An Earthquake Has Delayed This Week’s Attack on Titan Simulcast

3 years 2 months ago

The simulcast of the latest episode of Attack on Titan, episode 73, has been delayed following a magnitude 4.6 earthquake that occurred in Wakayama prefecture of Japan earlier today.

Funimation and Crunchyroll both confirmed the delay via social media, stating the episode will not air anywhere else until its airtime in Japan finishes.

Attack on Titan normally begins its full simulcast at 3:45 EDT on Sunday. Approximately 19.5 minutes of the episode was actually broadcasted, but the simulcast cut off due to the event.

Titled “Savagery,” this episode of Attack on Titan carries over the fallout from the events of the last episode. It also focuses on what Levi and Zeke are doing in the forest.

Pyra is sculpted in 1/7 scale by Akimofu, while Mythra is sculpted by Wotaku Mito (knead).

Throw down in Nintendo's own lost classic, Joy Mecha Fight

3 years 2 months ago

In 1991, Street Fighter II radically altered the video game landscape. It opened a portal through which all sorts of pretenders started flowing out. Some of them were good! Most of them were bad. The one I present to you this Famicom Friday has mostly been forgotten.

That’s right, Famicom. And not Super Famicom, either. This one was entirely 8-Bit and was a pretty incredible effort to replicate the 1v1 experience on the aging console. By 1993, most arcade kids were arguing about whether Mortal Kombat’s blood and fatalities were better than Street Fighter II’s actually good gameplay, but on the Famicom, you were hard-pressed to find anything close.

Crossplay and cross-generational-play are on the way for Watch Dogs Legion Online Modes

3 years 2 months ago

Ubisoft has confirmed that crossplay and cross-generation-play is on the way to Watch Dogs Legion's Online Modes.

While there's no firm schedule for release just yet, the official Watch Dogs Twitter account has recently begun responding to requests for the feature by stating that "the development team is working on adding this feature to the game with a later update".

"While crossplay and cross-generation-play is currently not available for the Watch Dogs: Legion Online Mode, the development team is working on adding this feature to the game with a later update," a Ubisoft representative said in just one of several tweets made by the official social media account over the last few days.

Wombo Users Are Making Video Game Characters Sing, And It's Scary

3 years 2 months ago

The new AI-powered lip sync app Wombo lets you take a picture of basically anyone and have them sing along to a pop song. Historical figures and politicians are popular choices, as all you need is a fairly clear picture, but some users are making video game characters rock out, too. As you might imagine, the results are both hilarious and terrifying.

Wombo doesn't just make the photo subject's mouth move. Instead, the person appears to be actually moving around in their environment, with heads bobbing and shoulders grooving from side to side. As you can see in this example from Destiny in which Zavala sings Rick Astley's classic "Never Gonna Give You Up," the results are terrifying.

Yooka-Laylee developer Playtonic got in on the fun with its own video, having the character Vendi belt out "I Will Survive."

Looks like Outriders is coming to Xbox Game Pass

Xbox is teasing Outriders may be coming to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service.

The official social media channels for Xbox Game Pass have never been afraid to drop cheeky hints and teases on their feeds, and the latest seems to imply that Square Enix's upcoming co-op RPG might be available to play for free as part of its subscription game library.

While the tease stops short of definitively confirming the news, it shared a screenshot of a faux email from "Melissa McGamepass" that asks if "anyone else has noticed a mysterious signal appearing in the distance lately".

Respawn is "investigating what happened" after nerfing smoke cover in Apex Legends

3 years 2 months ago

Apex Legends developer Respawn has acknowledged there's a problem with Legends Bangalore and Caustic after a recent patch essentially nerfed the soldiers' smoke abilities.

When Chaos Theory was rolled out, the team made changes to the particle FX count for Legends that obscure the battlefield with smoke, making it easier for players to see through - and, perhaps more importantly, shoot - their enemies.

It's a big issue for Bangalore, Caustic, and Gibraltar in particular, as these characters rely on the cover of smoke to support their teammates.

Minecraft Experts Can Get Paid For Virtual Landscaping Services

3 years 2 months ago

Mark Twain once famously said, “Buy land. They’re not making it anymore.” It held true for a century, but Twain likely didn't imagine something like Minecraft when he said it. You can generate new land with just a few clicks, and one company is convinced that people need experts to help them landscape it, as well.

As spotted by CNN, a UK-based company called Whatshed is looking to hire a team of virtual landscapers who can give players advice on how to “improve their in-game outdoor space.” The company is primarily focused on offering advice on outdoor buildings like sheds and workshops, as well as greenhouses, and with the pandemic keeping so many inside, it’s likely a good portion of players have been diving deep into Minecraft for the first time.

Applicants need to have experience with Minecraft already, though not necessarily with landscaping--they do need to be able to demonstrate a “passion for gardening” and the outdoors. Proficiency with shears is probably not required.

One humorous line in the “responsibilities” section of the listing says that landscapers must provide suggestions that stay within a client’s “budget.” Whether this means real money based on hourly work or Minecoin in the game isn’t clear, but another page also mentions the latter.

If you’re on the other side and want to hire a virtual landscape gardener for your Minecraft world, you can also sign up on the same website. You’ll get an hour-long consultation and will then receive mockup designs and ideas for how to improve your world. This is truly the future.

Review: Gnosia

3 years 2 months ago

It may only be March, but I'd wager the cast of Gnosia is the most infatuating group of eclectic weirdos we'll see in gaming this year.

The 14 characters that make up the passengers of this wayward spaceship are a diverse bunch, with captivating stories to tell and styles that will undoubtedly inspire professional and amateur cosplayers alike. Throughout the game, you'll get to know each one of them, learn their often devastating histories, and figure out their tells for when it comes time to eliminate them.

Because one or more of these passengers is not who they say they are. They may look human, but in reality, they've been replaced by a Gnosia, an alien entity hellbent on the destruction of the human race. If any survive this galactic voyage, humanity is most assuredly doomed. But with no way to easily identify a Gnosia, the only thing you can do is hold a vote for who you think is most likely to be the enemy and hope to God you are right.

Watch Dogs: Legion Will Get Cross-Play And Cross-Gen Support, But Not Yet

3 years 2 months ago

Watch Dogs: Legion launched back in 2020, but it wasn't complete, as online multiplayer was delayed until several months later. Though the game is available with cross-buy support between console generations, it doesn't support cross-play or cross-generation play, but Ubisoft is planning to change this eventually.

The game’s official Twitter account confirmed this when replying to a fan’s request, saying that the development team will be adding it in a later update. It didn’t give a date for when this update will happen and based on the delays we’ve seen for Legion’s online mode already--it was originally set to come out months ago--Ubisoft Toronto is likely working to make sure it runs smoothly before moving on to adding more features.

The previous Watch Dogs games have both included multiplayer modes, as well, and they didn’t try to deliver the exact same experience as the single-player portion but with more people. In the original game, for instance, you could use a separate phone app to attempt to stop a player running around on the ground. It was a novel idea given the phone-hacking interface the series is known for.

Here's how you can play Breath of the Wild from a first-person perspective

3 years 2 months ago

Someone has discovered a glitch that allows players to explore The Lgend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in first-person mode.

While glitches are often, by their very nature, complex things to replicate, this particular exploit discovered by Twitterer Axk_000 is actually pretty easy to reproduce.

You can do it yourself by pulling out the in-game camera, holding an item from the menu, and then cancel the item hold (thanks, Gamespot).
