Mortal Kombat Movie Video Introduces the Cast
Today Warner Bros. Pictures released a new video featurette about its upcoming Mortal Kombat movie.
The featurette introduces the cast that will play the familiar characters of the popular video game franchise as they talk about the production.
You can watch it below and take a look at a previous trailer.
Mortal Kombat will debut in theaters on April 16, 2021 and will arrive on HBO Max 31 days afterward.
“Inspired by the blockbuster video game franchise, which most recently enjoyed the most successful video game launch in its history with Mortal Kombat 11, “Mortal Kombat” features MMA fighter Cole Young, a brand new character to the Mortal Kombat universe, played by Lewis Tan (“Deadpool 2,” Netflix’s “Wu Assassins”).
Save me Mr. Tako returns with a definitive edition, physical release, and one bit of bad news for current owners
The reception for Save me Mr. Tako upon its release in 2018 didn't really play out the way developer Christophe Galati thought it would. A passion project for fans of the Game Boy and Super Game Boy, its initial response wasn't encouraging, with perfectly valid complaints about its difficulty, camera, and movement. Normally, a game would receive a patch or two to address these complaints. But Galati couldn't do that as the game's publisher, Nicalis, wouldn't foot the bill for it. After two years, Galati split with Nicalis and Mr. Tako was delisted from digital storefronts.
On May 5, the 8-bit octopus is coming back with a new definitive edition and a physical release from the folks at Limited Run Games. Save me Mr. Tako: Definitive Edition will release for Nintendo Switch and Steam, and it will include a host of improvements over the original title. Some of these include:

Global PS5, Xbox & GPU Shortage Partially Blamed On $1 Parts
As we talked about last week, the global supply shortage affecting all kinds of products, from consoles to phones to cars, is down to a lack of semiconductors. More specifically, though, one of the biggest culprits is a shortage of tiny parts that cost around $1.
When My Disco Elysium Character Gave Up I Was Like Yeah, I Get It
I have never felt more in tune with a video game character than when Disco Elysium’s detective protagonist, his morale utterly devastated after a series of failed skill checks, tells his partner to fuck off and prematurely brings the game to a close.

Discord Deleted Thousands Of Violent Extremist And Criminal Servers In 2020
Thanks to the endlessly depressing extent to which covid has kept everybody trapped inside, Discord is more relevant than ever. G4 and the WWE Warms up With a Gaming Competition in Fall
If you have been hankering for a return to the good old days of gaming competitions on television, but not the esports kind, then you should be taking notice. The revival of gaming network G4 is now taking the next step with a video game competition series in partnership with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and will be fronted by WWE superstar Xavier Woods.
The project is still currently unnamed, but will see the previously announced first on-air talent Woods, also known as Austin Creed, take hosting duties.
“Getting a shot to be a G4 cast member is incredible and humbling in itself, and I couldn’t be more excited for the chance to have my own show,” Woods explained.
“Not only will I host, but I’ll also have a pivotal role to play as the top personalities in gaming try to settle their beef.”
The show will be part of G4’s programming. In essence, it will “pit some of the biggest content creators in gaming against each other, playing some of the most popular video games to settle scores.”
“This partnership combines WWE’s sports-entertainment and G4’s competitive entertainment to bring a truly unique offering only these brands can offer,” added Brian Terwilliger, VP of programming and creative strategy for G4. “The format of the show, along with WWE Superstar Xavier Woods AKA Austin Creed’s electric presence on-screen, will make it appealing for gamers, WWE fans, and those new to both as well.”

Wizardry VA Showcased With New Teaser Trailer; Coming in 2022
Today Drecom released a teaser trailer of an upcoming 3D dungeon-crawling RPG titled Wizardry VA for mobile platforms.
The title is just a working one for now, so we can expect it to change, but the imagery in the trailer will certainly prove familiar to those who know of the long-running Wizardry series.
The game is planned for a launch in 2022. Incidentally, we also know that it’ll be released both in Japan and worldwide.
This is not the first time the game is teased. Another teaser was launched a few months ago, but this one offers a better look at the visuals.
You can watch it below.
The Wizardry series started in the west in 1981, and evolved with several games until Wizardry 8 in 2001.
In the meanwhile, the franchise was also adopted in Japan starting in 1991, spawning its own subseries that far outlived the western counterpart, with a ton of games for different platforms that spanned three decades.
Metroid Prime 2D fan demo released
There's now a playable demo of Metroid Prime 2D, an ambitious fan attempt to remake the GameCube classic as a side-scroller, and fans are rushing to download it before Nintendo inevitably deletes it from the internet.
Metroid Prime 2D reimagines Retro Studios' brilliant first-person adventure as one of the franchise's earlier 2D side-scrollers. A team of fans have been working on the idea on-and-off since April 2004 using original artwork, music and sounds inspired by the original.
"Instead of copying the source material exactly, we are instead focused on taking the core concepts, translating those, and then implementing them in a logical 2D solution," the team wrote in a new blog post.

Borderlands' Cinematic Universe Is Officially Different To the Borderlands Video Game Universe
To the interested: The Borderlands Cinematic Universe is not identical to the Borderlands Videogame Universe. We are authentic to characters, tone and style, but allow for independent storylines. The mediums are not the same, so the content should not be bound to the same rules.
Totally Accurate Battle Simulator added multiplayer and left early access
Directing armies in battles can be such a chore—'go here,' 'kill that', 'retreat there'—when sometimes I just want to see a big daft rumble. That's Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, the game about building armies and just seeing what happens. It gets a touch silly, between the ragdoll physics and a roster of units which includes vikings, cavemen, Roman legionaries, pirates, wooly mammoths, tanks, dragons, skeletons, and angels. After a few years in early access, TABS has finally hit version 1.0, and has added multiplayer too.
Marvel's Avengers and Borderlands 3 join PlayStation Now lineup
This month's PlayStation Now lineup has been announced, and starting today, subscribers will now have access to Marvel's Avengers, Borderlands 3 and The Long Dark.
As announced in the official blog post, Marvel's Avengers will be available on PlayStation Now until 5th July, while Borderlands 3 will be available until 29th September. It looks like The Long Dark will remain on the service for the foreseeable future, as Sony has not given a removal date for the game. Both Marvel's Avengers and Borderlands 3 will be released on PlayStation Now in their PS4 versions (thanks, IGN).
To accompany the addition of these games, Sony is also launching a free seven-day trial for PlayStation Now, which will be available from tomorrow onwards.
Homefront Easter egg designed to make TimeSplitters 2 fully playable
We've known for years that Homefront: The Revolution hides an arcade cabinet where you can play a couple of levels from TimeSplitters 2. Now, evidence has come to light that the entirety of TimeSplitters 2's campaign was designed to be fully playable in native 4K.
Why can't you play the rest? Well, unfortunately, an unlock code designed to open up the rest of Free Radical Design's PS2 classic has been lost to time - via an unfortunate Discord ban.
Let's rewind back to the 2014 release of Homefront: The Revolution, the work of Deep Silver Dambuster Studios. The developer is the latest incarnation of the Nottingham-based company formerly known as Crytek UK, and before that, Free Radical Design itself.
Oddworld: Soulstorm launches with a couple of significant bugs
This week marks the grand return of the Oddworld series, with Lorne Lanning's reimagining of 1998's Oddworld: Abe's Exodus hitting PC, PS4 and PS5 today - though unfortunately it does so with a couple of bugs that could well inhibit your progress.
Review copies for Oddworld Inhabitants' game were released yesterday, with a note on the bugs that have shipped alongside the game. "There have been a few instances in our testing over the Easter weekend where Abe gets stuck in an infinite falling loop," reads the note to reviewers. "This happens when jumping, falling, or death isinterrupted over a single (just one) frame by another state."
If players encounter the bug, which freezes Abe in place, they're advised to reset to the last checkpoint, where they'll be able to resume progress. Another bug seems to be specific to PS4 Pro and PS4 consoles, which results in players being booted to the home screen. Both bugs are being addressed for an imminent patch, and the developer notes that neither will result in players losing and save data.
Respawn tells disgruntled Titanfall community "help is coming ASAP" after years of DDOS attacks made online "unplayable"
Respawn has finally declared it is prepared to tackle long-running problems with Titanfall on PC.
In a tweet, the developer said "help is coming ASAP" in response to ongoing DDOS attacks that affect those trying to play the first-person shooter online.
Titanfall has had multiplayer issues on PC for years now, and they are blamed on a somewhat mythical figure known in the community as "Jeanue".
The 11 best PS5 games to play in 2021
The PlayStation 5 is still young as far as consoles go - and still very hard to get hold of. But it already has a burgeoning list of terrific games to try. Of course, it will also play almost the entire PS4 back catalogue via backwards compatibility, so even at this early stage you are overwhelmed with choice. To help you narrow that particular choice down, head over to our best PS4 games list, which has some cracking recommendations, from the classic to the unsung.
For this list, we're focusing purely on actual PS5 games, which means games that are exclusive to the console (of which there are only a couple at present, like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart), cross-generational releases that launch on PS4 at the same time (like Hitman 3), and earlier PS4 games that have been updated with significant PS5-only patches (like Control: Ultimate Edition). As the machine is so young, we've restricted ourselves to just 11 picks, but you can expect this list to grow quickly as the library for Sony's latest machine is fleshed out.
The debate about From Software's best will rage on until the last embers have died out, but there's no arguing which game started it all. 2009's Demon's Souls not only birthed a genre but raised the bar on murky video game adventures, gifting us with deep lore scratched into the stonework, exquisite combat that has you clanking iron against armour and atmosphere that's to die for.
The whole world has fallen in love with Guilty Gear Strive's Ramlethal Valentine
What an amazing feat. It has been revealed that the global Guilty Gear community has fallen head over heels for Ramlethal Valentine, the beautiful, war-mongering diva of Arc System Works' luscious fighting game franchise. The revelation of Ram's popularity came as part of an update on GG Strive's development process, ahead of the game's official release on PlayStation and PC June 11.
The newest developer diary sees GG Strive director Akira Katano address stats and feedback taken from the anime fighter's February beta test, which afforded players the opportunity to throw down in nail-biting head-to-head gameplay. ArcSys' then asked said players to contact the developer with their thoughts on the beta, which they did in droves. And it seems, for the most part, that everyone's experience was mostly positive. Responding to the wave of feedback, Katano notes that while some of the issues raised will be addressed before launch, others are simply part of GG Strive's intended design, and will be left relatively untouched.
