The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Gets Final Trailer Packed With Action

3 years 2 months ago

A final trailer has been released for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier ahead of its release, and it teases plenty of high stakes and action on the horizon.

Streamed through the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube account on Mar. 15, the trailer offers a brief overview of some of the upcoming series’ key plot points. These include The Falcon working to come into his role as the inheritor of Captain America’s legacy, his evolving dynamic with The Winter Soldier and a new threat that has emerged for them to face.

Things kick off with scenes of The Falcon training with Captain America’s shield. Though he can handle it masterfully, the symbolic weight behind it has him struggling to fully embrace his new role as its wielder.

The Winter Soldier responds with an acknowledgement that it represents many things to people, though whether he means to say this as encouragement or a sign that he’s a rival for wielding it is unknown.

The trailer then moves onto scenes of a new group of villains wreaking havoc around the world. They all wear masks and boast exceptional physical abilities, but otherwise appear somewhat ordinary in appearance.

All the same, they are able to cause enough chaos to warrant The Falcon and the Winter Soldier working together to try and put a stop to their plans. Scenes of the two heroes fighting with the villains, dashing through cities and otherwise being heroic then follow in spades.

It’s a solid final glimpse at the series before it begins airing on Mar. 19, and fans of the MCU will want to view it for themselves down below.

Outriders launches straight into Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft confirms

3 years 2 months ago

Outriders will be available from its 1st April launch date via Xbox Game Pass on consoles and Android devices, Microsoft has now confirmed.

Developed by Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgment studio People Can Fly, the sci-fi RPG shooter has picked up positive reactions from its recent demo.

Today's confirmation of an Xbox Game Pass launch comes after a knowing tease by Microsoft over the weekend - and after People Can Fly announced two million people had downloaded the game's demo so far. (Including one person who has, for some reason, played 254 hours in just 15 days.)

Watch Dogs Legion Crossplay, Cross-Gen Support Is Coming Soon

3 years 2 months ago

Now that multiplayer is live in Watch Dogs: Legion, players want to know when and if they can play with friends on other platforms. With more and more gamers getting into the new generation with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the topic of cross-gen support has also come up. Luckily, Ubisoft has confirmed that Watch Dogs: Legion crossplay and cross-gen support is coming soon.

As with many confirmations in recent years, the crossplay/cross-gen announcement was subtly made on Twitter. When one player responded to a Watch Dogs tweet saying "please enable cross-gen," the game's account responded, saying "While crossplay and cross-progression is currently not available for the Watch Dogs: Legion Online mode, the development team is working on adding this feature to the game with a later update."

Outriders Will Be on Xbox Game Pass on Day One

3 years 2 months ago

Today Xbox revealed that Outriders, the highly-anticipated looter-shooter from People Can Fly and Square Enix will be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers on console and Android to download on the game’s release date, April 1.

Console includes of course Xbox One and the Xbox Series X|S, and Android players will be able to play on their phones and tablet via Xbox Cloud Gaming.

While it’s not a total shock these days for Xbox to reel in a big fish outside of its own internal studio ecosystem, Outriders arriving on day one, as if it were an Xbox exclusive, is quite the surprise.

Keep in mind, though, that there’s no guarantee that it will be on Xbox Game Pass forever (unlike actual Xbox exclusive games) so if you wanted to take advantage of this perk, we’d recommend you get started right away on day one.

Games cycle in and out of Xbox Game Pass, although you can buy most games at a slight discount (10%) for keeps while they are live on Game Pass.

There’s no mention of the PC version of Xbox Game Pass, so for now, it’s safe to assume it’s just for consoles and Android users.

The Outriders demo has been quite popular, and our impressions of the game throughout the development have been quite positive. If you’re interested in learning more, here are six big things we learned from the demo.

Stubbs The Zombie Remaster Retains That Classic Jank

3 years 2 months ago

Zombies have been a big part of video games for a long time now. Mostly we kill them in droves. But back in 2005, Stubbs The Zombie shook things up and let you take on the role of a zombie devouring people in a futuristic city. That game is back on modern consoles via a remaster that might be too bare-bones for some.

Call of Duty: Warzone - Top 10 Roofs of Verdansk

3 years 2 months ago
Don’t get me wrong, I like running around Verdansk, popping a Dead Silence and getting stuck in as much as the next person. But sometimes you just want to chill out with friends and have a chat on a rooftop while occasionally sniping nearby enemies. But which rooftops are the best? With the current Call of Duty Warzone map rumoured to change substantially or be replaced completely, I felt it was time to make the definitive list. A love letter, if you will, to the many hours I’ve spent hanging out with friends on the beautiful roofs of Verdansk. Watch the video above, click through the gallery below, or scroll down the page for the full list! 10. Bloc 6 Tenement Block

We start our tour at the Bloc 6 Tenement Block, whose ravishing, red roof punctuates a skyline largely painted with browns and greys. Sandwiched between Stadium and TV Station, it offers a great vantage point to pick off squads pushing from either side. Bloc 6 Tenement Block The downside is the lack of protection it offers. Getting the best vantage point leaves you pretty open and the small balconies are prone to airstrikes. In the event of this happening you can always hop down the ladder and hide in one of the apartments, redecorating the walls with sprays while the bombs drop. To quote Oscar Wilde, “My wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or the other of us has to go.”

It looks like Zack Snyder's Justice League accidentally uses an old Halo icon for a Ra's al Ghul Easter egg

It looks like Zack Snyder's Justice League accidentally uses an Halo icon.

As PCGamesN reported over the weekend, the Deathstroke character has a symbol on his sword that appears to be a Halo emblem.

The symbol was spotted on Deathstroke's costume by actor Geoff Reeves, who visited the #SnyderCut Exhibit in Dallas, Texas recently. At the time, this symbol was taken to refer to the famous Batman villain, Ra's Al Ghul.

Hogwarts Legacy: Troy Leavitt Explains Decision to Leave the Project [Updated]

3 years 2 months ago
Update 03/15/2021: Troy Leavitt has released a video explaining his decision to leave Avalanche Studios and the Hogwarts Legacy project. The video explains that Leavitt has retired from the industry due to health-related family issues, and that controversy over his YouTube channel was a catalyst for retiring now, "but not the cause". The video, which is an edited version of a Zoom presentation given to ex-colleagues at Avalanche, features Leavitt explaining that he had retired in August of 2020, but rejoined the company in October. In early February 2021, "family matters took [a] sharp turn" – seemingly before reports about Leavitt's controversial YouTube output initially emerged. Leavitt says WB applied no pressure to him over the situation, but Leavitt made the decision to re-retire this month. Leavitt labelled press coverage of the controversy as feeling like "cancel culture", thanked those who defended him on YouTube, and announced that he'd like to work in indie development, and will continue work on a fantasy novel series. Leavitt shared a resignation letter, which says, "I leave with only the warmest of feelings towards both the Avalanche team and the WB organization." Later in the video, he said he believes "Avalanche is the right studio to make this game," pointing to its work on licensed IPs, in-house talent, and partnerships. He also said he appreciates the studio's player-centric design team, adding that it's focused on "what's good for the player, without trying to push any other agendas into the game" – a phrase which appears to tacitly reference the ongoing controversy around Harry Potter creator J.K.

Maquette Review – Rudimentary Romance

3 years 2 months ago

Maquette on PlayStation 5

During these opening months when there’s not a ton of games to play on the PlayStation 5, the free monthly offering on PlayStation Plus is more than welcome. Maquette — developed by Graceful Decay and published by Annapurna Interactive — is currently free on PlayStation Plus for the month of March 2021, but is it worth the download?

Maquette tells a cliché story about two people meeting by chance, falling hopelessly in love with all the Hollywood lines you can think of, and its inevitable downfall. Things start off with you navigating a bit of scenery as you make your way towards the first Maquette dome.

Throughout this, Maquette keeps its narrative almost too close to its chest, scrawling sentences of backstory on the walls about how the main character lost his keys and stumbles upon a box of painful memories from a relationship past.

Fall Guys Getting Among Us Costumes With Mysterious, 'Unique' Features

3 years 2 months ago
Fall Guys has announced an Among Us crossover, and developer Mediatonic teased to IGN that some new Among Us costumes will have "something unique" about them, adding that the mention of an Impostor in a new trailer could be considered a warning to players. Included at the end of a new trailer was the reveal of a red Among Us-themed spacesuit costume (complete with a fried egg hat), and the warning that 1 Impostor Remained – text that will be very familiar to Among Us players. Developer Mediatonic tells IGN that the red costume will be available on Day 1 of Season 4, and will be a part of the season's Fame Path rather than bought with Crowns – the bottom half at rank 21, and the top half at rank 26. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/03/15/fall-guys-season-4-official-trailer"] However, the developer also teased to us that this wasn't the only Among Us costume, and that they'll come with secrets and quirks for players to discover when they arrive. Coupled with the tease that the Impostor warning could be more than a trailer joke, and it raises the idea that the costumes will add Among Us-themed features. Perhaps players could be given extra tasks, perhaps to eliminate others in their games? Fall Guys costumes have always been strictly cosmetic, so any extras will likely not affect the games themselves, so it'll be interesting to see what Mediatonic and Innersloth have up their sleeves. Fall Guys and Among Us are a natural fit, with both games emerging last year as major gaming phenomena.

Xbox Wireless Headset Review

3 years 2 months ago
The Xbox Wireless Headset is a solid workhorse thanks to a couple of really smart design ideas and better-than-average sound. It also has a few elements that aren’t necessarily bad, but can’t be described as impressive, like its microphone and its battery life. It nails the important stuff, though, and the useful features far outweigh the problems when you’re talking about a $100 headset. While it won’t scare any high-end home theater headset rivals, it’s a strong and versatile mid-level pick for day-to-day Xbox use. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=xbox-wireless-headset-review&captions=true"]

Xbox Wireless Headset – Design and Features

The Xbox Wireless Headset looks very elegant. Fashioned in black molded plastic with just a splash of Xbox green on the cans, the blend of slim, sharp edges on the top band with the not-quite concentric circles of the outer earcups and ear padding create a striking look that’s simultaneously sleek and spacious. Much like Sony’s Pulse 3D headset, it’s designed to look like a match for the console. Photo Mar 10, 12 40 56 PM The adjustable top band – hard plastic with a steel inner frame – looks narrow, but adjusted to fit my wide head just fine. The sides of the band slide so you can adjust the fit: there’s a tactile response as you adjust, helping you keep track as you find your fit, though it lacks a visual indicator to help you match the adjustment on both sides. The inner face of the band features leatherette-coated foam padding, which is very firm, but comfortable.

Sony is shutting down the PlayStation Communities service next month

3 years 2 months ago

Sony has announced that it is pulling down the shutters on the PS4's PlayStation Communities service. As of April the long-running dashboard feature - which allows players of particular games to build forum-style discourse, share screenshots, form parties, and other activities under the banner of specific titles - will be no more.

The announcement was made on the official PlayStation site as part of a general update about the changing face of the PlayStation 4 platform. Both PS4 and PS5 still allow for direct messaging, along with the public sharing of content, guides, live streams and tips for specific games. The PS5 in particular having a slew of features built around game-based communication, so it seems inevitable that Sony would start sunsetting some of its older social features. The PlayStation Communities mobile app was already shut down back in March of last year.

The PlayStation Communities service is expected to close with the arrival of update 8.5, currently expected to launch within the next five-to-six weeks. So if you have any PS Community pals you want to stay in touch with, best jump back into your local groups and start dropping some friend requests.

Why The Xbox Wireless Headset Is A Good Option For Series X Owners

3 years 2 months ago

When Xbox Series X launched earlier this year (check out our review here), it delivered several improvements over its predecessor, the Xbox One. However, while one of Xbox Series X's main legs-up over PlayStation 5 is in how all the accessories you had for Xbox One, including controllers and headsets, were instantly compatible with your new system, PS5's Pulse 3D wireless headset delivered audio quality and features that no first-party offering from Microsoft could match. Now, Xbox is here with its own new-gen, first-party wireless headset to rival the PS5-launch offering of Sony.

True to the mission of Xbox's entire pitch this generation, the Xbox Wireless Headset connected almost instantly with my Xbox Series S and updated wirelessly via the Xbox Accessories app. Once updated, I could go into the app and fine-tune how I want the audio to come through the headset, including various equalizer settings and bass boost, as well as how sensitive I want the mic's auto-mute functionality to be or how bright I want the mic light to be. Once I have the headset just the way I like it (or at least how I think I like it... I won't know for sure until I'm playing), it's time to jump into a game.
