Lego Builder's Journey Is Out Today On PlayStation Consoles With New Creative Mode
Like an intricate set of Lego, the platforms of Lego Builder's Journey is available on has slowly been building up, and now the pieces are in place for the game to finally become available on PlayStation consoles.
As of today, PS5 and PS4 owners can take on all kinds of Lego building challenges in this relaxing puzzler from Light Brick Studio. The PlayStation 5 version has updated visuals compared to the last-gen machines, offering ray tracing like its Xbox Series X counterpart. New to the game is Creative Mode, which allows players to make their "most imaginative builds" a reality. According to a press release shared with Game Informer, this mode starts players out with a curated set of bricks to "create models and scenes, with virtually endless build plates to build upon." Outside of Creative Mode, the game includes its original single-player puzzles nestled within a story of a parent and child learning the importance of playing together.
Valve needs to make Portal 3 soon, writer says
Portal co-writer Erik Wolpaw has called for Valve to put a third game in production soon - before the original development team becomes too old to return.
"I am not getting any younger," Wolpaw told KiwiTalkz (thanks, Kotaku). "We are reaching the point where it's crazy to think [the original development team is] literally going to be too old to work on Portal 3, so we should just do it."
Unfortunately, Wolpaw acknowledged the business considerations of Valve focusing a chunk of its workforce on a Portal 3 - especially when the company had the money-printing Steam and hugely successful Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to run instead.
Return to Monkey Island will start at an amusement park, new screenshots revealed
After years (and years) of silence that led many to assume the Monkey Island brand had fallen by the wayside, original creator Ron Gilbert announced a return to its tropical isles earlier this month in the aptly named Return to Monkey Island. Now, Gilbert has also revealed his new game in the series will start off where Monkey Island: LeChuck's Revenge finished – at an amusement park.
"One of the things that was very important to me about this was that I did want the game to start right at the end of Monkey Island 2, when you walk into that amusement park. I wanted the game to start there," Gilbert told Adventure Gamers.
"That was kind of my one criteria: we need to start the game there. I don't want to go into all the details of it, but we do start there, and then it takes lots of weird twists and turns that you would expect from us."

Latest Elden Ring Patch Adjusts Sorcery, Incantation, And Weapon Skill Balancing
Elden Ring is no stranger to post-launch updates. There are more weapons and magics than we can count, and players have been discovering plenty of powerful (arguably, too powerful) abilities to slay the open-world adventure’s Great Enemies. Like the patches before it, the latest 1.04 Version of Elden Ring focuses on stabilizing and balancing the loop by adjusting sorceries, incantations, and weapon skills.

Elden Ring's Secret Underwear Is Being Used by Trolls to Get Players Banned
Elden Ring trolls are soft-banning players by dropping the game's secret underwear in their worlds. Yes, that's a sentence that exists.
The Deathbed Smalls - a scanty piece of equipment which is only obtainable through hacking - will seemingly soft-ban players for six months if picked up, meaning they can only play online with hackers.
Vice reported a recent spike of players experiencing this issue, with several Reddit users complaining about their accounts being quarantined after other players enter their world and drop the Deathbed Smalls.
This can be done with any item and, as Elden Ring's multiplayer encourages cooperation, players often drop powerful weapons and items to help their fellow Tarnished.
Picking up the Deathbed Smalls therefore appears fairly normal, but players are soon made aware of the risk when they receive a warning message from developer FromSoftware.
"Unauthorised tampering with the game has been detected," it reads. "If any unauthorised tampering with the game is detected, a quarantine penalty of 180 days will be imposed."

Elden Ring Patch 1.04 Notes Reveal Major Rebalancing of Magic & Weapons
FromSoftware’s latest update for Elden Ring is a big one. Patch 1.04 notes released today reveal major changes to the balance of weapons, items, and notably, magic/incantations, which should result in substantially more Intelligence/Faith build options moving forward.
Indeed, while Elden Ring’s magic system has been widely praised for its huge array of interesting and plain cool-to-look-at spells, many of them aren’t really viable due to long cast times and large FP consumption. Pragmatic spellcasters quickly noticed that the flashy spells found toward the end of the game were spectacular to behold but not especially functional, which was a bit frustrating. After all, you want the cool spells to actually do the damage in combat! That should be the case moving forward.
As you’ll see below, the changes aren’t limited to magic, though. There are a bunch of rebalances for melee weapons, too, as well as the many weapon skills associated with them. Here’s the full overview:
Major Changes Included in the Latest Update
Additional Elements Added
- Added an option to turn camera auto rotate function ON/OFF
- Added some event phases for the NPC “Patches”

Elden Ring players banned for obtaining pants from other players
Elden Ring players are getting soft banned for picking up pants dropped by other players.
As previously reported, players discovered a cut pair of underwear in the game. The Deathbed Smalls were meant to be part of the NPC Fia's armour set, but are unobtainable without hacking the game.
But hacks and mods cannot be used without by-passing the game's anti-cheat system. And simply owning the pants - even if obtained by another player - is seemingly enough to trigger a soft ban.

Streets of Rage movie in development
Sega is eyeing a big-screen outing for its classic side-scrolling beat 'em up series Streets of Rage, Deadline has reported.
A script for the film adaptation has been written by Derek Kolstad, creator and lead writer for the hugely-lucrative John Wick franchise.
Sega is reportedly keen to replicate the film success of its Sonic the Hedgehog series, and has tapped the same production company, dj2 Entertainment, to now work on Streets of Rage too.
Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion: CD Projekt Clears Up Team Size Confusion
CD Projekt Red has clarified that half of its studio is working on the first Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, after sparking some confusion about the number of developers involved last week.
In a chart from its latest financial report (now updated), the developer originally stated the largest portion of its team was working on "other projects including the new game in The Witcher IP" but has since made clear that this is not the case.
CD Projekt Red's investor relations Twitter account raised the mistake and confirmed that "the biggest part of our team is currently working on the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion."
Unfortunately, there was an error in the legend to the chart which presented our team allocation in FY2021 presentation. Obviously - as was said during the call - the biggest part of our team is currently working on the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion. Go to: https://t.co/Ut4Fu6MSOk
Elden Ring: New Patch Nerfs a Popular Way to Beat Malenia
Elden Ring's patch 1.04 has nerfed an incantation that's been used as part of a popular tactic in the fight against the game's most difficult boss, Malenia, Blade of Miquella.
The incantation Swarm of Flies has been altered as part of the latest gameplay changes. The blood-based magic now has "Decreased blood loss buildup on enemy," and the community is already noting the impact it will have on the fight with Malenia.
Basically you patched how to beat Malenia with Swarm!
— GG_Elitee (@GG_Elitee) April 19, 2022
Melenia is an incredibly difficult battle, and many players have been using Swarm of Flies to build up blood loss at range in order to eventually deal substantial damage to the deadly swordswoman. Anecdotally, during my scraps with her I've noticed that it's a very popular choice among summons. Following the nerf, players in the community are already noting that the fight could be just that little bit more difficult now.

Jason Momoa reportedly joining cast of Minecraft live-action film
Jason Momoa, known for his hulking and somewhat imposing roles in Game of Thrones, Dune and Justice League, is on the cusp of landing his newest role. But this time, it seems the muscular lead will be taking on a much blockier persona than we are used to seeing, as The Hollywood Reporter has reported Momoa is currently in "final talks" for Warner Bros.' live-action Minecraft adaptation.
While his part is not set in stone (cuboid or otherwise), it certainly looks hopeful. So, will he be Steve, or a whole new hero? Or even, the villain? I guess we will have to wait and see.
Along with some potential Mamoa-ness, Variety has additionally revealed the upcoming Minecraft film has also landed Napoleon Dynamite's Jared Hess as its director. Meanwhile, Dune producer Mary Parent will produce the film, alongside Roy Lee.
Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio big budget reboots in works at Sega
Sega is creating "big-budget reboots" of past hits Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio, it has been reported.
Bloomberg states these projects are the first to come from Sega's myserious "Super Game" initiative - and that two more, one a first-person shooter, are also in the works.
Development on all the above is still early, with Crazy Taxi reportedly still "two to three years" away despite being in development for "over a year" already.
Playing ten different game genres on the Steam Deck: what works and what doesn’t
It gets easier every day to find out which games will simply run on a Steam Deck; the list of Steam Verified-rated games is regularly extending, and SteamDB are keeping track of Playable and Unsupported games as well. Still, while these may be old favourites that you’ve already sunk hours into on a desktop, you might still be wondering how these games play when transplanted to the smaller screen and gamepad-ish controls of a handheld.
Liam was wondering it, anyway. Thus, he picked ten difference game genres from the most-played on Steam, asked me to play at least one game that would broadly represent each, and report back on which are the most (and least) suited to life on the Steam Deck.
Elden Ring Update 1.04 Adds Dozens of Buffs, and New Quest Events for Patches
Elden Ring's 1.04 update is released across all platforms today, and brings big changes for strength builds and magic users – not to mention adds new quest events for FromSoft in-joke NPC, Patches.
Announced by publisher Bandai Namco, the new patch is split broadly into four sections – Major Changes, Sorcery/Incantation, Weapon Skill, and Bug Fixes.
The Major changes include new event phases for Patches, although no detail is added about what those are – we'll have to wait for players to suss that out, it seems.
Fans with strength-based builds are also celebrating changes to Colossal weapons that increase attack speed, decrease recovery time, and increase two-handed damage. It makes heading out into Elden Ring's vicious world with a gigantic weapon that little bit more viable than before.
New players will also receive a boost after FP and stamina growth were increased at lower levels, and many will be delighted to hear that the madness status effect now comes with a shorter unskippable animation.
New update for Elden Ring brings further balance changes
The latest patch for Elden Ring is now live, bringing a whole host of small changes.
Patch 1.04 has improved stability of gameplay and made a large number of balance tweaks to weapons, sorceries, and weapon skills. It also adds an option to change camera auto-rotation and some additional event phases for the NPC Patches.
In particular, the attack speed of colossal weapons has been increased to make them a more viable option for pure melee builds.
Returnal director says game's difficulty and narrative are inseparable
Returnal director Harry Krueger has addressed the game's difficulty, saying it's integral to the narrative.
Interviewed by Kinda Funny Games, Krueger was asked by Greg Miller for his thoughts on the difficulty of Returnal and its impact on accessibility.
"I think we can always do more, could always add more support for different ways to play the game and different control methods and so on. I think when it comes to difficulty, I think it is a question of what kind of experience you are having with Returnal," said Krueger.
Fortnite v20.20 Update Adds New Ranger Shotgun, Covert Ops Quest & More
Epic Games has just rolled out the Fortnite v20.20 update for its Battle Royale game mode, adding in a new Ranger Shotgun, a Covert Ops questline, and sees the return of Boogie Bombs and Rift-to-Gos before they’re pitted against each other in a vote on the Funding Boards.
The news comes via a blog post over on the official Fortnite website, outlining the new additions.
In terms of the story of the season that’s seeing the Resistance fighting back against the IO forces, the battle has moved on from Condo Canyon and is now focused around Coney Crossroads. Help push the IO back in this named location, but watch out for Huntmaster Saber in his blimp overhead.
The Fortnite 20.20 update also adds the new Ranger Shotgun. A burst shotgun that has one shot per reload. Each shot from the Ranger Shotgun deals large amounts of damage and is effective at longer ranges compared to other shotgun types currently in the game. It comes in five rarities — Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary — with the reload and damage output increasing with each rarity.
It should be noted that the Ranger Shotgun has not been added into competitive playlists as it’s currently undergoing an evaluation period.
If a powerful shotgun doesn’t do it for you, then the update also sees the return of the Boogie Bomb and Rift-to-Go items to the island. The Boogie Bomb, when thrown, causes all players caught in its radius to break out into dancing, preventing them from engaging in combat.
The Rift-to-Go can be used at any time to be transported and spit out of a Rift overhead, allowing you to glide to safety away from the encroaching storm circle or enemy players.
Off Topic: Severance and The Crowd - back in 1928 it was already clear that work is weird
I've spent the long bank holiday weekend being drawn into Severance, the Apple TV show about a group of people working in a very strange office. It's a beautiful thing, and I don't want to spoil it. What I can tell you, if you haven't seen it, is that it picks ceaselessly at the idea of work - of what work does to us, what work makes us do to ourselves. It's a series about the contortions that work encourages on our personalities.
While these issues feel uniquely topical, I guess they have been around as long as work has - which, for the case of office work, with its water coolers and break rooms, its who-moved-my-cheese?, isn't really that long at all. I've quoted the Hart Crane poem about elevators dropping us from our days too often on Eurogamer for it to have its original force, but anyway, that poem was written in 1930, and it feels like it was an attempt in part to grapple with the way that a lot of people the poet knew were suddenly living - commuting each day to an office, finding their floor, their desk, and engaging with something that was relatively new.
And already strange. Severance argues that office work is bizarre - unnatural is the unspoken verdict I think - but if you go back to 1928 and The Crowd, a wonderful, soaring silent movie by King Vidor, you see much the same point made in a dramatic sequence that, once seen, is hard to put out of mind.
Activision Blizzard not working on NFTs, despite reports
Blizzard president Mike Ybarra has rebuked claims that Activision Blizzard is looking to incorporate NFTs into its games.
Over the weekend, it was reported that Activision Blizzard was seemingly gauging players' interest in cryptocurrency and NFT products through a YouGov survey. However, in response to an article about this alleged move, Ybarra simply replied, "No one is doing NFTs."
So, I guess that is that.
Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio Reportedly Getting 'Big Budget' Reboots
Sega is reportedly working on "big-budget" reboots for Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio, with the intention of creating new installments that generate recurring revenue and online communities.
According to a report from Bloomberg, the reboots are part of Sega's Super Game inititiative, which aims to create games with large communities and the ability to generate a long tail of revenue. Basically the Fortnite model of microstransaction-fuelled content drops.
Bloomberg's sources claim that the Crazy Taxi reboot has been in development for over a year, and that Sega aims to release it within the next two or three years. It and Jet Set Radio are allegedly two of four planned 'Super Games', with a third apparently being a first-person shooter that aims to generate $780 million overe its lifetime.
Both Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio date back to the Dreamcast, and so it seems as if nostalgia may be part of Sega's plan here, should the games be a reality. And even if both are in active development, Bloomberg's sources state that they are both in the early stages and could still be cancelled.
Battlefield 2042 Finally Gets Voice Chat, But Only For Squads and Parties
Voice chat has finally arrived in Battlefield 2042 five months after it launched in November last year. The feature won't let you speak with everyone online, though, as channels are limited to either Squad or Party chats.
It arrives in Battlefield 2042's Update 4.0 update, coming today, April 19, which includes hundreds of other fixes and adjustments as detailed in developer DICE's latest blog post.
The update is headlined by voice chat, or VOIP (voice over internet protocol), which has been one of the most highly requested features since launch, and which some players believe should have always been in the game.
Other changes include a UI refresh of the scoreboard (that was first added last month), balance updates to specialists, weapons, and vehicles, and an improved progression system that allows Ribbons to be more easily unlocked.
Players' experience with Battlefield 2042 has been fairly turbulent so far as it launched with myriad issues and quickly became one of Steam's worst reviewed games despite being very popular.

To date, there's been no official word on Game Boy emulation for Nintendo Switch, though Eurogamer previously reported that it was being worked on by Nintendo.

MTG Commander: Full Obscura Operation Decklist and WOTC’s Gavin Verhey on the Rise of Treasures
With Magic: The Gathering’s new Streets of New Capenna set just over the horizon, IGN is excited to reveal the full decklist for its Obscura Operation Commander preconstructed deck. Alongside official first looks at all of the deck's new cards, I spoke with Wizards of the Coast senior designer Gavin Verhey to discuss its saboteur-focused design, the rise of Treasure tokens in Commander, and one of the deck’s breakout cards.
Like all five of New Capenna’s Commander decks, each based on a different one of its five demonic crime families, Obscura Operation contains 17 brand new Magic cards. It’s a White-Blue-Black deck lead by Kamiz, Obscura Oculus, with a strategy centered around using creatures that have a triggered abilities when they hit an opposing player – often referred to as “saboteurs.”
Flip through the gallery below to see all of the new cards alongside the full decklist, and read on just below that to hear Verhey talk about the deck itself and the increasing prevalence of Treasures in the format.

ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition Slated for September Launch on Nintendo Switch
Having grown a fervent community on the PC and console space for quite some time now, ARK: Survival Evolved remains a popular game for those looking for some time with dinosaurs. Although its first foray onto the Nintendo Switch was not exactly stellar, Studio Wildcard is not throwing in the towel just yet. In a new announcement, the developers revealed that ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition is coming to the Nintendo Switch this coming September.
This new package will include the base game as well as expansion packs, which include Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, and Genesis Parts 1 & 2. Both the base game and the Scorched Earth expansion pack will be available at launch, with the other expansions following suit every two months.
There will be new cinematic story content to expand the narrative, custom server support, and a new educational mode that will put knowledge first for the younger players eager to learn more about dinosaurs.
Perhaps the best news of all is that current owners of ARK: Survival Evolved on the Nintendo Switch will be able to enjoy the improvements in functionality, graphics, and optimization brought about by the new version. Your progress and save data will also be maintained, although there is no word on the expansions being given away for free.

As for the next group of preorders, more details will be shared soon in regards to estimates and other important bits of information.

Microsoft Rewarding PC Game Pass Free Trial to Players of Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5 & Age of Empires IV
Playing games does pay sometimes, as Microsoft has announced it is offering a three-month free trial of its PC Game Pass service as an incentive for players to join. This will apply to anyone who has enjoyed Halo Infinite, Age of Empires IV, or Forza Horizon 5 from the game’s respective launch to Feb. 28, 2022. Of course, the caveat is that it is only for players who have never subscribed to the service before.
So for those who have previously cancelled and are looking for a way back, this is not it. The offer also does not extend to players in Russia and India. The platform on which you have bought and played these games will not matter either, so be it Steam or the Microsoft Store, and even those who have played the free-to-play multiplayer of Halo Infinite are included in this initiative.
If the free trial of the PC Game Pass has caught your interest, you can check your eligibility via the Xbox website. Once the trial period is over, you will be charged at the current rate, so do your due diligence if you do not wish to continue the subscription.
