Master Chief TV Show Actor Teases News For Xbox's 20th Anniversary On Monday

2 years 5 months ago

Pablo Schreiber, who plays Master Chief in the upcoming Halo TV show, has teased that "something very exciting" is going to happen on Monday, November 15.

Halo's transmedia boss, Kiki Wolfkill, replied to the tweet, saying, "crazy talk." The suggestion here is that Microsoft will finally show or further discuss the long-awaited Halo TV show on Monday as part of Xbox 20th anniversary festivities. Nothing is confirmed yet, however.

Schreiber is joined by Californication's Natascha McElhone as Dr. Halsey. Jen Taylor, who voices Cortana in the video games, will voice the character on the TV show as well.

Wolfkill has said the Halo franchise as an FPS is limited in terms of its storytelling opportunity since the main storyline focuses on one character: Master Chief. But with the TV show, there is an opportunity to widen the franchise and look at more characters and plot points. The steps that Microsoft is taking with the Halo TV show may not please everyone, Wolfkill admitted.

GTA Trilogy Returns To PC, As Rockstar Promises More Improvements

2 years 5 months ago

Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is once again available to purchase and play on PC. The studio said on Sunday that it has reinstated the game through the Rockstar Launcher on PC. It was removed shortly after launch on November 11 amid reports that the game's "holy grail" files had been discovered.

In its announcement, Rockstar also pledged that it would continue to improve the experience on PC amid reports that the game is struggling in some capacity.

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and are working to improve and update overall performance as we move forward," Rockstar said in a tweet.

The Definitive Edition comes with updated versions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas featuring better visuals, refrigerators borrowed from GTA V, and GTA V-style controls.

Back 4 Blood’s Current Level of Difficulty Is Too Punishing, Devs Plan on Scaling It Back in Future Patches

2 years 5 months ago

If you’re just playing Back 4 Blood on Recruit difficulty, which is basically the game’s equivalent of easy mode, you should have no problem blasting through the campaign with random players online. But bump it up to the next level, and you might find yourself taking damage left and right, dealing with an impossible number of Ridden at every turn.

Turtle Rock Studios agrees that the difficulty level in Back 4 Blood is way too overtuned right now, and they plan on addressing that issue in coming patches.

For starters, the number of special Ridden will be lowered, and the amount of Trauma damage received will be lowered as well. These are the two main factors that have led to the game feeling way too punishing, tipping the game over to “not fun anymore” territory.

The devs went on to address the issue of the game’s meta being revolved around stacking speed and stamina cards, which have led to players speedrunning levels because that’s simply the most efficient way to play the game. While it’s not clear how Turtle Rock plans on addressing this issue in particular, it’s at least nice to know that it’s on their radar.

Back 4 Blood is now available on PC and consoles.

Langrisser 30th Anniversary Celebration Kicks Off With Lana Figure

2 years 5 months ago

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Langrisser series of tactical JRPGs, and Extreme is celebrating with a new figure.

Portraying Lana from Langrisser II, the figure is available for pre-order at Ami Ami for 25,960 yen, which translates approximately into $228.

It’ll be released in October 2022 (a bit late for the anniversary, I guess, since it actually was back in April 2021) and it comes with a base, a staff, and a face plate with an alternative expression.

The scale is 1/7 for approximately 240mm in height and the prototype was sculpted by Icrea and painted by Matsuda Model.

You can check out below what she looks like.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition Reportedly Contains 'Hot Coffee' Code, Unlicensed Songs

2 years 5 months ago

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition reportedly contains not only files for unlicensed music and full game scripts with developer notes, but it also appears to contain files related to the infamous sex mini-game "hot coffee."

As reported by VGC, these files very well may be the reason Rockstar removed the PC version of the game from its Rockstar Games Launcher. Around the trilogy's release, the Rockstar Games Launcher was offline and wouldn't allow anyone to play games they own through Rockstar's service. Luckily, the launcher has been restored, but the Trilogy remains off the store.

Regarding the files in question, dataminers found what they have described as a "holy grail" of files, including most of the music that was removed from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas due to expired licenses. The music files are still apparently in the game, they are just not in the rotation of music being played.

Also discovered was an uncompiled version of the main.scm file, which "contains all the game scripts for GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, including cut and missing content, as well as notes from Rockstar North staff from that era."

Strategy JRPG Relayer for PS5 & PS4 Reveals GS-SC01/Me Petasos & GS-SC01/Ha Comet Mecha

2 years 5 months ago

Kadokawa Games has been revealing more artwork and details about the upcoming mecha strategy JRPG Relayer.

We get to see even more of the playable Stella Gear mecha that will appear in the game, and today it’s all about Scout types.

Scouts are rear-guard support mecha that specialize in healing, buffing, and rebuffing. They can equip one-handed words with a range of 1, machine guns with a range of 2, and unique weaponized “bits” (think Funnels from Gundam) with a range of 4.

Specifically, today we see Mercury’s Stella Gear, Petasos, named after Hermes’ helmet. It excels at ranged combat and electronic warfare. Incidentally, Mercurius (anglicized as Mercury) is the Roman name of Hermes.

  • Name: Petasos
  • Model Number: GS-SC01/Me
  • Stats
    • Armor B
    • Mobility A
    • Firepower A
    • Melee C
    • Electronic Warfare S

Next is Comet, Halley’s Stella Gear. The name comes from the fact that Halley is a comet (duh!). Like Petasos, it has excellent ranged and electronic warfare capabilities.

Back 4 Blood developer Turtle Rock Studios says it's working to get the difficulty of its Left 4 Dead spiritual successor "just right".

Snag this Razer Viper Ultimate mouse for less than half its usual price

2 years 5 months ago

The Razer Viper Ultimate with charging dock is currently going for £62.99 at Amazon UK, which is a massive 58 percent off from its usual £149.99 price tag. This makes it cheaper than even some of Razer's more affordable wired mice, and is a fantastic deal for one of Digital Foundry's favourite mice for FPS games.

The Razer Viper Ultimate is one of the company's premium wireless mice. It uses Razer's Hyperspeed wireless technology, which basically makes the latency a non-issue and on par with some of the best wired mice out there. The Viper Ultimate also uses Razer's Focus+ optical sensor with an incredible 20,000 DPI and 650 IPS tracking speed. While you don't have to play at the full 20,000 DPI, it does mean the sensor will be extremely responsive at all settings, which is important for twitch shooters like Quake or more tactical fare like Counter-Strike.
