Valorant’s New Agent, Astra, Officially Revealed in First Trailer
And, there she is! Following a week of teases, leaks, and speculation, Valorant’s 15th Agent has been officially revealed today after a leaked Russian trailer spilled the beans.
Her name is Astra, and as it turns out, most of the speculation was actually on point: Astra is a controlling Agent who uses “stars” to flash, smoke, and concuss enemies, as well as having the option to turn stars into gravity wells that pulls them toward their center.
There’s no official release date yet for Astra, but it’s safe to assume she’ll be part of Act II when it launches some time next week.
Here’s a full overview of Atra’s abilities:
Nebula – Activate a Star to transform it into a Nebula (smoke).
Nova Pulse – Activate a Star to detonate a Nova Pulse. The Nova Pulse charges briefly then strikes, concussing all players in its area.
Gravity Well – Activate a Star to form a Gravity Well. Players in the area are pulled toward the center before it explodes, making all players still trapped inside fragile.
Dissipate – Use (F) on a Star to Dissipate it, returning the star to be placed in a new location after a delay. Dissipate briefly forms a fake Nebula at the Star’s location before returning.
Astral Form / Cosmic Divide – Activate to enter Astral Form where you can place Stars with primary fire. Stars can be reactivated later, transforming them into a Nova Pulse, Nebula, or Gravity Well. When Cosmic Divide is charged, use secondary fire in Astral Form to begin aiming it, then primary fire to select two locations. An infinite Cosmic Divide connects two points you select. Cosmic Divide blocks bullets and heavily dampens audio.
E3 2021 Reportedly Canceled as Physical Event
If you were hoping to enjoy the return of E3 as a physical event in 2021, you’re likely to be disappointed.
The Board of Los Angeles Convention and Tourism Development published a document (via Resetera user Rösti) that mentions that the physical live event is canceled for 2021, while broadcast options are being worked on, alongside the license for 2022 and 2023.
With the COVID-19 pandemic still active, this likely shouldn’t sound too surprising. The same happened last year.
The Entertainment Software Association has not provided any specific information on its E3 plans for this year, so we don’t exactly know what form it will take.
It’s likely that we’ll see some form of livestreamed event, and I would be surprised if we didn’t see the usual broadcasted conferences in a similar period.
We already know that the Summer Game Fest, which last year served as some sort of replacement HUB for what would usually be included in the E3 celebrations, is coming back this year as well., so that’s something to look forward to if you enjoy the chaotic and exciting period of summer announcements and reveals.
For now, we’ll have to wait for an announcement by the ESA and see what they’re planning. That being said, it’s advisable to avoid making travel plans for Los Angeles in June.
The Caligula Effect 2 for PS4 & Nintendo Switch Gets First Trailer & Gameplay Aplenty
Today FuRyu hosted a livestream to introduce its upcoming JRPG Caligula 2, or The Caligula Effect 2 as it’s going to be called in the west.
The trailer provides a rather extensive overview of the cast, also showcasing some gameplay.
Yet, if that gameplay isn’t enough, don’t worry, as there’s plenty more (from what appears to be the PS4 version) in the recording of the livestream, which you can check out in the second video.
Which of Pokemon's cast of critters has your energy?
In the 25 years since its original inception, the Pokémon universe has grown from just a handful of lead critters to a ridiculous menagerie of monsters. The designs tend to get a little weirder and more abstract as the developers run low on animals, plants and... erm... fashions to adapt, but each and every evolution is always bursting with life, character, and personality.
Even if, like myself, you aren't a big-time Pokémon fan, it can be easy to see elements of yourself in some of the little dudes and dudettes. For my part, I see elements of my style (and resting face) in Gothitelle, hunger for validation in Jigglypuff, and my... well let's face it... a whole lot of me in Snorlax. But I think I have the energy of no single Pokémon more than Generation VII's Mimikyu - relating to its lonesome nature, its desire to be part of the pack, the masks it wears in efforts to fit in, its occasionally overly friendly nature, and its inability to keep its physical head of the dang ground.
Above all else, however, we're also both super-duper totes adorbs.

Over 1000 World of Warcraft Classic players band together to create a "fresh" levelling experience
Over one thousand World of Warcraft players are banding together to create a "fresh" experience in the Classic version of the game.
In the absence of incoming fresh servers - that is, brand new, starting from phase one vanilla servers for World of Warcraft Classic - those who only now fancy playing the famous MMO as it was in 2004 face playing on realms filled with maximum level players and botting.
In response, players came together en masse to "reboot" the vanilla experience on one of the least populated servers.

Japanese Prefecture Celebrates Pokemon 25th Anniversary With Slowpoke X Udon Collaboration Products
The Kagawa Prefecture in Japan is well known for its popular Sanuki Udon noodles, but Pokemon fans also know it for the association with Slowpoke.
In order to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise, a bunch of products is going to be launched as part of a collaboration between the “Udon Prefecture” and Slowpoke.
The association is a lot more evident to Japanese fans, as Slowpoke’s original name is Yadon, making the wordplay rather obvious
The product lineup includes a set of “Genuine Udon Slowpoke Keychains and Brooches” made by hand using salt, water, and flour, which are the same ingredients used to make the Sanuki Udon.
If you’d rather have something actually edible, you can get the Slowpoke Oidemai Pocket that contains 300 grams of Oidemai rice native of Kagawa in a handy pocket-sized bag.
If you’d like something spicier, the Galarian Slowpoke Curry Udon may be for you, containing two servings of spicy curry noodles topped by the local Kagawa confectionery named “Oiri.”
Keeping up with the spicy theme, the next product is the Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke chili peppers, which are pretty much what you expect. You get both coarse ground and finely ground local ghost peppers named “Kagawa Mototaka,” which you can use on udon noodles or as an accent for your own cooking.
“Pokemon Stand Udon Prefecture X Slowpoke” vending machines will be installed at local Pokemon centers selling original collaboration project like stuffed dolls. They will have an original unique design featuring Slowpoke, unlike the standard Pikachu design that you can see in the gallery below. The final design has not been revealed just yet.
Last, but not least, Slowpoke mailboxes will be installed in collaboration with Japan post.

Hu Tao is the spooky 77th director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, presiding over all manner of funeral services in Liyue, and she's coming to Genshin Impact soon. Of course, that's if you're lucky enough to get her out of the gacha. Hu Tao has an adorable little ghost companion that syncs up and synergizes with her core mechanics, which seem to hinge around self-injury for massive damage boosts. Why did I wait so long to play Pokemon Trading Card Game?
Growing up, I had a friend who was very into the Star Wars Customizable Card Game. He carried two binders with him throughout the fifth grade: one for his school work and one for all of his cards. I don't know if he actually played it with other people -- I certainly didn't know of anyone else at school who was into it -- but he loved to break that binder out at lunch to show us all the new cards he'd bought over the weekend. If YouTube was a thing back when we were kids, he'd probably have a channel of nothing but him opening booster packs that makes $125,000 a year.
I didn't get the appeal of collectible card games, and as I grew up and was introduced to more of them, that opinion didn't change. But in 2004, I started to soften to the idea of playing a game built around collecting cards and managing decks. That was the year Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories came out, and while I know its battle system is a major point of contention, it grabbed me hook, line, and sinker. I loved going through the menus trying to assemble the best deck possible, and out of that game, I found myself ready to give the genre a go. Or, at the very least, a video game version of it.
Unfortunately, the first two games I played were SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters DS and Marvel Trading Card Game. Nothing will turn a newcomer away from card games faster than something as shitty as those titles. Whatever goodwill in the genre Chain of Memories planted in me was dead by the time I gleefully traded them into GameStop for $2.
