Microsoft Flight Simulator CRJ Add-On by Aerosoft Gets Release Date & More Impressive Videos

3 years 1 month ago

Today Aerosoft finally announced the release date of its Bombardier CRJ package for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The much-anticipated add-on will launch on March 16. The release will happen at the same time on Aerosoft’s own store and on the Microsoft Flight Simulator official marketplace at the same time.

On top of the announcement, we get two new videos showcasing the aircraft’s procedures.

To be more specific, we see the engine startup and the taxi and take-off, as usual, narrated by TheDude, a very experienced real-world CRJ pilot.

We already know that the pricing will be as follows:

  • The CRJ 550/700 will cost €42 (plus your local vat when applicable).
  • The CRJ 900/100 will cost €16.75 (plus your local vat when applicable).
  • The CRJ 900/1000 will require the CRJ 550/700 to be installed on the system.

The second package should come approximately 6-12 weeks after the first.

Incidentally, if you’d like to read more, you can take a look at our extensive interview with project manager Mathijs Kok.

Crusader Kings 3's next update will let you torture people with your awful poetry

3 years 1 month ago

Beautiful, awful randomly generated poetry is coming to Medieval grand strategy game Crusader Kings 3 as part of its next update, and players will even be able to torture enemies into submission with the very worst of their verse.

Expanding substantially on Crusader Kings 2's Poet trait, Crusader Kings 3's attempt will bring reworked stats, character interactions, and, most importantly, randomised poetry generation, meaning you can bask in the digital ditties conjured by rhyme-loving computer-folk all day long.

Poetry will be generated in-game by combining a particular subject with one of five overarching themes - romance, legacy, mourning, strife, and incompetence - enabling characters to influence events with a catchy rhyming couplet or two. Here's one of several randomly assembled examples provided as part of Paradox's latest blog post.

New Apex Legends Switch Gameplay Trailer Shows Off Legendary Pathfinder Skin

3 years 1 month ago

Respawn has released a new gameplay trailer for the Nintendo Switch port of Apex Legends. The trailer reveals a new Pathfinder skin as well, which will be exclusive to the Switch version of the game for a limited time.

As seen in the trailer, the new legendary P.A.T.H. Pathfinder skin recolors the happy-go-lucky robot with a sleek red-and-white paint job. The trailer doesn't mention how long this skin will remain exclusive to the Switch version.

Interestingly, this trailer may also tease more, currently unannounced additions to Apex Legends. At 0:26, you can see Rampart dancing with a microphone and at 0:38, you can see Mirage, Bangalore, Lifeline, Gibraltar, Pathfinder, and Wattson also all doing emotes that aren't present in the game.

Valheim Players Use Ocean To Yeet Themselves Into The Sky

3 years 1 month ago

Players of one of the hottest PC games right now, Valheim, are finding ways to exploit the title to make new experiences--like using the ocean as a giant trampoline to launch themselves.

Reddit user HotGuuuuu uploaded a clip of their exploit: hurtling a massive longboat down a tree-constructed ramp and using the vast ocean as a springboard to catapult themselves into the air. The ramp is built atop a mountain, so you can really see the speed they accumulate.

Curiously, despite the ocean looking very much like real water, the longboat simply bounces off the surface as if it's made of rubber. HotGuuuuu bounces off the water's surface a couple of times, launching several hundred feet into the air, before plummetting into a nearby forest.

Valheim is incredibly popular on Steam right now, selling four million copies in its first three weeks and sitting at the number three spot on the top-10 played games on the platform.

Valheim Player Recreates Whiterun From Skyrim In-Game

3 years 1 month ago

Valheim is a charming survival game that allows players to transform themselves into Vikings as they explore a vast and beautiful open-world. While the game is deceptively simple when looking at aspects like character creation and building, this adventure has so much more to offer than what meets the eye. It also gives players a chance to flex those creative skills and one Skyrim fan did just that when they embarked on a multi-thread journey of recreating Whiterun within the world of Valheim.

Reddit u/Djchieu has uploaded a few different parts of their journey into recreating Whiterun and honestly? I just thought it was really neat. I've been playing the game myself since launch and while I thought my humble abode right on the water's edge was spiffy, seeing other player creations out there suddenly has me feeling like I have a lot of catching up to do.

The first update shows off the bare bones of making Whiterun crossover into the land of Vikings. Fellow Redditors were quick to reply with a request for constant updates as the work on this continues, and it's easy to see why! Check it out:

Animal Crossing Player Recreates The Mario Experience On Their Island

3 years 1 month ago

Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans are always expressing their creativity through the game's building mechanics, and they can sometimes achieve goals that seem impossible to casual players. That is definitely the case with Twitter user doom_mori, who managed to create a Mario-like platformer experience on their island using the themed items added for Mario's 35th anniversary by a recent update.

While parts of this build are not possible without hacking the game--which we don't recommend, as it can get your island's Dream Address taken down, among other consequences--it's still incredibly impressive. Especially lucky is the fact that the warp pipes work in the order they intended; the direction you exit a warp pipe is random, and if you have more than two on your island at a time, the connection between pipes is random, too. The Super Mario Sunshine music also adds a bit of atmosphere to the clip.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Yuffie Episode, PS5 Upgrade Detailed

3 years 1 month ago

Square Enix has shared more details on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, including story info on the Yuffie DLC episode. The company also outlined some of its enhancements and new features for the PS5 port.

The Japanese publication Game Watch (translated via Gematsu) explains the background of Yuffie and her partner, the new character Sonon. The two are elite operatives for Wutai, and are dispatched to Midgar to steal the "Ultimate Materia" from the Shinra company. Yuffie herself is a ninja who uses a shuriken weapon. Yuffie is the commanding officer to Sonon, though he's older, and he is said to have trained under Yuffie's father.

The new episode starring the pair will take place over two chapters: first as the two hook up with Avalanche, and then the Shinra heist attempt. Yuffie has both short- and long-range combat capabilities, and she can perform special contextual actions like breaking Shinra boxes and crossing a wire fence.

The Yuffie episode will require a separate purchase, but upgrading to the PS5 Intergrade version from your PS4 copy is free and you can carry over your previous save data. The PS5 version will feature new lighting effects, fog effects, and some upgraded resolutions. You'll also able to choose between the 4K Graphics Mode and the 60 FPS Performance Mode. And a new photo mode will let you adjust the angle, colors, and exposure.

Valheim Update: Dedicated Server Upgrades And Wolves Are Less Likely To Make Babies

3 years 1 month ago

A new patch is available now for the hit Norse multiplayer game Valheim. Among a handful of smaller changes, it makes a big change for dedicated servers and also tweaks the game balance so wolves are less horny.

Starting with the dedicated servers, this new update makes it so dedicated servers now always use direct connections instead of using the Steam Datagram Relay (SDR) system.

"This should result in much lower latency for most players," developer Iron Gate said. "I really hope this patch solves a lot of connection issues introduced in last weeks patches (due to switching socket backend)," the studio said.

Elsewhere, the March 2 update for Valheim contains a change that makes wolves less likely to mate. The patch notes state that the update "lowered wolf procreation slightly." The developers apparently thought there was something wrong with wolves making cubs more than they should, so wolves are slightly less horny now, to borrow a phrase from PCGamer.

The Valheim patch notes also mention some localization updates, while the Bonemass enemy's puke effect should not work properly, thank goodness. You can see the full patch notes below, as posted by Iron Gate on Steam.

Fall Guys Studio Acquired By Epic Games As Mediatonic Shares What's Next

3 years 1 month ago

Epic Games has announced it has acquired the development company behind the gameshow-style battle-royale hit, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. Tonic Games, the parent company of developer Mediatonic, joins Epic Games less than seven months following the launch of Fall Guys on PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. The title is currently slated to arrive this summer on Xbox and Switch.

According to both Epic Games and Mediatonic, the gameplay of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout isn't changing and the company will continue to invest in the title across all platforms. Fall Guys will still be available for purchase on all currently existing and announced platforms (yes, including Steam), and all versions will continue to receive future updates.

"At Tonic Games Group we often say that 'everyone deserves a game that feels like it was made for them,'" Tonic Games Group co-founder and CEO Dave Bailey said in an Epic Games blog post. "With Epic, we feel like we have found a home that was made for us. They share our mission to build and support games that have a positive impact, empower others, and stand the test of time and we couldn't be more excited to be joining forces with them."

Pokémon Go On HoloLens Looks Incredible In New Demo From Microsoft

3 years 1 month ago

When Pokémon Go first released back in 2016, the world was unanimously happy for about two weeks as fans of the pocket monster franchise took to the real world to "catch 'em all" with the geocaching game. Eventually, the hype died down and the game evolved quite a bit to keep players invested by including things like raids, trading, and even more highly desirable features. Now, the mobile adventure is making its way to the world of HoloLens and if this demo from Microsoft and Niantic is anything to go by – it's a good move to make.

HoloLends is a pair of mixed reality smartglasses from Microsoft that aims to take reality as we know it and make it even more integrated with the tech all around us. In this demo, Microsoft shows off how the mixed reality peripheral pairs with Pokémon Go to take the caching game to an entirely new level for dedicated players.

NieR: Re[in]carnation Shows Upcoming New “Flame Sand” Chapter

3 years 1 month ago

Today Square Enix released a new trailer of its mobile game NieR: Re[in]carnation showing upcoming new content.

The new content is tiled “Flame Sand Chapter” and it’s coming to the game on March 9.

Of course, this is exclusively related to the Japanese version of the game, since the western localization isn’t available yet.

The game has already achieved over five million downloads in Japan in a few days, which is rather impressive, but perhaps unsurprising.

We already know that Nier Re[in]carnation is coming west, but unlike Japan, we don’t have a release date just yet. It’s currently being localized and voices are being recorded in English.

Epic Games Acquires Fall Guys Creator Mediatonic

3 years 1 month ago

The Fall Guys official Twitter account has just announced that the studio behind the game, Mediatonic, has just joined the Epic Games family. The game grew rapidly in popularity shortly after its launch, and this is the next step in that growth for Mediatonic.

Epic Games has posted a blog post discussing the move on their official site. In it, Tonic Games Group Co-Founder and CEO Dave Bailey had this to say:

At Tonic Games Group we often say that ‘everyone deserves a game that feels like it was made for them.’ With Epic, we feel like we have found a home that was made for us. They share our mission to build and support games that have a positive impact, empower others and stand the test of time and we couldn’t be more excited to be joining forces with their team.

Fall Guys recently had the biggest PC launch since Overwatch, netting $185 million on release. The game’s insane success probably factored into Epic’s decision to purchase the studio.

With that being said, Fall Guys isn’t actually currently available on the Epic Games Store. But it would come as a surprise if that didn’t change soon after this announcement.

Yakuza Modder Adds Female Version Of Kiryu To Kiwami 2

3 years 1 month ago

The Yakuza series has become increasingly popular in recent years, especially Yakuza: Like a Dragon, but the franchise hasn't offered much in the way of playable women. Thanks for the modder who goes by the handle "RyuHachii," however, you can now play as a femme version of the series' longtime protagonist Kazuma Kiryu in Yakuza Kiwami 2.

As first spotted by TheGamer, RyuHachii first caught onto the idea when she was experimenting with Kiryu's character model in graphic design programs like Blender. Inspired by the women party members in Yakuza: Like a Dragon like Saeko, RyuHachii eventually created an entirely new "genderbent" version of Kiryu that you can play as. RyuHachii told TheGamer that the idea was also influenced by existing fanart of Kiryu, which popularized the genderbent concept.

If you'd like to check out the mod, check it out at NexusMods. Certain cutscenes may stutter a bit due to the new character model, but overall, it's a playable woman in a Yakuza game, and that's something a lot of fans are likely to want as the franchise grows more popular.

Here's a fresh look at Apex Legends running on Switch

3 years 1 month ago

Apex Legends is making its long-awaited Switch debut next Tuesday, 9th March, and, in the run up to release, developer Respawn Entertainment has shared a brand-new trailer offering a closer look at the free-to-play shooter running on Nintendo's console.

Apex Legends was originally expected to launch on the platform last autumn, but complications caused by the coronavirus pandemic saw its release pushed into this year. The port is finally poised for its public debut, however, and Switch owners will be able to enjoy cross-platform play, all seasonal content, and full feature parity with other versions when it launches next week.

And if you're wondering how the Switch edition is shaping up, the answer appears to be (and, granted, I'm no Douglas Foundry) 'very nicely indeed', with the port - developed in conjunction with Panic Button, which also brought the likes of Doom Eternal, Warframe, and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus to Nintendo's console - getting a fresh airing in the trailer below.

3 Square Enix Franchises Forever Entertainment Could Be Remaking

3 years 1 month ago

Yesterday, we learned that Forever Entertainment, the developer behind Panzer Dragoon: Remake, would be given the opportunity to remake a franchise within the Square Enix Japan library.

Forever Entertainment proved that they have the chops to take a beloved but graphically-dated game and bring it lovingly into the 21st century. This got us thinking, what series, realistically, could Forever Entertainment be working on. Let’s take a few guesses, shall we?

Parasite Eve

Best PS1 Games, parasite eve

To me, this one has the best chance. Parasite Eve is a series that Square Enix hasn’t shown a ton of interest in working on. In spite of that, it’s beloved by older fans that got to experience the series on the PS1.

Dead By Daylight 4.6.0 Update Now Live On PC PTB, Adds New K-Pop Characters And More

3 years 1 month ago

A new Dead by Daylight update is now live on Steam via the game’s Player Test Build (PTB), developer Behaviour Interactive announced. The full patch notes for the update, dubbed 4.6.0, are outlined below. The update makes some changes to the game, including adding two new characters, implementing quality-of-life improvements, and putting in more chat features.

At the top of update 4.6.0 are the two new characters: the killer The Trickster and the survivor Yun-Jin Lee. The Trickster is a K-pop star who now enjoys making music with the bones of his enemies. Yun-Jin, meanwhile, is The Trickster’s former producer. They both come with their own set of abilities and weapons, as well as a unique special. For example, The Trickster can activate his Main Event special once his Event Meter is full. This ability gives him unlimited access to his throwing knives, increases his throw rate, and boosts his movement speed.

There are also adjustments for two other killers: The Blight and The Wraith. The Blight's point of view has been better positioned to reflect where his eyes are looking and the collision detection for his abilities has been reworked. On the other side, The Wraith's movement speed while cloaked has been increased but he now moves much slower when uncloaked.

Update 4.6.0 adds some quality-of-life improvements as well. The game now has a new chat filter feature, which should help cut some of the inappropriate language that populates the in-game chat. There are also colorblind modes that let players switch between various visual capabilities, like deuteranope and tritanope filters.

Epic Games Buys Fall Guys Dev Mediatonic, Expanding Its Battle Royale Empire

3 years 1 month ago

Fall Guys developer Mediatonic has been acquired by Fortnite studio Epic Games, expanding the North Carolina developer's battle royale empire even further.

"Huge news! Mediatonic are pleased to announce that we've joined the Epic Games family," the UK studio said on Twitter.

Separately, Epic Games confirmed in a blog post that it acquired the entire Tonic Games Group, which is the parent company of Mediatonic.

What does this all mean for Fall Guys? "Your gameplay isn't changing and Epic will continue to invest in making the game a great experience for players across platforms," Epic said. "Your favorite colorful beans will still stumble through the chaos on PC, PlayStation, and soon Nintendo Switch and Xbox."

After Epic Games bought Rocket League studio Psyonix, the game went free-to-play and was removed from Steam in favor of the Epic Games Store. For now at least, Fall Guys remains a paid game and continues to be available for purchase on Steam.
