Halo Infinite Brings Back Old Trick To Let You Punch At Speed Of Light

2 years 8 months ago

Now that the Halo Infinite multiplayer beta has gone live, players are tinkering around with it and making all manner of fun discoveries, and this includes what looks like the return of a popular exploit. Players have discovered that the BXB/BXR trick, which lets you perform melee attacks in quick succession, appears to be supported in Halo Infinite.

A clip posted on Reddit shows this off in action. It looks very extreme, and the audio really amplifies the intensity of the exploit. The author of the post, CraftZ49, believes this will be patched out before launch, but it doesn't appear that 343 has yet to address this. The fact that this is only being discovered now, during the second Halo Infinite beta, suggests that this was not possible in the first test back in July.

These types of exploits were featured in previous Halo games, including Halo 2 most prominently. It was never patched out of the game, and it became a popular tactic among groups of users.

Halo Infinite is specifically being designed as a live-service game that grows, evolves, and changes over time based on feedback. Whether or not BXB/BXR in Halo Infinite proves to be an issue that materially impacts the game might determine if it stays or gets patched out.

Life is Strange Remastered Collection Launches on February 1, 2022

2 years 8 months ago

Square Enix has announced that the Life is Strange Remastered Collection will launch on February 1, 2022, for Google Stadia, PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. It will include remastered versions of Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm. The collection is also playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S via backward compatibility.

Both games will have remastered character and environmental visuals, as well as a new engine and light upgrades. Additionally, Life is Strange will have fully motion-captured facial animations. Before the Storm includes the original deluxe edition content, which consists of outfits and the Farewell episode.

The Life is Strange Remastered Collection was originally set to launch on September 30. However, the game was then delayed to early 2022 due to difficulties in development, as well as alleviate pressure since the studio was also putting final touches on Life is Strange: True Colors.

In our Life is Strange: Before the Storm review, Justin Clark says, "It's rare that a prequel truly works, where a story can captivate despite the audience knowing what's coming and where the path will lead. Life Is Strange: Before The Storm is one of those exceptional stories because it draws you in on its own terms."

Halo Infinite Dev Responds To Aim Assist PC Concerns

2 years 8 months ago

A Halo Infinite developer has responded to a gameplay video making the rounds about the sci-fi shooter's use of aim assist on PC. Lead sandbox designer Quinn DelHoyo shared some important context about what's actually happening in an attempt to downplay concerns about it.

DelHoyo explained that this video looks like an extreme example of aim assist--because it is. The player has gone AFK and the game moves the crosshairs onto the enemy as part of the aim assist feature, which is popular in many online shooters. DelHoyo pointed out that, had the player touched the mouse (or controller, presumably), aim-assist would be "instantly disabled."

"Once movement stops, it takes half a second to enable again. This does not come into effect during gameplay," DelHoyo said.

Halo Infinite Multiplayer Beta Leak Includes Never-Before-Seen Weapons

2 years 8 months ago

Halo Infinite's second multiplayer technical preview is currently live, and it didn't take long for players to discover new weapons that had been previously undisclosed.

Tucked away in a custom game settings menu is what appears to be the full list of Halo Infinite weapons. There are 22 in total, and the list includes never-before-seen weapons called the Disruptor and Cindershot.

Some players have managed to enable custom games in the preview build, allowing them to take the new weapons, and a few returning favorites, for a test spin. From gameplay footage of the weapons in action (which can be seen above), the Disruptor looks to be an electricity-based sidearm, while the Cindershot appears to be a Forerunner-type weapon that can fire bouncing, explosive balls of energy.
