Call Of Duty: Black Ops Actor Speaks Up About His Role Being Recast

3 years 8 months ago

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will bring back many of the series' previous characters, including Alex Mason and Frank Woods--but the parts have been recast. Now, the actor behind Frank Woods in previous Black Ops games has opened up at his disappointment at the recasting.

In a lengthy video, Burns opens up about how it feels to see someone else playing his character. Although he's diplomatic about the new actor (who has not been publicly named), he's also clearly disappointed.

In an excerpt posted to Reddit (and picked up on by Eurogamer), Burns talks about how his previous performances, and his knowledge of the character's backstory, would have informed his performance.

Mary Skelter Finale for PS4 & Nintendo Switch Delayed For The Second Time

3 years 8 months ago

Today Compile Heart announced a delay for the Japanese release of upcoming dungeon-crawling JRPG Mary Skelter Finale.

The former release date was on October 8, 2020, while now the game is scheduled to hit the shelves a month later, on November 5. Luckily, it’s not a giant delay.

The reason for the shift in release date hasn’t been detailed beyond “various circumstances.”

This is the second time Mary Skelter Finale is delayed. It was originally planned for a launch in Japan on August 27, but Compile Heart delayed it back in June.

At the moment, no western release has been announced, so we’ll have to wait and see whether Idea Factory international will announce it down the line. We don’t know whether this delay has affected probable plans for North America and Europe.

It’d also be interesting to see whether it’d lose the PS4 version in the west, as it happened with its predecessor.

For now, you can take a look at the latest video, an older traileranother featuring the opening cutscene, and some gameplay from a while ago.

Vigor Is Coming To PS5/PS4 This Year, And Going Free-To-Play On Switch

3 years 8 months ago

Vigor is coming to PlayStation 4 and 5 later this year. The online shooter, which launched on Switch earlier this year, will also go free-to-play on Nintendo's platform--right now, you can only play with a $20 Founder's Pack purchase.

IGN has revealed, as part of their Gamescom 2020 coverage, that the game will come to the PS4 on November 25, and over the holiday period for PS5 (the system's release date has not been announced yet). For Switch players, you'll be able to play the game without a purchase from September 23.

Vigor is a multiplayer online loot-shooter set in a post-apocalyptic Norway, in which players have to team up to stay alive and overcome the challenges of the environment.

The Switch version released alongside Season 4 of the game; that will have likely ended by the time the PlayStation version of the game drops.

Twelve Minutes: James McAvoy And Daisy Ridley Explain The Game's Looping Script

3 years 8 months ago

Twelve Minutes, the upcoming adventure game from Annapurna Interactive set inside a time loop that players experience repeatedly, has some major Hollywood stars in it--James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe. Now, in a new behind-the-scenes video, McAvoy, Ridley, and creative director Luis Antonio have talked more about what to expect from the game.

Antonio says that originally the game was smaller in scope: "It was going to be a short game, and I was doing everything." However, he eventually realized that if he could "go a little further," things could get more interesting, and more options would be available to him. According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Antonio started working on the concept back in 2013.

The video, below, shows that while Ridley and McAvoy recorded together, they did so while separated by a barrier. Dafoe recorded his lines separately in Rome. According to McAvoy, the game is "about the danger of truly examining within," and Ridley says that the game is about how you deal with your own truth and the truth of those around you, saying it will mean "different things for different people."

The Last of Us Part II Animator Explains How the Game’s Realistic Facial Expressions Came to Be

3 years 8 months ago

Recent Naughty Dog games haven’t just been praised for their story; they’ve also been lauded for their photorealistic graphics, from the stunning vistas to the character models themselves. The Last of Us Part II is the latest project from Naughty Dog, and it boasts some of the most realistic facial animations we’ve ever seen in video games.

In a PlayStation Blog post, Ellie’s fixation on a painting in a synagogue is used as the starting example of how incredible the animation is. As the camera angles towards the painting, Ellie has an expression that almost suggests that she’s studying the painting as well, as if she’s contemplating the meaning behind it.

The trick, apparently, lies in player input and a whole array of emotions and expressions that the animators have programmed for the characters.

According to Keith Paciello, the studio animator for The Last of Us Part II:

In the 30-second trailer released for Gamescom, we see Ghostrunner's lightning-fast action and combat on full display. Characters are killed with just one hit, making every battle a test of precision and reflexes. You're capable of dodging bullets, as well, and your impressive parkour moves keep everything moving at a rapid pace.

All of these moves need to be used fully in order to climb the game's Dharma Tower, which is "humanity's last shelter" following an apocalyptic event. In classic cyberpunk fashion, a powerful baddie holding all the cards awaits you. It looks like an extremely fast and fluid take on Dishonored, replacing the supernatural powers for high-tech weapons and style.

Original voice actor behind Frank Woods is "so bummed" he's not reprising his role in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

3 years 8 months ago

If you've watched the reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, you'll have seen fan-favourite character Frank Woods present and correct. But something is certainly off...

It's Woods, alright, but his voice isn't quite right - and that's because the original voice actor behind the character has been replaced. With whom, we're not sure - Activision has yet to make that announcement. But we do know the original voice actor is pretty bummed out about it.

Speaking in a YouTube video where he answered a series of fan questions, an exasperated James C Burns, who has played Frank Woods for over a decade, expressed his frustration.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne's Final Update Adds the Dragon Fatalis

3 years 8 months ago
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne's final, free title update will add Fatalis, a fan-favorite traditional black dragon who has taken over the ruins of Castle Schrade. This final update will arrive on October 1, 2020, and Fatalis will be able to be taken on once players finish the story of Iceborne and complete the Alatreon investigation. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/30/monster-hunter-world-iceborne-fatalis-trailer"] This isn't a simple fight add-on, as it features story content with new characters like the General from the Guild itself and returning faces like the Excitable A-Lister. Once in battle, hunters will be able to take advantage of the Dragonator, cannons, and ballistae to take down this legendary foe who made his first appearance in the original Monster Hunter for PS2 in 2004. When Fatalis is defeated, players will obviously be able to craft weapon and armor from its materials, but it's the Palico Equipment that may be the star of the show.

D4DJ Groovy Mix Pays Homage to Leiji Matsumoto’s Classic Galaxy Express 999 With New Music Video

3 years 8 months ago

Publisher Bushiroad revealed a new music video of its upcoming mobile rhythm game D4DJ Groovy Mix, and this is a special one.

The video, performed by the in-game band Photon Maiden, is a cover of “Ginga Tetsudo 999” by Yukihide Takekawa, which was the classic theme song of The Galaxy Express 999, the 1979 movie adaptation of Leiji Matsumoto’s immortal manga and anime series.

The younger among us may not be familiar with it, but The Galaxy Express 999 is one of the most relevant anime of that period in and outside of Japan, especially in Europe, where it aired on TV in several countries.

It’s set in the same universe as the perhaps more well-known Space Pirate Captain Harlock and it basically forged the childhood of many among my generation.

You can check out the video below.

D4DJ Groovy Mix will release in Japan on October 25 for iOS and Android.

That being said, English-speaking fans need not worry, as we already know that the game is also coming to the west, even if we’re not yet aware of a specific release date.
