What We Want In Kingdom Hearts 4

Publisher: Square Enix
Developer: Square Enix

To the delight of many a fan, Square Enix announced Kingdom Hearts IV yesterday. The tantalizing cinematic trailer showed off a more mature-looking Sora exploring a realistic human city invaded by Heartless. Naturally, the video raised countless questions, but it also led us to gush about the things we want to see in the hotly-anticipated sequel.

That’s why we, the Kingdom Hearts fans in the Game Informer office, couldn’t help but share our personal hopes and dreams for the next game. Let us know what you think of our wishlists, and be sure to share your own desires and expectations down in the comments!

Wesley LeBlanc

There are two things I want most out of Kingdom Hearts IV: A new Pirates of the Caribbean world that builds off of the foundation of Kingdom Hearts III’s iteration, and a full (Dream Drop) dive into Quadratum, the world of Verum Rex, and ultimately, Nomura’s Final Fantasy Versus XIII Frankenstein monster by way of Kingdom Hearts.

Cyberpunk 2077: "There Is Work To Be Done," Says Quest Director

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.5 made substantial adjustments to CD Projekt Red's RPG, but the Polish developer is aware that more needs to be done. The team is still working on the game.

As noticed by TheGamer, Reddit user KamilCesaro posted a clip from one of Cyberpunk 2077 quest director Paweł Sasko's Twitch streams, in which the developer provided a brief behind-the-scenes view of CD Projekt Red's priorities.

"I can assure you that we are working on an expansion--we're working on stuff for you guys besides that," Sasko said. "That didn't change, we are still improving the game because we are all aware there is work to be done."

This is in line to CD Projekt Red's message a year ago--abandoning Cyberpunk 2077 isn't an option. In April 2021, CD Projekt Red studio head Adam Kicinski said, "I don't see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077. We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come."

CoD: Warzone Rebirth Island Golden Vault Easter Egg Is Finally Live

The recent Rebirth Reinforced community challenge has been completed in Call of Duty: Warzone, and an Easter egg is now live for players to unlock the map's three golden vaults.

Season 2 Reloaded's Rebirth Reinforced event added several challenges to Warzone's Rebirth Island map, which allowed players to reach community goals in order to unlock new features on the map. On April 11, the last community challenge was complete, which required players to collect $40 trillion in cash within Rebirth Island's Rebirth Blood Money Quads playlist. Completing this challenge awarded participants with 100,000 XP and activated the Golden Vault Easter egg.

Rebirth Island's three golden vaults can now be unlocked and the Easter egg has been solved, as Easter egg hunter GeekyPastimes worked through the steps on stream with his community to solve the mystery. The steps involve finding remotes in Rebirth Island's prison and listening to numerical codes from a red telephone, which works much like Warzone's past bunker Easter eggs. Players can use our full guide to unlock the golden vaults in their next match on Rebirth Island.

Once opened with the Easter egg steps, Rebirth Island's golden vaults give players access to high-tier loot, such as legendary rarity weapons, armor, perks, and killstreaks. Warzone's Rebirth Reinforced event is set to conclude on April 14, as Call of Duty Season 3 is just around the corner.

Bird-themed digital board game adaptation Wingspan's European Expansion out in May

Wingspan, the rather lovely digital adaptation of Stonemaier Games' equally lovely bird-themed board game, will be ushering a fresh flock of avians into its welcoming habitats from 5th May, come the launch of its first major gameplay DLC, the European Expansion.

Wingspan's European Expansion builds on the core game's soothing, strategic deck building - which Eurogamer's Robert Purchese was rather taken with when he first put it through its paces some time back now - by introducing 81 new bird cards from the European area, each accompanied by a recording of its actual sound.

These new birds will bring a range of fresh abilities for use during play - such as the option to steal other players' food, to place cards on already played cards, and to reset the bird feeder - and you'll find a little more in the way of specifics on the official European Expansion website.

Call of Duty: Warzone's Rebirth Island continues to evolve, and now the Rebirth Reinforced event has unlocked the map's three Golden Vaults, but you'll need to complete a few Easter egg steps to complete it. Here we'll guide you through locating the vaults, and everything you need to know to make use of these in your next match on Rebirth Island.

Golden Vaults

As a community, players were challenged to collect $40 trillion in cash within Rebirth Island's Rebirth Blood Money Quads playlist. Completing this challenge awarded participants with 100,000 XP and unlocked the Golden Vault Easter egg.

How to complete the Golden Vault Easter egg

To complete the Easter egg for any of the vaults, you'll need to first visit the map's prison block. There are six remotes that must be found inside the prison in various prison cells on both the top and bottom levels.

Remote in a prison cell

You must find and activate all six to trigger a red phone to ring on the second story of the prison block. This phone will give you the code needed to open a golden vault.

Latest Nintendo Switch Sports Trailer Brings the Thrill of Sports to Life

The latest trailer for the upcoming game Nintendo Switch Sports brings the thrill of different sports to life. It features a young girl who imagines herself to be on real-life pitches and courts as she faces off in sports like soccer, tennis, and more against her family.

In all, the trailer features each of the sports that will be available to play in Nintendo Switch Sports: soccer, volleyball, bowling, tennis, badminton, and chambara. For each sport, we see the young girl playing in these real sports settings, but a giant screen with the video game is set up in front of her. It then flashes to where she really is, which is in her living room playing with her family.

It’s meant to show how playing the game can make you feel like you are truly playing the sport on a real-life professional court or field, especially when making use of the Joy-Con leg strap for realistic motion controls. The theme of the trailer is “Run This House,” demonstrating the competitive nature of challenging family and friends.

You can watch this latest trailer for Nintendo Switch Sports below. It’s pretty awesome to see how each of the in-game sports translates to a real-life setting, and the competition against family members is very reminiscent of the Wii Sports days.

Elden Ring - How To Beat The Elden Beast

You've finally taken down Radagon. Congratulations! Defeating him is no easy feat. Unfortunately, his fight--which could easy stand alone as one of the toughest encounters in Elden Ring on its own--is really just phase one. Now it's time for phase two. Meet: The Elden Beast, servant to the Greater Will and the true form of the Elden Ring itself.

Whereas Radagon is a test of timing and reflex, the Elden Beast is a test of endurance. With one of the most massive health bars in From Software history, it can feel like there's no end in sight, and knowing that you have to beat Radagon all over again just to get back to the arena can lead to particularly demoralizing defeats. But fear not! Once you learn the most dangerous attacks to look out for--and how to avoid them--you'll come out victorious in no time.

What to know before going in

Basically all the advice for preparing for the Radagon fight remains true for the Elden Beast. You'll want to be at a high level (somewhere in the 150 range to be safe), with at least 40 points invested into Vigor. Get your weapon leveled up as much as possible to maximize damage and shorten the duration of the encounter--the less time you spend fighting, the fewer chances there will be to get caught in one of its devastating attacks.

Just like Radagon, the Elden Beast has multiple attacks that deal Holy Damage. Stock up on Holyproof Dried Livers or equip Lord's Divine Fortification for some extra protection.

Halo: Master Chief Collection Adds Flood Firefight and Campaign Crossplay

A new update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection went live today and adds a “new” Firefight mode alongside other additions and changes for the almost eight-year-old package of games.

The biggest addition in the update is the fan-favorite FloodFight Firefight mode for Halo 3: ODST, which added the Flood enemy to the wave-based cooperative mode. 343 Industries said that the Flood received new upgrades in this returning mode, such as the little parasites being accompanied by a dense fog and the ability to take over vehicles and their weapons.

The Flood also received three new forms, and can infect or resurrect AI companions. The studio has added new “boons” that includes “weapon racks containing assault rifles and battle rifles” across Firefight missions to combat the new enemy.

The update also brings campaign crossplay for Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST, so players across PC and Xbox consoles can now play the cooperative campaign together alongside UI improvements, Halo 4 campaign weapon customization, 51 new multiplayer medals in Halo 3, exclusive campaign skulls returning for several games, and more. Check out the rest of additions in the Halo Waypoint blog post.

343 Industries said it would continue the Halo: The Master Chief Collection with plans to add mod support for every game in the collection, more campaign collectibles, and more updates throughout the year since the game has moved on from a seasonal schedule for content.

Sony Invests $1 Billion Into Epic Games' Metaverse Development

Epic Game has announced it has received a $2 billion investment into its metaverse development, half of which comes from Sony.

The PlayStation maker, which already has a minority interest in Epic, has thrown $1 billion at the Unreal and Fortnite developer to create “new social entertainment exploring the connection between digital and physical worlds," according to a press release. The other billion comes from investment holding company Kirkbi, majority owner of The Lego Group. Last week, Epic announced a partnership with Lego to develop a family-friendly metaverse targeting children. The press release states that today's investment would bring Epic's estimated valuation to 31.5 billion.

“As a creative entertainment company, we are thrilled to invest in Epic to deepen our relationship in the metaverse field, a space where creators and users share their time,” said Sony Group president, chairman, and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida in the press release. “We are also confident that Epic’s expertise, including their powerful game engine, combined with Sony’s technologies, will accelerate our various efforts such as the development of new digital fan experiences in sports and our virtual production initiatives.”

Huge Halo: MCC Update Adds Flood Firefight, Campaign Cross-Play For Halo 3 And ODST

Updates for Halo: The Master Chief Collection are slowing down as 343 shifts focus to Halo Infinite, but a big one out today delivers new and exciting features to the compilation package. This is a very large update, coming in at around 21.5GB on Xbox, 26.5GB on Microsoft Store app or Xbox app on PC, and about 11.2GB on Steam.

The big-ticket items for the April 11 MCC patch include a new mode, Flood Firefight, as well as co-op crossplay support added to the campaigns for Halo 3 and ODST. What's more, MCC now has full custom game browser support, while there are a host of other updates and tweaks for the game.

Flood Firefight comes to Halo: MCC

The new mode is Flood Firefight, which, as its name suggests, adds the evil Flood enemies to Firefight rounds. The Flood appear in Firefight with an eerie-looking fog element that dynamically fades in and out. Additionally, Flood can get into vehicles and they have new animations and abilities.

"ODSTs can be infected and resurrected by the Flood. Beware, as you may have to fight your own resurrected allies--or even yourself!" 343 said.

Beyond that, 343 has added the ability to use the Energy Sword and Sentinel Beam in ODST for the first time, while players can now trade weapons with allies, too. What's more, weapon racks with assault rifles and battle rifles are now in Firefight to help players take down the Flood. Some maps have Flamethrowers, too, to help you deal with the enemies.

New Apex Legends Update Finally Fixes Wattson On Storm Point

Respawn has released a new update for Apex Legends. The hotfix addresses an issue on Storm Point that has been plaguing Wattson, Rampart, and Pathfinder since the start of the Warriors Collection Event.

When the Warriors Collection Event went live on March 29, the accompanying update had the unforeseen side effect of suddenly making it unnecessarily difficult to use Wattson, Rampart, and Pathfinder's abilities that require placing an object while playing on Storm Point.

This meant you could try to put down Rampart's Amped Wall on the ground or fire Pathfinder's Zipline Gun into a wall and the game would register normally fine placement spots as unavailable, preventing players from using these abilities.

This was an especially heavy, albeit unintentional, nerf towards Wattson whose entire kit is dependent on purposeful placement of her Perimeter Security tactical ability and Interception Pylon ultimate ability. Without reliable access to either, she's been basically unplayable on Storm Point for the entirety of the two-week event.

A New Subnautica Game Is In The Works

The developer behind the survival game Subnautica, Unknown Worlds, is working on the next entry in the series.

Back in February, Unknown Worlds posted a call out for a lead programmer within the studio and new job listings have continued to be published online. These include a senior narrative designer, environmental artists, and material artists. The most recent of these, the senior narrative designer position, explicitly notes that the role will be working on "the next game in the Subnautica universe."

Not only is a new Subnautica game in development, but Unknown Worlds is also creating a new turn-based sci-fi IP called Project M. It is the studio's first project since it was acquired by PUBG developer Krafton late last year. Project M was initially teased last year along with the acquisition announcement and is scheduled to enter early access sometime this year.

WoW: Wrath Of The Lich King Classic Survey Hints At Possible Microtransactions

A "Classic" version of World of Warcraft's 2008 Wrath of the Lich King expansion seems to be in the cards, and a new survey from Blizzard gives hints as to what kind of microtransactions players can possibly expect come the game's official announcement.

As reported by Wowhead, certain players recently received a survey asking for their opinion on a number of optional add-ons for "the next World of Warcraft Classic package" and how appealing each would be if offered as part of a paid bundle. Mentioned in the survey are character boosts up to level 68, character boosts specifically for new Death Knight characters, mounts usable in both Classic and the current live version of WoW, character transfers, exclusive pets, and more.

The survey goes on to present two possible add-on bundles for players to purchase, asking which they would be more likely to pay for. One option includes a one-time level 68 character boost, a Death Knight character boost, and a toy for $50, while the other includes a character boost gift (to be given to another player), a character transfer, mounts for use in WoW Classic and modern WoW, and 30 days of game time for $30.

While the vanilla version of WoW Classic only allowed for paid character transfers and didn't include any additional add-ons or the ability to purchase character boosts, Blizzard did offer what it called a $40 "Dark Portal Pass" for the release of Burning Crusade Classic in 2019, which essentially served as a fancy name for a character boost. It also offered a digital deluxe edition, which included the Dark Portal Pass as well as an exclusive mount, special hearthstone, unique toy, and 30 days of game time for $70.

Capcom's Arcade Stadium retro compilation officially getting a sequel in June

Capcom has confirmed a sequel to its Arcade Stadium retro compilation is on the way - consisting of 32 more classic titles - after references to a follow-up were spotted on the South Korean game classification website earlier this month.

Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium, as the sequel is known, will follow the same release model as its predecessor, consisting of a free base download that includes one game and offering additional titles to purchase from within the collection. Quite why Capcom has decided a sequel is necessary, given the modular, expandable nature of the original, is currently unclear.

"The second Capcom Arcade Stadium title featuring a recreated arcade full of authentic cabinets to play", is how the publisher describes the sequel in a reference on Steam, promising "a new lineup of masterpieces!". And in a seperate tweet, it's now confirmed that lineup will total 32 arcade classics when it comes to Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC this June.

Cyberpunk 2077 Is Far From Finished: "We Are All Aware There Is Work To Be Done"

While Cyberpunk 2077 has significantly improved from its notoriously difficult launch, a developer from CD Projekt says the game still has a long way to go. In a video posted on the Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit, Quest Director Paweł Sasko shared some behind-the-scenes information about Cyberpunk 2077. When asked if CD Projekt is planning to deliver a DLC expansion this year, Sasko explained the studio's priorities.

"I can assure you that we are working [on an] expansion, we're working [on] stuff for you guys besides that," Sasko said. "That didn't change, we are still improving the game because we are all aware there is work to be done."

Sasko also expressed appreciation for the positive feedback they've received about Cyberpunk 2077's next-gen release, adding that the fan reaction has given the developers more incentive to work hard on the game.

"We're very happy you guys liked [Patch 1.5], and that gives us more...incentive to work for you guys because you show your appreciation for it," Sasko said. "That's as much as I can tell you. We are working on stuff for you. Like I'm literally daily reviewing quests, talking to people about stuff, so it is happening."
