Animal Crossing: New Horizons Sanrio Crossover Is Perfect For Hello Kitty Fans

3 years 2 months ago

In January, Nintendo announced an Animal Crossing: New Horizons Sanrio crossover would be happening with a new card pack. Still, the company didn't show off exactly what these cards will bring to the calming simulator game. Now, we've got our first look at the adorable Hello Kitty items (plus other Sanrio properties) and villagers coming to our islands when the new pack arrives next month.

My Meloy, Hello Kitty, and Keroppi are all making their way to islands everywhere with new villagers, items, and styles to don celebrating all things Sanrio. Check out what's on the way next month with the full card reveal below:

The trailer above reveals a few returning faces from Animal Crossing: New Leaf, including Marty, Etoile, Chai, Toby, Chelsea, and Rilla. Players can also scan the cards over at Harv's island for a few exclusive Sanrio-themed posters as well.

The Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Pack arrives on March 26 exclusively at Target for those interested. The only problem with this trailer is now I don't know who I'm going to possibly kick off my island because I need more Marty in my life...

Decisions, decisions.

Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes Coming To Switch This Year

3 years 2 months ago

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl released in North America in 2007 on Nintendo's DS handheld, and now today's fans will get a chance to revisit these installments with a new, modern makeover. Announced during today's Pokémon Presents festivities, this pair of games – called Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl – is coming to Switch later in 2021.

Though it may not have been the biggest reveal during the show (that honor belongs to Pokémon Legends Arceus), it's still an exciting opportunity to jump into the classic Pokémon formula with a fresh spin.

According to The Pokémon Company's Takato Utsunomiya, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are "faithful remakes" of the games originally released 15 years ago. The most obvious change is the distinct visual overhaul, but fans can undoubtedly expect other tweaks to the experience while retaining the core elements that made the original releases so well-received.

Watch New Pokémon Snap's Latest Gameplay Walkthrough

3 years 2 months ago

New Pokémon Snap got some spotlight during today’s 25th anniversary stream, showing off the game in action and how players can lure and capture the best photos.

The game is set in the Lental region, a biodiverse area where players will explore a jungle, desert, and underwater areas. The world is teeming with wildlife, with various types of Pokémon as far as the eye can see. The game has a who-who of monsters, including legendary and mythical types such as Celebi. Between the creature animations and the game's vibrant presentation, New Pokémon Snap looks very nice as far as visuals go.

Like the original N64 game, luring Pokémon into the perfect shot involves tossing food to get their attention. You can also use special lures to make any Pokémon glow or change the color of their attacks to really jazz up those shots. While just snapping pics of Pokémon doing their thing will satisfy Professor Mirror to an extent, capturing rare behavior (like a Raichu surfing) nets you more stars upon review. That means determined photographers will have to get creative, and exercise more patience, to immortalize those one-in-a-million moments in film.

New Pokémon Game Is An Open-World Story Set In Feudal-Style Sinnoh Region, Pokémon Legends Arceus

3 years 2 months ago

Nintendo is celebrating all things Pokémon today and one of the announcements showed off the latest game in the iconic franchise, a title that takes a page from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with a stunning open world set in the Sinnoh region for Generation 4. The latest Pokémon adventure is Pokémon Legends Arceus.

One of the coolest aspects of the new game is that trainers aren't just in the "gotta catch 'em all" mindset, now players can ride their Pokémon to ride, to fly on, or to run with. It's an entirely different way to interact with the pocket monsters that we've come to know and love through the years while giving fans even more freedom to roam to their heart's content.

The Feudal Japan stylization of this new game is a nice touch, giving that open-world exploration even more of a beautiful edge when becoming the very best. The idea of going back in time with the franchise is also an interesting take, especially when looking at the recent years for this series. Based on the trailer, Legends Arceus looks like it could be an incredibly peaceful adventure for those looking to explore, while still providing familiar gameplay that fans know and love.

New Pokemon Snap Gameplay Reveals New Features

3 years 2 months ago
Gameplay of New Pokemon Snap has revealed new features, including tools, photo editing, and more. Shown during today's Pokemon Presents broadcast, the gameplay showed off the game's photo editing mode, which will allow you to alter, decorate and share your snaps. Photos can  rated by other players online, and even featured by the developers. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/26/new-pokemon-snap-official-gameplay-trailer"] AI scoring for shots was shown to be rated on Pose, Size, Direction, Placement, Other Pokemon, and Background, awarding both a points score and a star rating. Photos will seemingly also be used to fill a Pokemon Photodex. There are also new tools in the shape of Illumina Orbs, items that can make Pokemon glow, and change their elemental effects – presumably for higher photo scores. We also see fruits being thrown, and melodies being played to elicit new gestures from Pokemon. The story of the game isn't totally clear, but we see the mythical Pokemon Celebi swoop by at the end of the new trailer. New Pokemon Snap will be released on April 30. Open-World Pokemon Spin-Off, Pokemon Legends: Arceus Announced for 2022

3 years 2 months ago
Game Freak has announced Pokemon Legends: Arceus, an open-world action-RPG Pokemon game set in the feudal past of the Sinnoh region (the location of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl). It will arrive in Early 2022 for Nintendo Switch. Announced during today's Pokemon Presents broadcast, gameplay showed a game world reminiscent of Breath of the Wild, covered in wild Pokemon to catch, and seemingly using some action mechanics for play. The aim is to create Sinnoh's first Pokedex, and includes exploration, Pokemon capture, and a version of the series' traditional turn-based battles. Check out a gameplay trailer below: [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/26/pokmon-legends-arceus-official-trailer"] The game aims to "break new ground" for the Pokemon series, and features Rowlet, Cyndaquil, or Oshawott as partner Pokemon. The game will centre around the mythical Pokemon Arceus, but no further story details were given. The player will travel out from the central Sinnoh Village to different areas of the region, using traditional Pokeballs to capture monsters. Ratehr than traditional capturing, however, the official website says you'll need to "observe them to learn their behavior, then carefully sneak up, aim your Poké Ball, and let fly!" It's not the only new Pokemon game set in Sinnoh - remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl will be released in late 2021. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Joe Skrebels is IGN's Executive Editor of News. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Remakes Revealed

3 years 2 months ago
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have been revealed. The games are 3D remakes of Pokemon's 2006 Nintendo DS entries, and are coming for Nintendo Switch. Announced during today's Pokemon Presents broadcast, these chibi-style remakes of Pokemon's generation 4 are planned for release in late 2021. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/26/pokemon-brilliant-diamond-shining-pearl-official-trailer"] Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are intended as "faithful remakes" of the original Diamond and Pearl. But instead of being made by the usual studio, Game Freak, they're being made by ILCA inc, which has also worked on games like Pokemon Home, and was a support studio for Nier Automata and Yakuza 0. The games will be directed by original Diamond and Pearl director Junichi Masuda, as well as ILCA's Yuichi Ueda. The remakes have been rumoured for some time.

Microsoft Flight Simulator F-14 Tomcat, TF-104G Starfighter, & F-35 Lightning II Get New Video & Screenshots

3 years 2 months ago

While Microsoft Flight Simulator isn’t specifically built for fighter jets, third-party developers are still working hard to provide for those who crave the military flying experience.

First of all, we get an update about the F-14 Tomcat from DC Designs. Development on this is well underway and the package will focus on the A and B models of the classic Navy fighter.

We also hear more about what we can expect.

“I’m planning some novel details such as customizable crew helmets, flight-suit patches and names ( upon the sides of the canopy frame ), fully operational variable-geometry with manual, auto, and over-sweep modes, compressor-stalls in the “A” model for those who don’t fly it well, and of course realistic engine configurations for each version to make them distinct aircraft in their own right. A full, custom WWise sound pack for both engine types will accompany the launch this time around, rather than following on afterward. As with all my products, the Tomcats will come with a detailed manual and paint kit so all of those countless color schemes can be recreated across both aircraft types.”

Wind Peaks is Where's Waldo meets Gravity Falls, and it's coming to Switch

3 years 2 months ago

"Where's Wally?" I don't know, who cares! It's "Where's Waldo," folks. I don't care if the former is the "original" British name, the US publisher got it right.

Anyway, there's a decent chunk of seek and find/hidden object games out there, but every single new release catches my eye in some way. Take Wind Peaks for example. It has a lot of that puzzly Where's Waldo charm, but with a dash of Gravity Falls-esque aesthetics. It even has a mystery involved!

This one actually came out in mid-2020 on PC, but has been laying a bit low on Steam since then. When it arrives on Switch on March 3, it'll probably get a higher profile. Keep a lookout for it! It features 10 levels, "relaxing forest sounds," and a light story told through the actual puzzle stuff.
