A new mobile game has been created in collaboration with the World Health Organisation to raise COVID-19 vaccine awareness.
Called Antidote COVID-19, its tagline "I am the Shield" is representative of a desire to increase awareness of coronavirus vaccination and other preventative measures.
Yesterday, Fortnite set tongues wagging when it revealed that both Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya would be joining the battle royale via their Dune characters.
Artwork for the skins also included one of Dune's big ol' sandworms, though now with Fishstick's head. Long-time Dune fans reacted with typical skepticism as their beloved series was brought into 21st century pop culture.
My heart sinks every time I accept a quest in MMORPG New World, which isn't ideal. These are tickets to adventure, to discovery, to that sweet, sweet EXP. But the more time I spend with the game, the more I'm beginning to loathe them. It's got nothing to do with what you actually do in them, it's the getting there that's the problem. I have to run my little legs ragged and I'm tired. I'm so very tired of it.
1990's ActRaiser is special. Most video games released in the late '80s tasked you with saving a princess from a dragon. ActRaiser says, “Hey, would you mind playing God with the people living on the demon-scarred land you just liberated? They're really squishy and helpless. Thanks, you’re a peach."
The game's developer, Quintet, was pretty special, too. Once a branch of Enix before the latter joined with Squaresoft in 2003, Quintet was behind a lot of SNES-era RPGs that are still fondly remembered today, such Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma. They’re all solid adventures that share a canon, albeit vaguely, and tackle some pretty heavy subject matter, including colonialism, poverty, and the slave trade. Alas, Quintet disbanded when Square Enix was born, and most of its team scattered to the winds. There’s been a Q-shaped hole in my heart ever since, so I hope I can be excused for yelling like a madwoman when ActRaiser Renaissance made a surprise debut at the September 2021 Nintendo Direct presentation.
Sony is testing a limited-release beta for PS5 players to share screenshots and clips through the PlayStation app.
The app update will make it far easier for users to access their game media on their phone to share straight to social media, rather than sharing directly from the console with its awkward typing function.
It's that time of year again where we come to you with a single question: would you fill out our RPS Readership Survey, please? It should only take around 5-10 minutes of your time to complete, and it will be a big help to us going forward - particularly when it comes to shaping the future of the RPS supporter program.
It's funny how attached you can become to the little bits of plastic we carry around with us. After four and a half years of diligent service - including some 300 hours of Animal Crossing, three and a bit playthroughs of Breath of the Wild, countless late night matches of Arms and somehow, inexplicably, over 100 hours in Tetris 99 without registering a single win - my launch Switch model has finally been placed peacefully into retirement as it makes way for the OLED.
After a couple of weeks with Nintendo's hardware refresh, I'm pleasantly surprised how much it reinvigorates the Switch experience, which in recent months has sometimes felt as dog-eared as my old console. Having an excuse to return to older games - and after four and a half years I've somehow managed to acquire just shy of 200 of them - is a delight, and I've begun to recapture some of that same pang of excitement I had about the console in its first few years. Skyrim on the toilet! Dark Souls in bed! And hey, I've got an all-new Metroid to keep me smiling too.

Episode 1 of The New Eurogamer Podcast, featuring Quake legend Sujoy Roy, is now available to all. This took a little longer than expected due to faffing with RSS feeds, but you should now be able to find it in all the places you podcast. If you can't, please let me know below.
Also, yes, the Eurogamer Podcast is back! But it's slightly different to what we've done before, with a new host - me! - and a new direction. I've decided to move to an interview format instead of a chat show because that's what interests me most. I like sitting people down and hearing about their lives. Some of my best work on the site, in all the many years I've worked here, has come from doing it, so that's what I'm going to be doing here.
If people ever ask what I do for a living - and after I've navigated the follow-up issue of whether I play games all day; I was once asked that while having a lumbar puncture - I generally say that I spend a lot of time thinking about how to describe things. Games are complicated pieces of technology and thought, and, in truth, anyone can have an opinion about something. So description seems to be the bit of the job that I find the most challenging and rewarding: what is something trying to do and how does it feel? What is it?
I'm not brilliant at this - which is why it's both challenging and rewarding. But I am always on the look out for people who do this description business well. And sooner or later, I always turn to Counter Intelligence, the only book from Jonathan Gold, the late, great restaurant critic from Los Angeles and the only person to ever win a Pulitzer from writing about food.
With the next phase of the MCU officially kicking off with the release of various TV shows on Disney+ like WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, along with the recent Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings, it looked like Marvel was on track with a movie release schedule that promised non-stop hype and story progression for the next two years. However, the movies originally planned for 2022 and beyond have since been pushed back, presumably due to production concerns, according to a report from Deadline.
As all the stories of these movies are interconnected in some way or another, the release timing for these movies is important. Some projects need a bit more time to wrap things up before the audience can move on to the next one, and all of them have been pushed back slightly to accommodate for this.
Below are the new release dates for the 2022 and 2023 films, though Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still sticking with its May 2023 date for now.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – May 6, 2022
Thor: Love and Thunder – July 8, 2022
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Nov. 11, 2022
The Marvels – Feb. 17, 2023
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania – July 28, 2023
Marvel fans still have plenty to look forward to, though, especially as we inch closer to the release of the highly anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home, set to premiere this December.
Forza Horizon 5 is celebrating going gold in the lead up to its release on November 9. This industry milestone means development on the game is officially finished, with discs now being prepared for physical releases, and preparations being made for digital release.
Along with the announcement of going gold, Turn 10 Studios has taken the opportunity to reveal some of the licensed music that players will be able to listen to in-game. With the new entry in the series being set in a version of Mexico, the playlist includes a lot of Spanish-language artists from across Latin America, mixed in with some hits English-speaking players may already recognize.
The initial track listing is available as a Spotify playlist, though Turn 10 has said that more tracks will be added and announced in the coming days. Here are the tracks that have currently been announced:
Atlus is continuing to reveal more trailers showcasing the over 200+ demons of its upcoming JRPG Shin Megami Tensei V.
This time around we get to see the gameplay of Quetzalcoatl, inspired by Aztec mythology and part of the franchise since 1987 with Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei.
Steam Deck is easily one of the most exciting announcements of 2021, as it looks like Valve’s looking to get into the handheld market with a powerful portable PC that can run all the games in your Steam library. Sure, the console itself looks a bit bulky and chunky, but it comes with a full controller layout and the prospect of taking your Steam games with you anywhere you go is very appealing indeed.
Valve has since gone a little more in-depth with regards to how users will be able to sort through games on the Steam Deck, and see which ones are most compatible with the device. You can check out the explanation video down below:
Essentially, all Verified games will run will on Deck, meaning that they’ve been tested and reviewed by Valve and should provide users with a good gaming experience even on handheld. There’s the Playable category, that indicates that a game will run on Deck, though you may need to tweak some settings to make it work better.
There’s the Unsupported category, which is for games that won’t function on the Steam Deck due to compatibility issues. All VR games, for instance, fall into this category. Finally, there’s the Unknown category, which simply means that these games haven’t been reviewed yet. Valve went on to confirm that categories for certain games may change over time as more updates release.
We got tons of news and announcements from this year’s DC Fandome, and amidst that glut of new trailers and videos, we also got to see more of the Injustice animated movie. It’s set to be released tomorrow on Blu-Ray and video, and DC has released a short clip from the movie, showing off our favorite superheroes in action.
You can check it out for yourself down below:
The clip features Batman and Superman going head to head with each other before they’re interrupted by a common foe. We get to see them, along with Wonder Woman, team up and take care of those enemies before returning to the matter at hand.
The story is based on the Injustice series of comics, which also spawned a popular video game adaptation from NetherRealm Studios. It’s widely regarded as one of the best superhero games out there, though it remains to be seen whether the animated movie can live up to the hype.
With Halloween fast approaching, the Fortnite Item Shop is introducing yet another new spooky character. This time it's the Graveyard Drift Quest Pack, which reimagines a Fortnite character with a new vampire-themed cosmetic set. If that doesn't suit you, maybe the entire line of DC Comics heroes and villains will. Here's everything in the Fortnite Item Shop for October 19, 2021.
What's In The Fortnite Item Shop
The headline is the brand-new Graveyard Drift Quest Pack, which gives the usually masked character Drift a vampiric makeover that includes three total styles for his new Driftwalker look, as well a slew of cosmetics to complete his Transylvanian transformation. You can get his glider, back bling, and pickaxe bundled with Driftwalker and also enjoy getting all your money back with his included quest pack.
Like other characters that come with quest packs, you'll merely need to complete challenges already in the game to earn V-Bucks with every milestone in Drift's quest pack. The Graveyard Drift bundle can't be bought with V-Bucks. Instead, it costs $15.99, but once you complete his quests, you'll earn back 2,000 V-Bucks, or about $16 worth. Here's everything in his bundle:
It’s the spooky season! And nothing says true horror like a popular video game deciding that now—despite everything we know and has come to pass—is the time to sell some NFTs.
The Haunting will go live tomorrow in both Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War, and this year’s limited Halloween event brings with it new modes, maps, Ghostface from Scream, and Frank the Rabbit from Donnie Darko.
It’s been a hot minute since Animal Crossing: New Horizons received an update, with the last one, the Super Mario 35th Anniversary Event, launching way back in March 2021. But that’s about to change now that Nintendo’s announced theHappy Home Paradise DLC dropping on November 5. This paid DLC is so big, in fact, that…
Pokémon Unite, like almost all live-service games at this spookiest time of the year, is getting in on the Halloween action with a major new patch that will, among other things, add the (not especially spooky) squirrel-like Pokémon Greedent.
Greedent makes a brief appearance in Pokémon Unite's new Halloween Festival reveal trailer, but specifics regarding its abilities are pretty limited right now. Instead, we're mostly treating to the spooky stuff, which includes a Halloween-y map makeover, replete with pumpkins and other seasonal trimmings.
Gaming on-the-go has gotten a lot of much-needed attention lately with not only the Nintendo Switch and the shiny new Nintendo Switch - OLED Model, but with the highly anticipated Steam Deck as well. The upcoming portable gaming PC enables players to take at least a decent chunk of their Steam libraries on the move,…
Coming up in the criminal world and building a self-made empire isn’t easy. In the new Saints Row, that journey from rags to riches will feature plenty of run-ins with the well-established competition in the streets of Santo Ileso. These three factions known as Los Panteros, The Idols, and Marshall have a firm grip on the illegal activities in this fictional American Southwest, and their influence runs deep. Each of these gangs has a distinct style in aesthetic and how they go about business, and all three have a representative of the new Saints in their ranks at some point, including the main character, The Boss.
As the release of Steam Deck draws ever closer, Valve continues sharing more details about its highly anticipated portable gaming PC, and the company has now announced it'll reviewing the entire Steam catalogue to create a new compatibility ratings system.
As outlined in Valve's latest video, all games on Steam will fall into one of four categories - Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown - giving Steam Deck users an easy, at-a-glance means of checking compatibility with their system.
