A Letter To Hollow Knight Silksong

2 years 2 months ago

Hey Hollow Knight Silksong,

I miss you. It's been too long since I've heard from you. Today is February 14--some may refer to it as Valentine's Day, but it's far more special than that. It's the day I and so many others got to see you for the first time. Your announcement trailer debuted on this day, three years ago.

I haven't heard much about you since.

Following your incredible reveal, we managed to connect at E3 2019--I was amazed to finally play through a portion of Pharloom, a kingdom both eerily similar and vastly different to Hollow Knight's Hollownest. And then Team Cherry continued to tease me with snippets of information about you in blog posts that stopped in December 2019, as well as articles published in magazines like Edge and [lock-on] (I read them all--my sustenance in these trying times). Every once in a while, I hear an update about you via Team Cherry's Discord server, like how you wouldn't be at E3 2021. Oh, and there were those coded riddles that Team Cherry posed to the community last year--those were pretty cool!

For now, I'm fine with all these small teases. I wish I could see more of you, but I am content to simply know that you continue to exist.

The Secret To Unraveling Destiny 2's Witch Queen Could Be Alchemy

2 years 2 months ago

Destiny's next expansion, The Witch Queen, is a few weeks away, and we know Savathun and her brood become Lightbearers. She sees the end of her immortality and the answer may be in the Light, and Bungie has steadily fed fans hints about where the story is heading. In a Bungie news update last year, a concept image of the upcoming expansion's new armor set showed the gear covered in alchemical symbols and descriptions of chemical compounds--prompting fans to pull out their periodic tables. Now, with the Witch Queen Collector’s Edition released, things are slowly starting to fall into place.

Alchemy in Destiny 2 is most likely a way to navigate the paracausal abilities in the universe. Our universe is bound by causality, but the Light and Dark, the strange energy sources that give players their in-game superpowers, break the rules of physics, so relying on a mystical science like alchemy to explain them makes sense. The Witch Queen Collector’s Edition gives us an in-depth look at Ikora’s secret intelligence group called the Hidden, and alchemy might just be their way of deciphering Savathun’s plans and the actions of the Darkness.

CrossfireX Developer Apologizes for Its Shaky Launch

2 years 2 months ago

CrossfireX's executive producer has apologized for the game's launch state that included several issues including poor connection to matches and controller sensitivity fluctuation.

In a developer update, CrossfireX executive producer Sooro Boo acknowledged the studio had disappointed many of its fans by releasing the game with these issues saying, "It’s clear that we have inadvertently disappointed many of our players and fans that have stuck with us for a long time.

Mr. Boo's developer update offered a more in-depth look at some of the issues currently afflicting players including how players were experiencing a random fluctuation of dead zones, input delay, acceleration instability, and aim dropping in their controllers; balance issues for the Boogieman kill streak; and issues where the CAR-4 ADS gun stopped the player aiming down sights while firing.

At launch CrossfireX's official Twitter page also spent time to address other issues players were encountering including long queue times, campaign availability on Xbox Game Pass, and more.

The Uncharted Movie Audiobook Is Narrated By Nolan North

2 years 2 months ago

Uncharted arrives in theaters on February 18, but if you’d rather read the cinematic adaptation instead, a novelization of the film releases tomorrow. And if you’d rather listen to your books based on blockbuster films based on triple-A video games, Variety reports that the audiobook version has an added dose of authenticity since it’ll be narrated by the original Nathan Drake himself, Nolan North.

Uncharted: The Official Movie Novelization goes on sale on February 15 and puts the exploits of Tom Holland's Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg's Victor “Sully” Sullivan from screen to page. The book is written by sci-fi and horror author S.D. Perry, who previously penned a series of books based on Resident Evil, Alien, Star Trek, and other properties. North, who brought Nathan Drake to life throughout the Uncharted video game series, will lend his talent to the film’s younger spin on the hero. Per Variety, North says he won’t be imitating Holland’s performance one-to-one, saying “I kind of just did me. I tried to young him up a little bit.” North also provides his spins on Walhberg’s Sully as well as its other characters including Antonio Banderas' villain, Moncada.

Link Has Had Enough of the Yiga Clan in This Hilarious Fan-Made Breath of the Wild Short

2 years 2 months ago

In Breath of the Wild, there are a lot of different enemies that Link has to look out for if he hopes to save the Kingdom and defeat Ganon. And while Lynel, Talus, and Bokoblin (oh my!) may be some of the more annoying ones to fight in the game, nothing compares to the Yigas.

These Sheikah assassins and thieves do anything in their power to try and ruin Link’s day, often dressing up as citizens in need of help or assistance before transforming and attacking out of thin air. Well, one Redditor has perfectly shown just how sick of this clan we are, creating a hilarious video and posting it to the Breath of the Wild subreddit.

As you can see in the post above, user M4Dheart made a cartoon that shows what happens to a Yiga Clan member that interrupts Link’s morning coffee. The Hyrule legend knows all too well what they’re up to, and makes them pay while barely even trying.

Before we head into a discussion of that trailer, we should note that things could get spoilery, especially if you’re not caught up on the current state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So if that’s you, maybe avoid reading the rest of this story. SNK Says Metal Slug: Awakening PS4 and PS5 Announcement is Fake

SNK took to Twitter to alert people that news about an alleged Metal Slug: Awakening PS4 and PS5 game is fake. It offered the clarification after some thought the false announcement is real. The actual Metal Slug: Awakening — known at one point as Metal Slug Code: J — is an Android and Apple iOS game.

Here is the alert.

Metal Slug: Awakening is a run-and-gun game by Tencent Games’ Timi Studio. (That’s the developer behind Pokemon Unite and the Japan-only Saint Seiya: Awakening.) The initial announcements noted that characters like Eri Kasamoto, Fio Germi, Marco Rossi, and Tarma Roving will return. In May 2021, SNK shared an updated trailer looking at beta footage for the game.

Durandal Palatinus Equinox Battlesuit’s Guardian and Knight Forms Detailed

Durandal Palatinus Equinox Battlesuit’s Guardian and Knight Forms Detailed

The Honkai Impact 3rd Durandal Palatinus Equinox IMG-type battlesuit is a unique one, as players can switch it between two forms. Each one has its own specialty. The Guardian form is more defensive, while Knight can be more offensive. MiHoYo’s latest update detailed what people can expect from its moveset. It also mentioned what the Blade Durandal ELF can do.

Editor’s Note: MiHoYo’s original article and one of the Palatinus Equinox’s moves involve spoilers for Honkai Impact 3rd.

The Palatinus Equinox moveset varies depending on if Durandal is a Guardian or Knight. If she is in her Guardian form, she can use her basic Immortal Kaslana attack, charged Equinox Severance attack, or could dodge with her Duality of Antimony evasion. These deal physical DMG. In the case of both attacks, equipping Midnight Eclipse or Midnight Ataegina also gives her the ability to fire a cannon.

Should Knight form be engaged, Durandal will ride on Krishna. The Duality of Antinomy evasion skill will change and involve her riding away. Enemies are thrown if she uses a weapon skill. She also gains the special attack Glorious Schariac. Her Ultimate is Equinox March.

Shin Japan Heroes Universe Unites Evangelion, Godzilla, Ultraman, and Kamen Rider Reboots

2 years 2 months ago

Shin Japan Heroes Universe

What do Godzilla, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Evangelion's Unit-01 have in common? They've all have had projects in their name helmed by Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno. Those might be the key factors in a new initiative called Shin Japan Heroes Universe, which may be aiming to unite the four under one banner.

The project was teased by the official Shin Kamen Rider social media account.

https://twitter.com/Shin_KR/status/1493057409337622529

The account shows off some art of Kamen Rider, Ultraman, Unit-01, and Godzilla standing in formation, along with a logo bearing their likenesses. The Shin Japan Heroes Universe will be a "collaboration project" between Shin Godzilla, Shin Kamen Rider, Shin Ultraman, and Rebuild of Evangelion (whose Japanese title is Shin Evangelion). Though the tweet encouraged those interested to wait for new information, an official website opened up that hint at what's to come.
