Infinity Ward: 'More Banwaves' Are Coming for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

3 years 9 months ago
Infinity Ward is coming down hard on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone cheaters, and warns that more banwaves are coming for those who are found guilty. Infinity Ward posted the warning on Twitter, and explained more about how it determines who is considered a cheater; [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/11/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-warzone-official-season-four-trailer"]
  1. Cheating will not be tolerated. More banwaves are coming. If you receive a ban it is for unauthorized manipulation of game data. Don't fall for unscrupulous services offering cheats and modifications, there are fraudulent. For a list of security and enforcement policy details, please visit https://support/activision.com/mwpolicy
  2. Please do not use unauthorized 3rd party software to mod of hack. This includes tools such as hex editors, that equip items you have not acquired properly. We define this as cheating and there is no place for that in our game. This is a bannable offense and you risk losing your account.
  3. Unauthorized 3rd party software includes, but it not limited to aimbots, wallhacks, trainers, stats hacks, texture hacks, leaderboard hacks, injectors, hex editors or any software used to deliberately modify game data or memory. Don't do it. This may result in being banned.
  4. Avoid tutorials and services that offer ways to modify your camo. Anything that suggests altering the memory on your console or PC in order to acquire new gear, items or loadouts beyond what is offered in-game is a hack, and is considered cheating.

Kamen Rider: Memory of Heroez for PS4 & Nintendo Switch Coming in English Via Asian Release

3 years 9 months ago

Following the announcement of Kamen Rider: Memory of Heroez, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that the game will be released in South-East Asia.

Not only it will launch day and date with the Japanese release, but it will come with English subtitles.

This means that western fans will easily be able to import the game via the local PlayStation Store and enjoy a Kamen Rider game in a language they can easily understand.

At the moment there is no information about an official western release, but that’s likely to be hindered by the usual licensing issues bound to this kind of IP.

The South-East Asian market is going to get both the standard version and the “Premium Sound” edition including 60 songs from the series.

You can watch the announcement trailer below, broadcasted at the end of the publisher BNEWFunLive program.

Kamen Rider is one of the most long-lasting TV shows in the history of Japanese TV and has continued to air in the country with annual series all the way since 1971.

Video Game HUDs Used To Be Cool

3 years 9 months ago

Video games look really good these days. I boot up almost any PS4 game released in the last few years and I’m impressed. But while games might look nicer than ever before, we lost cool looking “heads-up displays”, HUDs, in the process. Was it worth it?

Review: Dex

3 years 9 months ago

I love cyberpunk. I love its towering neon skylines, its oppressive megacorporations, its seedy underbelly, and the discomforting ways that it twists the world to be familiar but darkened and warped. I love the augmented mercenaries, the techno-babbling hackers, and the mysteriously untouchable executives.

Of course, if I was to exist in an actual cyberpunk future, I’d probably be the wageslave, toiling away behind the walls of some corporate enclave while trying my hardest to stay blissfully ignorant to what goes on outside.

But in the realm of fiction, I’ll happily return to those grungy streets that exist between the shimmering fortresses of the megacorporations. Dex is one such game that gives me yet another opportunity. Technically, Dex has been out for yonks, but it was only recently ported to Nintendo Switch, and if it’s new to me…

Also, Cocks: The T-Shirt, and unfortunately there's also a haiku

3 years 9 months ago

Once uttered by Boll,
Destructoid's famous motto.
“Also, cocks;” our phrase.

Our latest t-shirt,
Created by Ashley Hay,
Available now.

It's quite evident,
We're not ones for subtlety.
The message is clear.

Yet still it’s quite cute,
Just so highly endearing.
A classic, reborn.

In green, black, and white,
On mugs, towels, hoodies, and more,
From our new merch store.

Thanks for the feedback,
To those on our new forums,
It helped us a tonne.

On Dtoid's merch store,
There's many sexy designs.
Thanks for the support!

Shilling in haiku,
God help me, why’d I try this?
There's a clear reason.

Ghost of Tsushima,
Occupies all my free time.
I have a problem.

This post’s at an end.
So, in those immortal words;
“Also, cocks.” Goodbye.

What's actually going on with Halo Infinite's graphics?

3 years 9 months ago

It's fair to say that the response to Microsoft's gameplay reveal for Halo Infinite in its July 2020 Xbox Games Showcase has proven divisive - to the point where even mainstream media are reporting about the mixed reactions, but looking at the core rendering technologies on display in the gameplay slice, what can they tell us about the presentation? If the game stands accused of looking 'flat', why is that and what can be done about it?

First of all, initial impressions matter and beyond the rendering on display, Halo Infinite's presentation suffered significantly from the low quality livestream - the way that most of the audience will have initially experienced the content. "It's very hard to show the full power and graphical fidelity of what Xbox Series X will be able to deliver for you over a stream. Go back and look at it in 4K60," suggested Xbox games marketing GM, Aaron Greenberg to Inside Gaming (and picked up by IGN). Unfortunately, the only 4K60 asset available is still a compromised YouTube video but the point undoubtedly stands: reviewing the ultra HD version highlights a lot of detail that was blurred and smeared into non-existence via the livestream - and we do recommend checking out the better quality version.

More Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare And Warzone Bans Are Coming, Infinity Ward Says

3 years 9 months ago

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone both still have a problem with cheaters, and developer Infinity Ward isn't tolerating it. In a new statement posted on its Twitter, the studio explained the steps it is taking to eliminate unfair play for the games, as well as what you need to avoid doing if you don't want to get banned.

The full statement, which you can see above, explains that any bans are related to "unauthorized manipulation of game data" and any third-party software being used to mod or hack can result in a ban. Aimbots, texture hacks, and trainers are all banned, and you should not attempt to modify any of the camouflage patterns you've obtained, nor should you try to alter the memory on your system to get new gear.

Because it has to maintain two games now instead of its usual one, Infinity Ward certainly has its work cut out for it. The standard Modern Warfare multiplayer matches are nothing like Warzone's enormous battle royale fights, but your actions are probably going to catch up to you if you attempt to cheat in either of them.

Wycombe Wanderers legend Adebayo Akinfenwa gets FIFA 20 Ultimate Team hero card - with 99 physicality

3 years 9 months ago

Wycombe Wanderers legend Adebayo Akinfenwa is now a FIFA 20 Ultimate Team hero card - and it's got an incredible 99 physicality.

Akinfenwa is an English football cult hero, and is famous within the FIFA community for being Ultimate Team's strongest player. In FIFA 20, Akinfenwa's base card has 97 strength, putting him ahead of Aston Villa striker Wesley, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku, who each have 95 strength.

The veteran striker hit the headlines earlier this month after helping his club secure promotion to the Championship by beating Oxford United at Wembley. In his post-match interview, Akinfenwa called on Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to celebrate with him on WhatsApp. Klopp was game, and offered his congratulations in a video message that went viral.

Sable's lonely jetbikes have been delayed into 2021

There are few games I’m excited for more than Shedwork’s gorgeous sand-speeder Sable, which is why it stings to report that it’s once again been pushed back a year. First due in 2019, then 2020, the lonely Mobius-inspired desert romp will now (hopefully) release in 2021. As consolation, here are 30 more seconds of the upcoming comic-book adventure to gawk at longingly, courtesy of a stylish new trailer.

Halo Infinite Brings Back Fan-Favorite Actors Alongside Newcomers

3 years 9 months ago

Halo Infinite is being marketed as a "spiritual reboot" for the series, continuing the story from Halo 5 but centering the action on a mysterious ring world like in the original game. Such a big change could have resulted in other major departures, such as recasting voice roles, but that won't be the case for the series' two biggest characters.

The Master Chief will once again be played by Steve Downes, an actor whose low, measured tone has defined the hero since his first appearance nearly 20 years ago. He's joined by Jen Taylor, who voices both Cortana and Dr. Catherine Halsey, the researcher who lent her voice to Cortana when she was "born." Given the dark path Cortana traveled down in Halo 5, we expect to hear a lot of Taylor in Halo Infinite.

There are a few newcomers that 343 Industries has revealed thus far, as well. "The Pilot," who does have a name that has not been officially revealed yet, will be played by Nicolas Roye. He has appeared in several other video games such as Resident Evil: Resistance earlier this year and Apex Legends. War Chief Escahrum, who is the Brute featured at the end of the campaign teaser, is played by Darin de Paul. He plays Reinhardt in Overwatch and also voiced the legendary J. Jonah Jameson in Marvel's Spider-Man.

Magic: The Gathering's next set, Zendikar Rising, will hit Arena on September 17

3 years 9 months ago

Despite a few physical product delays this year, Magic: The Gathering is still trucking along, which means Magic: The Gathering Arena is trucking along too.

Wizards of the Coast hasn't missed a digital rollout timeline for a major set yet despite the current global situation, as they can just poof the cards into existence on Arena: which typically gets them before the paper community. That isn't changing, as Wizards has announced today during San Diego Comic-Con at Home that Zendikar Rising will arrive on September 17 in Arena (September 25 in paper form).

Interestingly, Wizards is going to market Zendikar a bit differently compared to recent sets, as set booster packs will include 14 cards (12 actual cards, an art card and a last card that could either be a token, an ad, or a card from "the list" - a set of 300 cards curated from Magic history). Wizards is calling set boosters a "brand-new type of booster pack." The first few cards from The List have been revealed today: Cloudgoat Ranger, Pact of Negation and Muscle Sliver.

I know some folks are itching for the next standard rotation to happen, but we'll still have a few annoying cards in the mix (new Teferi! Cat ovens that aren't too hard to counter but are annoying to play against in Arena due to the timing triggers!).

Review: If Found...

3 years 9 months ago

If Found... tells the story of two women dealing with the end of the world. The first is Cassiopeia, a scientist who discovers an Event Horizon threatening to destroy Earth. She's separated from humanity. Her only contact is a person named Control, and with time running out and nobody on Earth believing what's coming, the two of them are the last hope for humanity.

Cassiopeia's story runs parallel to that of Kasio, a woman who returns home from college to a family that can't deal with how much she's changed. While that might not sound as critical as Cassiopeia's circumstances, if you've ever had to face parents who don't understand why you are the way you are, it can honestly feel as crushing as the actual end of the world.

UPL shmup Koutetsu Yousai Strahl is this week's Arcade Archives release

3 years 9 months ago

Well, we've been talking about a lot of old-school shmups on this here site lately. Today is no exception, as Hamster has added UPL's little-known coin-op Koutetsu Yousai Strahl to its bursting-at-the-seams Arcade Archive range.

Released to the Japanese arcade scene in 1992, Koutetsu Yousai Strahl (or "Steel Fortress Strahl"), has a surprisingly complex and topical plot. The backstory involves a world ripped apart by political upheaval, unemployment, and poverty. Amidst the chaos, a megalomaniac scientist takes fight in his flying fortress, before attacking the planet with his army of drones, droids, and giant robots.

You can check out the action below, courtesy of this video from YouTuber Game TV Street.

Review: Panzer Paladin

3 years 9 months ago

I feel like I can always count on Tribute Games to tap into retro gaming in a novel way. The team's latest, Panzer Paladin – a level-based action-platformer with shades of Castlevania, Mega Man, Blaster Master, and even Zelda II – has the right stuff. It's a sword-swinging mech adventure around the globe.

As an ace power-armor pilot, you'll jet off to around a dozen countries to drive back demonic space invaders inspired by real-world mythology. Medusa, Baba Yaga, Popobawa – the gang's all here.

In the mech, you can wield powerful (and super short-lived) melee weapons that slice through creeps and conjure spells. Outside the suit, you'll slip through tight passages as a tiny whip-cracking android.

One look at a screenshot – any screenshot – and you'll know if Panzer Paladin is your jam.

Review: Superhot: Mind Control Delete

3 years 9 months ago

As I continue to get older and somewhat jaded with video gaming, I'm finding myself getting bored with run-of-the-mill games that don't use the medium to its full advantage. Conversely, I find myself lavishing praise on the ones that do. Return of the Obra Dinn and Titanfall 2's "Effect and Cause" level comes to mind when thinking about games that use the medium to its full advantage.

Without a doubt, I can now rank Superhot: Mind Control Delete among that pantheon along with possibly one of the most fun games I've ever played.

What are we all playing this weekend?

3 years 9 months ago

Vintage cycling fun in an illustration from 'Romances of the Wheel, a collection of romantic cycling tales'.

And that’s it, notE3 is over. Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase on Thursday wrapped up the seven-odd weeks of disparate marketing events, and I have to say: I miss E3. Should this be the end of E3, let’s just spread stuff across the whole year, not half-arse it with events spread across the best part of two months. See our E3 tag for eeeverythiiing we posted. I am tired. Which is why I’m taking the next fortnight off work. I’ll see you again in August, which I believe is now called ‘pre-Gamescom.’

What are you playing this weekend? Here’s what we’re clicking on!

What if we could shuffle plot twists each time we played?

3 years 9 months ago

I love a good plot twist. I will always remember the moment in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic when I found out who my character really was, and always remember the moment in BioShock when I found out who the real baddie was. These things make a game, they sear it into our memories.

But once you know the secret what then? The game is done more or less. You might get a bit of mileage from playing again and spotting the clues, but there are no real surprises left to be had, not unless you're Nier Automata but let's not go there now. But what if a story could change? What if it was fundamentally different a second time around?

I got to thinking about this recently after talking to a man called Ray Winninger, the head of Dungeons & Dragons, tabletop side. He's only recently been appointed that position after spending many years away from Wizards of the Coast, but he's been involved with and playing D&D most of his life. He professionally wrote campaigns as a teenager and even played with the game's creators, Dave Arneson and Gary Gygax. Dungeons & Dragons is in his bones.
