Six Hours With Garden Story, A Zelda-Like For The Stardew Crowd

2 years 7 months ago

When I first watched the trailer for Garden Story, I was reminded of one of my favorite Game Boy Advance games from my childhood. I wasn’t given much money as a kid, so I would stand at the GameStop demo booth and play The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap for hours on end. I wanted Garden Story to be just like the…

The Oakland A’s Did an Amazing Star Wars Tribute Using 200 Drones

2 years 7 months ago

Whether it is the actual games they play or the fireworks they shoot off to celebrate, baseball has always managed to do some amazing things when it comes to entertainment. The recent Star Wars tribute that the Oakland A’s just pulled off might be the best one we’ve ever seen.

As you can see in the post below, made to the Star Wars subreddit by imflukeskywalker, the Oakland A’s baseball team put on quite the performance using drones.

Set to The Imperial March, the tribute shows everything from the Yoda to R2D2. Near the end of the performance, the drones even have a lightsaber battle and also manage to blow up the Death Star using a baseball bat. It was an amazing thing to see, and is made even more special knowing that Oakland is the birthplace of Mark Hamill, aka Luke Skywalker in Star Wars.

The show was put on by a company called Sky Elements, who had the following description of the event:

5 Reasons Coromon Is More Than Just Another Pokemon Clone

2 years 7 months ago

Coromon is a monster tamer/creature collector RPG by TRAGsoft that puts its own twist on a classic formula from the GBA era of games. Most people will make Pokemon comparisons right away, but Coromon offers enough content in terms of gameplay, story, and game-changing features to make sure that those comparisons are positive ones.

TRAGsoft did name Nintendo’s popular RPG as a main influence, yet their game still manages to stand out in its own way. Here are five reasons that fans of Pokemon should keep an eye on Coromon.

Modernized Pixel Art

Coromon Battles Teaser

One of the first things that any fan of the GBA-era Pokemon games will notice is the pixel art style that Coromon uses. It capitalizes on that nostalgic feeling while modernizing the look in ways that its influences couldn’t, thanks to the technology of today.

Microsoft Flight Simulator – Amami Airport Review (Simulación Extrema)

2 years 7 months ago

Third-party developer Simulación Extrema recently released Amami Airport (RJKA) for Microsoft Flight Simulator, providing a new destination in Japan.

It serves the beautiful Amami Oshima, one of the largest islands between Kyushu and Okinawa. While it isn’t a large hub, it isn’t as small as most Japanese island airports and it’s served by multiple daily airline flights operating up to Airbus A320s and Boeing 737s.

Due to that, even if you’re interested in airliners more than in general aviation, you can definitely operate here even without waiting for the release for Microsoft Flight Simulator of turboprops like the ATRs and Dash-8s. The relatively short 6,562′ (2000m) runway creates a nice challenge when landing with bigger aircraft.

The add-on is available on SimMarket for approximately $15, and comes with its own installer. It’ll also come to the official marketplace for both PC and Xbox soon.

2 years 7 months ago

Today Microsoft Flight Simulator third-party developer Ouroboros provided new screenshots of its upcoming Embraer E170.

The screenshots are work-in-progress, but they’re already very promising, showcasing both the exterior model, the flight deck, and the wing view.

According to the developers, the flight deck is nearing its beta stage and the team is continuing to optimize it for textures and animations.

The exterior still needs some love, but many shading errors have been corrected and some new parts will be remade soon.

One of the most attractive features of the aircraft is certainly the fact that it’ll be distributed for free. If you’d like to follow its development, you can join Ouroboros’ Discord server.

Mythic Legions Is Bringing Their Figurine Universe To Video Games

2 years 7 months ago

Four Horsemen Studios is bringing their toy line into the video game universe with Mythic Legions Tactics: War of the Aetherblade. The figurines feature interchangeable parts and custom options, so players have been able to build their own takes on classic fantasy archetypes like skeletons, ogres, knights, goblins, and more. While the toys-to-life craze may have died down in recent years, Four Horsemen is bringing the universe they’ve created in the wargaming figure world directly into games with tactical game. Makes sense, right? I mean, if you were going to attempt to emulate the tabletop fantasy gaming world, it would probably have to be something turn-based and tactical in order to capture the source essence. You can see things in a pre-alpha state in this trailer below!

If you’ve never seen the Mythic Legions figure line, they’re impressive. How that is going to translate into a game in its final form is always a question, but at least the team has a great foundation to start from. Mythic Legions Tactics: War of the Aetherblade is slated to hit with a free-to-play multiplayer battle mode with a purchasable single-player mode that contains a ton of battles, characters, races, and a bunch of other things that get unlocked for multiplayer as you progress.

Roguelike Golf Adventure Cursed To Golf Coming To Switch And PC In 2022

2 years 7 months ago

A roguelike golf adventure? It’s more likely than you think. As genres continue to collide, Chuhai Labs and Thunderful Publishing are teeing off with Cursed to Golf in 2022. What platforms is this golfy charmer coming to? Nintendo Switch and PC! Yep, you play as a golfer attempting to escape Golf Purgatory, with 18 holes (dungeons) to get through and 4 biomes. It’s a bizarre mashup of genres as you head into turn-based challenges in 2D side-scrolling golf, with all the fun stuff you’d find on regular golf courses served up in a more interesting way.

That means players face down water, rough, bunkers, and a whole slew of more twisted fare that only makes sense in this golfish-afterlife-thing. So get ready to take on fans, spikes, explosives, and a whole lot more, stuff that would put your local mini-golf course soiree to shame. Check out the trailer below for a taste of what Golf Purgatory is all about. Alongside the turn-based roguelike stuff, there’s apparently some Metroidvania elements too – why not, right?

And Now, Mario Kart Tracks In Flight Simulator

Take Inkulinati's sketchy medieval tactics for a turn in its new demo

2 years 7 months ago

Medieval manuscript battler Inkulinati is amusing just in its trailers, but there's more slapstick enjoyment in playing it yourself. If you'd not gotten the chance before, not to worry. You're getting another swing at this rather Monty Python-inspired tactical game about nuns and hares battling it out as commanded by your quill. Inkulinati has another demo on for those of us who enjoy a bit of body humor and other silliness with our serious strategy games. You can snag it to try for yourself right now.

The Incredible Hulk

Going all the way back to 2008 before Mark Ruffalo was even a glimmer in the eye of Kevin Feige, Edward Norton was the actor to bring Bruce Banner to life on the big screen in The Incredible Hulk — not to be confused with the 2003 Universal Pictures movie simply titled Hulk. But Banner’s nemesis in this movie is the focus of the topic at hand today.

Everything We Know About Deathloop

2 years 7 months ago

We have been following the news about Deathloop closely since it was revealed at the Bethesda 2019 E3 conference, even featuring it on the cover of one of our issues. A lot has happened in the two years since its announcement, including a deal that brought Bethesda-owned studios under Microsoft’s umbrella, which made everyone question whether the title would continue as a PlayStation 5 console-exclusive.

As far as the game’s journey, it seems that Deathloop’s development was a case of life imitating art. The game went through a cycle of getting delayed, showing off details in a Sony showcase, getting delayed, and showing off more details in Sony's State of Play. But it looks like the loop is about to break since the stylish first-person shooter has gone gold and is just around the corner. To make sure you have all the info you need on release day, here’s everything we know about Deathloop:

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous Shows Off In Launch Trailer

2 years 7 months ago

The last decade has provided players with a wealth of CRPGs to explore; the classic isometric days of roleplaying are definitely not forgotten. Pathfinder: Kingmaker’s successor, Wrath of the Righteous, lands this week on PC. Playing on console? Fear not. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is scheduled to hit PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 1, 2022. Okay, so that’s a little ways away, but it’s nice to see that games that would once be PC-only fare are getting excellent translations to console, taking into consideration the sweeping changes needed to shift from mouse-and-keyboard to controller gameplay. Check out the launch trailer right here.

Click here to watch embedded media

Wrath of the Righteous as a CRPG gives you one major option, whereas many other genre titles are locked into one school of thought. Yes, you can choose to play as either real-time with pause or pure turn-based. This gives players the freedom to pick a playset that works for them, whether they want to channel the classic Black Isle vibes or simply work within pure turn windows. You can switch between these game modes as you wish in-game, so you can experiment and find the one that works for you.

Blast big alien bees in the demo for retro Metroidvania shooter Biota

2 years 7 months ago

Suiting up as a mercenary member of the Gemini II squad to dive into a mine crawling with alien creatures to harvest precious Viridium sounds sounds right off the back of an ancient cartridge box. That's definitely by design, because B.I.O.T.A is a Metroidvania 'em up with a rather retro face. It's also a shooter with some nice modern concessions like manual saves and teleportation escapes for those of us who have nightmares about the platformers of yore. You can take a shot at it in Biota's demo before it launches in full later this year.

The Resident Evil Movie Reboot’s First Images are Out, and It Actually Looks Promising

2 years 7 months ago

It was announced a while back that the Resident Evil franchise was getting a live-action movie reboot, and this time around, it’d go for a scarier, grittier take than what we’d seen from the Paul Anderson movies. The first images for the movie, dubbed Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, are officially out and you know what? They don’t look awful.

According to an interview with IGN, film director Johannes Roberts stated that Welcome to Raccoon City was “all about returning to the games and creating a movie that was much more a horror movie than the sort of sci-fi action of the previous films.” Roberts was heavily inspired by the Resident Evil 2 remake and wanted to capture the atmosphere and tone of that game, which resulted in a movie that felt “dark and grimy.”

You can check out the first images down below, which feature Kaya Scodelario (star of Skins UK series 1, 2, and Skins Fire) as Claire Redfield, and Avan Jogia as Leon Kennedy in their iconic outfits from the second game. We also get a glimpse of Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine in a beautiful looking shot of the Spencer Mansion, and a shot of Lisa Trevor.
