Dota Underlords leaves Steam Early Access, and strategy fans can also plot to control China with Romance of the Three Kingdoms 14. You can also create a whole heap of destruction in Bloodroots and One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows. Finally, if you missed out on the Mega Man Zero or ZX games, you can revisit them with the Zero/ZX Legacy Collection.

The auto-battler finally gets a full release this week. In case you're not familiar with the Dota-based strategy game, here's the gist: two players place heroes on an 8x8 grid, at which point the heroes duke it out without further input from the players--last hero standing wins. Harmonix Returns To Its Roots With Fuser, A Music Rhythm DJ Game

4 years 2 months ago

Over the years, Harmonix has become one of the premier rhythm game developers with its focus on experimenting with ways players can connect with music. Often times, this has been through the use of sophisticated peripherals and other unusual concepts, but with the upcoming Fuser, we see the developer return to their roots with a more approachable take on rhythm-action, focusing on honing your ability to read the crowd, and mastering your selection of songs.

Releasing Fall 2020 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch, Fuser is a music rhythm-action game focusing on the career and challenges of being a DJ. Instead of using a fancy controller resembling an instrument, you'll stick with your controller or keyboard and mouse as you perform in front of massive crowds at a music festival. We had the chance to go hands-on with the game, and it felt like a different flavor compared to more traditional music rhythm games.

While it follows the same flow of games like Rock Band or Guitar Hero, it also injects some puzzles elements where you'll need to figure out which piece meshes well with your current tracks. During our hands-on, we spoke with Harmonix product manager Daniel Sussman about the evolution of the game.

Ori And The Will Of The Wisps Connects You To Its World In A Way Its Predecessor Didn't

4 years 2 months ago

2015's Ori and the Blind Forest was a stellar and imaginative Metroidvania that focused heavily on an element of the sub-genre often left unexpressed: isolation. Following its tragic opening that set the stage for a lone forest spirit's journey into a dangerous world, the game connected you with its beautiful melancholic world and pushed you to face its hidden dangers head-on.

With the upcoming follow-up from Moon Studios, that lush world and humbling sense of scale from the original is expanding in scope. Ori and the Will of the Wisps leans further into the titular character's introspective journey, yet it feels much less lonely this time around. Instead of a small cast of characters struggling to survive in a crumbling world, Will of the Wisps has you connecting with inhabitants outside of Nibel forest and learning how Ori fits into the larger world. I got to spend some time playing the opening hours of Ori's next adventure while also speaking with Moon Studio about how the surprise success of the original game paved the way for the next adventure.

Picking up almost immediately after the original game, Will of the Wisps sees Ori and friends, including the guardian Naru and the spider-like scavenger Gumo, come together to raise Kuro's owl hatchling--the previous antagonist's sole heir. As their collective bond grows, Ori and the young owl are unexpectedly separated from their home and find themselves in a new land beyond the Nibel forest. Lost in a foreign land, Ori will have to gain new powers and friends to help them defeat a growing evil force, and reunite with their family.

Platinum Games Working On A New Hero-Based Action Game It Hopes Will Be The Studio’s Ultraman

4 years 2 months ago

The next title from Platinum Games has been revealed in the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, and details are now coming to light. The title, which is currently known as Project GG, will be directed by Hideki Kamiya (director of Bayonetta). [Update: Platinum Games has released a teaser trailer for Project G.G., which you can watch below. In a blog post, Kamiya confirmed that the project was in early production, and is still years away from release. It will be the first game both developed and published by Platinum Games.]

Prominent tweeter Wario64 has given an overview, based on information posted to Japanese website Ryokutya2089. Kamiya has said that the game is the third and final entry in his "hero" trilogy, following Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101.

In the interview, Kamiya and producer Atsushi Inaba talk about the project in relation to their previous works; they describe Viewtiful Joe as being like their Kamen Rider, while saying that this new game will be more like their Ultraman. There are two different ways one could interpret this in translation: either the game takes some inspiration from Japanese hero Ultraman and the tokusatsu genre, or they intend for the work to be as impactful as Ultraman, which is beloved in Japan and has been hugely influential on pop-culture as a whole.

Super Smash Bros. Gets An Unusual Spirit Crossover With This Shooter RPG

4 years 2 months ago

In the year since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate released, it's paid tribute to many games that aren't represented with a character through its assist trophies, music, Mii costumes, and spirits. Still, even as the game expands out, it's still capable of surprising us with the games that end up getting represented. Such is the case with addition of Lotus, a character from free-to-play shooter RPG Warframe, as a Spirit.

The character's appearance was announced on the game's Japanese Twitter account, and she'll appear in a Spirit Board event from February 23 through to March 3.

The Spirit Board event is called "Strength not Dyed! Black Spirits," and will feature characters--including Pokemon, a Bullet Bill, and Game and Watch characters--that are colored black all over. It's arguably a somewhat tone-deaf theme, considering how overwhelmingly white the game's (human) fighters are, but there you go.

Halo Infinite: Get A Closer Look At The Newly Revealed Action Figures

4 years 2 months ago

Following their initial reveal over the weekend at the New York Toy Fair, Microsoft has revealed higher-resolution images of the new Halo Infinite action figures that are on the way.

The items, which are made by Wicked Cool Toys in partnership with developer 343 Industries, include collectible figures and "premium" helmets. The 6.5" Master Chief figure is particularly noteworthy because its art and design is seemingly based off his MJOLNIR armor design from Halo 1-3, before 343 changed things up when it took over the franchise from Bungie.

There are also new Grunt and Brute figures coming, in addition to what appears to be a life-size Master Chief helmet featuring working headlamps. You can check out all the images in the tweet below.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Patch Notes For Today's Huge Update

4 years 2 months ago

Star Wars: Battlefront II developer DICE has detailed the next major update coming to the game. The Age of Rebellion update, which launches on February 26 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, includes new co-op locations, the Ewok Hunter and ISB Agent 4 characters, four new weapons, improvements for Hero characters, and two new Heroes vs. Villains maps, among other notable changes.

The Age of Rebellion update is themed around the original Star Wars trilogy. Starting with the new special units, the Ewok Hunter is a special version of the Ewok who carries a bow (with dual firing modes) and can use a "Valiant Horn" that can be blown to improve attacks and increase damage resistance. The Ewok Hunter can also throw Wisties at enemies to burn them.

The ISB agent, meanwhile, is a dual-wielding character who carries two RK-3 blasters. The character can also run extra fast and receive limited damage when the Assault Training ability is activated. She also has an Imperial Intel ability that scans the nearby area and reveals the location of the closest enemies.

The One Punch Man Game Is Getting A Season Pass--Here's The First DLC Character

4 years 2 months ago

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows releases on February 28, and Bandai Namco has released a launch trailer to prepare players for Saitama's amazing power. The trailer, amusingly, is a compilation of the eponymous One Punch Man beating every other character with a single punch.

You won't need to worry too much about whether this completely unbalances the game, though. Players who pick Saitama as one of their two fighters must survive long enough to actually use him, as it takes a while for him to arrive at the battlefield thanks to the "Hero Arrival" mechanic.

The launch trailer is below, and at the end it reveals that the game will get a season pass, introducing four new fighters post-launch.

Pokemon Go Armored Mewtwo: Best Counters, Raid Tips, And How To Catch

4 years 2 months ago

Pokemon Go's Pokemon Day event is now live. Not only can you find special party hat-wearing versions of Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and other Pokemon for a limited time, but Armored Mewtwo has returned to Raids as well, and this time it knows the Psychic-type Charged attack Psystrike.

Until the Pokemon Day event ends on March 2, Armored Mewtwo will appear in five-star Raids, making this your first chance to catch it since July 2019. If you need help adding one to your collection, we've put together some tips on how to battle and capture Armored Mewtwo below.

What's Different About Armored Mewtwo

The most obvious difference between Mewtwo and this new Armored form is its appearance. This version of the Legendary Psychic Pokemon is wearing the same power-suppressing armor that it dons in the Pokemon movie Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution. As a result, it has lower attack power than a standard Mewtwo, but it compensates by having higher defense.

Dragon Ball FighterZ Adds Free DLC Character Trials

4 years 2 months ago

With the release of Dragon Ball FighterZ's third season and the upcoming introduction of new characters in the form of the FighterZ Pass 3, Bandai Namco also revealed that DBFZ will get free trials of its paid DLC characters.

The first three characters available for all players--regardless of platform or currently-owned DLC--are the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly (his DBZ model, not the Super version introduced in FighterZ Pass 2), sword-wielding demon Janemba, and Frieza's much-cooler older brother Cooler. All three are playable from February 28 to March 1. Bandai Namco has confirmed that more free DLC trials are coming in the future, though it's unclear if they will always come in threes.

DBFZ's third season is officially underway, and with it comes a bunch of new additions and changes. Alongside balance adjustments and feature inclusions, such as the new Z Assist and Limit-Breaking Power, DLC fighters Kelfa (a fusion between Caulifla and Kale) and Ultra-Instinct Goku (the seventh Goku in the game) are also on the way. Kefla will be available on February 28 (or February 26 if you own the FighterZ Pass 3), while UI Goku joins the roster sometime between March 19 and June 20.

Some Of The Best VR Games Are Bundled For Cheap Ahead Of Half-Life: Alyx

4 years 2 months ago

We're still a month away from the release of Half-Life: Alyx, so if you want something to fill your time until then, Humble has a fantastic bundle chock-full of VR's best games. Like all of the company's bundles, you can get more games at different payment tiers and choose where your money goes: to the game developers, charity, and/or Humble itself. Superhot VR and Moss headline the bundle, though you'll need to pay $15 USD to get both of those games. The best part is that all of these games are redeemable on Steam and compatible with most VR headsets.

The first payment tier starts at $1 and gets you Cosmic Trip and Smashbox Arena, both of which have "Very Positive" user reviews on Steam. The next tier is to pay more than the average amount that users are donating--at the time of publishing, that's $14.28. That gets you Gorn, Budget Cuts, and Space Pirate Trainer. All three of these games are excellent. Gorn and Space Pirate Trainer have an "Overwhelmingly Positive" user rating on Steam, while Budget Cuts has a "Mostly Positive" rating.

And lastly, there's the highest payment tier of $15. This gets you two of the best VR games out there today: Superhot VR and Moss. Superhot VR is my personal favourite, as the slow-motion world that only moves when you move makes you feel like John Wick. In Moss, you help a brave little mouse named Quill on her adventure by solving puzzles and fighting enemies.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses Is $45 In Rare Deal, Its Cheapest Price Yet (Nintendo Switch)

4 years 2 months ago

Fire Emblem: Three Houses wasn't just one of the best Nintendo Switch releases of last year; it also made our list of the top 10 games of 2019. The Japanese tactics game expanded on the popular series in fresh and surprising ways while delivering a fantastic story with four different available routes (and this time, Nintendo didn't make players pay for different versions as it did with Fire Emblem Fates). Unlike some Nintendo Switch releases where fans have complained about an unwavering $60 price tag given the amount of content included (the Link's Awakening remake, Pokemon Sword and Shield, etc.), Fire Emblem: Three Houses feels worth every penny. That's why it's even more exciting to see the game on sale for just $45 right now at Amazon and Best Buy, a rare deal for any first-party Nintendo game.

Pokemon Go's Pokemon Day Event Now Live, Brings Back Armored Mewtwo, Clone Pokemon, And More

4 years 2 months ago

February 27 is Pokemon Day, the anniversary of the series' debut in Japan, and Pokemon Go is kicking off the festivities a little early with a new event. The Pokemon Day celebration is now live in Niantic's hit mobile game, bringing back party hat-wearing Pokemon, a special Legendary, and more.

Throughout the event, you'll be able to find party hat-wearing versions of Pikachu and Eevee in the wild. You'll also be able to hatch party hat Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle from 7 km eggs or encounter them in one-star Raids. Moreover, there's a chance any of these Pokemon could be Shiny.

Those aren't the only festive monster you'll be able to encounter during the Pokemon Day event. On Sunday, March 1, Niantic will hold a special Raid Day featuring party hat-wearing versions of Nidorino and Gengar, the two Pokemon that famously battled during Pokemon Red and Green's opening movie. Path Of Exile's First Expansion Of 2020 Revealed, Contains Biggest Change Since 2016

4 years 2 months ago

The first expansion of 2020 for the free-to-play, Diablo-style action RPG Path of Exile has been announced, and it sounds like a treat for fans of the game. Path of Exile: Delirium is launching on March 13 for PC before coming to PS4 and Xbox One the week of March 16.

Delirium features areas with a new item called the Mirror of Delirium. Touching the mirror causes your character to enter a state of "delirium" which adds a a creepy mist to the map and other spooky, otherworldly elements that are based on your character's deepest fears. In short, this mist invades the player's mind and creates new, more challenging scenarios that adds dynamic difficulty and tougher enemies.

The monsters that appear in Delirium spawn their own demons that are extra powerful, while the regular monsters get buffs that make them even deadlier. Additionally, the effects of the delirium affect every encounter, including bosses, so players should expect an even bigger challenge.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Patch Notes: New Bazaar Map, Infantry Ground War

4 years 2 months ago

The latest patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has gone live, adding a new map and several fixes along with balance tweaks. It's now available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The biggest item on the patch list is the new map, Bazaar. Shoot House has been added to a playlist with Shipment and Rust 24/7, and you can also play Rust as 3v3 Snipers. It also adds the earlier promoted Boots on the Ground War variant, using realism rules with no tanks.

Weapon balance has gotten some slight buffs and nerfs. The Crossbow has increased reload speed, the SA87 got reduced recoil, among others. The Under Barrel Shotgun got readjusted in some key ways--increased pellet count, increased shell count, increased range, but reduced rate of fire--so whether that counts as an upgrade or downgrade probably comes down to personal preference.

Pokemon Home's GTS Desperately Needs To Be Fixed

4 years 2 months ago

For many Pokemon players, the most exciting aspect of the recently launched Pokemon Home is not the ability to transfer Pokemon from 3DS to Switch (although that is certainly a big draw of the service), but rather the return of the Global Trade System. First introduced in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl back in 2007, the GTS allows you to place a Pokemon up for trade and request a specific monster in return, down to its level and gender. The feature is well-loved among fans because it offers an easy way to fill out your Pokedex, and it's been a staple of the series since its advent, appearing in every entry up until Sword and Shield. Naturally, news that it would be returning as part of Pokemon Home was very much welcome.

Unfortunately, the GTS is still a broken mess.

As helpful as the feature often is, there have always been a few inherent issues with GTS, none of which have been resolved. For one, you can request any of the series' 890-plus Pokemon in exchange for the one you offer up, which of course means there's a preponderance of people flooding the server with requests for Legendary Pokemon in return for their completely ordinary Caterpie. This has been a problem since the GTS was first introduced, but it seems particularly prevalent in Home.

A Resident Evil 3 Remake Demo Is On The Way

For those clamouring to get their hands on Resident Evil 3 Remake before it launches on April 3 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Capcom has you covered.

A demo for the upcoming survival horror remake is on the way. Capcom didn't say when it will arrive, only to expect details in the near future.

Last year's critically acclaimed Resident Evil 2 Remake received a one-shot demo a couple of weeks before the full game released. The demo begins as Leon Kennedy arrives at the Racoon City police department, giving players 30 minutes to reach its conclusion before being locked out of playing through it again. It wouldn't be too surprising if the Resident Evil 3 demo adopts a similar structure, giving players a brief taste of the beginning of Jill Valentine's adventure.

Xbox One X Hits Lowest Price Ever In This Amazing Deal

4 years 2 months ago

The Xbox One X is currently the most powerful console on the market, but with the upcoming Xbox Series X and PS5, it can be a little hard to justify a full purchase of the $500 console. Thankfully, Google Shopping's latest slate of deals has the Xbox One X down to $259.20, an absolutely ludicrous price for the 4K-capable console and the lowest we've seen so far. And while new consoles may be on their way, they're likely going to be much more expensive than this. Microsoft says that it won't release an Xbox Series X-exclusive game for at least a year or two after the console's launch, so you can rest easy knowing every first-party game will be playable on your Xbox One X. These deals are a part of a flash sale and run through February 29 or while supplies last.

Anthem's 1.7 Update Is Here, Check The Patch Notes

4 years 2 months ago

Troubled looter shooter Anthem has received its 1.7 Game Update, which adds a rotation of six daily challenges, three weekly challenges, and three meta-challenges. The update also adds seasonal gameplay modes and features to its regular rotation of events. This should make it easier for die-hard players to round out any weapons or armor they missed due to time-limited events.

While the update doesn't include any new content, it does include a free vinyl for players' Javelin suits as a login reward, in order to show off their love for the game. Developer BioWare has indicated that it intends to "focus on a longer-term redesign of the experience" in a future update. For now, however, the game will continue to recycle existing content for its playerbase, a fact that this update makes clear. You can see the full patch notes below.

Resident Evil 3 Remake Was Always Planned, Says Capcom

4 years 2 months ago

It's a wonder that Resident Evil 3 remake is coming so soon after last year's Resident Evil 2 remake. Given the timing in between the two releases, you might be quick to assume that development on RE3 might've been reactive to the positive reception of RE2. However, that wasn't the case. According to RE3's producer Pete Fabiano, once RE2 remake was greenlit, RE3 was already being considered and was in the cards.

"So RE2 started [development] first," said Fabiano in a recent GameSpot interview. "But one thing to clarify is that when we decided it was the right time to work on that game, we knew that we wanted to remake RE3 as well because it would essentially tie up the trilogy. We had already brought back the RE1 Remake with the remaster, and we were working on RE2, so we knew we wanted to have RE3, too. So it's not like it just came out after one year RE2 was done, and then suddenly you had RE3. It was planned."

He commented further: "But just to be clear, they didn't start development at the same time."

A Hat In Time Dev "Working On" Bringing DLC To PS4, Xbox

4 years 2 months ago

The cutesy 3D platformer A Hat in Time made waves when it was first released on PC in October 2017, making its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later that year. The two DLC packs for the game, which were released in 2018 and 2019 respectively, have never made their way to the two consoles due to "certain circumstances."

However, when developer Gears for Breakfast unveiled an unexpected port for the Nintendo Switch in October 2019, fans were surprised when the two DLC packs did eventually make their way to Nintendo's platform later that year. This led to questions about when the DLC was going to arrive on the other two consoles. While Gears for Breakfast hasn't confirmed anything yet, it did announce that it is working to get the additional content working on the PS4 and Xbox One.

NZXT's New H1 PC Case Looks Like The Xbox Series X

4 years 2 months ago

Prolific PC hardware manufacturer NZXT has revealed a new small form-factor PC case called the H1, and it looks strikingly similar to the vertical design of the upcoming Xbox Series X.

The mini-ITX chassis also stands vertical (but, unlike the Series X, cannot be put horizontally), and features a perforated ventilation design not on the top face, but around most of its sides. The chassis is the smallest NZXT has produced yet, and comes with some impressive inclusions that make building with it a lot easier than usual.

For starters, the H1 features a pre-integrating a 650W 80 Plus Gold power supply, as well as a 140mm all-in-one liquid cooler. The H1 certainly isn't the first PC chassis to include these pre-installed, especially in the mini-ITX realm, but both will come from NZXT's tried and tested range of high-quality PSUs and close-loop coolers.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint's Immersive Mode Delayed

4 years 2 months ago

If you're a Ghost Recon fan itching for a more realistic take on the tactical shooting that the series is known for, you're going to have to wait a little longer. In a blog post, Ubisoft announced that the promised immersive mode for Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be delayed into later this spring, along with the new engineer class.

"The complexity of integrating this new mode has proven to be a challenge and we want to ensure that the experience will be a great one when it releases," part of the statement reads.

This immersive mode comes as part of a larger effort by Ubisoft to improve the flagging fortunes of Breakpoint. More details on this new mode will be revealed on March 5. Additionally, Ubisoft says that it will try to better communicate the state of the game's development in the future, after some fans in the Breakpoint subreddit expressed skepticism that the update would roll out in February as planned.

Resident Evil 3 Remake Won't Have One Of The Original's Defining Features

4 years 2 months ago

Resident Evil 3 remake is looking to be quite a reimagining of the PS1 original, so it's no surprise that some mechanics from that game won't be returning. Similar to last year's Resident Evil 2 remake, Capcom is taking creative liberties with RE3 in both its source material's story and mechanics.

One particular omission in the upcoming remake is Live Selection, a system from the original where you're forced to decide between two choices within a limited time that would alter your approach to a dangerous situation.

During a recent interview with GameSpot, RE3 co-producer Pete Fabiano explained that the decision to remove Live Selection was to ensure a more authored experience. "So with this [remake], the director wanted to tell a consistent story with Jill, and how she and Carlos overcome Nemesis and eventually escape Raccoon City," said Fabiano. "We just wanted to keep it cohesive, so that you'll have a singular, more consistent narrative throughout."
