Fall Guys Season 2 Adds Medieval Minigames And Costumes

3 years 8 months ago

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout's Season 2 of content is on the way. Developer Mediatonic revealed new medieval-themed minigames and costumes during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2020. A giant castle for tail tag and a new block-pushing game where you have to climb over castle walls were revealed, as well as new dragon, knight, Viking, wizard, and witch costumes.

Season 2 won't start for over a month, but when it does, it will have more games and costumes inspired by "epic quests." Despite being hyped beforehand, the Fall Guys segment during Opening Night Live was quick, only showing off new content during a short clip. Many of the same games are returning, albeit with new maps and obstacles. Those include swinging axes and games where you have to physically move ramps and platforms around in order to, say, jump through a floating ring that's otherwise out of reach.

Fall Guys lead designer Joe Walsh started out his Gamescom appearance by thanking fans for the game's runaway success. He had previously promised that a lot of new content was in the works for the game, so expect more beyond the second season. We also know that, in China, a mobile version of Fall Guys is in the works--meanwhile, we're hopeful that the game will come to other platforms around the world.

Little Nightmares II Shows off Shared Scares in Latest Trailer; Release Date Revealed

3 years 8 months ago

Having a friend along for the ride doesn’t always lessen the terror of a situation, or at least that’s the case in the latest trailer for Little Nightmares II.

Streamed during the Gamescom Opening Night Live digital event held on Aug. 27, the trailer provides a better glimpse at the long-awaited sequel in action. It begins with the two playable characters encountering one another, one of which is already adorned in the paper bag over their head. They then set out together into a moody and atmosheric world, which is almost as beautiful as it is eerie.

Things quickly take a turn for the unnerving though, as the two make their way further into the world in a variety of clips. Large, looming figures seem to be hunting them all the time, and most every corner turned reveals new traps and dangers they need to protect each other from.

All the while, a soft whistling melody which plays throughout the trailer gets more and more distorted, hinting at the deteriorating state of the world the player characters are forced to delve deeper into.

The mood continues to worsen as each new danger becomes more and more unnerving, and the two become separated at some point. It all culminates in the child with the sack on their head coming upon a large figure that snatches them up in the blink of an eye. Shortly after, it’s revealed that the game is slated for release on modern platforms on Feb. 11, 2021, while next-gen consoles will receive a port later in the year.

It’s unnerving, yet captivating, and well worth giving a look down below.

After months of silence, TT Games has unveiled more about its ambitious new LEGO adventure to a galaxy far, far away. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Shown off at Gamescom 2020's Opening Night Live, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga's new trailer showcased some of the famous recreated scenes, gameplay, and humor to come. However, WB Games also confirmed the next LEGO Star Wars game has been delayed to spring 2021, while also confirming plans for PS5 and Xbox Series X versions. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/27/lego-star-wars-the-skywalker-saga-gameplay-trailer"] Earlier this year, TT Games released new key art for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, teasing its franchise-spanning story, and we later learned that several real-world LEGO sets will include codes to unlock content in-game. A LEGO Star Wars release date was seemingly announced on the weekly Star Wars Show, but the episode was later re-edited to remove the release date announcement. Unveiled at E3 last year, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga isn't a remake of past LEGO Star Wars games but rather a new entry that looks to shake up the LEGO game formula in some major ways.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Coming This Spring (And To Next-Gen)

3 years 8 months ago

Click to watch embedded media

It's been a while since we've had a new Lego adventure from TT Games, but that's going to be changing this spring with the release of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. A new trailer shows off the game in action, which features new gameplay and action based on all the mainline entries in the Star Wars franchise.

The trailer is packed with moments from the original trilogy, new prequels, and the most recent adventures with Rey and company. It's a fresh take on many of those older stories, since it includes voice acting from the films – something that wasn't incorporated in a lot of the older pantomime-based games.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch in spring 2021.

World of Warcraft Gets New Trailer, Release Date & Animated Short for Shadowlands Expansion

3 years 8 months ago

World of Warcraft is set to receive a fresh new expansion in the form of Shadowlands, and BLizzard Entertainment has released a slew of reveals and promotional material to tide fans over until it launches.

During the Gamescom Opening Night Live digital event held on Aug. 27, Blizzard revealed two new videos tied to the expansion. The first is an animated short setting up the story of the expansion, giving some backstory as to what the Shadowlands entail and what has led to the story taking place in the expansion.

Following a betrayal by a student, a man named Bastion is given a chance at revenge by heavenly beings known as Paladins. He accepts, tracking down his traitorous student and casting him into the Shadowlands; all without realizing that he’s carrying out the deeds of a Paladin that may have her own ends she’s pursuing.

More videos in the same vein are set to be released in the coming weeks, and will play into a larger Afterlives series.

The second video is a trailer of the Shadowlands’ expansion in action. Characters clash with new enemies in dark and dilapidated environments, while a darker force lurks just out of view. The footage culminates in the reveal that the expansion is set to release on Oct. 27, giving fans only a few more months that they’ll need to wait to experience the fresh new content.

Both videos give plenty of insight into what the expansion has in store, and set the tone of the story that will unfold in the coming months. Fans will want to check each out down below as soon as possible.

BioWare give us more tantalising glimpses at Dragon Age 4, still no actual news

3 years 8 months ago

We just got the biggest look yet at Dragon Age 4 during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live and… they still didn’t really show us much. Not that I’m complaining! A morsel of info on BioWare’s excellent RPG series is enough to sate me months, and the new screens and tiny segments of in-game footage shown tonight will surely keep fans speculating until we finally get a release date. So, what did BioWare actually show? Well, the most interesting thing I reckon was a new look at Solas, who is, of course, making a comeback after his rude exit in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Teardown Receives New Gameplay Trailer at Gamescom

3 years 8 months ago

During the Gamescom: Opening Night Live presentation, a brand new gameplay trailer was shown for the voxel simulation game Teardown by developers Tuxedo Labs.

In Teardown, your job is to plan “the perfect heist” by solving problems with creativity and brute force. The environment is a Minecraft-like voxel block world where you can literally tear down and destroy everything around you both on foot and in vehicles like trucks and bulldozers.

It’s not all about tearing things down, though; you can use resources to stack objects and build other structures to take advantage of your surroundings.

You can take your time to carve out an escape path, plan the heist, then escape as quickly as possible before security arrives and catches you.

Teardown is planned to release sometime in 2020 for PC. An early access version of the game on Steam is also planned.

If you’re interested in the game, you can find some more information (such as frequently asked questions) on the Teardown official website right here.

You can watch the gameplay trailer that was shown during Gamescom: Opening Night Live below. Be sure to check back at Twinfinite for more game announcements from Gamescom.

Little Nightmares 2 crawls onto screens next February

3 years 8 months ago

It's back - and creepier than ever. Initially announced back at Gamescom last year, Little Nightmares 2 now has a release date of 11th February 2021, and a new gameplay trailer that will definitely keep you up at night.

A sequel to the hit indie platformer from 2017, Little Nightmares 2 once again follows the story of Six, who will be computer-controller, and a new player-character called Mono. That's the one wearing the paper bag, by the way. The new trailer shows a variety of horrifying new monsters and puzzles for the player to overcome, including a rather horrible pianist. If you'd like a more in-depth look at around 15 minutes worth of brand new gameplay, our Ian Higton went hands on with the first level of the game and you can listen to his first impressions in the video below.

Last year I had a chat with the Tarsier devs behind Little Nightmares 2, who were reluctant to give too much away - but could confirm that you can wield a whisk to fight back against the monsters. Useful.

Star Wars Is Coming To The Sims 4

3 years 8 months ago

Click to watch embedded media

The Sims 4 will soon be traveling to a galaxy far, far away in the story-driven expansion Star Wars: Journey to Batuu. Set to release on September 8 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC for $19.99, this licensed content draws heavily from Disney's new Galaxy's Edge theme park. You'll see many of faces from the theme park in the game, and can even build your own lightsaber with its own blade color.

Your Sims characters can dress up in costumes, interact with droids (you'll get your own), and enjoy all things Star Wars in this unexpected new addition to the long running game. As your Sims get to know the Star Wars locals, they can complete missions and challenges for the Resistance, First Order, and Scoundrels. The influence gained in each of these groups changes the world and rewards. Depending on who you side with will determine which starfighter access you get and what costumes you unlock. You'll eventually gain enough influence in a group to meet the leaders, Kylo Ren, Rey, Vi Moradi, and Hondo Ohnaka.

The Sims 4 has had a long and successful run, and it's nice to see it branching out in new ways to bring in even more players. I will likely be one of them because I can't say 'no' to anything Star Wars.

Star Wars: Squadrons Campaign Includes Film Characters

3 years 8 months ago
Star Wars: Squadrons' campaign has been shown off, and confirms that it includes appearances from Wedge Antilles and, possibly, Princess Leia. In a developer walkthrough shown at Opening Night Live, we got a fresh look at the spacefighting game, which will have you flying for both the New Republic and the Empire, and can be played entirely in VR. The walkthrough begins with a monologue from Princess Leia about the game's story, set after the events of Return of the Jedi, and we also see Rigue Squadron legend Wedge Antilles as a character on the New Republic side. It's not clear if Leia will appear outside of the trailers. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/27/star-wars-squadrons-single-player-preview"] In a brief look at Empire gameplay, we see a TIE Fighter pilot attacking an enemy outpost, escorting a transport ship and using hyperspace to escape the area. We also learned that you'll be debriefing with fellow squadron members between missions, and that customisation will be available in campaign mode across all ship types. Star Wars: Squadrons comes to PC, PS4 and Xbox One with crossplay on October 2 - in a preview, we said, "if you’re into first-person space combat, I doubt a tighter package will come along this year."
