The latest special event for Cyberpunk 2077 revealed details and updates about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a new Expansion Pack, and many more. Is Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk 2077 “Phantom Liberty”?

According to the Night City Wire: Edgerunners Special, Keanu Reeves is returning as Johnny Silverhand in the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty. During this event, the actor states, “It’s awesome to be back playing the role of Johnny, and I hope you’re excited to see him rock it out once more in the Dark Future.”

Although there isn’t much information about this DLC, we did get a teaser trailer that showed us a few glimpses of this latest expansion, where you can hear the voices of the notable characters V and Johnny.

I wasn't entirely convinced by MultiVersus when it leaked. We've seen countless platform fighters challenge Super Smash Bros across the decades, usually falling flat. Even Sony's own attempt with PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale was middling, so I didn't particularly rate a Warner Bros crossover's chances. I'll gladly admit those initial impressions were wrong. Even as a free-to-play game, that carries the usual monetisation pitfalls, MultiVersus sets itself apart where it matters.

You can attribute some of that to the unusual MultiVersus character roster, which isn't especially cohesive. Packing 18 fighters with more planned, they all fall under Warner Bros. Discovery's licensing, but mixing Game of Thrones characters with Bugs Bunny just feels strange, no matter how you slice it. That said, I never questioned it once I started playing - everyone's been well adapted. That's helped by voice actors reprising their roles, with Kevin Conroy and Matthew Lillard returning for Batman and Shaggy respectively as major highlights. It's a shame MultiVersus doesn't give each franchise a specific arena to complement its cast, though you'll spot familiar sights like the Bat Cave.

It's worth studying each character beforehand, since MultiVersus groups them between five classes. We've got the heavy-hitting bruisers, agile assassins, defensively-minded tank class, ranged mages, and support classes who're better at buffs than damage. I appreciate this variety and the game prioritises 2v2 team fights as its main way to play, those support classes in particular helping MultiVersus to lean into this co-op emphasis well. (There's also 1v1 fights and 4-player free for all's but, annoyingly, no local co-op, which is a shame.)

Corecell has hit back at publisher PQube, disputing its defence over withheld funds.

Last week, PQube was under fire once again from a developer (Corecell) releasing a damning statement against the publisher. It followed earlier accusations from Coffee Talk developer Toge Productions that left the team "feeling manipulated and exploited".

With regards to its game AeternoBlade 2, Corecell claimed that PQube "only paid a small part of the minimum guarantee of the signing milestone by the time we sent them the game and they never paid the remaining milestones", among other issues over publishing control.

Gloomwood came alive for me when I got outside. This is immersive-sim-ish territory, everything tilted towards horror and stealth. Navigating the lovingly rendered PS1 era visuals, which do help a great deal to make ordinary objects singular and creepy, I awake at the bottom of a pit with nothing but a mysterious ally, taunting me through a nearby grate before offering me a magic ring. The ring allows me to tell when I'm hidden in shadow, and once it's on my hand and the grate has been opened, I start to realise how useful it's going to be.

My ally is nowhere to be seen. Instead I'm in small squirrely rooms, keeping out of the path of patrolling guards, lurking in the dark, moving from one safe spot to the next. I need to get out, which might mean finding the objects needed to call a kind of grain elevator, and may mean busting my swordstick out of a nearby lockup. Gloomwood's linear but roomy: like I say, immersive-sim territory. I always know where I want to go, but my path there has a bit of leeway to it.

Combat I quickly discover, even with the swordstick, is a bad idea. Take guards on and they'll slice your health away and slow you down. So much better to crouch, go slowly, considering the surfaces you're moving across, using the leaning buttons to check around blind corners, using patience, sweet patience, to learn the patrol routes and then go for the one-hit backstab.

Following a small delay, Gremlins hero Gizmo will soon be making his debut in Warner Bros.' Smash-like brawler, MultiVersus.

In anticipation of his arrival, the team has shared more about Gizmo's moveset and confirmed that he will be a support character, much like the likes of Scooby-Doo's Velma.

The small card shared on the MultiVersus Twitter feed states that Gizmo will have a move called "Gizmo-A-Go-Go". This will see Gizmo attaching himself onto the back of his allies. He will also be able to "sing and spawn musical note projectiles" that will damage nearby enemies thanks to a move called Song of the Mogwai.

A new noise suppression feature is available now on Xbox Series X/S to remove unwanted noises in voice chat.

That includes the clicking of gamepad buttons, unnecessary background noise, and yes, the sound of your breathing.

Following on from the Cha-Cha bundle introduced at the end of last month, a new bundle for Call of Duty Vanguard and Warzone now brings even more from Netflix's The Umbrella Academy to the fray.

This bundle, known as the Hazel Bundle, will allow players to "suit up" as Umbrella Acadamy's other time travelling assassin Hazel (the clue was in the name there), thanks to the new legendary operative skin. It comes with the pink dog head and all, and is available now.

"Everything happens like it's supposed to... including your enemies getting eliminated," reads the teaser for this latest Call of Duty collaboration, which you can see for yourself below.

A system update for the PlayStation 5 is now live, adding in a number of new features previously available in beta.

That includes gamelists, essentially folders, to make organising your game collection more manageable. Players can have up to 15 lists, with 100 games per list.

1440p HDMI video output is also available for those with compatible TVs or monitors.

A new combat-oriented event is nigh. The Genshin Impact Fayz Trials kick off in-game from September 8, 2022 until September 26th. As with other limited-time events in the game, players stand a chance to earn Primogems, materials for character and weapon improvements, and Mora. What's new to the rotation this time, though, is taking dubious substances.

To enter the event, players will need to be above Adventurer Rank 20, and have completed the Archon Quest Prologue Act III.

According to HoYoVerse, the Genshin Impact Fayz Trials involve testing out a series of experimental potions from Jami, a Sumeru academic. Players will then enter the Fayz Trial facility and defeat enemies to earn "Fayz Tinctures" (a tincture is a form of dissolved medicine, usually drunk orally). Store up enough Fayz Tinctures and you'll charge up the Fayz Potion special ability. Triggering it expands the Traveler's mind, improving their situational awareness to the point time itself seems to stop. From there, they can zoom in and out with a camera-like viewfinder, capturing enemy "weaknesses" in their vision. Accumulating enough weaknesses activates "Supersense", a powerful skill that has a buff effect that varies depending on the challenge. Effects range from massive damage-dealing elemental effects to more subtle buffs that improve combat performance. The Fayz Trials also unlock various Trial Characters, allowing players to use or try out characters they don't yet own.

The Pokémon Company and Nintendo have released a new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, which hits Switch on Nov. 18. 

After releasing a trailer focused on the competitive play of these upcoming pocket monster games, The Pokémon Company is showing off the wonders of the Paldea region and the treasures that await. The video also features a look at some of the rebellious classmates in the game as well as some of its gym leaders.

This team seems to be categorized by type because as the trailer progresses, we meet Mela, the boss of "Team Star's Fire Crew." Presumably, there's at least a Water Crew and a Grass Crew as well. 

PlayStation told players in 2020 that it could add 1440p support for game resolution output to PlayStation 5 “if requested enough.” It seems that happened because it’s now available in a new update. 

With the launch of today’s new global PS5 system software update, not only is 1440p resolution available for applicable TVs and monitors, but Gamelists and other anticipated social features are too. There’s also a new audio comparison option to listen to the difference between stereo output and 3D audio in headsets and a new YouTube voice command preview. 

“The update includes several highly-requested features like 1440p HDMI video output and gamelists, as well as social features like the ability to request a Share Screen from a fellow party member, easily view new friends’ profiles, and receive a notification to help you join a friend’s game more quickly from a party chat,” platform experience senior vice president Hideaki Nishino writes in a new PlayStation blog post. “Additionally, you can now compare 3D audio and stereo audio on the same screen and more easily access in-progress Activities from game hubs.”

Out of the many genres in gaming, the tower defense genre may not strike you as one of the most popular, but the truth is, it’s a surprisingly crowd-pleasing form of gameplay that’s easy to pick-up-and-play and satiates our ol’ lizard brains as we lay waste to waves upon waves of pesky enemies. While it may be deemed a little “casual” for hardcore gamers (whatever that actually means), the tower defense genre is here to stay. Case in point: an unlikely action-centric tower defense hybrid is making waves on Steam right now.

The specific title in question is Orcs Must Die! 3, which has seen a massive spike in concurrent players today, according to SteamCharts. Not only has the game received a huge increase of around 407.1 percent over the last 24 hours, but the current number of players is an impressive 1,754. Not too shabby for a game that released on PC last year with little to no fanfare.

Warner Bros. upcoming ARPG Gotham Knights is one of the most anticipated games of the year for superhero fans, and while the action is a huge part of its appeal, so too is the dynamic between its main characters. Today, a new trailer from the publisher gives us a behind-the-scenes look at Batman’s family, detailing the inspirations behind Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin.

If you’re not up to speed with Gotham Knights, the game is set to take place after Batman is killed in action leaving his four proteges Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood to protect the city in his absence.

This latest trailer explores the comic book inspiration behind the Batman Family characters in Gotham Knights and how Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin have been reimagined in this game to deliver realistic combat and a unique story experience. As of Patch 1.6, Cross-Progression saving is available to all players of Cyberpunk 2077. Simply put, enabling Cross-Progression within Cyberpunk 2077 will upload your most recent saves to the cloud, which makes transferring them across multiple systems as easy as possible.

Actually using the Cross-Progression saves is as simple as booting up the game. As long as you’re logged into your account on both devices and the game is updated to the latest patch, your newest saves will be available to play. You can check to make sure Cross-Progression is enabled from both the main menu and the load screen, and it works between all console and PC versions.

One notable caveat players should keep in mind, however, is that Cross-Progression only provides one save for each type. This means that the cloud will only store your most recent quick-save, your most recent manual-save, and your most recent auto-save for resuming on a different system.

Epic Games has today rolled out Fortnite’s update 21.51 on all platforms, which primarily adds the ‘Fire with Fire’ week to the Battle Royale title. It also makes changes to the purchase, cancellation and social settings of the game.

The Fire with Fire week, as detailed in the official Fortnite blog post, will start on Sept. 7 at 9am ET, and will finish on Sept. 13, at 9am ET.

This ‘wild week’ as their known in-game, will unvault the Primal Flame Bow and Dragon’s Breath Shotgun in non-competitive playlists. Firefly Jars will be available at an increased rate, as will Chug Cannons to help you fend off the damage from the flames. A series of special quests for using all four of these weapons/ items will reward players with XP for completing, too.

Alongside the Fire with Fire week, update 21.51 also makes some smaller changes to the purchase, cancellation and social settings in-game, too. For example, players will now have to hold a button to confirm any in-game purchases.

The purchase cancellation window is also being extended. Players will now be able to cancel in-game cosmetic purchases made with V-Bucks until the cosmetic is equipped, or until 24 hours have passed, whichever comes first.

Payment information now has the option to be saved, and a chargeback policy has been updated.

Indie developers Corecell have responded to UK-based publisher PQube with another statement this time critiquing PQube’s contention that they tried to return the console rights to action puzzler AeternoBlade 2. Corecell came forward last week with the second accusation made by an indie team against PQube in less than a month, following A Space For The Unbound devs Mojiken Studio’s claims in late August. Both studios claim PQube withheld money from them.

What sounds like the entire Assassin’s Creed line-up for Saturday’s Ubisoft Forward presentation may have been leaked online. Unnamed sources have supposedly told TryHardGuides that three new AC games will be announced during the event, with an instalment set in feudal Japan being among them. Bloomberg backs up the report, stating that the other games purported to be in development include one set in the 16th century that could be dealing with witches, and a mobile game set in China.

Studio Wildrose and Matsuzo Machida have released some new information on the story and characters of Penny Blood. This is the game that is part of the Double Kickstarter with Armed Fantasia. The majority of the staff on Penny Blood are ones who worked on the Shadow Hearts series. Penny Blood will be a dark and tragic gothic horror JRPG set in the 1920s. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

While Penny Blood will not be a continuation or a spin-off of the Shadow Hearts series, it takes quite a few cues from it in its story and characters. According to an interview with designer and writer Machida, Penny Blood takes place in the 1920s because Shadow Hearts skipped over it. Koudelka’s setting was the late 1890s, while the first two Shadow Hearts games were from 1913 to 1915. Shadow Hearts 3 skips to around 1929, fitting Penny Blood between Covenant and From the New World.

Despite all of marketing around Penny Blood’s gothic horror influences, there will be comedic elements. It will have a similar balance to Shadow Hearts Covenant. The story was serious, but there were comedic characters and side quests.

A new plush modeled after Waddle Dee from the Kirby series will appear with a USB-connected warmer in Japan. Bandai Spirits has opened pre-orders for the plush on the Japanese Premium Bandai web store. The item will be available at 5,480 yen (~$38). The price tag includes tax but excludes shipping and handling fees. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

The plush will have a size of around 33cm (~13 inches), and the USB cable will be around 1.8m (~71 inches) long. About 30 seconds after connecting the USB cable, the polyester plush will start to generate heat, reaching a temperature of around 42-46°C (107.6-114.8°F) which will give comfort to the user. The plush's internal system will keep it warm after a full charge and the USB charger is disconnected for around an hour.

Waddle Dee will join Kirby, who previously received a similar plush. Bandai Spirits released a USB warmer plush featuring the eponymous series protagonist in November 2020. Its initial stock sold out within a few hours. The company restocked Kirby's plush at least twice in December 2020 and February 2021. It also announced that it had sold over 30,000 units of all plushes in the same series.

The Waddle Dee plush with USB warmer will release in Japan in December 2022. Bandai Spirits will close pre-orders for the item on December 11, 2022.

A new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet details more of what we can expect to find in its open world.

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has said he once pitched a Hitman movie, but it never saw the light of day.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Gunn revealed he made the pitch for a film focused on IO Interactive's bald and ever adaptable assassin just "weeks" before he got the Guardians of the Galaxy gig.

"The studio really wanted to hire me, but a producer on the project did not," he recalled.

We get the announcement of the localization of Void Terrarium 2, which has you take care of the young Toriko again in her terrarium.

It’ll come west in spring 2023 for PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

Process of Elimination

Another localization announcement comes for Nippon Ichi Software’s Tantei Bokumetsu, which will come west in early 2023 for PS4, and Nintendo Switch with the title “Process of Elimination.”

See How They Run is a self-aware whodunnit comedy that reflects on the tropes that are typical of the mystery genre. The film stars Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan as two police officers in 1950s London who are thrust into a mystery while investigating the death of an American filmmaker. The American in question was trying to adapt one of Agatha Christie’s most famous works, a play by the name of The Mousetrap, into a film, something that is seemingly at the root of the killer’s motives in the film. But is it actually? You’ll have to see the movie for yourself to find that out.

Upfront, I’ll say that I have mostly positive feelings about the movie, with only some slight critiques. On the one hand, the film is incredibly self-aware, and there were multiple moments that I found genuinely funny and charming. Then on the other hand, the way that the film’s story is told leaves a tiny bit to be desired.

Let’s start with the positives of See How They Run. First of all, the dynamic between our two leads is incredible, as they play off of each other exceptionally well, making the two characters immensely likable. Rockwell’s character is a play on iconic detectives like C. Auguste Dupin and Christie’s own Hercule Poirot, with an exciting twist making the character feel different and fresh from other detective leads.
