Among Us Crosses Over With Minecraft, Final Fantasy, And More In Fan Video

3 years 7 months ago

Among Us may be two years old, but last September it truly had a chance to shine in the spotlight thanks to streamers and their visibility and the other adorable jelly bean game as seen in Fall Guys. With the popularity comes fan art, mods, and now a pretty stellar video made by one fan to blend Among Us with other major games in the community.

In our review, we talked about how these adorably weird jelly bean astronauts assume the role of the Imposter as they take on different forms to kill crewmates in an effort to be the last bean standing. In this video, those imposters are parading as icons from different games, and it's more than perfect.

From Yoshi's saga to taking an L Aerith style from Final Fantasy VII - even Overwatch kills, the below fan-made video recreates some of the more epic deaths in gaming in true Among Us style:

Three New Smash Bros. Amiibos Are Coming In 2021

3 years 7 months ago

Fire Emblem: Three Houses' Byleth (sadly, the male version only), Fatal Fury: King of Fighters' Terry Bogard, and Banjo & Kazooie are the latest Smash Bros. Amiibos to be added to the game's ever-growing roster. You'll have to wait to get your hands on them because the three Amiibos (amigos?) won't be available until 2021.

In other Smash Bros. news, Minecraft Steve was announced as the game's newest fighter last week. Apparently, all of the Smash Bros. stages had to be re-tweaked to support Steve's integration – keep in mind that there are over 100 arenas!

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster Is Coming To PS4, Xbox One, PC, And Nintendo Switch

3 years 7 months ago

It's the age of remasters and before we head all-in on next gen with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, this gen has another nostalgic play coming soon. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is announced and it's coming soon to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

The reveal comes after a few leaks earlier this year stating that the racing game was getting the remaster treatment, now it is confirmed with a brand new trailer seen below:

Click here to watch embedded media

The upcoming remaster is dropping on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 6 with a Nintendo Switch launch coming soon after on November 13.

Not everyone was thrilled in the video's comments, some calling the remaster not all that impressive when looking at the upgrades. Others were excited to see the tweaks made and are ready to get back onto the streets and burn it up once more.

The original game launched back in 2010 and now that it's back, players will be able to experience the tracks once more with cross-platform multiplayer and current-gen upgrades.

The remaster also comes with all of the previously released DLC in addition to an overhauled photo mode and quite a few new achievements to unlock.

Cyberpunk 2077's full Night City map has been leaked

3 years 7 months ago

One of the best things about buying physical games is getting to unfurl great big maps of their worlds that come tucked away in their boxes. I’m pretty sure I still have ones for Skyrim and GTA 5 hanging around somewhere, and soon it seems I’ll be able to add one of Cyberpunk 2077‘s Night City to my collection (well, I mean, maybe not if I buy it digitally on PC). The game’s full map has been leaked online, giving us a broad overview of all the different districts we’ll get to explore.

Minecraft Dungeons is getting 20 new difficulties and cross-play

3 years 7 months ago

Minecon isn't happening live in Orlando, Florida this year, but it did happen this past week in livestream form. In addition to revealing a bunch of new developments for Minecraft proper, our old dungeon crawler friend Minecraft Dungeons got a few updates: several of which should help people get back into the game if they're on a break.

First up, cross-play is finally coming in November. While it's been teased for some time since it released this past May, we finally have a window for when it'll be arriving. When it does hit, it'll be free for everyone. The feature was dramatically shown off on the aforementioned stream, with the below image indicating players signified with red for Nintendo Switch, light blue for PC, dark blue for PS4, and green for Xbox One.

Following that, a December update will add "Apocalypses Plus" into the mix, which adds "20 new difficulties" as well as "new enchantments and items." In tandem with that free patch, you can also opt for the Howling Peaks DLC, which adds the Tempest Golem boss into the game as well as the icy mountainside biome. I still come back to this one from time to time, so a combo of DLC and free updates should help suck me in even further.

Here's a link to old Mario 1 maps so you can win at Super Mario Bros. 35

3 years 7 months ago

Having played Super Mario Bros. 35 quite a bit this past week, I was thankful that I had already grown up on the original Mario Bros.

Not only are you required to win on pure skill in Mario 35, but it also helps to understand the various nuances of the game's battle royale format; on top of the layout of the maps themselves. Which, mind, are modeled after the NES originals. That's where this particular site comes in handy.

Created by Rick N. Bruns, these maps not only showcase hidden power-ups (by displaying which blocks hold which items), but pipelines as well: so you can judge which path is more strategically sound in the heat of the moment. Do you need coins? Or perhaps a bit more time from clearing out enemies? The choice is much easier if you actually know where the beaten path leads.

Give the site a go if you're having issues finding clutch fire flowers!

Netflix already making plans for a third season of The Witcher

3 years 7 months ago

Though we are yet to receive the second season of Netflix hit TV series The Witcher, it seems that the streaming service is already preparing further seasons of sexy-slaying action for Geralt and chums.

The Witcher fansite Redanian Intelligence has noted a recent listing on the Writer's Guild of America West database, which suggests that a third season of the book and video game adaptation is on the cards, with a (very) tentative release window of 2020-2021. Showrunner Lauren Hissrich is also on board to continue her work on the smash hit series.

Fast cars, big bums and the secrets behind one of the best Need for Speed games yet

3 years 7 months ago

It's not so much a secret at this point, but at least we now have the finer details: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is coming later this year, with PC, PS4 and Xbox One getting the refreshed title on November 6th while it'll be coming to Nintendo Switch on November 13th. There's a visual overhaul, with 60fps being the target on PC, PS4 and Xbox One while the Switch is looking to hit 30fps, while they'll all benefit from cross-platform multiplayer (a key part of Hot Pursuit's make-up, seeing how it introduced the concept of asynchronous multiplayer to modern games with its Autolog feature).

There's more besides, with the DLC folded into the main campaign, while some subtle tweaks have been made to gameplay and the front-end has had an overhaul. Most importantly, though, the core driving feels as fresh as it ever has - those pendulous slides are intact, while Seacrest County looks better than ever before. It's also a homecoming of sorts for the series, marking the start of Criterion's second stint behind the wheel of the hugely popular series.

Having spent a few hours with Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, I chatted to Matt Webster, VP of Criterion Games, and Chris Roberts - one of the original team on Hot Pursuit who's now at Stellar Entertainment and is working as creative director on the remaster.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch next month

3 years 7 months ago

It's been an open secret for a while, but we finally have confirmation that Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is indeed coming out this year, with Xbox One, PC and PS4 versions coming on November 6th while a Nintendo Switch version follows shortly after on November 13th.

As with Burnout Paradise Remastered, it's a collaboration between Stellar Entertainment and original developer Criterion - the studio that's now back in charge of the Need for Speed series after its tenure at Ghost Games.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is shooting for 60fps on PC, PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, with the Switch version targeting 30fps, while all the DLC Hot Pursuit enjoyed is being woven into the main campaign. There are other slight tweaks here and there, while multiplayer - including the at-the-time groundbreaking Autolog - will be cross-platform (it's worth noting that your old times won't be ported across).

Nexus Mods has banned mods about US politics

3 years 7 months ago

The nuclear apocalypse in a Fallout 4 wallpaper.

Nexus Mods, a site hosting mods for squillions of PC games, have temporarily banned people from uploading mods related to socio-political issues of the USA. This came after a flurry of “provocative and troll mods” doing things like renaming Fallout 4‘s raiders to “Antifa”, “Trump Supporter”, or “BLM ‘Protester'”, some being uploaded with photographs of corpses.

“Most of these mods are being uploaded by cowards with sock puppet accounts deliberately to try and cause a stir,” the site’s admins say. So if people can’t behave, they’ll allow no US politics on the Nexus until the presidential election is well and truly settled.
