When Is the Steam Summer Sale 2022? Answered

1 year 10 months ago

If you’re wondering when the Steam Summer Sale is in 2022, we’ve looked into past sale dates and calculated the best possible estimates.

Steam Sales are nothing short of fantastic. They offer players the chance to fill up their libraries with a ton of games to get them through the toasty summer months at heavily discounted prices. As such, they’ve become something that the PC community often looks forward to. The best part, they happen several times every year, and it just so happens that the Steam Summer Sale 2022 is potentially due to start very soon indeed.

When Does the Steam Summer Sale Start?

The Steam Summer Sale is due to start on Thursday, June 23, 2022 and will run for two weeks until Thursday, July 7, 2022.

While Valve has yet to officially make this announcement, we can assume these will be the dates based on previous years. For example, in 2021, the sale ran from June 24 to July 8 and in 2020 it was June 25 until July 9.

It always appears to begin on a Thursday towards the end of June, and runs for two weeks. The only slight contention this year, is that there will also be Thursday, June 30, which will be the last Thursday of the month. This appears to be when the sale has started in previous years, so there’s always a chance it could start on June 30 and end on July 14.

As soon as we have official confirmation, we’ll update this post and let you know.

That’s everything you need to know on when the Steam Summer Sale is. For more on Valve’s ever-popular PC games storefront, be sure to search for Twinfinite or check out the links below.

What Is the Original Fortnite Map?

1 year 10 months ago

Have no idea about what the original Fortnite map is? Then, we’ve got your back. Over the course of three Chapters, the Fortnite island has undergone several changes and has even been flipped over its axis. Despite all the exciting map changes, the OG Fortnite map still remains a fan favorite and the community only seems to want the old map from Chapter 1 back. Since Fortnite doesn’t allow players to pick between maps, many new players might have no clue whatsoever about the OG Fortnite island. So, in this article, we will tell you everything about the original Fortnite map.

What Is Fortnite’s Original Map?

Athena was the name of the Fortnite map that was used for the entirety of Chapter 1. The map was held together by the Zero Point, which as per the game’s lore is a powerful sphere of energy that kept the whole island intact and in one piece. Many parties had aspired to destroy the Zero Point, which, as a result, would obliterate the map itself.

Minecraft: Can You Get Slimeballs Without Slimes? What You Need to Know

1 year 10 months ago

Can You Get Slimeballs Without Slimes in Minecraft – What You Need to Know

Slimeballs are quite versatile in the world of Minecraft. If you’re playing Minecraft with no mods, they can be used to make Magna Cream, Slime Blocks, Sticky Pistons, Leads and more. If you’re playing with mods, you’ll find Slimeballs on your crafting table quite often. As versatile as these green little balls are, they’re somewhat difficult to come by. Slimes aren’t in the open roaming around biomes like creatures such as Creepers or Cows. If you know where to look and when, though, you’ll soon have an inventory filled with Slimeballs.

Maybe you aren’t interested in tracking down Slimes. Sadly, if you’re playing standard Minecraft i.e. mod-less Minecraft, then it can be tricky obtaining Slimeballs  — there are a few ways, though.

Getting Slimeballs From Beehives

If you can find a beehive, which are equally as difficult to come by as Slimes, then destroy it. There’s a 75 percent chance it drops a single Slimeball. Seeing as you likely need a lot of Slimeballs for whatever it is you’re trying to craft you can see how the beehive method isn’t the most efficient.

Getting Slimeballs by Killing Slimes

For anyone looking to obtain a large number of Slimeballs, killing Slimes is the way to go. There are a number of ways to find Slimes in Minecraft, but we’ve got the most tried and true method for you.

First things first, travel to a swamp biome. These biomes are usually areas with dark trees and grass, lots of vines and a large amount of swampy waters. They’re often found in ravines or on the outskirts of a forest biome. Once you’ve made your way to a swamp biome, search for the flattest piece of land possible.

How to Play Pearl in Valorant

1 year 10 months ago

With the release of Valorant’s Episode 5 dropping next week, players will have access to a brand-new map in the form of Pearl, alongside new skins and a Battle Pass to grind their way through. In this guide, we’ll run you through everything you need to know on how to play the new map, Pearl in Valorant, so you can check it out for yourself as soon as possible.

How to Play New Map Pearl in Valorant

Pearl is not available for the public to play yet. Only content creators and press have access for the time being. The map will go live at the start of the next Episode (5), which kicks off next week. Specifically, the Episode 5 update will roll out at roughly 3AM EST on Tuesday, June 22, in the US and 1AM GMT on Wednesday June 23 in EU/Rest of the World.

After the update has been downloaded, which will be larger than normal, players will be able to load up the game and play Pearl immediately.

Once you’re in the game, you will see a special “Pearl” game mode. Choose that option and then Start Match as per usual. This mode will only find games of Pearl.

The map will not be available in Competitive queues, typically for the first two weeks — just to iron out bugs. This is entirely normal and has been the case with other new maps that have been added to the game with its ‘Episode’ updates.

After a couple of weeks, Pearl will likely be added to Competitive queues, and we’ll update this post and let you know when this occurs.

Valorant Split Map Removed From Unrated & Competitive; Not Coming Back Anytime Soon

1 year 10 months ago

The fifth Episode of Valorant content was today revealed by Riot Games, which along with a new map, premium skin bundle, and battle pass, is set to launch in tandem with a new patch. The update, which launches next week, June 22, adds a new rank to the game and introduces a bunch of typical bug fixes, but there’s also an unusual change, too: Valorant’s map Split is being removed from both Unrated and Competitive.

Split has actually had a few strange issues following the launch of the game’s most recent update, Patch 4.11, which involved new ledges on A heaven giving Agents like Jett and Raze an overpowered hiding spot. It saw the map temporarily taken out of Competitive, too, before being reintroduced after the issues had been solved. This latest news, then, seemed to be in some way linked to the same type of issue, but as it turns out that isn’t the case.

Split is being removed because Riot Games wants to keep the map pool at just 7, a decision that design lead Joe Lansford explained in a recent article was taken after working with esports teams, surveying players, and talking with professional organizations.

Further, Riot believes that due to the fact that learning new maps in tactical shooters can be one of the most challenging, and with a new map having just been introduced, “seven is a nice sweet spot that offers both variety and mastery.”

The team had considered keeping Split in the Unrated map queue but decided that “keeping parity” between all map pools made more sense. Split will still be available in custom and alternate game modes, such as Spike Rush.

A Game of Thrones Spin-off Series Centering Around Jon Snow Is in the Works; Kit Harington to Return

1 year 10 months ago

No matter how low your opinion may be of Game of Thrones’ final season, no matter how badly you wish you could just forget that TV adaptation, HBO won’t stop until the IP has completely taken over the world. Because, well, what is dead may never die.

According to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, a spin-off series centering around Jon Snow has now entered early development.

Details about the series are scant, but the report also states that Kit Harington will be reprising his role as Jon Snow if the series moves forward. The series will be set after the events of Game of Thrones season 6, which means that theoretically, we’ll get to see more of how Jon grapples with his true identity as Aegon Targaryen.

Theoretically, we should also see the ramifications of the ending of season 6, and what Westeros looks like after Dany’s rampage and Bran’s rise to power.

HBO also has another Game of Thrones series in the works: a prequel series titled House of the Dragon, which is meant to explore the dynamics of the Targaryens. That series is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, which should also be interesting to follow.

We’ll keep you updated as more info about the Jon Snow series comes our way. Be sure to check out more of our Game of Thrones coverage as well, including our series trivia quiz, as well as our full breakdown of the season 6 ending in case you’re still reeling from that after all these years.

Minecraft: How to Grow Mushrooms

1 year 10 months ago

Out of all of Minecraft’s farmable materials, none are as fickle as the mushroom. This finicky fungus only grows in specific conditions, some of which can pose a health risk to your character. This guide should tell you everything you need to know about how to grow mushrooms in Minecraft.

How to Grow Mushrooms in Minecraft

There are two main types of mushrooms in Minecraft: huge and small. Regardless of which type you want to farm, it’s going to be a massive pain in the hiney, especially since you need to be mindful of the light levels while managing mob spawns at the same time.

That’s where we come in. We’ll go over how to grow both huge and small mushrooms down below.

Growing Huge Mushrooms

First off, you can use bone meal on red or brown mushrooms to get a huge mushroom to grow. Assuming the mushroom has enough room to grow, and it’s planted on a dirt, grass, podzol, mycelium, or nylium block, this is a good way to go.

  1. Set aside a 7x7x8 space, and make sure you have suitable blocks to grow your mushrooms on.

The above mentioned blocks will work, though podzol blocks are more readily available if you’re exploring the open-world.

  2. Plant a mushroom on your podzol block.

In Pokemon Snap, you play as a young student who travels around an island taking photographs of over 60 different Pokemon species. Professor Oak scores each photo as you work to fill the Pokedex. It’s an on-rails game with plenty of secrets to discover and items to unlock that will help you along the way.

A trailer introducing Pokemon Snap to the Nintendo Switch Online service presents an array of scenes from the various courses you’ll travel to in the game.

Pokemon Snap got a sequel on the Nintendo Switch last year, aptly titled New Pokemon Snap; if you enjoyed this latest game, you’ll soon be able to check out the original on Nintendo Switch Online soon enough if you never played it before.

You’ll need the Expansion Pack upgrade to the base online membership in order to play Pokemon Snap and the rest of the Nintendo 64 games on the Switch. This upgraded membership costs $49.99 per year for an individual membership and $79.99 for a family plan of up to eight people.

Pokemon Snap will be the seventh Nintendo 64 game to be added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service since it launched last year, with Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards being the most recent addition last month in May. New Nintendo 64 games have been added to this service roughly once a month.

As a part of the Final Fantasy 7 25th Anniversary Celebration, Square Enix has given fans their first look at the follow-up to 2020’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It’s titled Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and is set to release in Winter 2023, but what platforms will it be available on? Here’s everything you need to know about which platforms Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is heading to.

What Consoles Will Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Be On?

With just a single teaser trailer unveiled, as of right now Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is only confirmed to be arriving on PlayStation 5 when it launches in winter 2023.

This sets it apart rather drastically from the other titles announced during the same event, such as the Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion remake, which will be headed to all major platforms in addition to the PS5.

However, it’s important to keep in mind that while Final Fantasy 7 Remake originally launched as a PlayStation exclusive, it did eventually find its way to PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam post-release, so this could change as more time passes and Square Enix divulges more details pertaining to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Sonic Origins: Speed Strats Video Highlights New Game Modes and Features

1 year 10 months ago

Earlier today, Sega revealed the first edition of Speed Strats: a Sonic Origins video series that takes a closer look at the remaster set for release later this month. The presentation focuses on the different modes and additional features available for each title and can be viewed below.

Each platformer will be playable in either Classic and Anniversary mode. Both options include fully remastered visuals, but Classic presents them in the original 4:3 aspect ratio while Anniversary mode offers full widescreen support. As far as gameplay is concerned, Classic features the traditional difficulty with limited lives and game overs, while Anniversary lets you play through each title with unlimited continues. The collection will also feature a Story mode that allows you to play through all four games as a single continuous adventure, with newly created animated cutscenes bookending each one.

Brand new gameplay modes include Boss Rush and Mission Mode for each entry. The former lets you battle each of the game’s bosses without needing to progress through the levels that lead to them, and the latter sees players overcoming specific challenges to earn that coveted S rank. Each game also has a Mirror Mode, which allows you to play them backward.

Finally, the video revealed a new currency included in Sonic Origins in the form of coins. Coins are hidden throughout each game’s Anniversary mode and can also be earned through Mission Mode. Coins can be spent to unlock content in the in-game museum such as music, concept art, or videos, and can even be used to retry the games’ challenging special stages.

Seeing as it’s been two years since the first part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake came out, it is understandable fans have been eagerly awaiting news. The good news is that now that it has been announced, we can tell you when Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming out.

When Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Will Come Out

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be out in winter 2023 for the PS5 exclusively. While this exclusivity is maybe not the best news for those who already learned that Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion will be multi-platform, it is still inching closer to the full release of the whole Final Fantasy 7 Remake. If this is hinting at some pattern, part three of the remakes might be hitting sometime in 2026, though at this point that’s just a guess.

Plus, seeing as the news also dropped that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will be hitting Steam tomorrow, there is hope for the future.

That is all there is to know about when Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming out. Seeing as winter 2023 is still a somewhat wide window, be sure to stick around as we bring you the exact release date when we know it.

What Are the Differences between Story & Arcade Mode in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) Shredder’s Revenge?

1 year 10 months ago

Wondering the differences between Story & Arcade Mode in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT): Shredder’s Revenge are? Well brawler fans, you’re not the only ones that are wondering that, as the game’s roots as an arcade title kind of makes the naming of these two modes a little confusing. Don’t worry, though, we’ve got everything you need to know about the differences.

Story Mode in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT): Shredder’s Revenge

Story Mode in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is definitely more of a laidback and explorative experience. In this mode, you’ll be able to do a number of extra activities, like upgrading your characters, completing side quests, and collecting objects (and even an unlockable character).

You and your friends can also start, stop, and replay your favorite levels while in Story Mode at your leisure. Lastly, this mode also has unlimited lives, making it a much easier experience.

Arcade Mode in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT): Shredder’s Revenge

Arcade Mode is all about participating in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. Instead of having you find collectibles or level up your characters, this mode is all about fighting. That means your characters are fully powered up from the get-go and you have a limited set of lives, making things a bit more challenging.

Alongside this, you need to finish arcade mode in one sitting. There is no leaving or coming back to finish things later, as this is a straight shot from start to finish, going over the story beats in a much quicker fashion as a result.
