New Elden Ring Patch Buffs a Boss Who Got Accidentally Nerfed

2 years 1 month ago

Bandai Namco has announced a small Elden Ring patch, which will be released today, April 4, across all platforms. The patch buffs some attacks for boss Starscourge Radahn, who was unintentionally made weaker in the latest version of the game.

Elden Ring's 1.03 patch arrived last month, and made a lot of adjustments to the game. However, one was unintentional, making the famously tricky Radahn far weaker than he was meant to be when using some attacks. A new version of 1.03 arrives today as a result.

The only patch note reads "Fixed a bug in the balance adjustment of the boss 'Starscourge Radahn' in update 1.03, in which the power of some attacks was unintentionally reduced." The patch comes to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Steam today.

Players on the Elden Ring subreddit broadly welcomed the change, with Naldo273 saying, "On my second playthrough he was a complete joke. You could actually just ride around watching the NPCs melt him. I don't know what people were thinking defending that nerf. God forbid one of the most epic boss fight in From history doesn't keel over on your first attempt".

If you're sturggling with the demigod after the change, our Elden Ring guide includes some tips on how to beat Starscourge Radahn.

Fortnite now lets you choose to play with building on or off

2 years 1 month ago

The era of building being banned from Fortnite's core modes is over.

Now, players can choose whether they want to play classic Solos, Duos, Trios or Squads playlists with building - or the option of No Builds Solos, Duos, Trios or Squads, as the game has offered over the past couple of weeks.

In those No Build modes, the game retains the Overshield mechanic introduced at the beginning of the season. But this is gone if you choose to play with building back re-enabled.

Soul Hackers 2 Gets Lots of Screenshots & Details Revealing New Characters & More

2 years 1 month ago

Today Atlus released a large gallery of screenshots and details about its upcoming JRPG Soul Hackers 2, showing new characters and more.

First of all, we meet Raven. He’s a former member of Yatagarasu and used to be a top-notch summoner, but now he’s retired and runs an orphanage. He’s very sociable and loves children. He speaks calmly and he’s very caring. He’s like a mentor figure to the hero Arrow, and calls him little brother. Ringo and her team visit him to ask for advice during their investigation.

The second character introduced today is Kaburagi, a member of Phantom Society. He’s a bright young man with a strong sense of justice and care for his friends. Yet, he kills Arrow to fulfill his mission. The two appear to know each other and have some sort of connection.

We also learn more about Arrow himself, including the fact that he loves taking care of plants as his hobby, he loves shoyu (soy source flavor) ramen. His birthday is February 22.

Arrow’s COMP is a gun-type so his basic attacks are bullets. He is strong with the ice elements and support skills. His physical strength is considerable and depending on how he’s specced he can learn skills to shield his allies.

Like in most Shin Megami Tensei games, it’s important to attack enemies according to their elemental weaknesses, while avoiding their resistances.

Ringo and her companions have COMPs that can be equipped with a variety of demons giving them direct access to their skills.

If you hit an enemy’s weakness you can summon your own demon, which is called “Stack.” At the end of the turn, Ringo will give the signal to begin the “Sabbath” prompting all summoned demons to strike. You can stack up to 16 demons.

Demons can also learn tandem skills and when they join a Sabbath there is a chance that they will unleash those skills with various effects like inflicting abnormal statuses or healing allies.

MiHoYo to Rollback Yae Miko Nerf in Genshin Impact, Primogems Compensation Incoming

2 years 1 month ago

Yae Miko is a fairly recent addition to the already massive character roster in Genshin Impact, but players have been disappointed with the implement of a fix for her elemental abilities. Whereas her elemental skill used to target random enemies, it now locks on to the nearest foe, which can pose all sorts of problems if that enemy in particular is resistant or shielded to her attacks.

After examining combat data, MiHoYo has announced that they’ll be rolling back the nerf this week and readjust Yae Miko’s abilities so that it reverts to its original state. The developers apologized for the inconvenience caused, and also announced that players will receive a compensation of 100 Primogems.

And, well, more primogems is always a good thing because how else are you gonna pull all your favorite characters and weapons?

The patch is set to be deployed on April 6, and players should be able to redeem their compensation primogems then as well. Genshin Impact is now available on PC, PlayStation, and mobile devices.

In Nightmare Review – Scarily Mild

2 years 1 month ago

In Nightmare on PS5

The key to a good horror game is giving players new things to be afraid of, hiding new tricks around every corner so fear can’t turn into frustration. In Nightmare sadly wasn’t developed with this idea in mind; instead, nearly every threat or new monster doesn’t add anything to the game outside of a new gimmick you must learn how to avoid. Time and time again it provides more overwhelming annoyance than it does a sense of victory when finishing an area that was proving to be difficult.

It doesn’t help that too many sections of In Nightmare boil down to one simple objective: run down a corridor and avoid a pursuing monster. The first chase sequence was fun and useful for getting used to the game’s controls and test out the sprint speed of the main character. However, after far too many instances of entering through a door and seeing the telltale cutscene that lets you know you are about to be chased, it got old quickly.

2 years 1 month ago

With just a month or so to go before Star Trek: Strange New Worlds makes its debut on Paramount+, a new trailer has just been unveiled, and it suggests that there is still much more to see for Christopher Pike and the rest of the crew of the USS Enterprise in the Star Trek universe.

Set decades before the original series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will see Pike and the gang exploring brand new worlds and establishing contact with undiscovered societies and cultures. As opposed to a darker tone that has been prevalent in recent times, this show is more inclined toward the joy and excitement of discovery.

First Episode of Paramount+ Halo TV Series Now on YouTube

2 years 1 month ago

Master Chief has recently moved from Halo video games into the television arena, with the TV series debuting on Paramount+. Despite what reservations fans might have about the move, there is still much to like about the different way it takes in storytelling. However, for those of you who have not yet watched the show, the first episode of the Halo TV series is now live on the Paramount+ YouTube channel.

It is an interesting move for sure, just like a game demo that is meant to entice viewers to jump on another streaming service. With the first episode being free, you can decide for yourself if the Halo show is worth subscribing to Paramount+.

Considering that there are plenty more shows in the works that are using video games as source material, this could be the best way to get players on board. Master Chief is not just moving into television, with a crossover with social deduction multiplayer game Among Us now live as well.

Halo Infinite: 343 Industries Says 'We Understand the Community Is Simply Out Of Patience'

2 years 1 month ago

While Halo Infinite has been positively received by many, the lack of new content in its multiplayer has led to frustration for some fans. 343 Industries has spoken up on this issue and has said that it does "understand the community is simply out of patience."

343 community director Brian Jarrard took to Reddit to speak to Halo Infinite fans and let them know that the team is "certainly not happy to be unable to meet player and community expectations." However, he also reassures that meaningful content is on the way, it just unfortunately takes time.

"There are indeed a lot of challenges and constraints," Jarrard said. "We're certainly not happy to be unable to meet player and community expectations, it's a difficult situation that's going to take the team time to work through. Right now the focus is on S2 and we'll have more to share on that in the coming weeks."

"Meanwhile a lot of production planning, costing, planning, hiring, etc.. is all happening which doesn't really lend to detailed regular updates. We understand the community is simply out of patience and frankly, I think understandably tired of words. We just need some time for the team to get the details sorted and then we can certainly share as much as we can."

Legendary Visual Novel “One” Likely Getting a Remake as Teaser Trailer & Key Art Reveal Heroine

2 years 1 month ago

Japanese developer Nexton has been teasing a 30th-anniversary project for a while, and a new teaser trailer provided a pretty clear indication about its nature.

A previous trailer on March 25 showcased a Japanese street and a girl seen from the back, but the new trailer shows her turning around, revealing herself as Mizuka Nagamori, one of the heroines of the legendary visual novel One: Kagayaku Kisetsu e.

This likely indicates that the game is getting a remake.

Alongside the trailer, we get a full key art showcasing Mizuka herself.

We also get a summer 2022 release window, while platforms have not been announced just yet.

If you’re unfamiliar with One: Kagayaku Kisetsu e (which translates as “To the Radiant Season”), it was released originally as an eroge in 1998 for Windows and then ported to PlayStation one year later with the usual all-ages version.

It’s considered one of the pioneering works of the sub-genres of visual novels that mix science fiction and fantasy elements with romance, and is cited as a source of inspiration, among others, by Type-Moon’s Kinoko Nasu.

You can see both the teaser trailer and key art below.

Elden Ring: Margit's Shackle Has a Secret Alternate Use

2 years 1 month ago

Margit's Shackle is an item you can find in Elden Ring that will make the difficult Margit the Fell Omen boss battle easier. However, the item appears to be good for much more as it can seemingly help you discover hidden illusory walls and stop fire-breathing traps.

As reported by GamesRadar, Margit's Shackle can stop Margit the Fell Omen in his tracks for a few seconds when activated, but its usefulness does not end once that great enemy has been felled.

NateThePunk2 on Reddit is one of those who discovered that it can also cause a nearby hidden wall to disappear.

A running theory is that the item sends out an invisible shockwave of sorts that stuns Margit the Fell Omen if he is within a certain range. This same shockwave appears to extend out from the player and reveal illusory walls and stop fire-breathing traps.

Margit's Shackle can be obtained while you are on Patches' questline, and obtaining it is especially helpful if Margit, the game's first major boss, is proving to be too much of a challenge.
