New World | GI Live

2 years 7 months ago

In an age where the MMO juggernauts of the world have spent years establishing their communities, Amazon's New World looks to break into the long-established genre. Is it successful in its attempts? We're set to find out live over on Twitch!

Click here to watch embedded media

Join Dan Tack at 11:30 a.m. CT for an early stream diving into his time in New World! The Jacket is set to show off his swanky class build, how his adventure has gone thus far, and answer any of your burning questions live in the chat.

For those who don't know, New World is more of a survival experience than that of a World of Warcraft or Star Wars: The Old Republic. Players will set out to hunt, cook, and gather while leveling up their characters before taking on the rest of the world. If that doesn't sound quite up your alley, fret not, as the game is divided into three different factions and allows you to battle your enemy combatants and take over more territory.

The Book Of Boba Fett Lands A December 29 Premiere Date, First Poster, And Details

2 years 7 months ago

The second season of The Mandalorian ended on a shocking note, with Boba Fett sitting upon a throne in Jabba the Hutt’s palace. While it looked like just another plot thread that The Mandalorian would be chasing, the words “The Book of Boba Fett” appeared on screen, and no one truly knew what to make of them? Would his story continue in a book, as the words imply? Or would his story be a strong focus within the third season of The Mandalorian? Disney quickly announced that The Book of Boba Fett was a new Disney+ series that would hit at the end of 2021, and the third season of The Mandalorian would arrive a year later.

Today, Disney revealed the first episode of The Book of Boba Fett arrives on December 29 on Disney+. The announcement comes with a teaser poster that gives us our first look at the famed bounty hunter’s return. He’s still perched atop that throne, relaxed and comfortable with the role.

Disney also released this synopsis for the series: “The Book of Boba Fett, a thrilling Star Wars adventure, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.”

Supernatural RPG Echo Generation Arrives In Late October

2 years 7 months ago

The role-playing supernatural adventure game Echo Generation is coming just in time for Halloween. The coming-of-age tale of two siblings investigating an alien encounter blasts off to Xbox consoles and PC on October 21.

We last saw Echo Generation during the 2020 Xbox Games Showcase, and it was later playable via a limited-time demo last December. Here’s a synopsis. You control Dylan, his little sister, and their friends and pets who spend the summer shooting their own alien movie. Life imitates art when an unknown object crashes into town’s cornfields, leading to a series of unfortunate and bizarre events unfolding across town. The adults don’t seem to notice, so it’s up to the kids to get to the bottom of what’s happening. With its nostalgic ‘80s/’90s vibe, it’s hard not to compare Echo Generation’s atmosphere to Stranger Things, though the game is much sillier. You fight raccoons wearing workout clothes!

This is what peak Dark Souls fitness looks like

2 years 7 months ago

Lots of people are excited for Elden Ring. You're excited for Elden Ring, I'm excited for Elden Ring, all the old folks down at your local Spoons at 10am? Yes, this is the game they contemplate over a remarkably early cold one.

This is nothing, though. This is a terrible level of excitement in comparison to abusaad3, who is more up for Elden Ring than anyone on this planet. To prove it, they're doing a no-hit boss challenge each day in Dark Souls 3 until Elden Ring is released. This is phenomenal levels of dedication and I am very here for it.

Halo Infinite's maps are vintage multiplayer jungle gyms

2 years 7 months ago

The multiplayer maps of Halos past had a devotion to footstep fairness, the principle that every step I take toward the giant laser cannon should equal one step you take toward the same brutal death-tube. Halo Infinite abides by that time-honored rule, at least judging by the recent public test.

These maps are classic Master Chief party houses, loyal to the supremacy of abstract shapes, with clarity to every corner and a pared-back art style that makes a brief glance of an enemy in a doorway pop out. Pick-ups lounge on exposed podiums like glimmering sirens. Isolated platforms furnish gravity hammers, surrounded by a grinning void. They are arenas that somehow feel both dangerous and fair. But they are something else too. They're playful.

New World Factions & Companies explained: which faction should you pick?

2 years 7 months ago

Which Faction should you pick in New World, and how do you start and join Companies? Amazon's new MMO New World features both PvP and PvE gameplay, and even though it is theoretically possible to go it alone and still enjoy some of the features, joining up with other players is a lot more fun. The complex social heirarchies of New World are divided up into Factions and Companies — two separate, but linked, types of player organisation. It can all be a bit confusing, though, so below we've laid out the difference between them, as well as how to join a Faction or Company.

Disney’s Animated Adventure Encanto Gets New Trailer Teasing Heart, Music & Magic

2 years 7 months ago

Today, Disney officially pulled back the curtain on its upcoming animated adventure pic, Encanto, in a brand new trailer. Feel free to feast your eyes on said video down below:

Set in Colombia, Encanto centers on a family who received an enchanted candle long ago. This specific candle granted them all magical powers – except for one daughter – who appears to be the main protagonist of the film. On top of this, said candle also blessed the family’s house with a bunch of miraculous powers, too.

Of course, Encanto gives off lots of signature Disney vibes. From the company’s trademark heartwarming tone to a handful of catchy musical numbers to a wonderfully eye-popping color palette, this looks set to be yet another hit for the Mouse House following Raya and the Last Dragon from earlier this year.

Encanto is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Nov. 24, 2021.

For more information about the movie, here’s a general overview courtesy of Disney:

John Carter: Warlord of Mars to Feature Renowned Author Ian Fleming

2 years 7 months ago

In the world of books, John Carter and Ian Fleming are two massive names. The former has been a well-known character for decades, while the latter is known for creating one of the most illustrious series in all of entertainment, James Bond. Thanks to the upcoming video game John Carter: Warlord of Mars, the two will now share the same stage.

This news came by way of a press release from FNCPR and Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc, the publishers in charge of the upcoming adaptation of the beloved comic and book series. The game will be a first-person action-adventure and is being developed by Tanglewood Games.

In the press release, the publishers went into depth regarding the decision to add Fleming to the game, which you can see below:

Ian Fleming, the illustrious creator of James Bond, will be characterised in a video game for the first time ever, in a planned first person adventure game titled John Carter Warlord of Mars.

Set to be released in May 2022, the all-action game is being published by FNCPR Ltd under a licence from Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc, the company that manages and licenses the creative works of novelist Edgar Rice Burroughs, on which the game is based.

The central character, John Carter, was an interplanetary warrior in a series of classic Burroughs novels, dating back to 1912. With the new game set to be available on PC and Console platforms, it is bringing the historic sci fi fantasy to a contemporary audience.

Diggory Laycock, of the Ian Fleming Estate Executive Committee and Director of Ian Fleming Publications, said, “We were intrigued when first approached with this idea and think it is a project fans of Ian Fleming will enjoy. I’m looking forward to seeing my great-uncle realised onscreen.”

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania Review

2 years 7 months ago

Nostalgia is a funny thing. It can be a comforting sensation, but it sometimes makes things from the past seem better than they actually are. Unfortunately, the latter is the case with Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, which compiles over 300 levels from previous Super Monkey Ball games and updates them for modern consoles. I have fond memories of playing the GameCube versions with friends nearly 20 years ago, so I expected Banana Mania to be a welcome return to those carefree nights staying out past curfew and rolling down increasingly difficult courses. Sadly, rollin’ just isn’t as fun as it used to be.

As the name implies, Super Monkey Ball is a series about monkeys in balls rolling their way through hundreds of stages and avoiding increasingly difficult obstacles – and yes, it’s exactly as silly as it sounds. The GameCube-era graphics have gotten an overhaul that makes the cartoony art style more vibrant than ever, and I found it hard not to bop my head to the arcadey theme music. It’s always refreshing to see games that don’t take themselves too seriously in this era of increasingly realistic graphics and serious subject matter, and Super Monkey Ball is anything but serious.

PlayStation Plus Games for October 2021 Announced

2 years 7 months ago

Sony has announced that PS5's Hell Let Loose and PS4's PGA Tour 2K21 and Mortal Kombat X are the PlayStation Plus games for October 2021.

Announced on PlayStation.Blog, all three of these games will be available from October 5 through November 1 for all PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Hell Let Loose is a WWII-inspired multiplayer game that was first released on PC in July 2021 after being in Early Access since 2019. This PS5 title includes " 100-player battles with a unique resource-based RTS-inspired meta-game, where Commanders direct the flow of battle and co-ordinate powerful in-game abilities that influence the team’s march to victory."

PGA Tour 2K21 was released back in August 2020 and is the inaugural 2K Games PGA Tour golf game. It includes 15 licensed PGA Tour courses and allows players to create both their own golfer and courses.

In our PGA Tour 2K21 review, we said that it "is the most flexible and enjoyable golf game since EA’s Tiger Woods series was at its peak. While its career mode could have done with some spit and polish to its presentation and featured more meaningful rewards, it nonetheless serves as a solid 20-hour straightaway to what could prove to be the most thriving part of PGA Tour 2K21’s dance floor in the long term; the online societies."

Mortal Kombat X was released in 2015 and was the first time each kharacter had their own selection of fightings styles to choose from.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania review - effective cover version of an all-time great

2 years 7 months ago

Let's get some important stuff out of the way up front. While Super Monkey Ball Mania is effectively a remake of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe - itself a compilation of the brilliant first two entries in Sega's simple and often supremely satisfying series - this is not the Monkey Ball of old. With new assets, a new soundtrack and oh-so-slightly reworked physics, this remake in Unity is not the Monkey Ball that once kept me up for endless sleepless nights chasing a perfect score in Monkey Target with friends. There's something flatter, duller, not quite so magical to its visuals, never mind the fact the all-important momentum you used to manage at the bottom of the slope in Monkey Ball's most cherished mini-game, and most frequently mishandled in the entries ever since, is now replaced with a rude and not-so-subtle shove into the heavens.

There's always a risk with remakes, of course, especially remakes of games as cherished as the original Super Monkey Ball - it's remarkable how strong an emotional attachment you can have to a 20-year-old game about pushing simians in hamster balls around checkerboard courses. Maybe it's nostalgia getting the better of me, but to these tired old eyes this is a remake that looks demonstrably inferior to the originals; I miss that distinctive chunk of the Sega Naomi era, or details like how the polished sheen of shimmering bonus level floors doesn't quite have that sparkle.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Tone Compared To The Empire Strikes Back By Marvel Executive

2 years 7 months ago

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 may be taking some notes from another Disney-owned property and becoming the dark chapter in Insomniac’s web-slinging story. In a short segment on the newest This Week in Marvel podcast, hosts Ryan Penagos and Lorraine Cink chat with Vice President of Creative at Marvel Games, Bill Rosemann. Rosemann discussed some of his favorite moments from the Marvel game announcements at the Sony PlayStation showcase a few weeks ago.

While discussing Spider-Man 2, Rosemann offers some details on what players can expect but still leaves us guessing on key aspects of the reveal trailer for a bit longer. He confirms there have been some changes to both suits worn by Peter and Miles and that they will be facing off against multiple foes. We know of Venom, who was teased in the first Spider-Man and revealed in the trailer, but another mystery voice is featured just before the symbiote appears. We think it sounds like Kraven the Hunter. However, Rosemann only confirms that it’s “a voice of a character who is in the game.”

The Opening Hours Of New World Are Incredible

2 years 7 months ago

There are many questions going into the launch of Amazon Games’ New World about longevity and the most important aspect of any MMORPG, the endgame experience, but what I can speak to today after a marathon session is that the early game is incredibly compelling. If you’re looking for a social MMORPG packed with PvP and the allure of Runescape farming and grinding, New World’s first twenty hours or so are crammed with experiences you will absolutely love.

Starting out in hostile lands with nothing more than a few crudely crafted tools, there’s an absolute joy in carving up rabbits, boars, and wolves to create your early-game trash gear. If you’re like me, you’re going to join a faction early on and take territory that you’ll have to defend as well, so the game can alternate between the simple pleasures of farming up carrots, silver, cabbage, and a wide variety of alchemic plants and hardcore PVP battles. The combat is perhaps one of the weakest points in the game in terms of depth and interest, but it shockingly doesn’t seem to matter here because the real enjoyment comes from bringing back a haul to your outpost and churning out specialty-crafted goods. Last night, I made a bag. It lets me hold a ton more loot. It might not seem like much, but making awesome stuff for myself and my guildmates feels seriously great. There’s just a little taste of survival games here, and it’s a dash of tasty seasoning.

So you were lucky enough to buy an elusive PlayStation 5? Wow, those things are tough to find! However, after setting up your new PS5 and downloading the best games that the console has to offer, your hard drive will quickly start running out of space. These next-gen games are massive, so we’re here to show you how to upgrade your PS5 storage with this easy internal SSD and heatsink install guide.

Before we get started, you need to make sure the internal solid-state drive you’re trying to install matches the PlayStation 5’s requirements. From the PlayStation Support page, Sony recommends a PCI-Express Gen4x4 supported M.2 NVMe SSD (Key M) with a read speed of 5,500MB/S or faster and a capacity of 250GB to 4TB. In our past experience building PCs, we recommend storage products from Samsung or Western Digital; however, you should abide by the specifications in the graph below regardless of which model you buy.

Watch Mario & Luigi Perform “Pepe Silvia” From It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

2 years 7 months ago

Even if you aren’t a huge fan of movies, you’ve likely heard the news that Nintendo and Illumination are teaming up to bring an animated Mario movie to the silver screen. At the most recent Nintendo Direct, even more news about the film was revealed, as Shigeru Miyamoto presented the all-star cast that would be voicing each iconic role.

Ever since the cast reveal, the internet has exploded with plenty of memes, including everything from Super Mario Guardians of the Galaxy to a Stoned Donkey Kong. One of the most popular memes revolved around Charlie Day being cast as Luigi, with just about everyone envisioning the chaotic energy the actor brings to his role as Charlie in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

With that in mind, one Youtuber, TOGK, went out of their way to recreate arguably Day’s most iconic scene from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Mail Conspiracy Theory, overlayed to an animated Source Filmmaker version of Mario and Luigi. You can see the hilarious result below.

Earth Defense Force 6 Confirmed for PS5 & PS4

2 years 7 months ago

Today’s issue of Weekly Famitsu included an article on D3 Publisher’s Earth Defense Force 6, and it finally confirmed its platforms.

The game will be released for both PS5 and PS4, confirming the speculation due to the fact that it has always been showcased with a PlayStation controller. We also learn that it’ll release in 2022.

Incidentally, considering the controller used, it’s likely that the footage we’ve seen so far was from the PS4 version.

We’ll likely see more of the game at Tokyo Game Show. D3 Publisher’s livestream is scheduled for tomorrow (September 30) at 9.00 pm Japan Time. It could be the perfect chance to debut a look at the PS5 version, but for now, we’ll have to wait and see.

Of course, you can expect full coverage here on Twinfinite as soon as the livestream airs.

At the moment, no western release has been announced for the game, but D3 Publisher has been doing a good job at localizing its games, so there is certainly hope.
