Netflix has released a new trailer for the upcoming second season of The Witcher and as you might expect following the end of the first season, it teases the coming war.
That war will see Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia aka The Witcher, Freya Allan’s Ciri, Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer, and more weaving their way through it, too, all while fighting monsters and magic, of course. As the trailer notes, “something has changed” and the world is acting strange – there’s a war, monsters roam freely when they should be hibernating, and for everyone that isn’t Geralt, it seems like the end of days. For Geralt, though, it’s just “horses**t,” as he’s already lived through “three supposed end of days.”
Click here to watch embedded mediaIf one thing is clear from the trailer, it’s that there is a war coming, and as Geralt points out in it, it’s because The Continent belongs to nobody (despite basically everybody trying to make it theirs.) Monster by Kanye West featuring Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, and Bon Iver plays over the entire thing, too, and now we want to hear Jaskier's rendition of the song.
343 Industries has revealed in a new Inside Infinite blog post that it relied on character and enemy designs from the Halo 3/Halo: Reach era of the franchise for inspiration.
Microsoft and 343 Industries have been pretty open about their desire for Infinite to harken back to the days of classic Halo. It’s set on a single Halo ring – Zeta Halo – much in the same way Halo: Combat Evolved was set on a ring, and the designs retain the more streamlined look of Bungie’s Halo games. Now, we know it’s because Halo 3 and Halo: Reach were the inspiration.

Amidst all the excitement of Intel’s 12th Gen Alder Lake CPUs, let’s not forget that the first Intel dedicated graphics cards are on their way. Codenamed Arc Alchemist, these GPUs will launch alongside XeSS (Xe Super Sampling), an Nvidia DLSS-style upscaling/anti-aliasing piece of tech that promises to boost performance while sharpening up those jagged edges. And we now know the first two games that will support XeSS: Hitman 3 and The Riftbreaker.
Last Halloween, Alice Bee visited Ghost Town's 999th Annual Pumpkin Festival, carving a pumpkin of her own to place amongst the spooky virtual showcase. It was a lovely little indie game from Adam "Adamgryu" Robinson-Yu, creator of the much-adored A Short Hike. Well, Halloween is upon us again, and Mayor Bones has returned with another gourd-o-rama, putting servers back online and inviting us to contribute new pumpkins. It's still lovely.

Bandai Namco has announced a new Tekken 7 Legendary Edition - but there's a catch.
While this new boxed version of the 3D fighting game, which appears to be Europe-only, includes all 36 characters available in the base version of Tekken 7, it only includes eight of the 15 DLC characters.
Toss a coin to your Witcher-song-singing friends. Netflix released the first official trailer for The Witcher’s second season, which debuts on December 17. No other way to put this: It looks bonkers. It also kinda muddies the suspenseful setup from the end of the first season.

Knockout City, EA’s wacky multiplayer dodgeball game, ranks among 2021’s most pleasant surprises. The game is a riot and will join November’s batch of PlayStation Plus games after already appearing on Xbox Game Pass. If you’ve enjoyed lobbing exploding balls into the faces of friends or strangers on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S, your matches are about to look and feel even better.
On November 2, new-gen enhancements will hit the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Knockout City free of charge. Players who obtained the game through Game Pass or PS Plus are eligible for the upgrade as well. What are you getting? Here’s the full breakdown below:
Options for Performance and Quality modes will appear in the main menu. Developer Velen Studios has also improved Knockout City’s overall lighting and added effects such as ball lights. High-fidelity textures arrive across the board after only being present in the Series X and PC versions of the game, too. You can read more about the enhancements at the Knockout City website.
When Microsoft and 343 Industries revealed the first-ever Halo Infinite campaign gameplay last year, it was met with a lot of criticism, and Craig the Brute was at the center of it all.
Craig, at the time, was just a standard brute. The poor guy showed up to work that day thinking he'd just be standing around, guarding an outpost, just like every day before. Craig was earning money to put food on the table for his family, and then one fateful day, Spartan 117, aka Master Chief, came knocking, and the brute had to get absolutely wrecked by him. As if that's not a tough enough workday, Craig became the central point of criticism regarding that gameplay showcase: people thought he didn't look great.
Well, look who's laughing now: Glow-Up of the Year winner Craig the Brute.
Ever since I witnessed a little red-and-blue plumber-man tumble into the gnashing jaws of a Piranha Plant, I knew vegetables weren’t to be trusted. I see my suspicion of all things green and floral as a natural, even instinctual thing. We ourselves aren’t vegetable, and differences so often motivate our deepest fears. The vegetal realm is entirely inaccessible to us, its behaviour strange and habitats dark. From the carnivorous Venus flytrap to the bleeding tooth fungus, from plants that smell like rotting corpses to one's that trap prey and dissolve them with digestive fluids, it’s an unknown, often dangerous world, and one that overlaps closely with our own. And it makes for a compelling game.
Want to know how to convince the Worldmind in Guardians Of The Galaxy? The adventure to save the galaxy doesn’t just involve shooting Chitauri and cracking jokes. Throughout Guardians Of The Galaxy, you engage in conversations with various characters, in which you can make decisions that will alter the course of the game. Most of these have small, fairly insignificant consequences. However, the conversation with the Worldmind in Chapter 9 could help you get some crucial help in a difficult fight later in the game.
This guide will show you the correct choices to make to convince the Worldmind that Raker can be defeated in Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Steam user genre tags can be awful. Cyberpunk 2077 was, for example, tagged ‘masterpiece’ for months before the first gameplay trailer, while the much more reasonable and catchy ‘looks cool sure but too early to say anything definitive if we’re being adults about it’ tag was strangely absent. Happily, they are sometimes wonderful, like the tag alongside ‘comedy’ and ‘indie’ that categorises avian arsehole adventure Untitled Goose Game as having a ‘villain protagonist’.
I’ve been thinking about villain protagonists a fair amount this week because GOG just graced our collective thinking tellies with 1996 Zelda-like Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, in all its richly overwrought, gothic, inimitably voice-acted splendour. I would estimate this news finds you, reader, in one of two categories: those who give not a fig, and those who give so many figs they are currently scrabbling the world’s few remaining fig-bearing trees, searching vainly for an adequate quantity of figs.
Krafton, the South Korean company behind Plunkbat and Tera, today announced that they're buying Unknown Worlds, the studio splendid subaquatic survival sim series Subnautica and the fantastic FPS-RTS hybrid Natural Selection. Huh! The professed plan is for them to keep on as usual, still working on the Subnauticae as well as a mystery game debuting next year.
This time, I've returned from a trip to Devon having spent too much time ignoring my friends and playing Hollow Knight instead. But what about FPSes? Well, I didn't play any of those. Thankfully Imogen has all of us covered on this week's episode of the Ultimate Audio Bang, with a news segment rammed with lots of exciting announcements. Namely, Apex Legends gets a new Legend and map, Halo Infinite sees a new trailer, and Call Of Duty's new anti-cheat Ricochet leaks early.
Want to know how long it takes to beat Guardians Of The Galaxy? This planet-hopping adventure takes you on the cosmic ride of your life in an original Guardians Of The Galaxy story, involving plenty of punching, shooting, and generally jumping around with jet boots. Throughout the adventure, you'll come across many classic characters, such as Cosmo the spacedog, Adam Warlock, Mantis, Fin Fang Foom, and Lady Hellbender. However, since it isn't based directly on a certain comic storyline or movie, it can be hard to judge how long you'll actually spend playing Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy.
This guide will break down how long it takes to beat Guardians Of The Galaxy, including a list of chapters so that you can figure out how far you are through the adventure.
Remember Amy Hennig's big AAA, story-driven project with Skydance Media announced back in 2019? Good news: it's a Marvel game.
Skydance announced the collaboration with Marvel Entertainment today, though it's not ready to reveal further details about which Marvel characters might be involved in their endeavor. All we know is that it is being marketed as a "narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game" and "a completely original story and take on the Marvel Universe."
“I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game,” said Hennig. “The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.”
Hennig's partnership with Skydance has been running for a few years now, working alongside EA veteran and executive producer Julian Beak to kick off a brand new interactive division for the company. Skydance has historically been a movie production company responsible for films such as the Mission: Impossible franchise, Star Trek, Top Gun: Maverick, and Terminator: Dark Fate. But it's also had one relatively successful video game launch with VR title The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners.
The developers of Halo Infinite have discussed their “love-hate relationship” with the Brute that started the Craig meme. While the subject of ridicule, the character model ultimately granted the team at 343 Industries more time to bring Halo Infinite up to a better level of quality.
“While it was fun to see the community gravitate towards Craig, he unfortunately represented some content and systems that were not ready for prime time in that demo,” said Steve Dyck, Character & Combat Director on Halo Infinite, in a new Halo Insider post. “The positive outcome of Craig was that he was one of the factors in gaining some more time to finish work and get Brutes to a place where the team is happy with them. This is one of the many positive examples of 343 working with and aligning with the Halo community around expectations. Players who look hard enough will still be able to find some evidence of Craig in Halo Infinite, his spirit lives on!”
'Craig' is the name given by the community to a Brute that featured in Halo Infinite's first campaign reveal, which was the subject of ridicule and blowback due to the quality of the graphics, among other things.
While discussing the character designs of Halo Infinite, Dyck also noted that the team is looking back to the Bungie Halo games to influence its art direction. “In terms of which part of the legacy we looked to for inspiration, we settled most around the Halo 3 / Halo: Reach timeframe,” he explained.
The long-awaited second season of Netflix's live-action Witcher series finally arrives on 17th December and the streaming service has served up a fresh tease of its various narrative threads, whirling white wigs and all, in a brand-new trailer.
A click on the video below will reward curious sorts with almost three minutes of footage from the upcoming season, with all majors players - that is to say, Geralt, Jennefer, Ciri, and Jaskier - getting in on the action. As ever though, there's not nearly enough Jaskier.

Update, 11/01/21: Roblox is finally online again after it went down for roughly three days this past weekend.
The company announced the news in a blog post released yesterday, and in it, it cites a 'subtle bug' as the cause for the outage. It didn't reveal too much about how this bug caused three days of downtime, but a post-mortem will be released once the company's internal analysis is complete.
"This was an especially difficult outage in that it involved a combination of several factors," the blog post reads. "A core system in our infrastructure became overwhelmed, prompted by a subtle bug in our backend service communications while under heavy load. This was not due to any peak in external traffic or any particular experience. Rather the failure was caused by the growth in the number of servers in our datacenter. The result was that most services at Roblox were unable to effectively communicate and deploy."
Roblox says the difficulty in diagnosing the bug is why recovery took longer "than any of us would have liked." Upon identifying the root cause of the bug, it was able to "resolve the issue through performance tuning, re-configuration, and scaling back of some load."
The game is now online again.

Alongside the trailer, Bandai Namco also included plenty of helpful information via a press release that describes the setting and story more in-depth:

Earlier today, the official Netflix YouTube channel released the official trailer for season two of The Witcher TV series. It has been about two years since season one was released on the streaming service and now the wait for the follow-up to the debut is just under two months away. This news is coming right after the announcement last month that season three is on the way as well.
At the beginning of the trailer, a shot from above shows Geralt wading through some shallow water thigh-high water. Then it cuts to a further shot and we can see a winged monster approaching the powerful witcher from a distance. We don’t get to see a close-up of the monster, but Geralt doesn’t look all that concerned by its presence.
As it cuts away from that first shot of The Witcher season two official trailer we see multiple shots of impressive set pieces like a scorched battlefield, a snow-covered courtyard, a treacherous ravine, and many more. All throughout these shots, Geralt is sharing a drink with and speaking to Nivellen.
When Nivellen brings up that people are talking about the end of days coming, Geralt reminds his friend that he has lived through three supposed end of days three times. Naturally, this means Geralt doesn’t buy the notion that the world is coming to an end.
As the trailer continues, there are a few shots of Ciri before her training with Geralt. There’s a shot that looks like it’s her first time putting her hands on a sword.
Near the end of the trailer, we see Geralt and Ciri taking on a giant enemy that resembles a Treant. This is likely a little while after Geralt has spent some time working with Ciri since it looks like she’s holding her own pretty well against the attacks of this large monster.
