Cyberpunk 2077 Will Launch On Nvidia's Cloud Gaming Service

4 years 2 months ago

CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 will arrive on GeForce Now the same day as it launches on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google's competing cloud gaming service Stadia, Nvidia announced in a blog post.

GeForce Now members can play their Steam copy of Cyberpunk 2077 when it releases on September 17. Founders subscribers will get access to RTX On, a higher-fidelity resolution using ray tracing technology. Nvidia said the higher resolution will be "fully optimized and instantly available, even on your Mac laptop."

Much like Stadia and Sony's PlayStation Now, Nvidia's GeForce Now is a cloud gaming service that allows you to stream your favorite PC games directly to your Mac, PC, Nvidia Shield TV, or Android-based devices. The company officially launched GeForce Now earlier this month with two tiers.

Destiny 2 Is Getting A Bunch Of Weapon Nerfs Next Season

4 years 2 months ago

A host of small changes with big potential effects are coming to Destiny 2 when its next content season kicks off in March. They're mostly small tweaks that lessen the damage dealt by a variety of guns, and taken together, they seem likely to result in some changes to which guns players favor in the Crucible PvP arena, and which weapons are seen as essential to high-level content like raids.

Bungie detailed the changes in its This Week at Bungie blog post, which largely seem like they're aimed at keeping any given type of weapon from becoming a default choice in either PvP or PvE. Bungie is switching around one of the perks of Izanagi's Burden, an Exotic sniper rifle that has become a mainstay of loadouts for players taking on high-level enemies, which will make it reload a little slower but a little more reliable when you're under fire.

Two other weapons, which have become dominant in the Crucible, are also getting downgrades: Lord of Wolves and The Last Word. Lord of Wolves, in particular, has seen a major uptick in use; the shotgun carries an alternate fire mode that sprays a ton of ammo in a short period that makes it ridiculously deadly at close ranges. Bungie is tweaking the gun to reduce the accuracy of that alternate fire mode, making it effective only at very close range--and that should encourage Lord of Wolves users to try its normal firing mode when they're fighting at a little more distance.

PlayStation Cancels GDC Plans Over Coronavirus Concerns

4 years 2 months ago

PlayStation has announced it will not be attending GDC this year amidst concerns surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID19). Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, a Sony Interactive Entertainment representative said skipping the show was its best option and the safest decision when keeping in mind the welfare of its employees.

"We have made the difficult decision to cancel our participation in Game Developers Conference due to increasing concerns related to COVID-19 (also known as coronavirus)," the company confirmed. "We felt this was the best option as the situation related to the virus and global travel restrictions are changing daily. We are disappointed to cancel our participation, but the health and safety of our global workforce is our highest concern. We look forward to participating in GDC in the future."

GDC 2020 is set to begin on March 16 and run through March 20 in San Francisco. In addition to PlayStation, Facebook Gaming/Oculus is also opting to not attend the show, though it will still make announcements via a digital presence.

Wait, Which Animal Crossing Character Died?

4 years 2 months ago

Animal Crossing: New Horizons appears to follow in its predecessors' footsteps of being an utterly chill game. You catch some bugs, shake some trees, catch some fish, and so on. This time it all takes place on your own private, deserted island. What could be more relaxing?

Oh, also someone died.

At least, that's what appears to have happened, thanks to a brief glimpse in the latest Animal Crossing-themed Nintendo Direct. During the section detailing the game's terraforming features, the plucky island-dweller passed by the unmistakable image of a tombstone, caught by eagle-eyed fans.

Get All The PS4 And Xbox One Storage You'll Ever Need For Less Than $100

4 years 2 months ago

If you haven't already gotten yourself a big external hard drive for your PS4, Xbox One, or PC, then now is a good time to do so. There are a lot of games coming out this year, and most of them are going to have huge file sizes--and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's patches are gigantic. That's why these two recent deals on external hard drives from Amazon are so enticing. You can get two excellent drives for under $100 each.

The WD 5TB external hard drive costs $98.10, while the Seagate 6TB external hard drive is $90--both hard drives normally sell for $130 each. Both drives are available with free Prime two-day shipping and will give you plenty of space for a lot of games. I currently use a 4GB external hard drive, and I keep the vast majority of my Xbox One library on it and the console's own storage space.

Black Desert Online Is Adding Cross-Play Support

4 years 2 months ago

Black Desert Online is already an immensely popular MMO, and its collectible community is about to be united thanks to cross-play support on Xbox One and PS4.

The feature will be implemented on March 4, letting players on the two consoles party up and adventure together for the first time. Black Desert Online officially launched for both consoles last year, but the two platforms were kept restricted, as is the case with most games on Xbox One and PS4.

The PC version will still be separate from the other two. However, the game is quite popular on consoles, so it shouldn't be difficult to find friends across any platform.

Fortnite: Lockie's Lighthouse, Apres Ski, And Mount Kay Locations Guide (Week 1)

4 years 2 months ago

The second season of Fortnite Chapter 2 is now live on all platforms, and with it comes the first set of Season 2 challenges. This time around, Fortnite's weekly missions will be themed around the new agent character skins you can unlock through the Season 2 Battle Pass. The first set of challenges is called Brutus's Briefing, and one of its trickier tasks is to land at Lockie's Lighthouse, Apres Ski, and Mount Kay. If you're not sure where any of those areas are located, we've put together this map and guide to help you out.

Where Are Lockie's Lighthouse, Apres Ski, And Mount Kay Locations?

You'll need to land at three specific locations in order to complete these challenges. While the challenge tells you the names of the locations, they're not explicitly pointed out on the game's map, so you may have some trouble tracking them down if you're not already familiar with the layout of the island. Fortunately, all three are fairly easy to find.

Lockie's Lighthouse is found on the northernmost part of the map, in grid C1. Apres Ski is on the opposite end of the island; you'll find it atop a mountain southwest of Misty Meadow, in grid E8. Mount Kay is relatively close by; it's located in grid G7. We've highlighted where all three locations are on the map below.

Here's How Fortnite's Map Just Changed For Season 2 Of Chapter 2

4 years 2 months ago

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 has officially begun, offering the usual suite of changes. You can get started completing challenges with a new Battle Pass, earning new cosmetic rewards like skins and back bling, and take part in some new game mechanics to go with this season's spy theme. And of course, you'll be playing all of this on a revamped map.

The changeover from Chapter 1 to Chapter 2 represented a huge shift in the Fortnite playing field, but this one is a more modest update similar to the changes between seasons in Chapter 1. The map is fundamentally the same, with new landmarks and points of interest, some of which are involved in the latest set of seasonal challenges.

The biggest and most noticeable change is the addition of the Agency, a sprawling spy fortress with enemy henchmen and chutes to hide in for the true espionage-action feel. This replaces the area previously known as Eye-Land. Other bases are scattered throughout different areas, each housing a number of enemy henchmen: the Grotto in the southeast, the Yacht in the northeast, the Shark in the northwest, and the Rig in the southwest.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Documentary Set To Premiere Later This Month

4 years 2 months ago

A new documentary on the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series is set to premiere at the Mammoth Film Festival in Mammoth Lakes, California at the end of this month.

As announced by the legendary skater on Instagram, Pretending I'm a Superman is a documentary about the THPS franchise, tracking how skateboarding culture almost collapsed in the early ‘90s before skyrocketing into mainstream appeal thanks to the X Games event and the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video games. The Mammoth Film Festival runs from February 27 to March 2, and the documentary debuts on February 29 at 4 PM. Tickets for the showcase are still available.

Ralph D’Amato, a former producer at the now-defunct THPS developer Neversoft, produced Pretending I'm a Superman alongside Swedish filmmaker Ludvig Gür. Tony Hawk, D’Amato, Gür, and fellow pro skater Rodney Mullen will all be at the Mammoth Film Festival. There will be a panel discussion after the documentary, and an afterparty where the THPS cover band The Downhill Jam is scheduled to perform.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Patch Notes For New Updates Out Now

4 years 2 months ago

Infinity Ward has released two new in-game updates for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. There are no patches to download; instead, the game will automatically update upon starting.

Yesterday's update focused on a number of general bug fixes. Regiment tags should now appear as intended, while there's also a fix for players receiving the "Jockworth" error in Gunfight tournaments, and a fix for a CDL Gunfight exploit, among others.

Another, smaller update went live today, solving just two issues. There's a fix for Regiment tags showing as "3 3" and a fix for some players being unable to claim existing Battle Pass tokens.

Apex Legends Kings Canyon Map Returns Tomorrow (Temporarily)

4 years 2 months ago

Well, this is a nice surprise. Starting tomorrow, February 21, Apex Legends will see the return of Season 1: Wild Frontier's Kings Canyon map. The map will remain in the game for the weekend, leaving on Monday, February 24.

Apex Legends' original map will return as a separate playlist in the game, allowing you to play in unranked on either Kings Canyon or World's Edge. The competitive playlist will continue to only support World's Edge, though it will transition to Kings Canyon halfway through Season 4: Assimilation.

It's worth noting that, as it's the one from Wild Frontier, the Kings Canyon that's coming back is not exactly the same as the one we last saw. Kings Canyon underwent a major transformation in Season 2: Battle Charge, which saw both leviathans and flyers invade the arena.

Fortnite Season 2 Week 1 Challenges (Brutus's Briefing)

4 years 2 months ago

Season 2 of Fortnite Chapter 2 is now live on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, and mobile devices. Along with the host of new skins, changes, and other content the big Season 2 update has introduced to the game, the first set of Season 2 challenges is now live, and this time things are a little different.

To tie into Season 2's spy theme, weekly missions will revolve around Fortnite's new agents--the character skins you can unlock via the Season 2 Battle Pass. If you complete enough of these challenges, you'll eventually unlock a special "final mission." You'll be able to choose between Ghost or Shadow versions of this mission, which will then unlock a corresponding new style for that character skin. However, your choice will be permanent, so you'll need to think carefully about which style you want.

The skateboarding simulator will now launch sometime this spring, according to a developer update.

Crea-ture Studios took to Steam to give an update on Session, which is currently available in Early Access on PC (and 25% off now through February 26). The Witcher And Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Is Now Europe's Second-Largest Video Game Company

4 years 2 months ago

CD Projekt is the second-largest video game company in Europe as of this week. By current market valuation, the developer of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 trails only Ubisoft.

Based in Warsaw, Poland, CD Projekt's market valuation climbed to $8 billion this week, surging up from its previous valuation of $6.8 billion just a month ago. Compared to Ubisoft, the France-based company currently has a market valuation of $9.6 billion, but these values often fluctuate on a day-to-day basis. The $8 billion market cap for CD Projekt refers to the total value of all the company's shares of stock, representing the value placed on the company should it be sold.

While CD Projekt originally began as a distributor of foreign games in its native Poland, the company eventually began developing its own games under the CD Projekt Red label, with The Witcher series being its most notable. It even launched its own distribution service in 2008 with GOG.

Take-Two Interactive subsidiary Private Division, the publisher of Panache Digital Games' Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey and Obsidian Entertainment's The Outer Worlds, has opened a new studio in Seattle, Washington to handle development on the space flight simulator series Kerbal Space Program.

This Seattle-based studio will focus exclusively on KSP, taking over development from Star Theory. In a press briefing, Take-Two confirmed that this new team is comprised of members who have already worked on Kerbal Space Program 2, which will launch sometime between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021. "When we first acquired Kerbal Space Program, we knew it would continue to be a blockbuster franchise. Everything New In Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2

4 years 2 months ago

Fortnite has launched its Chapter 2 Season 2 (C2S2) update on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile--the first new season since the big chapter changeover last year. The event was heralded by a week of teasers suggesting an espionage theme, with secret agents dropping coded messages all around the globe. Sure enough, the update is all about spycraft, with competing covert factions Ghost and Shadow. This time you can choose your allegiance to one of these factions, and receive different challenges and rewards as a result.

We also know that Deadpool will be this season's secret unlock, though it's unclear exactly when the merc with a mouth will become available.

As usual, the new season comes with a new Battle Pass to purchase for 950 V-Bucks (about $10 USD), and its requisite cosmetic rewards like a bunch of new skins. Plus, developer Epic has made plenty of small gameplay adjustments and new mechanics to mix up the meta as we head into another season. To catch you up, we've compiled everything new in C2S2 below. More content roll-outs may be coming over the next few weeks as well, so check back for updates.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 Update Is Now Live

4 years 2 months ago

The second season of Fortnite Chapter 2 has officially begun. Following a string of teasers, developer Epic Games has rolled out Fortnite's big Season 2 update on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile, bringing a wealth of new content, changes, skins, and more to the hit battle royale shooter. Epic has not released the Season 2 patch notes itself, but players are working together to assemble their own.

As the studio had been teasing, Chapter 2 Season 2 has a spy theme. The island has been taken over by two warring covert factions known as Ghost and Shadow. You'll be able to side with one of the two when completing weekly Battle Pass challenges, which will determine the upgrade style for that character. There's also Deadpool for some reason.

To go along with the spy theme, a number of new points of interest have been added to the map. Among these are enemy bases. These are heavily guarded, but if you can infiltrate them and defeat the leader within, you'll be able to snag "unique and powerful weapons."

Fortnite Season 2 Patch Notes Are MIA, But Fans Create Unofficial List

4 years 2 months ago

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 is live now for everyone across all platforms, bringing with it new locations to explore, a new spy-themed skins, and even Deadpool. But what gameplay tweaks and fixes are included in the large patch, update 12.0?

That's a little harder to discern, given that Epic Games has stopped releasing official patch notes for the Battle Royale portion of Fortnite for some time now. Thanks to the collective efforts of players on the official subreddit (and graciously collected by The Ace) we have some indication of what weapons have been vaulted, what bugs have been squashed, and what new gameplay mechanics have been introduced in Chapter 2, Season 2.

A large part of this new season are five new points of interest around the map, each of which feature NPCs defending rare weapons for you to collect. Additionally, you can now creep around the map Solid Snake style in a cardboard box, use dumpsters and toilets to teleport around the map, and throw consumable items like bandages to teammates around you.

Deadpool Skin Is Fortnite Season 2's Secret Unlock, But You Can't Get It Yet

4 years 2 months ago

Fry up some chimichangas and knock down that fourth wall, because Deadpool is coming to Fortnite as part of the new Chapter 2, Season 2 update. The Merc with a Mouth is the latest Marvel character to come to the game, though he will probably not be as devastating as Thanos.

Deadpool was revealed in the game's Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 2 Battle Pass trailer, popping onto the screen in his usual goofy fashion. He's also seen bathing in a pile of V-Bucks; the Battle Pass still costs 950 V-Bucks or about $9.50. Fully leveling up the Battle Pass will earn you a total of 1,500 V-Bucks, which should more than cover the cost of Season 3's Battle Pass.

The latest update also added weekly challenges from Deadpool, including one to find a letter he sent to Epic Games. It's fitting with the character's self-aware persona, as he has routinely referenced when he was in a comic book or movie before.

Fortnite Season 2: All Battle Pass Skins And Rewards

4 years 2 months ago

Fortnite is back with a new season, the first since Chapter 2 began last October. The new Chapter 2 Season 2 (C2S2) update has rolled out on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and mobile devices, offering a new spy theme, map changes, and more. It includes a new Battle Pass as well for 950 V-Bucks (roughly $10 USD), complete with 100 levels of rewards to unlock. Those include weapon skins, emotes, back bling, and character skins, some of which have their own unique challenges to complete.

On the whole, you can collect almost 100 pieces of new gear, and while you're at it, earn up to 1,500 V-Bucks--plenty to buy your way into the next season's Battle Pass. Some standout skins include a musclebound cat named Meowscles, a shape-shifting Maya variation, golden-armed Midas, and others. A trailer for the battle pass also revealed that we can expect to see Deadpool join the lineup this season as the secret unlockable skin, though it's unclear exactly when. Epic likewise hasn't released Season 2 patch notes, but players are working to cobble together their own.

With the spy theme, players are able to pick sides between the Ghost and Shadow factions. Those choices will result in different challenge missions and rewards. The map has also changed to add a luxury yacht, volcano hideout, and mansion.

You Can Recover Animal Crossing: New Horizons Save Data--But There's A Big Catch

4 years 2 months ago

During its Animal Crossing-focused Direct, Nintendo once again confirmed that the upcoming New Horizons will not make use of Nintendo Switch Online's cloud save backup function, but NSO subscribers will have a way to recover their save data should something unfortunate happen to their system. However, this feature comes with one notable caveat.

In fine print during the presentation, Nintendo specifies that you will only be able to recover your Animal Crossing: New Horizons save data one time should your Switch get lost or damaged. As previously mentioned, this service will only be offered to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, and it won't be available until sometime after the game launches.

This isn't the only unusual save data restriction New Horizons imposes on players. Nintendo recently confirmed that only one island can exist per Nintendo Switch console--so if another player who shares your system would like to start their own island, they'll need their own Switch and game. Additionally, you will not be able to transfer your New Horizons save data from one Switch system to another.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons New Characters Revealed, Old Ones Confirmed

4 years 2 months ago

All of the Animal Crossing games are filled with a collection of adorable anthropomorphic animals (save for Mr. Resetti--he can go to hell). In the February 2020 Nintendo Direct, we see that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is no different, featuring a motley crew of faces, some old and some brand-new.

The Direct revealed several brand-new characters: Daisy Mae, C.J., and Flick. Daisy Mae is a turnip seller like Joan, while C.J. seems to represent the Fishing Tourney and Flick seems to handle the Bug-Off (Joan is mysteriously absent). We also got names for the two dodo birds that operate the airport and fly the private plane; they're Orville and Wilbur, an homage to the Wright Brothers.

Longtime fans will recognize the Museum (traditionally run by Blathers and Celeste), Nook's Cranny (traditionally run by Tom Nook or his children), and Able Sisters (traditionally run by Mabel and Sable)--all hallmark stores of the Animal Crossing franchise. Animal Crossing: New Leaf's Campground (overseen by Harvey) makes a return too.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Amiibo Support Detailed

4 years 2 months ago

Nintendo revealed a ton of new information about Animal Crossing: New Horizons during the game's dedicated Direct presentation. On top of showing off a variety of welcome quality-of-life improvements, the company confirmed New Horizons will have Amiibo support. Here's how it'll work.

New Horizons will be compatible with both the Animal Crossing Amiibo figures as well as the Amiibo cards. By scanning an Amiibo, you can invite that character to your island's campground. You can also take photos with them in a new photoshoot mode called Photopia.

There are currently 16 different Animal Crossing Amiibo figures, many of which can still be found for cheaper than their release price. Given that New Horizons is one of the most anticipated Switch games of the year, you'll probably want to snap up some of these Amiibo while you can, in case their price increases closer to the game's launch. We've rounded up where you can snag each Amiibo figure--as well as some other great Animal Crossing-themed gear--in our Animal Crossing accessory guide.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Will Have Free Updates For Holidays, Events

4 years 2 months ago

As part of its Animal Crossing-focused Direct, Nintendo has detailed plans for how it intends to support the upcoming Switch entry, New Horizons. As revealed during the Nintendo Direct, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will have multiple free updates post-launch.

The first of these free updates arrives on March 20--the game's release day--and will introduce Bunny Day. From that point on, holidays and events that aren't already in the game will be introduced as they come up in the real-life calendar. This gradual rollout means that the system clock and other exploits can't be manipulated to do some virtual time-travelling and see events before Nintendo intends them to be available.

The Animal Crossing franchise delivers what many treat as lifestyle experiences. Each game invites players to check in day after day to do small tasks, chat with friends in the world, progress in developing their place in the town, and customize their living spaces. As such, events are a big part in keeping the games fresh, and it looks like Nintendo has grand designs on making sure players are always entertained and excited about what's happening.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Lets You Terraform Your Island

4 years 2 months ago

During its Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct, Nintendo revealed new construction features to help you customize your island. As shown during the presentation, the Nook Phone--an in-game smartphone with a variety of helpful apps--includes an unlockable "Island Designer" app that allows you to mold your island to your liking.

The most drastic feature is the ability to change your island's terrain, a first for the series. In past Animal Crossing games, you'd have to reset the game if you didn't like your town's layout at the start. Like previous games, New Horizons gives you a choice of four island layouts at the beginning--but even if you like your layout to begin with, you can now alter it over time and as your needs or aesthetics change.

This includes adding or deleting cliffs, adding or removing water features, and even adding slopes to aid in island navigation. You do all this in real-time via the Island Designer mode rather than scheduling construction somewhere and then waiting for it to finish, though it appears you can still pay to construct bridges like you could in New Leaf. You can also pay to build staircases around town, a brand-new feature that should also help you get up cliffs with ease.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Uses The Nintendo Switch Online App In Neat Ways

4 years 2 months ago

Nintendo shared a wealth of new details about Animal Crossing: New Horizons during its Animal Crossing Direct broadcast. As we recently learned through the company's website, New Horizons will support the rarely used Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app, and now we know exactly how it'll be used.

Shortly after New Horizons launches, the title will get its own game-specific service in the NSO app called Nook Link. Among other things, you can use this feature to scan QR codes of patterns designed in the series' 3DS games, New Leaf and Happy Home Designer, letting you import those patterns into New Horizons easily.

Nook Link also lets you communicate with other players when playing. Not only can you voice chat through the app, as you can with a handful of other Switch games, but you are also able to type out text messages. These messages will then be displayed in the game as a speech bubble above your character's head.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Adds A Tool Wheel And Other Much-Needed Improvements

4 years 2 months ago

Animal Crossing: New Horizons marks the franchise's debut on Nintendo Switch. Though the traditional game loop of accruing additional home and character cosmetics, forging friendships, and paying off your sizable debt to Tom Nook returns, New Horizons makes some welcome quality-of-life adjustments to the Animal Crossing formula.

Perhaps the most notable addition is an unlockable tool wheel. Much like a weapon wheel in shooters, the tool wheel makes it easier to quickly switch between all of the items in your inventory--such as the shovel, fishing rod, and axe. No more need to equip each specific tool when you want to use it!

New Horizons also has a Rescue Service, which you can call whenever you're stuck or lost. For a cost, the service will help you get back home in a pinch.

Fortnite Season 2 Update Is All About Spies, Hideouts, And Deadpool

4 years 2 months ago

After some delay, resulting in the longest season yet, Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 is now live, and brings with it a super-secret spy theme to shake things up in the Battle Royale--just don't expect any official patch notes, at least at this point.

The trailer below shows off some of the new skins the season will introduce, including a very strange cat and muscular man hybrid called Meowscles, a variation of Maya that will look different to every other player in a match, the golden-armed Midas, and more. Another trailer for this season's battle pass also reveals that Deadpool is joining as a special Battle Pass skin, although there's no firm date on when that will happen.

With the spy theme, Epic Games is asking you to pick sides for this season, giving you specific challenges and rewards based on your choice. You'll also be able to visit all new points of interest on the map, such as a luxury yacht, volcano hideout, opulent mansion, and more to face off against NPCs from your opposing faction for some good loot rewards.

Ring Fit Adventure Stock Shortages Are Reportedly Driven By Resellers

4 years 2 months ago

Ring Fit Adventure, the Switch's innovative fitness game, has been a success for Nintendo, cracking the top 10 sales charts in the US in October 2019. It has continued to do well since, again making it into the top 10 in January 2020. It's doing so well, in fact, that some stores are facing stock shortages--and one Australian retailer has had to limit the number of copies that customers can buy, as resellers are buying multiple copies to sell at an inflated price.

Kotaku Australia is reporting that EB Games, the Australian arm of GameStop, has had to limit sales to two copies per person, as the game is being snapped by by resellers. As the rare game that is not available digitally (as it requires physical peripherals to operate), this means that many players are not able to get their hands on it.

As Kotaku Australia points out (via Abacus News), there's also been an increase in interest towards the game in China, where the Switch recently went on sale--it represents a safe way to exercise at home amidst concerns sparked by the outbreak of the Coronavirus. Resellers have thus been able to sell the game for around double its retail price in Australia.

PAX East And Other PAX Events Will Go Forward Amid Coronavirus Concerns

4 years 2 months ago

Reed Exhibitions, the company that organizes PAX and other events in the gaming and entertainment spaces (among other industries), has issued a statement regarding the Coronavirus. The group says all of its events are still planned to go forward "unless otherwise advised."

This includes PAX East, which takes place starting next week in Boston, Massachusetts. Gaming giant Sony recently announced it was pulling out of the show, and canceling the world's first public hands-on with The Last of Us: Part II, due to concerns around the virus.

"PAX East 2020 will take place as scheduled with enhanced cleaning and sanitization across the show, including adhering to the recommendations set forth in the U.S. EPA's Emerging Pathogen Policy regarding cleaning disinfectants effective against the COVID-19 virus," reads a statement on the PAX East website.

Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord Finally Hits Early Access In March

4 years 2 months ago

After a long wait and a period of silence, we finally know when we'll be able to play Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. The game, last seen at Gamescom 2018, will enter Early Access on March 31, developer Taleworlds has announced. This Early Access release window was promised back in August 2019, but it's nice to have the date confirmed.

The game will cost $49.99/€49.99/£39.99.

The sequel to Mount & Blade: Warband (which is actually, chronologically, a prequel) was first announced in 2016, so fans of the original (released in 2010) have been waiting a long time. Like its predecessor, this is an action-RPG with some strategy elements, that can be played alone in its campaign mode or online against other players.

New PUBG Patch Live On PC--Everything You Need To Know About Update 6.2, Team Deathmatch Mode

4 years 2 months ago

The latest big update for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is now live on PC, and will be making its way to the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game soon. The major highlight of this patch is the new team deathmatch mode, which allows for eight-on-eight gunfights across seven different arenas taken from the game's maps. The mode, which has been added as part of the game's sixth season, is available through the Arcade menu.

Victory in a round is decided when a team hits 50 kills, or by which team has the most kills after 10 minutes, and a team needs to win two of three rounds to secure the overall win. Players can respawn and earn points for both kills and assists, which can then be used to restore health if you go five seconds without receiving damage. There are no knockdowns or friendly fire.

Changes have also been made to grenades, with the patch notes noting differences across every different kind. Here's what to expect.

Captain Tsubasa: Rise Of New Champions Shows Wild Anime Story And Moves In New Trailer

4 years 2 months ago

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is a different take on soccer from what the likes of FIFA 20 and PES 20 offer, letting players tap into the power of anime. A new trailer has been announced for the game's story mode, showing off not only some of the game's more melodramatic plot elements, but also the character-specific super moves that you'll get to use and play against.

The trailer emphasizes the importance of working as a team, and shows off the cast of characters that will likely be familiar to fans of the franchise.

The trailer is the game's second, following the earlier announcement trailer. We also have footage from a hands-on session with the game, which is due to release on Switch, PS4, and PC later in 2020.

Captain Tsubasa's manga has been running, under different names, since 1981. The most recent incarnation is Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun, which is now printed in the new Captain Tsubasa Magazine. It has also been adapted into multiple anime series.

The 3 Best Nintendo Switch Grip Cases In 2020

4 years 2 months ago

The Nintendo Switch console is one of the most versatile gaming systems ever made. It's a portable console you can hook up to your TV. Switch games aren't always state-of-the-art tech-wise, but they still look great on a TV, and with the Switch Pro controller, they play just like they would on any other console when the console is hooked up to the Switch dock (which includes a pair of front-facing USB to hook up a wide variety of controllers). Playing games on the Switch console itself on the go, the screen looks great, and feels like a large, flat controller that isn't too heavy. The Switch Lite is even easier on the hands, with a proper controller d-pad (though you might want to invest in a screen protector, just in case). You can even mix things up, using the included stand to play it while it's lying on a table, and use a Pro controller without a cable to play during your gaming sessions.

The problem is that it's not always the best portable gaming experience; the battery life on the original model is bad enough that you're charging it all the time (Nintendo has since released a version of the console with improved battery life), and with all the motion controls, small buttons, and lack of a real rubber grips (or any grip, really) on the Joy-Cons, it's often not comfortable, especially during longer sessions of input-heavy games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Even the Switch Lite, which sports a smaller form factor and stronger battery, tends to benefit from having a Pro controller around sometimes, especially if you want to play multiplayer games on it.
