Dead by Daylight promises 4K and 60FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X this holiday season
If all goes according to plan, Dead by Daylight could have one of the smoother next-gen transitions.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Dead by Daylight will run at 4K and 60FPS, and current players will be able to upgrade "for free on their new platform of choice" while retaining their progression and unlocks. Behaviour Interactive is aiming for a "holiday 2020" launch window on both consoles.
Even if you're sticking to the existing versions on PC, PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch, you'll benefit from an upcoming "graphical overhaul" that will be delivered in free updates stretching into fall 2021.
Starting with Springwood and Yamaoka Estate, the team intends to rework "over four years of live content" to "improve the immersion." That means new lighting, textures, models, and animations. The first update will drop on September 8 with those maps and revamped lockers, generators, and palettes.
While ambitious update schedules tend to slip off course, Behaviour hopes to release visual upgrades "every six weeks," and all told, "tens of thousands of assets will be enhanced."
Content-wise, they'll still be releasing new Chapters and Archives too.

Have you met the party baron of Crusader Kings 3?
Wait, you don’t know the Party Baron of Crusader Kings 3? Aw, mate, he’s only an absolute ledge. Best bants in all the kingdom, I tell ya, throws the best parties from here to the Holy Roman Empire. While it looks like he’s scarpered from the game’s final release, tales of the legendary host (and some fantastic placeholder art) appear to have helped shape the grand strategy’s tangle of plots, intrigue, and colourful characters.

New Gameplay Trailer Out For The Sims 4’s Journey to Batuu
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, your Sims had a dream about starting their own Star Wars adventure. With the new upcoming game pack, Journey to Batuu, they finally can! On September 8, the new Star Wars expansion for The Sims 4 will be released. That’s just a week away, and today a brand-new gameplay trailer was released. It showcases some of the features Simmers will see with the new pack, such as the ability to have your very own droid.

The trailer seems to bring up a lot of RPG elements such as missions and companions. Perhaps The Sims 4 will feel like a combination of a life simulator and a role-playing game? It also seems as though your Sims will be able to rank up or progress while completing the Journey to Batuu storyline, giving Simmers a nice break from simply building, creating, and storyelling themselves.

Fall Comes To Animal Crossing: New Horizons
We praised Animal Crossing: New Horizons for its quirky gameplay, large cast of colorful villagers, and seasonal events. Players in the Northern Hemisphere that boot up the game today will notice that fall has finally arrived!
In addition to new critters and fish to catch and donate to the museum, acorns and pine cones can be collected from trees and used to craft items from fall-themed DIY recipes. 80 Days dev's King-Arthur-inspired narrative strategy adventure Pendragon out this month

Pendragon, the Arthurian-legend-inspired narrative strategy game from 80 Days and Heaven's Vault developer Inkle Studios, is coming to PC on 22nd September.
Inkle's latest endeavour transports player back to the year AD 673, with Camelot on the brink of destruction. Sir Modred's deceit has left the fellowship of the Round Table in disarray, leaving players with the task of traversing the treacherous Britain of the Dark Ages in order to assemble a ragtag band of knights, heroes, and peasants to aid King Arthur in battle.
Pendragon is something of a departure for the ever-reliable Inkle, whose previous output has largely remained laser-focussed on whipping up a wondrously compelling yarn. While the studio's latest does promise a story-rich adventure, full of "love, suspicion, revenge, sacrifice and murder", its narrative elements are this time intertwined with a "deeply strategic" turn-based combat system, pitting players against the likes of bandits, brutish knights, and deadly creatures as their adventure unfolds.
Acclaimed Dev Vlambeer Is Surprise Shutting Down On Its 10-Year Anniversary
After 10 years, Dutch independent studio Vlambeer has closed its doors. Despite the surprise shuttering, the studio's last game, Ultrabugs, is still on the way.
"Today marks Vlambeer's 10th anniversary, which is way longer than we could've ever imagined," the studio tweeted. "We had a beautiful run, made incredible games, and worked with amazing people, but it's time for new things. So we're announcing the end of Vlambeer."
Vlambeer didn't specify what "new things" are coming for co-founders Jan Willem Nijma and Rami Ismail. Vlambeer promised that Ultrabugs is "still coming out" and said it's investigating other options for "further support for some of our earlier games," but nothing has been solidified yet.

I've already made an Estonian giant farm in Crusader Kings 3
High Chieftain Andyamo doesn’t ask for much in life. In fact, he wants only two things. To live forever, and to bang every giant in Christendom.
Crusader Kings 3, which comes out today, is a game where you very much get out what you put in. You get something, anyway. The sheer density and interconnection of the medieval RPG’s many simulations mean that, pretty much whatever you do, some consequence will come back to surprise you many years down the line. A butterfly flaps its wings; moments later, it is the pope.
This magnificent modder turned a Wii into a Game Boy
A lot of people here likely have fond memories of their Wii. But older generations can recall some of Nintendo's bygone systems, like the fantastic and time-tested Game Boy Color. This mod from creator GingerOfMods marries both worlds into one impressive system.
They call it the WiiBoy Color. The front of the system is a 480p screen, with inputs Frankensteined from DS Lite buttons and Switch joysticks. GingerOfMods hacks the system to allow GameCube controls to mirror Wiimote controls: which can also simulate waggling. The back has a fan intake and Z buttons, with a headphone jack on the side and a USB-C port on top for charging and data transfer.
GingerOfMods can simply add games via USB when they want. It'll run for "two or three hours," but you can also hook up a portable charging bank to it to keep going. Plus, they can plug the portable directly into a Wii to play on a bigger screen: Switch style!
This is one of the most impressive hardware mods I've seen in recent years. I like the commitment to the form factor of the Game Boy Color the most: it looks incredibly sleek. GingerOfMods says that you can reach out to them via their Instagram or Twitter account if you want to buy it; but it'll cost you a "premium."

Avengers' First DLC Character Is A Hawkeye, But Not Clint Barton
Marvel's Avengers will introduce lots of characters from the deep bench of Marvel canon. Developer Crystal Dynamics previously announced that Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, is coming, leading us to believe he'll be the first DLC character. But it turns out another Hawkeye will beat him to the punch.
As announced on the most recent Avengers: War Table stream, Kate Bishop will be the first post-launch character to join the Avengers roster. Marvel fans will recognize Bishop as another character who has taken the Hawkeye hero identity aside from Clint Barton, so of course she has his level of marksmanship expertise.
Bishop will be added as a Substation Zero event, one of the pieces of expanded content available through the Avengers Initiative menu. Her story event, called Taking Aim, will hit in late October, and the announcement says it's the first half of a story arc that will conclude in November with the appearance of Clint.

New PS Now Games For September Include Resident Evil, Final Fantasy
Sony has announced the newest games coming to PS Now for September, and they're led by two heavy hitters. We have four new games for the service--an increase over August's three--and each of them is a relatively big name.
First, there's Resident Evil 7, the first-person horror game that puts you in a terrifying house deep in the bayou. Widely considered one of the best games in the Resident Evil series, fans have been clamoring for a follow-up to 7 for years now, which is coming soon in the form of Resident Evil Village. It also includes PS VR support if you play it on PS4. It won't be on the service for very long, so check it out if you're looking for some horror thrills. Next, you have Final Fantasy XV, the "road trip with the boys" RPG that won many plaudits and fans. Plus, nothing quite beats racing around listening to Uematsu songs.

Nvidia's RTX 3090, 3080 and 3070 graphics cards are official
![](https://d2skuhm0vrry40.cloudfront.net/2020/articles/2020-09-01-17-30/nvidia-announces-rtx-3090-3080-3070-ampere-graphics-cards-1598977811561.jpg/EG11/resize/300x-1/format/jpg/2113084.jpg)
Nvidia officially unveiled its latest graphics cards tonight, the RTX 30-series based around its new Ampere architecture. The new cards are the RTX 3090, RTX 3080 and RTX 3070, and all will be available in a Founders Edition configuration - some with a radical new dual-sided fan design. Nvidia claims that the new architecture is up to 2x as performant and 1.9x as energy-efficient as its predecessor, Turing, as the result of the new 8nm process. Here's what you need to know about Ampere, the three new graphics cards and everything else Nvidia announced today - including pricing.
Update: Our hands-on RTX 3080 benchmarks are live here!
While all three of the graphics cards sound like powerhouses, the Titan-grade RTX 3090 looks set to be particularly insane. The card is capable of running games at 8K resolution - which has four times the pixel count of 4K - and at 60 frames per second with the help of DLSS. 4K is already hard enough to run for most PCs - even the RTX 2080 Ti manages only 69fps at 4K in our average of nine recent games - so a card that can actually grapple with 8K is unheard-of.
RTX 3090, 3080, and 3070 Announced by Nvidia Claiming Massive Performance Boost
Nvidia just announced its next generation of graphics cards, the RTX line from 3070 to 3090 based on the new Ampere architecture.
The announcement was made during a Geforce Special Event presentation hosted on the company’s Twitch channel.
The new cards will be based on the Ampere RTX architecture.
Below you can see a comparison with Turing, claiming performance multiplied by 1.9 in FPS per watt.
New Cyberpunk 2077 Trailer Shows Scenes of Night City With Ray Tracing
Today, during a presentation hosted by Nvidia, CD Projekt RED presented a new trailer of Cyberpunk 2077.
The trailer is rather brief, but it showcases scenes from Night City embellished by Ray Tracing.
The trailer claims that the game is running in 4K with RTX and DLSS in 4K at maximum settings.
You can check it out below.
Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and it has recently been delayed to November 19, 2020. It has also been confirmed to be coming for Xbox Series X and PS5 down the line with upgrades available for those who purchase the game for the current generation of consoles.
Ubisoft Reveals Next Ubisoft Forward Date, Teases Lineup in New Video

As footage of these games played, info on the show was also revealed. Kicking off on Sept. 10 with a pre-show starting at 11 a.m. PDT and an official show starting at 12 p.m. PDT, the Ubisoft Forward will cover news related to titles both announced and unannounced. However, specifics on what would be shown from each title were not specified.

Check Out Cyberpunk 2077 With All Of Its Ray Tracing Features Turned On
At Nvidia's Geforce Special Event, CD Projekt Red reveal a new brief trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, showcasing some of the role-playing game's ray tracing features that will be supported by Nvidia's RTX cards, including its new RTX 3000 range.
The trailer shows a suite of ray-traced effects, including reflections, diffused lighting, ambient occlusions, and more. The trailer also confirms that Cyberpunk 2077 will support Nvidia's DLSS, letting you take advantage of ray tracing with less of a performance hit.
Nvidia announced three new graphics cards at its event, all of which will be capable of running Cyberpunk 2077 with its RTX features turned on. It includes the $500 RTX 3070, the $800 RTX 3080, and the monstrously RTX 3090, which will start at $1500.

Graphics card manufacturer Nvidia, in partnership with publisher Activision, has unveiled a brand-new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War trailer showing off the game with ray tracing turned on.
It's a short trailer, lasting all of about a minute or so (you can see it around the 59-minute mark below), but what's shown is stunning. We see several characters seemingly preparing for the mission President Reagan has tasked them with, so there are people punching bags and loading up weapons. With Nvidia's ray tracing technology turned on, Black Ops Cold War looks incredible, with deep shadows and reflections, impressive particle effects, realistic lighting that bounces off surfaces, and more. The brief ray tracing demonstration creates an immersive atmosphere.
PlayStation Now Adds Resident Evil 7, Final Fantasy XV, and More in September
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced four new titles now available on the PlayStation Now service for September.
The first title is Capcom’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, which will also be added to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service later this week. The first-person horror game will only be available on PlayStation Now for a limited time until Nov. 30, 2020.
The second game is Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XV, which is also available on the service for a limited time until March 1, 2021.
The third game is WWE 2K19, while WWE 2K Battlegrounds launches for PlayStation 4 and other platforms later this month. WWE 2K Battlegrounds forgoes the series simulation-style gameplay of WWE 2K19 and is more of an arcade brawler.
The final game added this month to the service is Observation, an adventure-puzzle game where the players assumes control of a space station’s AI system and must work with a lone crew member to discover the fate of the station and its crew.
PlayStation Now offers over 800 PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4 titles to stream either on PS4 console or PC alongside over 300 PS4 games that can be downloaded to the console for $9.99 per month.
New Watch Dogs Legion Trailer Showcases Nvidia GeForce RTX’s Performance
Ubisoft has today released a new trailer for its upcoming open-world action game, Watch Dogs Legion, as part of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX event. It’s essentially a showcase of the game’s performance using the new card, touring various parts of the game’s London setting with ray tracing in full effect.
As you’ll see below, it’s more of a presentation of Legion’s fidelity on PC rather than any sort of gameplay overview.
And if it’s Watch Dogs Legion gameplay you’re after then head over to some of our other coverage, including a recent trailer that detailed a recruitment mission in which we try to bring one of the NPCs into the fold of our resistance group.
Elsewhere, another recent trailer focused a little bit on the story, but for the most part, it showcased different types of citizens you can recruit to fight the private military (Albion) that has occupied London.
