Lakeburg Legacies Revealed During PC Gaming Show

2 years 11 months ago

Today, during the PC Gaming Show, a trailer for the brand-new PC game, Lakeburg Legacies was revealed. As French developer, Ishtar Games, puts it, their new game is a mix between The Sims and Crusader Kings.

Lakeburg Legacies is essentially a mashup of management and social simulation games with the backdrop of a kingdom. Like other games in the genre, there will be resource management, but at the same time you’ll also be able to set up different members of your kingdom with one another in romantic relationships.

This game will use procedural generation to ensure that every time you start a new game, the townsfolk and scenarios will give you a completely different experience from your past runs.

The trailer also shows off the hand-drawn art style that not only applies to the characters and world map, but even the UI elements look like they were written up by hand.

Lakeburg Legacies is coming on PC via Steam in 2022 and you can add it to your wishlist today. You can check out the official reveal trailer for Lakeburg Legacies down below.

Something Is Amiss in New Hello Neighbor 2 Trailer

2 years 11 months ago

Hello Neighbor 2 has received another new trailer, and this one makes it clear that all is not right with the titular character from across the street.

Streamed during the E3 2021 PC Gaming Showcase livestream held on June 13, the trailer is a blend of cinematics and gameplay. Both elements show off the creepy and unsettling nature of the sequel, while also revealing the inherent danger the protagonist will face over the course of the game.

It starts with Hello Neighbor 2 protagonist Quentin driving along a dark and lonesome road. The few people he passes along the way are cops investigating a ramshackle house, and they shoot him a look that is a mix of indifferent and hostile. Before long, he arrives at the Neighbor’s house, and breaks in with a crowbar.

Not long after, he sees the Neighbor come up out of the basement covered in a black substance. He then follows him into the bathroom to obtain a wrench needed to advance further into the house. Quentin succeeds in getting the wrench, but almost immediately afterward the Neighbor catches him. After that, Quentin’s fate is unknown.

It’s a short, but effective trailer, and it sets up the cat and mouse stealth gameplay that’ll be integral to Hello Neighbor 2’s overall experience nicely. Those looking forward to the game will want to check out the full trailer for themselves down below.

Here’s what we know about one of those three vampires, the tormented young woman Leysha:

New Dying Light 2 Video Sets the Scene for the Story

2 years 11 months ago

Dying Light 2 has received a new video, and it acts as a scene-setter for the game’s tragic backstory and main plot.

Streamed during the E3 2021 PC Gaming Showcase held on June 13, the video sees the game’s creative director Piotr Szymanek dig into the lore surrounding the game and the backstory of its protagonist. Namely, he offers insight into why the protagonist is willing to venture into the zombie-infested streets of the world when others would consider it a suicide mission.

Things kick off with a primer on the state of the world in Dying Light 2. Following the outbreak in the city from the first game, a chemical weapon strike was used in an attempt to deal with the infected. This proved to be a mistake, as the land is now poisoned and a new form of infected have fully taken over the lowest level of the city. This has forced the survivors to live on the rooftops of buildings in new, makeshift communities.

Some survivors, however, still venture into the lower streets. Enter Aiden, the protagonist of the game. Having discovered that his long-lost sister Mia may be in the city, he has come to try and find her, and will go to any lengths to track her down. To that end, he’s willing to journey through the lower streets to figure out where Mia is, where she’s been for so many years, and how his own past played into her disappearance.

It’s a substantial lore dump, but also a good crash course for those who plan on playing Dying Light 2 later this year. The video can be viewed in its entirety down below.

Back 4 Blood Dev On PVP, Microtransactions, and Beta

2 years 11 months ago

Click to watch embedded media

When I first got my hands on Back 4 Blood back in 2020, it became instantly clear from the closed-alpha that the developers behind the original Left 4 Dead hadn't lost their touch. The new co-op zombie shooter hit many of the highs of the Valve-published title while adding a new layer of strategy through its intriguing card system and intuitive enemy AI Director. But while the L4D like experience seemed to be coming together, it wasn't clear what the full package was going to be ahead of its October 12 release date.

The picture has become much clearer after developer Turtle Rock Studios' showcase of its new zombie-slayer, giving fans a look at the new Swarm PvEvP mode. Teams of four will square off against one another with one team compiled of the human cleaners versus the player-controlled undead ridden.

To found out more, we went right to the source. Join Liana and Stadnik as they sit down with Matt O'Driscoll, the lead producer at Turtle Rock Studios! We discuss some of the big talking points surrounding the game, including the team's approach to the newly-announced versus mode, whether or not players will have to pay for cards and characters, and how fans will be able to participate in Back 4 Blood's beta, dropping on August 5, 2021.

Life Is Strange: True Colours trailer shows empathy superpowers in action

2 years 11 months ago

Normally, when I watch shows or play games with superheroes in, I always end up thinking about how cool it'd be to have their powers, but I don't get that with Life Is Strange. In the latest trailer for Life Is Strange: True Colours, we see new character Alex Chen putting her empathy abilities to the test. She can feel other people's emotions, which must be so mentally taxing! Albeit, useful in Life Is Strange's angsty teen stories.

Here's a first look at Team Ninja's Final Fantasy spin-off Stranger of Paradise

2 years 11 months ago

Back in May, rumours began circulating that Square Enix was collaborating with Nioh developer Team Ninja on an action-focussed Final Fantasy spin-off titled Final Fantasy Origin. Well, it turns out those rumours weren't far off at all! Square has now officially unveiled Team Ninja's action-RPG Final Fantasy spin-off, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins.

Stranger of Paradise follows a band of adventurers who, as the trailer repeatedly reminds us, want to kill chaos. Or at least stab it in the face a few times until its head pops off. "Jack and his allies, Ash and Jed, burn with resolve to defeat Chaos as they throw open the gates to the Chaos Shrine," Square elaborates in its announcement, "Yet doubts remain-are they truly the Warriors of Light the prophecy foretold?".

May's rumours suggested the game would slot into the action sub-genre occupied by the likes of Team Ninja's Nioh games and From Software's Souls series, albeit with a more accessible focus, and today's reveal appears to support that. Square is promising "exhilarating, action-packed battles" against iconic Final Fantasy monsters in a "world of dark fantasy".

The trailer was presented as the finale to the Square Enix E3 show had plenty of in-game footage. Stranger of Paradise Revealed During Square Enix Presents Summer Showcase

2 years 11 months ago

Today, during the Square Enix Presents Summer Showcase, a new game based in the Final Fantasy universe was revealed with the title Stranger in Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. As the trailer puts it, the title is, “A bold new vision for Final Fantasy.”

Throughout the trailer, we see a team of four warriors fighting enemies on their way to the top of a castle. Most of the attacks they use are just done with their swords, but a few times they get hands-on and throw some recognizable Final Fantasy enemies around the stone corridors.

It’s currently unclear if this will purely be an action game or if it’ll still maintain some RPG aspects of the mainline Final Fantasy games.

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in 2022. If you own a PS5, then you’ll get to check out this new title sooner than anyone else. It’s not exactly clear when this is happening, but a demo will be available on PS5 sometime soon.
