The Last Of Us Part 2 Safes Guide: Every Combination Answer

3 years 10 months ago

Like its predecessor, The Last of Us Part II contains several environmental puzzles. Among the ones you'll come across on your adventure are the combination safes. If you're having trouble with finding the safes or their corresponding clues for figuring out all of the combinations, you've come to the right place. If you just want the answer and don't care about solving the riddles, we have those listed too.

Just so you know, we do have to go into slight story spoilers in this guide to explain where certain safes are. We don't go into narrative developments, but we do spoil what type of locations you'll visit in the game by describing where to find certain safes and their corresponding clues.

So if you want to go into The Last of Us Part II completely free of spoilers, we suggest playing through the game first and then coming back to this guide for a new game plus run or follow-up playthrough. There are 15ish safes in the game to find. We say 15ish as two of the combination locks you need to solve aren't connected to safes--one is a vault, the other is a cage. However, we've decided to throw them in here anyway.

Demon's Souls On PS5 Gets One New Screenshot, And It's A Big One

3 years 10 months ago

Demon's Souls is getting a PS5 remake, and it looks stunning. Now, a single new screenshot has emerged on the official PlayStation 5 games site, and while a single new screenshot often isn't newsworthy, this one is different.

The screenshot, below, shows what we believe is the Tower Knight, a huge boss encountered in the courtyard of Boletarian Palace in the original game. The fight against Tower Knight was made very difficult in the original release by eight archers who attacked you during the encounter, and we imagine it'll remain difficult on PS5.

Demon's Souls for PlayStation 5

This screenshot is also another example of just how good Demon's Souls will look on PS5, thanks to the expertise of developer Bluepoint Games.

The Last Of Us Part 2 Trading Card Guide: Where To Find Every Card

3 years 10 months ago

If you played through The Last Of Us, you might remember that despite all its grim post-apocalypse trappings there was still some good old video game-style collecting that you could do, picking up issues of the fictional in-world comic book, Savage Starlight. Unsurprisingly, The Last Of Us Part II hides collectibles in its environments too, one of which is trading cards. These trading cards feature a few cameos from the development team at Naughty Dog, and collecting all 46 of them will net you a gold trophy--you like trophies, right? Of course you do.

A lot of cards can be found more or less in plain sight, but a few of them definitely take a bit more sleuthing to find. In this guide, we'll point you towards the location of every trading card in the game, divided by chapter. For some additional help, we recommend turning on the game's High Contrast mode in the accessibility options--this might make it easier for you to spot these tiny pieces of cardboard in the busy environments. Also consider turning on the Enhanced Listening Mode in the Navigation and Traversal accessibility menu, since that'll let you send out a ping which locates all items in your immediate area.

Need help with some other parts of The Last Of Us Part 2? You're in luck, because we have a bunch of guides going up for those that need a little extra helping hand in the post-apocalypse. Check back often, as we'll be posting it piece by piece gradually. We recommend bookmarking our Last of Us Part II guide roundup, which we will keep updated with the latest walkthroughs and guides as they get published.

Cyberpunk 2077's PS5 And Xbox Series X Versions Are Coming, Upgrading Will Be Free

3 years 10 months ago

Although the game is content-complete, CD Projekt Red delayed Cybpunk 2077 to November this year for bug-fixing. The developer held a call with investors regarding the delay, and during the 45-minute presentation, the studio confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer is also delayed, while the company spoke about the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X editions as well and how they will be free for existing players.

Cyberpunk 2077's expansions and multiplayer modes are going to be delayed proportionally with the game release. "When it comes to multiplayer, similarly to the expansions, its launch is going to be propotionally delayed as well. Although multiplayer is a bit more distant anyway," the company said.

On the subject of Cyberpunk 2077's PS5 and Xbox Series X editions, the company said that the game will be playable on those consoles at launch with a next-gen patch that adds some improvements based on the horsepower of those consoles. "It will look better on next-generation consoles," the company said. However, a "more robust update" will come later. This new game will be free for everyone who bought Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 or Xbox One. The full details on the upgrade scheme, however, have not been announced.

As we recommended in the trading card guide, for additional help we recommend turning on the game's High Contrast mode in the accessibility options, as well as the Enhanced Listening Mode in the Navigation and Traversal accessibility menu if finding these things means a lot to you.

EA's big E3-style announcement event, EA Play Live 2020, brought a lot of news about Madden NFL 21 and FIFA 21, but the company's other big sports game--NHL 21--wasn't mentioned at all.

The game's community manager said on Twitter that there is no reason to worry. The game is coming, and it's expected to be the franchise's best skate forward yet, the developer said.

This is nothing new or unusual, as EA typically focuses on Madden and FIFA during its E3 events, and leaves NHL for a later date.

Be Careful: FIFA 21 On Switch Will Be Another Legacy Edition

Bad news for anyone looking to pick up FIFA 21 on Nintendo Switch later this year--the game, which was showcased on PS5 and Xbox Series X as part of EA Play 2020, will get another Legacy Edition release on Switch this year.

EA has confirmed that this version of the game will feature kit and squad updates, but does not include "new game modes or gameplay innovations." This includes the Volta mode introduced in FIFA 20, or indeed any changes introduced prior to FIFA 18. There's no Story mode, either.

Outside of these kit and squad updates, you'll get an updated menu and broadcast overlays, but that's it.

Why Star Wars: Squadrons' TIE Fighters Aren't At A Disadvantage Against X-Wings

3 years 10 months ago

EA showed off a much longer look at Star Wars: Squadrons during its EA Play presentation, including our first look at gameplay. The dogfighting game looks to be a modernization of the classic X-Wing and TIE Fighter series. In an interview with GameSpot as part of our summer gaming celebration Play For All, creative director Ian Frazier suggested that inspiration runs deep, and shared more details on game balance and team composition.

For one thing, unlike the Rogue Squadron series, there is no option to switch to third-person view. You'll be engaging in all of your dogfights through the first-person cockpit view, in part for game balance. Frazier said that third-person would give players a competitive advantage over the limited field-of-view of first-person. But it goes a step further, to the point that you could turn off all the game HUD elements for full immersion.

"The whole game is designed from the ground up to be first-person all the way through," Frazier said. "Now if you're in spectator mode, you're observing, there's a third-person perspective there. You are the pilot. All the diegetic information is built into the hud, so you could turn off all the game layer UI if you want and rely entirely on your instruments. We want that to be the core experience."

EA Play Teases PS5/Xbox Series X Plans For BioWare, DICE, And More

3 years 10 months ago

Much as you'd expect, Electronic Arts has a variety of studios at work on games for the next generation of consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X. But while a brief glimpse at Madden NFL 21 and FIFA 21 was our only direct look at next-gen EA games during EA Play, the publisher did offer the vaguest of hints about what some of its biggest studios are working on.

BioWare, the studio behind Mass Effect and Dragon Age, is said to be continuing its work on the type of story- and character-driven games it's known for. Whether that comes in the form of new entries in those aforementioned franchises or something else is unknown.

Likewise, Battlefield maker DICE is continuing its work on its shooter franchise. A new Battlefield was previously confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X, and DICE will apparently be utilizing the power of those consoles to provide a bigger experience than ever before. That could mean higher player counts and larger maps, but just how this will manifest itself is being left to our imaginations for the time being.

PS5 And Xbox Series X's FIFA 21, Madden 21 Showcased At EA Play

3 years 10 months ago

One of the final reveals during EA Play involved Electronic Arts' sports offerings. Specifically, EA Sports provided a brief glimpse of both Madden NFL 21 and FIFA 21's next-gen versions, which are due out for both PS5 and Xbox Series X in addition to current-gen platforms.

The video that premiered during EA Play was not an in-depth gameplay demonstration by any means. Instead, it consisted of brief snippets of gameplay from camera angles you would see during replays, rather than normal play. Still, it did highlight the impressive visuals these games will include, with an incredible level of detail on players' faces and some stunning sweat effects (always a highlight with sports games). We even got a brief shot of Tom Brady in his new Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey, albeit only from behind.

EA Play: Fe Dev's Next Game, Lost In Random, Gets First Trailer

During EA Play Live, Electronic Arts gave us a look at some of the titles it has in the pipeline for this year and beyond. EA took some time to spotlight a trio of indie-developed games coming under its EA Originals banner, including the next project from Fe developer Zoink, Lost in Random.

Originally announced back in 2019, Lost in Random is a third-person action-adventure game with puzzle elements. Zoink describes the title as a coming-of-age story set against a gothic backdrop. Players take control of a young girl who "embarks on a dangerous journey through the world of Random," where she meets a walking dice companion known as Dicey.

Following a brief overview from Zoink, EA showcased the first trailer for Lost in Random, giving us a look at the whimsical, Nightmare Before Christmas-esque visual style. The trailer also set the tone for the dark, fantastical adventure that awaits:

Rocket Arena Is Overwatch Meets Smash Bros., With Rockets

3 years 10 months ago

The multiplayer shooter Rocket Arena has been picked up by EA, and it was shown as part of the EA Play presentation on June 18. Developed by Final Strike Games, Rocket Arena was featured as an EA Original, the publisher's program highlighting independent projects it's partnered with for publishing.

The trailer showed off the game's cartoon art style along with a variety of characters and stylized environments, like an Aztec pyramid and train tracks. Each character has their own signature abilities and rocket types similar to hero shooters like Overwatch, and competitive matches are 3v3. But rather than deal conventional damage, Rocket Arena uses a Smash Bros.-style ring-out mechanic. Your goal is to wallop your opponent hard enough that they go flying off the battlefield.

At launch, the game will have 10 playable characters and 100 levels of progression, with hundreds of cosmetics and 10 maps. You can play in 4 PvP modes (Knockout, Rocketball, Treasure Hunt, and Megarocket) and one cooperative mode (RocketBot Attack). It's also built as a live game, with more content incoming, along with daily and weekly challenges. It will use in-game currency called Rocket Fuel to purchase season passes, called the Blast Pass.

Apex Legends Event Lost Treasures Adds Crypto Town Takeover

3 years 10 months ago

During EA Play, Respawn released a new trailer for the next limited-time event in Apex Legends. This time around, the event is themed around Crypto, the legend added to the game in Season 3: Meltdown. The new trailer is embedded below.

Called Lost Treasures, the new event introduces a Crypto-themed town takeover (called Map Room) to the top-left section of Kings Canyon. Like most previous town takeovers, the new landmark features aspects of a legend's passive, tactical, or ultimate ability--in this case, Crypto's. Journeying to the Map Room will allow you to ping a holographic map that will let you know how many squads are in your immediate vicinity and will reveal the current location of all squads on Kings Canyon. It's basically Crypto's passive ability but amplified across the entire map.

Lost Treasures is a collection event, which means tons of new rare, epic, and legendary cosmetics to buy with in-game currency and a new heirloom to unlock. The trailer showcases that Mirage is getting an heirloom this time around too. The holographic trickster got a fairly substantial rework at the start of Season 5: Fortune's Favor, which has greatly increased the character's utility as an offensive threat and popularity as a pick.

Xbox Streaming Service xCloud Will Switch To Series X Server Blades In 2021, Report Says

3 years 10 months ago

The Xbox game-streaming service, xCloud, is preparing to launch later this year for everyone, and now we've learned a little bit more about it. The Verge is reporting that the service will use Xbox One S consoles to power the platform at launch before switching to Series X blades in 2021.

The site reported that Microsoft has already begun testing xCloud with Series X consoles as the server blades. This is a big deal because the Series X is the most powerful console Microsoft has ever made, so using the upgraded hardware as server blades should improve game performance. You will also need a good internet connection for the optimal experience.

Additionally, experiments are said to be underway for PC server blades to stream PC games through xCloud--this seemingly suggests that xCloud might be coming to PC as well.

As part of Play For All, GameSpot recently got the chance to sit down with Baldur's Gate III creative director Swen Vincke, who said he and his team haven't even tried to run the game on current-gen consoles. Although he didn't rule out ports to consoles in the future, specifically next-gen ones, Vincke says the studio is just focused on PC and Stadia right now.

"Our focus right now is PC and Stadia," Vincke stated. "We're going to first focus very hard on getting those two to work, and then we'll see what happens." You can watch the full interview above.

You'll need an active Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass Ultimate subscription to take advantage of the Free Play Days offerings, but it's worth noting the Xbox Store offers free trials every weekend. TwitchCon San Diego 2020 Canceled Due To Coronavirus Concerns

3 years 10 months ago

Another event has been canceled amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and its associated social distancing measures. TwitchCon San Diego, which was scheduled to take place from September 25-27 at the San Diego Convention Center, is no longer happening.

"Due to restrictions on large gatherings and ongoing concerns for the health and safety of our community, the Twitch team, and the local San Diego community, we have decided to cancel TwitchCon San Diego this fall," the event organizer wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. "While we can't gather in person, we're exploring ways that we could join forces in an alternate dimension later this year. We'll keep you posted."

It's unclear what "another dimension" means, but it seems the organizers behind TwitchCon are considering some sort of digital/virtual event for later in the year.

Xbox Game Pass Adds A Fun New Game Today, West Of Dead

3 years 10 months ago

West of Dead, a western twin-stick shooter, is out today on Game Pass for Xbox One and PC. The game follows a stranger as they attempt to free Purgatory from mysterious forces so the dead may pass on. With a stylish isometric view, the run based game combines twin-stick controls with cover-based shooting mechanics.

The game is an amalgamation of every idea developer Upstream Arcade wanted to pursue. In a post on Xbox Wire Adam Langridge, co-founder and developer of Upstream Arcade said that the game was a pursuit of fitting as many ideas in as he and co-founder Imkan Kayati could.

Langridge said he wanted to make a new kind of cover shooter, but also loved twin-stick shooters and permadeath games and procedural generation. Kayati said he loved westerns and horror games. Both said they wanted to make a game with a comic book art style and explore themes of fear and light.

Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access Content Will Be Bigger Than Divinity: Original Sin 2's Initial Release

3 years 10 months ago

Baldur's Gate III is launching in early access in August (hopefully), and developer Larian Studios has spoken before about how it will include most of the game's first act. This act, however, will be larger than the equivalent early access launch for Divinity: Original Sin 2, according to creative director Swen Vincke.

Speaking to GameSpot as part of Play For All, Vincke said he didn't have an exact number to share, but that players can expect to "be busy" when it launches. "That's early access--the actual complete game is going to be much bigger than that," Vincke continued. You can watch the full interview below.

Vincke also explained that the first act will have a lot of what Larian Studios hopes to have locked for the game's eventual release, but that some content that you'll be able to play could still be cut as development continues. You'll be restricted to a certain level cap during early access, but Vincke says the exact number is still being decided on.

EA Adds More Games To Steam, Including Titanfall 2 And Dead Space 3

3 years 10 months ago

More Electronic Arts titles have popped up on Steam today, joining a bunch of games the publisher has recently released on Valve's digital storefront. The Sims 4 and all its expansion content, Dead Space 3, A Way Out, and Titanfall 2 are new to the PC platform, following a host of games that have popped up on Steam recently.

The releases come just ahead of EA Play 2020, the virtual version of the publisher's yearly E3 fan event that takes place later today. Not all of the publisher's games are available on Steam just yet, as Apex Legends, for instance, remains Origin-only on PC.

To mark the release of the new games, they're all on sale, as is their DLC (of which there is a ton for Sims 4). These range from 30% to 75% off.

Bungie Confirms Hawkmoon Will Return To Destiny 2 In Beyond Light

3 years 10 months ago

Bungie shared a few looks at what's coming to Destiny 2 in the Beyond Light expansion on a charity livestream, confirming that the Destiny 1 Exotic hand cannon Hawkmoon will return to the game this fall. Hawkmoon was a fan favorite weapon, and it'll get some slight tweaks when it makes its way to Destiny 2.

Director Luke Smith announced the return of Hawkmoon on Bungie's charity Twitch stream to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. As of this writing, the stream has garnered more than $600,000 in donations. Bungie offered several "stretch goals" to encourage fans to donate, with Smith making the Hawkmoon announcement at the $500,000 mark.

In Destiny 1, Hawkmoon carried a perk called "Luck in the Chamber," which caused one random bullet in the gun's magazine to do significantly more damage than all the others. Some other guns had the Luck in the Chamber perk to get one bullet with bonus damage, but the thing that set Hawkmoon apart was that it carried three, which could make it extremely powerful if you got a lucky few shots in a row.

Destiny 2 Patch Notes: Trials Of Osiris Fixed And Returns Tomorrow

3 years 10 months ago

Bungie has released a new patch for Destiny 2, and among other things, it fixes a bug that recently forced it to take Trials of Osiris offline on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One. Update 2.9.01 is now available on all platforms, and it will allow Trials to resume on June 19. The full patch notes for the new update can be seen below.

Trials of Osiris was taken down last week due to a bug that prevented players from celebrating their flawless "Trials Passages." Upon winning seven matches and incurring no losses during the competitive mode, players are granted access to a special social space called the Lighthouse, where you are given some of the best rewards in Destiny 2. A bug barred access to the exclusive spot, which prompted Bungie to pull the mode. Following the implementation of Update 2.9.01, however, Trials of Osiris has been fixed and will be available for players to jump back into starting this weekend.

The patch also makes several other adjustments to Destiny 2, including controlling mapping problems that interrupted sprinting, addressing Beaver error codes, tweaking some issues with Finishers, and more.
