To The Rescue is a simulation game about running a dog shelter

3 years 3 months ago

A dog shelter management game is a solid idea that should immediately click with a lot of people, myself included. I've run all sorts of failed virtual ventures, from theme parks to farms to hospitals to entire cities, but none of those scenarios feel as high-stakes as getting a new shelter off the ground.

Do I have what it takes to succeed in Little Rock Games' To The Rescue? I hope so!

Building out the best space, taking good care of the dogs, managing finances, dealing with health crises, promoting the shelter, and picking out the right pup for the right person – I'm into this game concept.

I want to specialize in basset hounds. If you've seen that basset hound clown car video, you'll get it.

After a successful Kickstarter in 2019, the shelter sim is back with a publisher – Freedom Games – and a new release window: Autumn 2021. On top of the original PC and Mac plans on Steam, there's also going to be a Nintendo Switch version of To The Rescue. It's aiming to be a simultaneous release.

Shironeko Project Created Amazing Wallpaper-Worthy JuJutsu Kaisen Art

3 years 3 months ago

Last month, mobile developer COLOPL revealed that it would be running a collaborating project for its game, White Cat Project, that will see signature members of the JuJutsu Kaisen anime added into it. While that may not be of interest to anyone who doesn’t want to play a Japanese gacha mobile title, the artwork that comes from it might.

A reddit user by the name of ayquil posted some of that art to JuJutsu Kaisen’s official subreddit last night, crediting the Shironeko Project for its amazing work coming up with the promotional images.

Xbox Confirms Some Bethesda Titles Will Be Exclusive, But Not All

3 years 3 months ago

When Microsoft announced it was acquiring ZeniMax, the parent company of Bethesda, many gamers were worried about what that means for some of their favorite franchises. Now that the acquisition is official, the Xbox company has given players an insight into what this move means for Bethesda games.

"With the addition of the Bethesda creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players," reads the latest blog post

Microsoft has been closing the gap between console and PC for years now, but that move has made a greater impact more so in the last 18 months with the inclusion of Steam as a client. With Halo potentially winding down in its lifespan, which will be heavily dependent on Halo Infinite's reception, it would be the smart move to make titles like Starfield be an Xbox-only experience to potentially be a new flagship franchise.

Worn Out: The Fashion Industry's Big Oil Problem

3 years 3 months ago

I really like buying clothes. I spend countless hours in the middle of the night scrolling my favorite brands’ Instagram feeds, and though I try to stick to buying secondhand, I also definitely set myself alarms to remember sample sales. Embarrassing, I know.

This Notre-Dame is one of the best Valheim builds I've seen so far

3 years 3 months ago

I'm once again getting some serious building envy from looking at community creations in Valheim, as someone has managed to construct a ridiculously detailed version of Notre-Dame de Paris - and it might be the best Valheim build I've seen so far.

Made by Reddit user GlPv, the virtual cathedral bears remarkable similarities to the real-life version (before the 2019 fire that destroyed much of the roof, at least). It's got a central spire, bell towers, stained glass windows (of a sort) and even flying buttresses. GlPv said that apart from the stone floor, the entire structure is made of wood, with most of the building "based on the frame".

"First I made the frame that was based on the real building, then the roof and walls," GlPv explained. "[The] walls alone looked too flat, so I added some depth with vertical beams. This looks complicated but most of the parts are connected with joints, rarely did I have to place something with precision."

Dragon Ball FighterZ Gets Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta This Week

3 years 3 months ago

Dragon Ball FighterZ gets a heaping helping of Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta on later this week. The fused warrior rounds out the game’s latest FighterZ Pass and injects another dose of Dragon Ball GT into the celebrated fighter, which was shared with a brand new trailer.

Some of you may be asking “Isn’t Gogeta already in Dragon Ball FighterZ?”. And you’re correct! That’s Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta, however, who appears in Dragon Ball Super. This upcoming Gogeta arrives on March 12, hails from Dragon Ball GT, and is the fusion between the Super Saiyan 4 versions of Goku and Vegeta. His obscene power level is matched only by his, shall we say, confidence. Okay, he’s annoyingly arrogant, but that’s fusion warriors for you. In a cool bit, his gameplay trailer pits him against SSB Gogeta for perhaps the most Saiyan-y clash of titans imaginable. Check it out below:

'Some' Bethesda Games Will Be Xbox/PC Exclusives Under Microsoft

3 years 3 months ago
Some future Bethesda games will be exclusive to PC and Xbox consoles, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has revealed. In an article on Xbox Wire welcoming Bethesda to Team Xbox, Spencer wrote the following: "With the addition of the Bethesda creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/03/09/microsoft-bethesda-heres-to-the-journey-official-announcement-trailer"] The news arrives as Microsoft's $7.5 billion acquisition of ZeniMax Media has been finalized, which brings franchises like Doom, Fallout, Wolfenstein and The Elder Scrolls under Xbox's wing. Many fans have been interested in whether new games from Bethesda could be exclusive to the platform going forward as a result of the deal. Spencer's comments suggest that "some" will. Previously, Spencer said that future Bethesda titles would come to "other consoles on a case by case basis." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/03/09/xbox-series-xs-accolades-trailer"] One of the biggest games hanging in the balance is The Elder Scrolls 6.

Phil Spencer Says “Some” Future Bethesda Games Will Be Exclusive to Xbox & PC

3 years 3 months ago

Today marks the completion of Zenimax Media and Microsoft’s record-breaking $7.5 billion merger, which was first announced back in September of last year. The occasion is being celebrated by senior members of both Microsoft and Bethesda.

Of particular interest is the brief note from Spencer that some of the future content from studios under Zenimax’s umbrella will be exclusive to Microsoft platforms, which in part answers a question that players and critics have been deliberating ever since the merger was announced.

Spencer explains in a blog post:

“With the addition of the Bethesda creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.”

Of course, quite whether that includes Bethesda’s blockbuster franchise, such as The Elder Scrolls, and the upcoming Starfield, remains to be seen. It may very well be that Spencer is alluding to different titles from Bethesda’s future library, as well as the many other studios under the ZeniMax banner, including id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios.

For now, Spencer has simply reiterated that “Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.” We’ll have to wait and see as to whether that means PlayStation players are set to miss out on the most anticipated games that fall under that designation.

Roadhog mains can't skip Overwatch's PachiMarchi Challenge

3 years 3 months ago

Overwatch is running the PachiMarchi Challenge this week, and folks, I need the new Roadhog skin. I know I've said I'm done playing this game, but I want to kill everyone with kindness. This is my look.

The PachiMarchi Challenge runs until March 22, and there are a few distinct rewards up for grabs, the easiest of which is just a matter of logging in. If you pop into Overwatch before the deadline, you'll get an assortment of sprays: Junkimari, Tranquilmari, Pachirilla, Pachimada, Doomari, and Hackimari.

Overwatch is giving out six Pachimari sprays for players who log in before March 22, 2021.

Of course, as a "challenge," you'll also need to actually play some Overwatch.

There are three tiers of rewards, the first of which is a Pachimari Hat player icon.

You need to win three games to earn the Pachimari Hat icon.

Then there's this squishy new emote for Junkrat.

The squishable Pachimari emote for Junkrat requires six wins.

And best of all, Roadhog's Pachimari outfit. Nine wins and it's yours.

Microsoft confirms "some" Bethesda games will be full Xbox and PC exclusive

3 years 3 months ago

Microsoft has confirmed that "some new titles" from Bethesda and parent company Zenimax Studios will be "exclusive to Xbox and PC".

There's no qualifier of timed exclusivity here. There's no mention of which games.

"This is the next step in building an industry-leading first party studios team, a commitment we have to our Xbox community," Xbox boss Phil Spencer wrote today in an Xbox Wire post to mark the historic $7.5bn deal being finalised.

I can't wait to jump into the cutesy world of Pocky & Rocky Reshrined

3 years 3 months ago

Publisher Natsume has released a new trailer for its 16-bit inspired sequel Pocky & Rocky Reshrined. The new teaser gives fans their first reasonably lengthy look at the cute-em-up's frantic top-down shooter gameplay in action.

Developed by The Tengo Project - the same outfit behind recent retro revisits Wild Guns: Reloaded and Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors - Reshrined is no mere remaster, but a fully fledged sequel to the 1992 SNES release KiKi KaiKai: Nazo no Kuro Mantle - which is better known in the west as Pocky & Rocky. The new game will see the determined shrine maiden and her faithful tanuki buddy battle waves of enemies in a spanking new adventure - one that has been a long time coming, for sure!

Utilizing a brand new engine but retaining the charming 16-bit aesthetic of the original title, the cutesy sequel looks like a lightweight bit of fun for players looking to while away the weekend with a bit of old-school fun. I'm definitely going to be checking out the action when Pocky & Rocky Reshrined launches, this fall, on PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

Devil is a Part-Timer

devil is a part-timer, anime

Pretty much the entirety of the Isekai genre is built up around the trope of someone being transported from the real world to one of fantasy in order to live out their greatest fantasies. Devil is a Part-Timer does the exact opposite, taking characters from a magical world and placing them in our own mundane reality.

Someone's recreated a bunch of Apex Legends locations in Minecraft

3 years 3 months ago

It seems like people really do have a lot of spare time on their hands in lockdown, as an Apex Legends fan has recreated most of the enormous World's Edge map in Minecraft. And multiple weapons and legend abilities for good measure.

In a post on Reddit, Japanese player kurobekuro shared some images of their work so far, and although the World's Edge map is unfinished, it's still pretty impressive. Finished locations include Harvester, The Train Yard, Mirage Voyage and The Epicenter (complete with massive protruding icicles), and they look remarkably similar to the real deal. Or similar to what Apex Legends will look like on Switch, perhaps.

Along with the locations, kurobekuro also reproduced two Apex Legends weapons - the R99 and Flatline, which appear to be fully operational. The player also made several legend abilities, including Octane's jump pads, Wraith's portals and Bloodhound's Beast of the Hunt ultimate. And although I'm not sure the latter would actually help you spot people, the noise it makes is just as terrifying as in the game. Make sure to check out the videos of these on the original post.
