Animal Crossing: How To Back Up New Horizons Save Data

3 years 9 months ago

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' second summer update has arrived, and it adds a handful of new features to the game, including a weekly summer fireworks festival, the ability to fall on your face, and save backups. You'll need to have a paid Nintendo Switch Online subscription to take advantage of the latter, and it works a little bit differently than the typical cloud saves offered through the service. If you're unsure how the process works, here's how to back up your Animal Crossing save data.

How To Back Up Your Save Data

After installing New Horizons' 1.4.0 update, you'll see Backups - Not Set beneath the Settings option in the lower lefthand corner of the title screen. Press the Minus button to access the Settings menu, then select Island Backup from the list of options that Tom Nook presents you to begin the backup process.

Grounded Beginner's Guide: 10 Tips For Staying Alive

3 years 9 months ago

Obsidian Entertainment's new title, Grounded, will seem a lot like other survival games at first blush--even though it's Honey, I Shrunk The Kids-like setting puts it at a super-small scale compared to titles like Minecraft or The Forest. Like those games, you still need to drink water and eat food to stay alive, construct shelters to keep from getting overwhelmed by indigenous life, and craft equipment to help you keep alive and thrive in your new surroundings.

Though Grounded has a lot in common with other games in the genre, its shrunken approach to the survival genre means it has quite a few of its own quirks. From how you'll uncover crafting recipes, to the creatures keen on eating you that live in the backyard, there are plenty of nuances to understand. Here's a quick rundown of 10 key tips that'll help you adjust to life in the lawn.

1. Pick Up Everything And Analyze It

One of the first things you'll come across when you start a game of Grounded is a strange little science facility called a Field Station. This is your first inkling that there's something bigger going on here than a weird dream. Inside every Field Station is an item called an Analyzer--something that's extremely useful.

Halo Infinite's Multiplayer Will Be Free For Everyone And Run At 120 FPS

3 years 9 months ago

Halo Infinite's multiplayer component will be free-to-play and will support 120 FPS on Xbox Series X. 343 Industries announced this on Twitter, stating that more details about the game's multiplayer will be shared at a later time. For now, we'd like to call it "Halo Free." We're very sorry.

Halo Infinite's campaign was shown off during the Xbox event earlier in July, but 343 Industries has yet to show any footage of the game's multiplayer component or offered details beyond confirming that the multiplayer will be available at launch. We know we will see multiplayer prior to launch, but without a timetable or exact date. Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently said that Halo Infinite's multiplayer was "special" and the team worked alongside professional Halo players to fine-tune the experience.

I Like How Star Renegades Uses Relationships To Influence Decision-Making

3 years 9 months ago

Star Renegades' calling card is its reactive turn-based combat, which encourages the strategic use of well-timed interrupts and counters to paralyze your opponents' defenses and overwhelm them with powerful combo attacks. It's a battle system that I love but don't often see in many games--there's a more approachable version in Child of Light and a tactical variation in Othercide, but that's all that I've experienced so far.

Star Renegades' spin on the formula adds an interesting relationship-focused twist, both in terms of the friendships and connections between the characters in your party, as well as your squads' relationship to enemies they've fought before. Your squad can grow stronger through their deepening connection to each other, and just as easily, your squad's actions will have an impact on the makeup of the opposing army you face.

This TCL 4K TV features a 120Hz refresh rate, which means it's capable of taking full advantage of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. As is the case with most 4K TVs, the TLC 8 Series boasts HDR support and smart features like streaming and voice control. RE3 For $30, Horizon For $45, And More Great Steam Deals This Weekend

3 years 9 months ago

It's the last weekend for Green Man Gaming's massive summer sale, and the PC games store is going out with a bang. For the next few days, GMG is offering a promo code that gets you an additional 10% off the games in its sale. The promo code to use at checkout is WEEKEND, and it drops the price on some games, including Resident Evil 3, to the lowest we've seen.

Capcom's remake of Resident Evil 3 is down to $34.16 at Green Man Gaming, but the promo code drops your price to $30.77, which is the cheapest we've seen this game since it launched in April. If you held off on playing it back then, RE3 is more than worth it at nearly 50% off. Many other Capcom games are on sale as well--you can grab Monster Hunter World for $15.47, the Mega Man X Legacy Collections 1 and 2 for $15.30, and the Devil May Cry HD Collection for $15.14.

You can also take advantage of the weekend promo code to nab some recent Steam launches for a bit cheaper. Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition releases on Steam in just one week, and you can save $5 on your pre-order by using the promo code at GMG (we don't expect Steam will discount Horizon anytime soon). You can also get Death Stranding, which launched on Steam in June, for $43.20.

Dauntless Clear Skies Update Makes Its Hub World More Interesting

3 years 9 months ago

Dauntless, the free-to-play monster hunting action game by Pheonix Labs, is getting a new update today that revamps the game's hub city and one of its core weapons trees. The free update, Clear Skies, is out now on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Ramsgate, the social hub city at the center of the game, is being completely reworked in Dauntless' Clear Skies update. The update is mostly cosmetic; you'll hear new soundscapes around different areas of the city, while also offering new points of interest that you can interact with to further explore the lore of the Shattered Isles. Players can also challenge each other to a footrace mini-game across the city, as a small side distraction.

For more effective hunting, the sword has been completely reworked to introduce three core facets to its mechanics. At the core is a new Valour system. Core combos will generate Valour, while more powerful Valour combos will spend what you've generated. Special attacks work outside of Valour, but will be tied to a separate special meter. Pheonix Labs hopes this will give swords more adaptability to attack ranges in use.
