3 years 10 months ago

Next-gen graphics card fever has gripped the internet hard over the last couple of months, with rumours flying this way and that about the upcoming [cms-block] GPUs and the ray-tracing-capable [cms-block] cards. But the latest GPU gossip doing the rounds isn’t anything to do with Nvidia’s RTX 3000 series. Oh no. Instead, it would seem Nvidia are preparing yet another variant of their entry level GTX 1650 graphics card called the GTX 1650 Ultra according to a new product listing from a Chinese graphics card vendor. The real kicker of this story, though? Its GPU is apparently based on the same one that currently resides in the RTX 2070.

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition arrives on Steam in August: here's the recommended specs

3 years 10 months ago

Back in March, after a longstanding string of rumors, the cat was out of the bag: Horizon Zero Dawn was coming to PC.

Sony says that the move came out of a desire to stay open to "new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation," and follows numerous attempts from other publishers to cross-pollinate their IP; like Nintendo throwing their hat into the mobile ring and Microsoft releasing select games on the Switch. It's also great timing for Horizon in general, as the sequel was confirmed for PS5 recently.

As of today, we now know exactly when the PC port of the first game is coming though: August 7, priced at $49.99. At that time you'll be able to dive into the Aloy's adventure all over again (or for the first time if you're not a PS4 person). The minimum and recommended specs seem to be finalized now, and it won't take a mammoth of a rig to run it.

As a reminder, the "Complete Edition" moniker includes the Frozen Wilds expansion, as well as several other item and outfit packs.

The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater documentary will debut in August

3 years 10 months ago

How timely!

Just as the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 remaster is gearing up for release in September, the long-awaited documentary "Pretending I'm a Superman - A Tony Hawk Video Game Story" will debut on August 18.

Premiering at the Mammoth Film Festival in May, D'Amato Productions snatched the film (directed by Ludvig Gür) up for a global release, which will happen digitally on that date. The film managed to snag Tony Hawk as a subject, in addition to Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, Steve Caballero and Jamie Thomas. The documentary will center around Tony himself, as well as his rise to video game fame throughout the 2000s. It boasts "never seen before" footage with the aforementioned skaters on top of that narrative.

It's crazy to think this is actually happening! I've been following it since Tony announced it in January of 2017.

Star Wars: Squadrons: HUD, Customisation and Advanced Mechanics All Optional

3 years 10 months ago
Star Wars: Squadrons will let players choose how 'realistic' they want their Star Wars experience to be, with customisation (including that on other players' ships), HUD elements, and advanced mechanics all optional. Speaking to IGN Japan, creative director Ian S. Frazier went into detail on a number of the upcoming starfighting game's mechanics, repeatedly making clear that players will have a choice on the experience they're looking for. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/18/star-wars-squadrons-gameplay-reveal-and-overview-trailer-ea-play-2020"] On customisation, for instance, it's been previously confirmed that the game's multiplayer modes will allow both ship exteriors and cockpits to be decorated. Frazier explains that every bit of flair - including cockpit toys and added holographic elements - has been designed to look as though it could exist in universe, but he understands that even that may not feel right to some fans. “Some players aren't going to want to see any of that,” admits Frazier. “It won't matter how plausible it is, they just want to keep it to exactly what we’ve seen in the films, no more and no less, and we totally get that. And so we have an option in the game to hide everybody else's cosmetics. So if you flip that on, then all of a sudden, if you want to put a racing stripe or whatever on your own TIE Fighter, you'll see it, but everybody else's is just going to look like a normal boilerplate TIE Fighter for you.” Similarly, the game's first-person perspective means that the game's cockpit readouts have been designed to offer all necessary information to the player.

We synthesize data from thousands of sources across the globe and our team of amazing engineers layer on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to give the most accurate predictions on where a flight is and where it’s going.

Now, our data stream called Firehose is going to power the real-time, global traffic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 so that while you’re using the sim, you can see planes near you in real life.”

My Friend Pedro to receive TV adaptation from John Wick creator

3 years 10 months ago

The bullet-ballet that is DeadToast Entertainment's My Friend Pedro is set to hit the small screen, as Legendary Entertainment has announced a TV adaptation of the hyper-violent stunt-shooter.

Released by Devolver Digital back in 2019, My Friend Pedro sees a masked amnesiac undertake a night of carnage against the scum of the underworld, guided on his bloodsoaked journey by an irreverent talking banana. Blending run 'n' gun action with meticulous physics, My Friend Pedro is embedded with the spirit of John Woo gunplay, mixing over-the-top acrobatics and environmental damage with a devastating arsenal of weapons and a grim sense of humour.

Expected to be a half-hour series, the TV adaptation is fittingly penned by David Kolstad, writer/creator of the equally explosive John Wick movies. Also on board as an executive producer is David Leitch, who was behind the lens for Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde, so some brutal, hard-hitting, and exquisitely choreographed action is guaranteed.

My Friend Pedro is available now on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Boys only want one thing and it's Mr. Destructoid dressed as Mona Lisa

3 years 10 months ago

Today, we’re introducing a brand new shirt design to the Destructoid merch store.

Designed by Destructoid community member Triggerpigking, the shirt features our site mascot Mr. Destructoid, but in the style of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.

You might find yourself asking how such a design came into being. A while ago, the folks from our podcast, Podtoid, commissioned him to do the header image for their Twitter profile. An early prototype of the design was featured in the background of the header picture, which we found to be amusing.

Suffice it to say, we just had to commission a full shirt design based off of it.

As with all other designs on our merch store, you can also get it printed on mugs, tote bags, cushions, and other goods! Alongside that, the majority of proceeds go towards the artist, so go show them a bit of love.

On a somewhat related note, we’re also collecting feedback on a brand new shirt based off of our long-standing site motto; “Also Cocks.” Feel free to check out the accompanying forum thread and let us know what you think.
