Team Liquid Reveal Limited Naruto Akatsuki Merch Available Next Week

2 years 6 months ago

Earlier this week, Team Liquid revealed their next clothing collaboration. This new line of clothing will please anime fans, as the eSports team is once again joining forces with Naruto to bring fans some sick Akatsuki merch.

The news came by way of a Tweet in which Team Liquid can be seen wearing the upcoming clothing line alongside known Naruto and anime Youtuber, King Vader. You can check out the video for yourself below.

This isn’t the first time Team Liquid has done a Naruto collaboration, as the two sides worked together back in February to celebrate each franchise 20 year anniversary. It is important to note that almost all of the merchandise from that event sold out within 10 minutes.

Razer Zephyr review: relic of a dark future

2 years 6 months ago

Debuting as 'Project Hazel' at the CES trade show earlier this year, Razer's wearable air purifier and face mask is now a genuine product called the Zephyr that retails for £99. The idea here is to provide a constant supply of air in and out, purified to an N95 standard to help prevent the spread of viruses, while also providing a distinct look complete with RGB lighting. Razer very kindly sent me one of the few units earmarked for the UK press ahead of its full reveal as part of RazerCon 2021, and so I've been testing it for the past few days to see whether it really lives up to the hype.

Looking at the Zephyr, the design here is quite similar to dual-filter half masks used for painting or working in similarly noxious environments, with fans on each cheek drawing air through circular filters, before expelling through another filtered grille at the base of the mask. Medical-grade silicone creates a seal around your nose and mouth, while a pair of straps (one adjustable, one not) go around the back of your head to hold the Zephyr in place.

BloodRayne 1 And 2 Remasters Head To Consoles Next Month

2 years 6 months ago

Last November, Ziggurat Interactive released enhanced remasters of 2000s action games BloodRayne 1 and 2 on PC. One year later, and those ports are finally making their way to consoles.

Both games, dubbed BloodRayne: ReVamped and BloodRayne 2: ReVamped, don’t remake the games from the ground up. Rather, they’re polished-up versions of the cult favorite titles made to run on modern hardware. While they retain the same visuals, each title supports 4K resolution (up to 3840x2160), features upscaled cinematics along with improved lighting and effects such as reflections and fog. While the gameplay remains unchanged, ReVamped is more for fans looking to enjoy the games as they remember them without having to plug in an old console to enjoy them.

BloodRayne: ReVamped

The ReVamped games launch November 18 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch. It’s a digital release, but Limited Run Games will release limited physical editions of the PS4 and Switch versions. There's no word on the price, but the PC versions, dubbed the Terminal Cuts, run for $14.99 each so I would expect the same for ReVamped.

Intriguing Dystopian Adventure Game, Backbone, Confirmed For PlayStation & Xbox Launch Next Week

2 years 6 months ago

Ever wanted to be a raccoon detective? Well, you’re not the only one! Yes, indie outfit Eggnut is bringing its intriguing-looking post-noir detective title, Backbone, to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on Oct. 28.

Accompanying the announcement of the game’s console release date, the Canadian developer dropped a new video shedding light on what to expect when the game launches next week. Feel free to check out the new footage down below:

Of course, while the 2D pixel-art is beautiful and the gritty noir tone is spot on, what really catches one’s eye is the anthropomorphic critters that feature heavily in Backbone. From gangster badgers to sword-wielding squirrels, it’s fair to say that Backbone oozes style from every pore.

Interestingly, however, it’s the mystery narrative at the heart of the tale that is apparently one of the game’s strongest qualities. Indeed, if you’re hoping for a relaxingly cutesy adventure you may be left disappointed as the title boasts a bleak story that deals with systemic racism, violence, drug abuse and sexism. In other words, this isn’t a release for the faint of heart.

Mass Effect 3 Dev Explains Original Ending Plans, and Why They May Have Used Those Controversial Colours

2 years 6 months ago

While the Mass Effect Trilogy remains one of the most beloved trilogies in all of gaming, the ending of Mass Effect 3 is still as divisive today as it was in 2012. Now, certain members of the development team at BioWare have spoken up and shared a bit about what the original ending plans were and why they may have used those controversial color choices.

These developers who worked on Mass Effect 3 were part of a People Make Games video titled 'The Inside Story of Mass Effect 3's Endings, Finally Told,' and they were very open about not only the game's actual ending and what could have been, but also the reception to it finally being out in the wild.

SPOILERS AHEAD for Mass Effect 3.

When people talk about the endings of Mass Effect 3, they usually always bring up that they were more or less boiled down to three choices - represented by the colors blue, red and green - that were all very similar to each other and didn't quite factor in the player's choices as was expected.

According to ex-BioWare Montreal animation director Dave Wilkinson, these color choices were used early on to help him differentiate between his work on the multiple endings and he didn't think they would actually make it into the game.

Two New Sizes For Xbox Series X/S Expansion Cards Coming Soon

2 years 6 months ago

If you’re worried about filling up your Xbox Series X or S internal drive and want to add some more high-speed storage to the console, you’ll have two new options coming in the next two months.

Seagate is currently the only brand in town selling the hardware for drives that fit the proprietary Storage Expansion Card slot on Microsoft’s newest consoles. Announced on Xbox Wire today, Seagate will be selling two new Expansion Card sizes: 512GB for $139.99 and 2TB for $399.99. These will be joining the 1TB drive released alongside the Xbox Series consoles last fall that currently retails at $219.99.

Those looking to expand your storage for Xbox One or older games can do just fine with a standard USB external drive, but if you want more space for new-gen games, you’ll have to rely on these storage cards that plug into a particular slot on the Series consoles. The reasoning is all about how fast games need to process information to provide faster loading speeds and higher-quality graphics and textures. The Expansion Card slot, along with the specially built storage cards, is designed to allow games to play like they’re installed on the internal SSD.

Dwarf Fortress Steam edition video demonstrates convenience of seeing what's happening

Bethesda Teases New Doom Eternal Horde Mode In Biggest Free Update Yet, Out Next Week

2 years 6 months ago

Bethesda Softworks and iD Software have released a teaser trailer for its upcoming arcade-style Horde Mode in Doom Eternal.

The new Horde Mode will hit the game in the upcoming 6.66 Update (nice work, Bethesda) that hits the game on October 26. Bethesda says this update is Doom Eternal’s biggest free update yet.

Click here to watch embedded media

“Doom Eternal’s Update 6.66 arrives 10/26,” Bethesda writes in the teaser trailer’s description. “Our biggest free update yet will include the all-new arcade-style Horde Mode, Battlemode 2.0 with a new arena and streak-based rewards, two new Master Levels, and more.”

Not much else was said about the update, although Bethesda will be streaming the new Horde Mode tonight for fans that want an early look at it.

In the teaser trailer, we see Doom Guy preparing for an onslaught from, err, a horde of enemies to defeat. There’s a brief glimpse at the end of what to expect in the arcade mode, too. We Doom Slayer pick up a 4x pickup, which activates a Gold Score Multiplier. We also see a score tracker in the upper right-hand corner beside a wave tracker that lets players know what wave of enemies they’re on in Horde Mode.

Skyrim will add aquariums in its Anniversary Edition

Skyrim: Anniversary Edition comes out next month, and it's quickly becoming the fishiest version of the RPG yet. Bethesda have announced it will let you add aquariums to your Skyrim homes. We already know this edition will let us go fishing too, so I'm hoping we'll be able to yank those suckers straight out of the sea to put on display in our homes. Can't believe I'm going to buy yet another version of Skyrim just to have pet fish.

Battlefield 2042 Trailer Introduces The Specialists

2 years 6 months ago

Today Electronic Arts released a new trailer of its upcoming first-person shooter Battlefield 2042.

The trailer introduces five new specialists that will be included in the game, showcasing how they look and the way they play.

You can watch it below.

The developer also posted a blog post featuring reactions from the beta and plans to address them. You can check out the full thing here.

“Today we are happy to reveal the final five Specialists for Battlefield 2042 at launch, bringing the total to 10.

Armed with a unique Specialty and Trait, we see Specialists as the next evolution of the classic Battlefield class system that will not only enable individual players to have a bigger impact, it will elevate teams that cooperate to newer heights.

During the Open Beta we heard some feedback that Specialists were limiting team work, and we wanted to address this concern head-on.

There were multiple factors in play during the Open Beta that we feel contributed to the perception of how the Specialists role contributes to squad play in Battlefield 2042.

How To Build An Empire With Saints Row's Criminal Ventures

2 years 6 months ago

Saints Row

While the new Saints are starting up their core empire, it will be vital for them to extend their reach into various parts of the city, not just for the influence but also for the money that comes with it. Establishing side hustles, or as Volition calls them, Criminal Ventures, around town will be a key activity in the rebooted Saints Row, which will reward players with all kinds of customization and items. These enterprises allow the new Saints to build up various businesses around Santo Ileso. However, while they look somewhat legit to the untrained eye, these supposed side hustles are core fronts to their illicit activities.

Criminal Ventures come in various styles and business types, and each has a unique kind of mission to complete. You’ll initially access Criminal Ventures in the Saints HQ, a huge church the gang has taken over and started to make their own. A planning table inside holds a city map with different plots marked for purchase around Santo Ileso. Here, you’ll decide which Criminal Venture to build out and where.

Our time with the game only had two available ventures to build, with one mission to run on each. The first I tried was Chalupacabra, a food truck façade for convenient drug dealing around town, very much in the vein of Los Pollos Hermanos from Breaking Bad. Its introductory job sent me across town to steal a food truck from a now-rival business to bring back to the newly built retail location to make it our flagship lunch/drug dispensary.

Square Enix Reveals Its Cancelled Survival Horror Tomb Raider Game

2 years 6 months ago

As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations for Tomb Raider, Square Enix has published three new videos featuring an array of details from the cancelled survival horror game Tomb Raider: Ascension.

As shown on YouTube, the three videos focus on different elements of what could have been for Ascension, had the game not been replaced by the franchise's preferred 2013 reboot. In the first clip, the publisher shows off a range of concept art for the game where fans can see its island setting as well as a number of characters designs.

"After narrowing in on the concept of a survival story on a remote island," says Square Enix in the video's description on YouTube. "Crystal began developing what was internally called Tomb Raider: Ascension. At one point, Ascension felt closer to a horror game than a Tomb Raider title. Eventually, the concept evolved into the origin story told in the 2013 reboot, keeping the key survival components with a dash of supernatural terror."
