Riot Games has today launched Valorant’s new Episode, which brings a bunch of fresh content to the game. The update is now live in the U.S and will automatically boot, download, and install after loading the game client. Sometimes, though, it can really take a while to finish. If you’re wondering why the Valorant update is so slow, then here’s what you need to know.

Valorant’s updates aren’t typically huge, but obviously, Episode 5 brings quite a bit along with it, so you should expect the install time to take longer than normal.

Speaking of install, that’s actually the key word here because it’s worth noting that while the percentage might seem like the download rate, it’s actually the total install progress as well. So why is that relevant, exactly? Well, if you’re experiencing slow progress, this might be explained by the speed with which your computer –specifically, your HDD– is taking to process the installation of the game.

In our experience, those with SSD HDDs will download and install the game much faster than those with SATA HDDs. While there will certainly be some cases where slow server speeds, poor internet, and other connection issues will result in a slow download, it is far more often than the slow write speed of your HDDD is to blame.

So, what’s the solution? Well, short of buying and installing a faster HDD, there really isn’t one. Just sit tight and wait. More often than not, the download will read, say, 15%, and then it will suddenly jump to 85%. Basically, it doesn’t always show its progress in real-time, so just be patient!

Today Rare released a new video sharing an update about content coming to its popular game-as-a-service Sea of Thieves.

First of all, we learn that the next adventure is titled “The Forsaken Hunter” and it will be live between June 30 and July 14.

The reveal of the cinematic trailer will be on June 27, and of course, you can expect to see it here when it launches.

Announced today is HYENAS, an upcoming multiplayer FPS from Creative Assembly, the developer behind hits such as Alien: Isolation and the Total War series.

HYENAS will consist of fights between five teams of three players. Going purely off what the announcement trailer shows, HYENAS seems to be somewhat heist based. There is no gameplay, but there is a heavy suggestion that victory will come from breaking into an enemy’s base and stealing what they’ve got locked up.

Seeing as Creative Assembly is owned by Sega, it stands to reason some of the lootable items will be themed after their properties, with a Sonic the Hedgehog item seen in the trailer.

Legion features player cards, Radianite, and titles. It’s available from the store and you’ll progress through it organically as you garner XP from playing any of Valorant’s game modes. Just boot the game after installing the Episode 5 update and you’ll see Legion on the game’s main title screen.

Gameplay information show crafting, quests, and landmarks that serve as fast travel spots. You can also use a navigation feature to guide you or change the time of day to encounter monsters that only appear at specific time.

Entering battle is seamless and you can use arts assigned to certain buttons and positional attacks. Multiple arts can be linked in devastating and satisfying chain attacks.

There are three different roles for characters, including attackers, defenders, and healers, and you can change the character you control at any time.

Today Polyphony Digital and Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed the latest free update (numbered 1.17) for their racing game Gran Turismo 7.

The update will release tomorrow (June 23) and will include three new cars including a couple of legends and a new “Vision Gran Turismo” concept car.

Nexon and Arc System Works released a new trailer revealing a new character that will be included in their upcoming fighting game DNF Duel.

Japanese manufacturer Kotobukiya is continuing its mission to bring back the old but gold Muv-Luv Alternative plastic model kits.

This time around, two more model kits have been made available for pre-order. The first is a non-scale full option Type-94 Shiranui in the original Izumi Valkyrie colors lets you reproduce all the roles and armament types.

It’s priced at 8,250 yen (which roughly translates into $60) and it will be released in Japan in November 2022. It’s approximately 180 mm tall.
