rebuilding positive sentiment about Cyberpunk 2077. And CD Project indeed sees “improvement of the sentiment on every platform.”

Later in the call, the studio’s executives explained that the next-generation version of Cyberpunk 2077  (which was recently delayed) is “currently in the testing phase” as they have to be sure that it’ll release “in a very, very good shape.” This requires substantial efforts since the next-gen version includes both a graphical update exploiting the potential of the consoles and a set of system-level improvements. These systems are “general to the game.” While they’re “not a revolution” they can interact with other systems, so the developers need to be sure that there is “no regression whatsoever,” so extra time for testing is needed.

About the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the situation is a “bit different” as it’s being developed by a trusted partner in collaboration with CD Projekt. The game was originally released almost seven years ago, so technology has advanced and new solutions have emerged, like ray-tracing. The update is mostly technical, applying new technologies to the old game, so the studio needs more time to implement them.

Danganronpa Decadence Review – Cardboard Cutouts Never Looked So Good

2 years 5 months ago

Danganronpa Decadence on Switch

There’s nothing quite like Danganronpa. 10 years after the release of the first game, no other visual novel series has captured the essence of the high school battle royale genre quite like Danganronpa has. The premise for all three games is always the same: a bunch of high schoolers get trapped in a school (or on a beautiful tropical island), and are forced to commit murder and get away with it if they want to escape. There’s also an evil black and white bear named Monokuma that watches over the proceedings.

Danganronpa Decadence is a collection of all three games ported for the Switch, including a small bonus: Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp. There are a few mechanics that feel rather dated, particularly in Trigger Happy Havoc, but even without any additional changes or quality-of-life tweaks, all three games have held up immensely well and they’re still an absolute joy to play through in 2021.

If you’ve somehow never heard of Danganronpa, or if you haven’t played it, the best way to describe it is Ace Attorney on acid. 16 (give or take) high schoolers get enrolled in Hope’s Peak Academy, an incredibly prestigious school that only takes in ‘ultimate’ talents that are the best of the best in their field. Not long after they get accepted into the academy, they find themselves trapped within the compound by Monokuma.

CD Projekt Grows Team Dedicated to Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion; Sales Grow But Profit Drops YoY

2 years 5 months ago

Today CD Projekt published its financial results for the third quarter of 2021, and provided more insight on its business and development pipeline.

We hear that, while sales have grown by 38% year-on-year, profit has dropped by 30% due to costs that did not apply last year including the upkeep of Cyberpunk 2077 and higher development costs for new and unannounced games early in development.

We also hear that the next-generation versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are still slated for Q1 and Q2 2022 respectively (following the recent delay)

Last, but not least, the team at work on the “major” expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 has increased in size.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Speedrunner Finishes Pokedex in One Day

2 years 5 months ago

In Pokemon, one of the main goals, and catchphrases, of the game is “Gotta catch ’em all,” prompting players to try and fill out their Pokedex by encountering and capturing every Pokemon possible in the game. For some, this goal might seem impossible, as you need to venture all over, capturing Pokemon, completing trades, and more to get every single one. For Twitch streamer SmallAnt, though, the accomplishment was all in a day’s work.

As you can see in the video below, the well-known Pokemon streamer managed to complete his entire Podex in Brilliant Diamond in just one day. To be exact, it took about 21 hours of straight streaming Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl to complete this task.

How exactly did he accomplish this monumental feat? Well, by owning both copies of the game, SmallAnt was able to trade both the starters and the exclusive Pokemon found in Shining Pearl over to Brilliant Diamond before getting the rest of the others through encounters.

2 years 5 months ago

With the legendary bounty hunter all set to return on Disney+ this Dec. 29, it’s safe to say that fans of that galaxy far, far away are on tenterhooks for the upcoming sci-fi offshoot, The Book of Boba Fett.

Yes, earlier today, we received a brand new teaser to get all you wookiee-loving nerf herders out there a wee taste of what to expect a month from today. Check out the new clip down below:

While the new video only clocks in at around thirty seconds long, there’re a few neat teases that are worth mentioning.

Interestingly, we get to see footage of the dusty desert planet of Tatooine, while Boba Fett narrates a portion of dialogue in his signature gruff voice.

Specifically, the infamous bounty hunter describes his experience as: “Left for dead on the sands of Tatooine,” with a short clip of the titular antihero recovering in what appears to be an underwater Bacta tank.

Play In The Company Of Heroes 3 Pre-Alpha Multiplayer Test Starting Tomorrow

2 years 5 months ago

Strategists ready to return to the battlefields of World War II have the chance to play in the Company of Heroes 3 pre-alpha multiplayer test starting tomorrow.

A video from developer Relic Entertainment, featuring principal producer Morain McLaughlin, details some aspects of Company of Heroes 3 players can expect to play around with during the test. While the final product will include more factions (including the Italian battalion, which will be detailed next year), players will get their hands on the American and German forces. Each military force will feature two battlegroups to explore, replacing the doctrines and commanders from previous games. These battlegroups will offer a tree of abilities, units, and upgrades to select and utilize throughout a match.

Click here to watch embedded media

The pre-alpha test will primarily be a multiplayer-focused affair, but those who wish to take on the computer-controlled AI in 1v1 or 2-player vs. 2-CPU have the option to do so. If you're playing by your lonesome against the CPU, you'll have access to the tactical pause feature not present in modes with more than one person.

Other new features available will be outfitting vehicles with side armor, a veterancy system, and verticality in maps. Relic promises more updates in 2022, including new factions, units, and mechanics to be revealed over the coming months.
