Wow, this is big news for UI/UX. PlayStation 5 will use the X button to confirm by default for ALL REGIONS including Japan, who previously used O to confirm for the past 26 years. Muscle memory frustration for the nearly 10M PS users in Japan coming up.https://t.co/Heo7XaWjsk
Minecraft is adding lush caves, archaeology, and axolotls
Mojang have announced the next big Minecraft content update, Caves & Cliffs, with a focus on improving holes and heights. They’re overhauling how it generates these geological features while adding new biomes, so we should expect some cavernous caves, watery caves with waterfalls and rivers running through, stalactites and stalactites, a lovely new ‘Lush Cave’ biome full of flora, and a spooky ‘Deep Dark’ biome with a nasty new enemy. The update is not due to launch until next summer, but Mojang showed a few bit of the newness in their Minecraft Live event over the weekend. Oh, and hell yeah it’s adding axolotls.
Best Interceptor loadout in Star Wars: Squadrons
The TIE Interceptor is the fastest and most agile ship in Star Wars: Squadrons, so it’s no surprise that most players have taken to learning this ship first. But very few players are picking the very best Interceptor loadout available to them. Below I’ll walk you through a startlingly powerful and dangerous Interceptor build and all its components, along with an explanation of how it can be used to consistently reach the top of the scoreboard in any match.

Update: The rumours were true, as EA have officially announced Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered will indeed be coming out on November 6th. Find out more below.
Next month will be the tenth birthday of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. Last month, a leak suggested the game might be getting a remaster. And today, Electronic Arts have a Need For Speed announcement planned. Coincidence? I think not. I definitely think not, actually, because it looks like this new announcement has been leaked early, too. Ahead of EA’s big reveal later today, a new rumour claims that Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is coming out on November 6th.

Sony Is Changing The Confirm And Cancel Buttons In Japan And Folks Aren't Happy
In the West, the X button has long been the PlayStation’s button to confirm selections, actions, and more. But, ever since the original PlayStation went on sale in Japan in 1994, there the circle button has been the action button. That is going to change.

First PlayStation 5 console hands-on reveals mysterious nut
Over the weekend, PlayStation 5 was confirmed to be real and not just a figment of our collective imaginations, as a handful of Japanese press and YouTubers went hands-on for the first time.
Three games were shown in action, including Sony's own Astro's Playroom which comes bundled in with the PS5 itself. 4Gamer, Dengeki Online and AV Watch also got to try Gearbox loot slasher Godfall and Square Enix platformer Balan Wonderworld.
But alongside the games, this was the first time anyone not working on the console or its software had actually gotten to use the PS5 itself. There was much discussion of its size, Tower of Orthanc-style shape, and of... a mysterious nut.

The Witcher Season 2’s First Look at Henry Cavill as Geralt Revealed by Netflix; New Armor Showcased
With the second season of The Witcher having resumed filming in August, Netflix has revealed the first look at Geralt from the upcoming episodes.
A couple of pictures were revealed on Netflix’s official Twitter account dedicated to the series.
Of course, Geralt is still played by Henry Cavill, but we can see new armor worn by the popular actor.
You can check it out below.
The new season of the popular TV show is estimated to come in 2021, but not much official information is available at the moment.
The first season can already be binged on Netflix, and you can take a look at Henry Cavill himself as he talks about using Geralt’s swords.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Has Come a Long Way From Bunny Day
It was not too long ago that the Animal Crossing community and subreddit were plagued with memes about a certain bunny rabbit and his insistence on flooding players with annoying colorful eggs. As the first proper celebratory event since the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Bunny Day certainly didn’t make a great impression. Fast forward to today, and it’s clear that Nintendo’s learned from Bunny Day, as collecting ingredients and new seasonal DIY recipes has never been more enjoyable.
Back when Bunny Day was a thing, not only was the furniture insanely ugly, collecting the materials required for those recipes was also ridiculously annoying. You couldn’t go fishing without getting like five water eggs in your inventory. You couldn’t shoot down gift balloons without getting flooded with sky eggs. It was excruciating.
The eggs were everywhere. They were relentless. And perhaps most annoyingly, Zipper wouldn’t shut up about how happy he was that you were collecting all those eggs to craft all the garish, egg-themed furniture so that he could reward you with an equally garish, and equally ugly-looking egg wand.
Since then, though, the events have improved considerably. While not exactly a standalone event by itself, the introduction of Pascal and pearls were a huge step up from the way Bunny Day was handled. Pascal’s recipes were obtained by turning in scallops, which you could only get if you were diving underwater. And those recipes could only be crafted if you had pearls which, again, could only be obtained underwater.

Ghost Of Tsushima Co-Op, Raids, And New Game Plus Arrives Next Week
Get ready to tag-team the glorious world of Ghost of Tsushima, because the Legends co-op mode update arrives next week. Legends was first announced back in August, but we haven't had a release date until now. Also on the way is the arrival of raids, a New Game Plus mode, and more.
As detailed in a new official PlayStation blog post, the way of the Samurai often relied upon brotherhood and standing with your fellow warrior. With the new Legends co-op update, players can do just that while living out that Samurai fantasy.
Click here to watch embedded mediaThe new co-op Legends update is a part of the free 1.1 patch that will drop on October 16. The video above details what players can look forward to when the new content arrives, in addition to the New Game Plus mode.
According to senior games designer Darren Bridges, "Ghost of Tsushima: Legends features two-player story missions and four-player survival missions, as well as a Raid that we’ll release in the weeks following launch. After you’ve downloaded version 1.1 of Ghost of Tsushima, you can visit the PlayStation Store from your PS4 to download a free unlock for Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, which will allow you to play. Keep in mind that an internet connection and an active PlayStation Plus subscription will be required to play with other players."
Cyberpunk 2077 Has Officially Gone Gold
Earlier today, CD Projekt Red revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 has finally gone gold. While this doesn't necessarily mean that the game is bug-free or fully optimized, it does signify that it is one step closer to being released on time. In the tweet's image, you can see Keanu Reeves' in-game doppler holding the coveted physical disk.

Netflix's The Witcher Season 2 Gives First Look At Geralt's New Armor

The official The Witcher account shared a gruff looking (hello) Geralt with a full-frontal look at the chest piece and then a coy over the shoulder look at the redesigned pauldrons:

Payday 3 Still In Active Development As Devs Move Over To Unreal Engine
Payday 3 was first confirmed back in 2016 but news since its reveal has been mum. Now Overkill has revealed that the game is still, in fact, in active development, only this time the third game is ditching Overkill's Diesel engine in favor of Unreal.
The news of the switch to Unreal Engine debuted on Twitter from the official Payday 2 account. While it doesn't explicitly say which iteration of Unreal Engine is being used, it's likely that Payday 3 could be brought to life with the stunning movie-esque Unreal Engine 5 that was revealed earlier this year.

Ghost of Tsushima Gets Online Co-op, New Game+ & More On October 16

Every Game Needs A Dedicated Pass-And-Play Mode
Every video game supports pass-and-play multiplayer. Just find a stopping point, hit pause, and hand the controller to a friend. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time’s pass-and-play is the same sort of thing, only the game’s got built-in prompts and per-player summaries at the end. I appreciate the hell out of that.

Ghost of Tsushima's wild free co-op mode and New Game+ are out in just a few weeks
We've seen it teased, and now it's a reality: Ghost of Tsushima's Legends DLC is coming on October 16.
When it hits the PS4 it'll be free, coupled with version 1.1, which also ushers in the long-awaited New Game+ mode. Sony says that the idea of Legends' co-op functionality went hand and hand with the motif of "warriors standing together, ready to fight as a team" from old samurai cinema. Legends will be playable in both "story mission" form for up to two players, as well as a four-player survival mode. Sony is also teasing a "raid" in the "weeks following launch," that's described as an "epic three-part adventure that will require excellent teamwork and communication."
Accessing the mode is as easy as talking to a new NPC: Gyozen the Storyteller. From there, you'll select a Legends-specific character and class up, just like a classic RPG. There's Samurai (sustained melee), Hunter (ranged), Ronin (support) and assassin (burst melee damage). Cosmetics are confirmed and are "all unlocked through gameplay without any microtransactions." New Game+ teases a new Ghost Flower item, which can be given to another new NPC for extra armor dyes and vanity gear exclusive to New Game+.
Honestly, Ghost felt complete as-is, but this is really taking the cake. A free raid? I'm so in. This is the sort of stuff that live-service games often fumble with: but as free DLC for a premium title, it feels like a welcome extra.

Inti Creates says that Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon sold 600,000 copies, with 'more than 50%' sold on Switch
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is pretty good! So is the sequel. But as it turns out, Inti Creates says that the first game sold pretty well too.
Speaking to Nintendo Everything, Inti Creates has confirmed that the game has sold "over 600,000 copies." Studio CEO Takuya Aizu explains that the boost is "in part powered by the release of [the sequel]." Aizu also states that "more than half of those sales" are from the Switch edition. Quite the feat given that it was also released on every other major platform.
Note that Curse of the Moon came out in mid-2018, so it has some long legs if it's just now reaching that milestone. While it was available on PC, 3DS, PS4, Vita and Xbox One in addition to the Switch, the sequel shored up some of those platforms, only appearing on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch.
It makes perfect sense that if there is more of a global saturation of Switch users in 2020, folks who picked up the second game on the platform would mosey on over to the original.

ShopTo is the latest retailer to state it will not be able to fulfill all launch day pre-orders for next-gen consoles
Online retailer ShopTo has contacted a segment of its PS5 and Xbox Series X/S pre-order customers to inform them that they will not receive their console of choice come launch day.
The retailer sent out the emails, (as seen by Eurogamer), to a selection of its customers in the last few days, explaining that the company had received its shipment allocation for the much sought-after hardware, with an allocation number lower than the total number of registered pre-orders.
"We have received the allocation details from Sony and, unfortunately, we regret to inform you that we will not be able to fulfil your pre-order on day one/release date," reads the email. "Sony may notify us of additional stock with extra allocation for day one and you have already reserved your place in the queue. Some customers may cancel their pre-orders and that may allow yours to be next in line." A day later, VGC reported that a similarly worded email had been received by some Xbox Series X/S pre-order customers.
ShopTo is not the only retailer to warn next-gen customers that their respective orders might not be filled for launch day, as retail giant Amazon has also contacted some shoppers with similar stock allocation issues, following the frenzied and chaotic pre-order process that took place for both platforms.

Star Wars: Squadrons review - a scrappy, compelling starfighter that excels in VR
If there's one thing I've learned over the last few days, it's this: being a pilot in the Star Wars universe is brutal. I have newfound sympathy for Porkins, the rebel pilot who briefly appeared in A New Hope, who must have entered his cockpit full of adrenaline and aspirations... only to have it all end with a stray laser. This is the reality of flying through the chaos of space battle, and Squadrons wants you to know it.
Made by Motive Studios, Star Wars Squadrons is really a game of two halves - in several senses of the word. Split into a ten-hour campaign and two main multiplayer modes, both sides somehow feel completely different despite sharing the same set of controls, with the story favouring immersion and the multiplayer providing more of the compelling star-fighting experience I was looking for. The latter is where Squadrons' gameplay truly comes into its own, and is only made better when experienced in the terrifying beauty of VR.
Before you get stuck into the multiplayer, however, you'll probably want to test your piloting skills in the game's campaign mode - which has its moments, but never quite reaches the same heights as the multiplayer.
In a historic move, PlayStation 5 swaps X and Circle button use in Japan
Sony has swapped the usage of the X and Circle buttons for the PlayStation 5 user interface in Japan, meaning X is now used to confirm settings, while Circle is used to cancel.
This is, of course, how PlayStation consoles and games have operated in the West for 25 years. But it's a big shift for Japan, where X has not historically been used to mean "accept", "X marks the spot", or "X to Jason". There, X typically means "cancel" or "quit", whereas the "O" of Circle means "OK".
The detail comes from Famitsu, one of several Japanese outlets to get more details on PlayStation 5 over the weekend, and which has now reported a further wrinkle.

Scarlet Nexus for PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, & PC Gets New Dev Diary Video Discussing the Game
Today Bandai Namco released a new video dedicated to its upcoming cross-generation action-JRPG Scarlet Nexus.
The video stars the game’s key developers as they discuss the game, focusing mostly of its themes. That includes the “red thread” that permeates its imagery and more.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, here’s how Bandai Namco describes Scarlet Nexus.
“In the far distant future, a psionic hormone has been discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changing the world as we know it.
As humanity enters this new era, deranged mutants known as Others begin to descend from the sky with a hunger for human brains. Impervious to conventional weapons, those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psychics, are our only chance to fight the onslaught from above and preserve humanity.
Since that fateful day psychics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force, humanity’s last line of defense.
