Watch New Venom: Let There Be Carnage Movie Trailer Here

Who doesn't love a little bit of Carnage? The Carnage vs. Venom showdown was teased in the first Venom movie as a post-credits scene, and now we get to see the action up close and personal with a new trailer. The new trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage movie also comes with a release date, with a theatrical debut on September 24, 2021.

Directed by Andy Serkis, Tom Hardy returns once more to again transform into the "lethal protector" Venom. This anti-hero, hero, non-hero is complicated, to say the least, making him one of my personal favorite characters from the Marvel universe. To see Hardy go toe-to-toe as Venom against Woddy Harrelson as Cletus "Carnage" Kasady is a real treat, check out the trailer below:

Click here to watch embedded media

In the trailer, you can see the return of the more comedic moments with Hardy's character, but let's not ignore the most important part: the action. Carnage is vicious, he's a killer, and he's out for blood in this new trailer. In the upcoming movie, he also seems to be a much more formidable foe than Riot in the first film. While I'm still not feeling the wig the creative team gave to Harrelson as Carnage's human counterpart, despite that he's still a terrifying serial killer that has nothing to lose and nothing to curb his fatalistic blood lust.

Rambo is coming to Call of Duty: Warzone on May 20

It looks like the recent murmurs were true... The official Call of Duty Twitter has posted a short teaser video that implies John J. Rambo, the tortured military veteran played by Sylvester Stallone, is getting set to step into the deadly battle royale world of Call of Duty: Warzone.

A short video sees a hapless soldier picked off by a flaming arrow from a very familiar face. This is followed by the message "Become War. The Action Begins May 20", printed in the familiar Rambo typeface. With no details, one can assume that this means John Rambo will be joining the roster as a paid DLC skin on the listed date. You'd expect everyone to be playing as this character, but CoD prestige skins are pretty dang expensive, so donning the scarlet headband will likely be a financial commitment.

Just last year, Rambo also stepped into the realm of Outworld to lay waste to the roster of NetherRealm Studios' Mortal Kombat 11. Stallone also returned to the role for the big screen in 2019's Last Blood — a highly questionable flick which saw John forced to return to his killing ways when death and violence comes to the front door of his humble farm homestead.

The transition of Rambo from the mentally-ruined Vietnam veteran in First Blood to an M60-pumping cartoon, Mortal Kombat, and Call of Duty star is... odd to say the least. But I guess as long as a war is happening — on the front doorstep, in another dimension, or... in a free-to-play battle royale game — John and his serrated knife will never see the sanctity of retirement.

The Coalition is moving to Unreal 5, but don't expect new announcements anytime soon

Gears of War studio The Coalition has announced today that it's moving into next-gen development and using Unreal Engine 5. The studio says it will be developing on Unreal Engine 5 for "multiple new projects" in the coming years, but don't expect an announcement of those titles for some time.

Today's announcement notes that shifting to a new engine for development is a big undertaking, so The Coalition says it will "not be announcing any new projects or titles for some time."

Gears 5 will still receive Operations 7 and 8, and there will be more store updates and new content through the end of the year. As for new games, the studio says it is eager to show what it's working on "when the time is right."

The Coalition has been hard at work over the last year or so, bringing Gears 5 to 120 FPS on the Xbox Series X and launching both Gears Tactics and the Hivebusters mini-campaign. Whatever they can put together with a new Unreal Engine will certainly be something to see.

Resident Evil Village Used a Giant, Grumpy Stand-In for Lady Dimitrescu's Performance Capture

The actor behind Lady Dimitrescu has revealed more about the motion capture process that brought the character to life – including a big, grumpy pole that was used to simulate her 9'6" eyeline in real life. Lady Dimitrescu actress Maggie Robertson has been delighting fans during Resident Evil Village's launch weekend by responding to fan art and complementing cosplays of the popular character, as well as providing a behind-the-scenes look at the game. In one post Robertson revealed "the grumpy stand-in," a giant pole with a soft head marked with a frowny face. According to Robertson, this was used during performance capture to "mark Lady D's actual size and eye lines" while on set.

Fan-created NieR: Automata PC texture pack finally finished

A dedicated NieR fan has finally completed their work on a HD textures pack for PlatinumGames' NieR: Automata. As noted by Eurogamer, the mod has been in development ever since the PC port of the much-loved sci-fi adventure first launched back in the spring of 2017.

As the NieR community knows all too well, the PC port of NieR: Automata was a less than stellar release, suffering from weak visuals and a stuttering frame rate — betraying Yoko Taro's opulent and stylistic universe. Modder GPUnity took it upon themselves to give the PC edition the visual polish fans expected from the release, and began steadfastly working on a homebrew texture pack to give Automata's world and characters a little more hi-tech sheen.

The newest episode of Nintendo Minute gave us the wildest official picture of Waluigi yet

Over the weekend Nintendo put out a pretty innocent looking "Nintendo Switch Lite Blue Unboxing + Color Comparison" video, which was supposed to just compare and contrast the new Lite model. But uh, another story sort of took shape and conquered that conversation.

Very early into the video, Nintendo Minute host Kit states "We got Waluigi, yes," when showcasing all of the toys and props that will be used to highlight the color of the blue Lite. But right as they say that, a new seemingly official Waluigi render pops up on screen and it is provocative!

He's stretched around in a sultry manner, with his tongue out (a rare Waluigi tongue sighting), and is ready to lick that rose. Something is going down and right before you can try and imagine what, the video cuts and everyone acts like they never showed that image. But we saw it.

You can see it in the video here, or watch it below at roughly 15 seconds in. Extreme Ghirahim vibes!

Oh, and you get six good minutes in with the Switch Lite blue model if that's what you want. But that's not what you came here for.

This Valheim mod lets you build some really big boats

Have you ever felt like going on a big cruise ship around the mythical world of Valheim? Thanks to the power of modding, now you can, so get ready for some very large vessels.

ValheimRAFT is a mod by Sarcen that allows players to construct their own ships rather than simply use the pre-made ones available in vanilla Valheim. (If the name didn't give it away, it's inspired by the game Raft, a survival game in which you construct a boat from bits of debris.) I had a quick tinker with it and made a basic ghost ship, although in retrospect I would have made it a little larger - the deck is somewhat crowded.

The mod lets you place a modified version of a raft, which comes with a platform to let you build on top. It also provides a number of accessories, such as sails and a big old helm for steering. If you fancy building a more modern look for your boat, it turns out the mod will let you achieve full speed without sails, so you're free to go ahead and create an aircraft carrier made of wood. I'm serious - the raft doesn't appear to follow Valheim's normal rules of building stability, so you can make something truly massive.

Capcom Has Broken Its Profit Records for the Fourth Year in a Row

Capcom has revealed that it has hit record-high profits for the fourth consecutive year, with much of that success coming down to Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil 3 sales. In a press release regarding its last fiscal year, Capcom announced net sales were up 16.8%, operating income was up 51.6%, ordinary income was up 51.8%, and net income to the parent company was up 56.3%. The developer of franchises such as Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, and Resident Evil attributed much of the success to new entries in core franchises like Monster Hunter Rise (which shipped 4 million copies in its first weekend alone) and the remake of Resident Evil 3. However, it also recognised the continued success of previously released games and expansions like Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, which have seen gamers jumping in retroactively, no doubt down to new entries in the franchise bringing in new players. It also cites strong sales for next-gen versions of games like Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/03/30/natural-history-expert-reacts-to-monster-hunter-rise"] Not only did this lead to the fourth consecutive year of record profits, but also the eighth consecutive year of operating income growth. Despite receiving the pandemic-related boost that many video game companies have shown in the past year, Capcom's forecasting that it will beat its income and profit records again next year.

Hood: Outlaws & Legends came out last week, but it's really out today

While I was looking the other way Hood: Outlaws & Legends released to pre-orders on PC. The Robin Hood PvPvE game, where two teams try to outwit AI, steal loot from each other, and flee with their tights intact, snuck out on Friday. A bold move, really. Everyone else was running away from the large lady vamp with the delightful smile, but Hood took a sneaky route onto the hard-drives of people who had already purchased it. The rest of us can play it later today.

Ubisoft to rebrand its first-party games 'Ubisoft Originals'

Ubisoft announced that, effective immediately, all first-party titles will be branded "Ubisoft Originals."

Ubisoft confirmed the new branding in a succinct statement to Eurogamer. "Moving forward the 'Ubisoft Original' mention is attached to all of Ubisoft's games created in-house by our talented developers," said the Assassin's Creed and Rainbow Six Siege studio.

While Ubisoft does not currently publish titles from exterior developers, the soundbyte-happy publisher is likely just looking for a trademark signifier, not dissimilar to "A Netflix Original Series". The mind boggles that it didn't go with "Ubisoft Iconics".

The first game to receive the sparkly new branding is Tom Clancy's The Division: Heartland — a new, free-to-play take on the non-political tactical shooter series. Developed by the series regulars, Red Storm Entertainment, The Division: Heartland is expected to launch on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox in 2021/2022, with a mobile port also in the works.

Capcom draws Resident Evil Village werewolf on hill, confuses local papers

If you've ever done a long drive in the English countryside, you may have seen one of our giant chalk figures. They're huge drawings made on the sides of hills that typically represent a story from local history or some sort of legend. Most notably we have loads White Horses and one guy with his willy out. But shaking things up a little bit, Capcom have drawn a chalk lycan to promote Resident Evil Village. Ah, what a lovely piece of British history.

Ubisoft will now brand all its own games as "Ubisoft Originals"

Assassin's Creed and Far Cry publisher Ubisoft will now brand all of its games made by internal studios as "Ubisoft Originals".

The name first cropped up last week, when Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy's The Division: Heartland, a new free-to-play spin-off due later this year or early next.

When asked whether this label meant anything more than fancy new branding, a Ubisoft spokesperson told Eurogamer today that, "Moving forward 'The Ubisoft Original' mention is attached to all of Ubisoft's games created in-house by our talented developers."

Sony expects it will continue to struggle to meet PS5 demand into 2022

The constrained supply of the PlayStation 5 will continue into 2022, Sony has warned.

The company's CFO, Hiroki Totoki, said Sony will struggle to meet demand even with a supply boost, Bloomberg reported (paywall).

As most know, the PS5 is incredibly hard to buy at the moment, with stock snapped up as soon as it goes on sale. The console has also been the focus of scalpers, who sell on for an inflated price. Retailers have struggled to prevent new consoles from getting into the hands of scalper groups, some of which sell membership to their services. The situation got so bad, the government issued an official response to an online petition calling for a change in the law to tackle console scalping.

Resident Evil Village's Lady Dimitrescu to receive her own flavor of G Fuel

I'm not really sure of the demographic crossover of vampiric society queens and energy-drink-guzzling esports types but, never one to miss a marketing opportunity, Capcom has collaborated with G Fuel to produce a brand new flavor based on Lady Dimitrescu, one of the popular antagonists from the recently released Resident Evil Village.

Titled "Maiden's Blood", the powered hell comes in a container not quite as tall as the good lady herself, along with a 24oz shaker cup which will make you the coolest person at the gym. Honest. Packed with vitamins and supplements to increase focus, endurance, and reaction, G Fuel hopes that Dimitrescu's horrifying elixir will help consumers reach new heights. But not 9'6".  What does "MAIDEN'S BLOOD" *thunder clap* taste like? Melon. Fucking melon.

Scheduled to launch in July 2021, interested parties can jump on a waiting list right now over on the official G Fuel website. I'll definitely be downing the stuff while I go about my slavish tasks for Lady D, including sweeping her floors, polishing her shoes, getting the bloodstains out of her dress, responding to her emails, and sorting her recycling.

It's a living. Besides, Daniela is surprisingly good at Crossfire.

Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil 3 fuel another record year for Capcom

Revenue for the financial year ending 31st March 2021 was 95.3bn yen (£622m), up 16.8 percent from the previous year, with profit of 34.6bn yen (£226m), up 51.6 percent from the previous fiscal year)

Capcom pointed to the success of Monster Hunter Rise and the Resident Evil 3 remake, as well as sales growth for high margin back catalogue titles including Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and the Resident Evil 2 remake. Capcom said the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S version of Devil May Cry 5 "also performed well". The boost to video game interest during lockdowns also helped.

Returnal fixes corrupted update issue, but still doesn't offer proper saves

Did you update to Returnal version 1.3.3? That's old news! 1.3.6 is the new hotness. Ah, modern game development.

In case you didn't hear, Housemarque tried to warn people last-minute about not allowing auto-updates on your PS5, as they may mess with your Returnal run (which requires players to put the game into rest mode). Unfortunately that was an understatement, as 1.3.3 corrupted some saves, amid other bugs.

In response, the studio thankfully got a quick fix out and within two days, had addressed the issue in the aforementioned 1.3.6 edition, which is the latest patch. This one fixes some crashes, collision problems, "incorrect healing behavior, controller mappings, and "numerous minor" bugs, too. You can find the full notes below.

This whole situation is very unfortunate, and I wish that the powers that be allowed the game a little more time in the oven to shore this all up before it shipped. While I haven't had major issues with the rest requirement yet, I've had many run-ins with the PS5's wonky rest mode in the past, and it's just a matter of time. For the long haul, Housemarque should nip this whole system as soon as possible.

Before I Forget: How two strangers made one of 2020's most moving games

They met when the story of Before I Forget begins, at a game jam in Bristol in 2016. Chella Ramanan and Claire Morwood didn't know each other but, on a wave of intuition, decided to tackle the brief of 'borders' together. And whereas other people took a more physical approach, looking at things like Trump building a wall, or the Syrian refugee crisis, Ramanan and Morwood decided to look inwards.

They pulled on an idea Ramanan had scribbled down in a book at some unconnected time before the event. Simply, she wrote, 'Woman with dementia'. It was an idea born out of a fascination with memories and what they are, and what happens when someone begins to lose them.

I'm a bit surprised by this. I expected the idea to originate from some kind of personal experience of dementia, in whatever form that may be. From what I've seen, it's a condition that seems to leave an indelible mark on the lives it touches, something you need to see up close before you fully comprehend it, fully understand. If they hadn't, how could they?

PS5 hardware stock woes likely to continue into 2022

In a private briefing with investors, Sony has reportedly told shareholders that it expects the short supply woes currently bothering its PS5 hardware to continue for the foreseeable future, throughout 2021 and leading into 2022.

While the PS5 has gotten off to an incredibly strong start sales-wise — even beating out the launch numbers of the previous generation's PS4 — a shortage of manufacturing components hangs heavy over the industry, with Sony expect demand to far exceed that of production. According to a report by Bloomberg, Sony Japan has openly addressed this problem in a meeting held not long after the release of its latest financial earnings report.

"I don’t think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldn’t be able to catch up with demand," Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki reportedly told investors "We have sold more than 100 million units of the PlayStation 4 and considering our market share and reputation, I can’t imagine demand [for PS5] dropping easily."

The shortage of PS5 consoles is, essentially, a two-pronged attack on customers. At the supply level, a lack of internal components is causing slow production of the physical console itself, while at the retail level, customers have struggled in battles with scalpers and multi-buyers to bag what little hardware hits the market. Add to the mix production delays and distribution issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and it's easy to see why all major publishers — not just Sony — are struggling to get their wares into the hands of the public.

Call of Duty: Warzone May Soon Add Rambo and Die Hard's John McClane

Alongside Verdansk '84, Call of Duty: Warzone looks to be continuing the celebration of the 1980s as it is teasing the arrival of both John Rambo and Die Hard's John McLane. A few days ago, the Call of Duty Twitter account asked if anyone knew "SURVIVORJOHN#1009062?" Their #WarzoneReport is pretty impressive as it shows they have 552 kills, and infinite K/D ratio, 0 deaths, 5 games played, 5 wins, and 7 hours played. Screenshot_2021-05-10 Call of Duty on TwitterBy doing a bit of digging into the history of Rambo, you will find that there have been five Rambo films (5 games played and 5 wins) - which all have a combined runtime of 7.8 hours (7 hours payed) - and Rambo has not yet died in his films (0 deaths) and has killed, according to Fandom.com, exactly 552 people (552 kills). John McClane's tease is a bit more involved, as there is a brand new website - NakatomiDuctCleaning.com - that hints at his arrival. On Twitter, Call of Duty said "Air ducts are a complicated network of danger. If yours are in need of repair, call the best business at Nakatomi Duct Cleaning."
