Pokemon Go Reveals Remote Raid Battle Details

At the end of March, Niantic shared that it was working on plans to allow Pokemon Go players to participate in raid battles from the comfort of their homes. Today, the details of those plans have been revealed in full.

A new item called Remote Raid Passes will be introduced to the game, which will allow players to access raid battles from gyms that appear on the map or nearby screen.

At first, these Remote Raid Passes will work exactly the same as regular Raid Passes, but eventually, they will be altered to have a reduced attack power compared to players battling at the raid location.

Niantic clarified that these types of adjustments will be made over time; in addition, there may be changes to the number of players who can join a battle using a Remote Raid Pass and the ability to invite friends to join in a raid regardless of location.

A Remote Raid Pass bundle will soon appear in the game’s shop and will cost just one coin, and later the passes will be able to be purchased for 100 coins.

In addition to sharing details about remote raid battles, Niantic has also announced other changes to the game that will make it easier to play from home:

12 Mount & Blade 2 Mods You Can’t Live Without

Despite only having been out for a mere number of weeks, you can already modify Mount & Blade 2’s Early Access version in all sorts of fun ways thanks to the Nexus Mods community. So, naturally, we’ve gone ahead and created a shortlist of the 12 must-try mods so far.

Before we jump in, though, a quick disclaimer: Since TaleWorld’s has a big update in the works set to totally rebalance the game, we’ve avoided overhaul mods. Most of what you’ll find here are quality of life improvements and smaller-scale tweaks that we think benefit the overall experience in useful and/or interesting ways.

Further, it’s likely some of these mods are going to either cause you issues or not work at all if you’re attempting to play the game with the latest update beta. Do check the “Posts” section of each mod for the latest information on compatibility.

With all that in mind, let’s dive into our list of 15 Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord mods you can’t live without.

The Pokemon Company has announced that it will be shutting down services for the mobile title, Pokemon Rumble Rush, on July 22, 2020. The latest entry in the Rumble series launched on iOS and Android devices last May as a free-to-play title with microtransactions.

If you login to the mobile game, you will be greeted with an important end of service notification:

Although the mobile game is coming to an end pretty soon, The Pokemon Company still has some special events planned for fans.

Fortnite’s 12.40 Update Transforms The Shark Into a Prison, Mysterious Hatches Now Glowing

Epic Games has released the latest patch (12.40) for Fortnite, completely transforming one of this season’s new named locations, as well as adding some mysterious glowing hatches across the map.

The Fortnite 12.40 update only went live earlier this morning, with a number of new cosmetics being added for the weeks that follow, but aren’t live just yet.

However, one of the most significant changes to Fortnite’s map comes in the transformation of The Shark, the named location in the northwest of the map. Formerly a secret hideout shaped like a shark as the name suggests, it’s now turned into a more traditional prison-looking building, as shown in the tweet from dataminer HappyPower below.

Near to The Shark, there’s also a new smaller building on wooden decking, with a single cell inside. Perhaps this is for a prisoner who requires high-security. Maybe even Midas himself?

Resident Evil 3’s Inferno Difficulty Has Been Beaten With No Damage Taken & No Infinite Ammo

When the Resident Evil 2 remake shipped last year, it only came with three difficulty levels: Assisted, Standard, and Hardcore. This year, Capcom decided to add a little bit more with the Resident Evil 3 remake. After beating the game on Hardcore, you unlock Nightmare, which randomizes item placements and enemy positions. Beat that, and you’ll unlock Inferno mode, which is even more challenging than that.

Inferno mode comes with some pretty severe challenges, including increased enemy numbers and damage taken, not to mention the scarcity of ammo from item pickups and crafting. There are also fewer typewriters lying around, which means that saving your game isn’t that easy either.

YouTuber and Twitch streamer CarcinogenSDA is known for doing challenge runs of the Resident Evil series, as well several other horror games and JRPGs. Over on his YouTube channel, he’s posted a no damage run of Resident Evil 3 with no infinite ammo items.

Artist Turns Banjo-Kazooie Into a Turn-Based RPG

Super Mario RPG on the Super Nintendo back in the day was the first time that Mario and the gang were introduced to a turn-based combat system but another super popular platforming hero has never received the RPG treatment, officially that is.

Enter Jon Davies, an artist that’s worked on titles like Binding of Isaac and Cave Story. He uploaded a short snippet of what it would like if there was a turn-based Banjo-Kazooie game in the same style as Super Mario RPG.

No, this, unfortunately, isn’t an actual game or a work in progress for something much grander but it does give us a good look at what could have been a fantastic idea back in the day when turn-based JRPGs were a hot commodity.

I know that Banjo-Kazooie is owned by Microsoft now but who can we talk to to make this a reality? Phil Spencer, are you watching this? I got your big launch title for the Xbox Series X right here! Forget about Halo Infinite.

Destiny 2 Desperately Needs These Shadowy Rumors to Be True

If you’re at all invested in the Destiny 2 community and its goings-on, you’ll know a lot of people, across all game modes, are not thrilled with Season of the Worthy.

The crown jewel of the season, the super hyped up Trials of Osiris, has major problems with the way that it is dishing out rewards and thus, average to below-average PvPers are spending their time elsewhere each weekend.

The PvE content, the reason most people play, for this season boils down to harder lost sectors, harder nightfalls, a new public event, and a massive bounty grind.

The main gameplay loop this season, the Bunker Upgrades, are neat but are extremely limited as to where they can be utilized. If you could bring the Valkyrie and the Heavy Frame Unit into Nightfalls or even Garden of Salvation for a season, that would have been something worth investing hours into.

But just to do the legendary lost sectors, bunker clears, and the new public event a little faster? Meh. Really the only thing the season has going for it are the creative new PvE builds utilizing the new Warmind Mods.

You can compare Season of the Worthy to any other season in Destiny 2, even the much-maligned Season of the Drifter, and it would feel meager. At least Season of the Drifter added a distinct new PvE event, overhauled Gambit, and had meatier feeling exotic quests.

Just when all seemed pretty dark, a familiar rumor popped up again. It has spread throughout various communities but this video from KackisHD is probably the best summary if you want to get up to speed with great detail.

In a nutshell though, the rumor covers a purported “leak” of the fall expansion this year which is called Collapse. It will be revealed this June and will focus on the invasion of the Darkness leading to a second collapse for humanity and Earth.

Nintendo’s New Button Remapping Feature for Switch Controllers Is a Big Win for Accessibility

Nintendo quietly updated the Switch’s software to version 10.0.0 this week, adding new features like more profile icons and the ability to transfer data via SD cards. And while some people might yawn while reading about these additions, wishing instead for folders and themes, an accessibility feature introduced in the latest version is extraordinarily meaningful to many gamers.

This addition is the ability to remap controller buttons. Simply put, this means you can reassign the button configuration to any custom layout you prefer. For instance, if you prefer the ‘A’ and ‘B’ buttons to be swapped, you can now do so.

Previously, remapping controller buttons on the Switch was limited to individual games. If a particular game didn’t give you the option to reassign buttons, you couldn’t do it. This firmware update adds the ability to remap buttons system-wide, across all games.

Some people might not immediately understand why this is such an important feature, one that should have been included on the Switch from the day the console launched.

The ability to change the button inputs on a controller can be absolutely essential for many people to be able to play games at all. It opens the door for accessibility options on the Switch that quite literally make games playable for many more people.

Improved Loot Options Would Fix a Lot of Warzone’s Problems

It took a couple of weeks for the best tactics to really make themselves known, but now that Warzone has passed the 50 million player mark, Activision has been making changes to try and keep the action fair and balanced, which a bunch of them coming as part of the Season 3 update. However, making one simple alteration would fix a lot of the game’s problems.

A common complaint amongst many Warzone players is that too many squads were getting loadout drops too early in matches, meaning that late stages were turning into less structured versions of standard multiplayer battles with everyone running around with their silenced M4/Kilo or sitting on roofs with their Thermal Scoped AX-50.

Players’ attempts to avoid being seen in thermal scopes only made them want loadout drops even more as getting two allowed you to get two weapons you wanted and the Ghost/Cold Blooded perks, which helped you stay pretty hidden from those scopes and UAVs.

Getting two separate loadout drops to get the perfect arsenal not only turns the late game into boring shootouts that are the same every time, but it also defeats the object of battle royale somewhat.

Ever since the genre’s early days – made popular by Fortnite at its peak – the idea was that you’d run around the map, searching high and low until you found the gear you wanted. Chests could be full of useful items and weapons, giving the iconic jingle or hum a bigger significance than it has in Warzone.

The inclusion of cash and contracts in Call of Duty’s free mode, which are good in their own right, are designed to discourage camping, giving teams something to work on beyond trying to stay safe. However, they’re almost always used as ways to farm cash to get a loadout drop, where the status quo continues.

Aerith’s Voice Actress Tears Up Hearing Her Voice in Final Fantasy VII Remake

When artists finish their work and present it for all the world to see and hear, they feel a sense of accomplishment when their fans praise them on a job well done. For artists like Briana White, the voice actress behind the voice of Aerith in Final Fantasy VII Remake, that sense of accomplishment can make them emotional when they see it and hear it for themselves.

White shared a clip of her Final Fantasy VII Remake livestream to Twitter yesterday of the part where Cloud encounters Aerith (introduced as Flower Peddler for some reason) for the first time. As she pushes Cloud toward Aerith, she becomes welled up with emotion and begins to tear up and eventually laughing the moment Aerith starts speaking to Cloud and gives him the yellow flower.

“I was not prepared for this moment,” White tweeted. “Hearing my voice-over work in the finished product for the first time… Pure magic.”

Pokemon’s Johto Region Wonderfully Recreated in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Pokemon Gold and Silver’s Johto Region that was introduced in Gen 2 is full of iconic locales that are embedded into the minds of Poke-veterans everywhere, such as the bug-catching park, the Lake of Rage that is home to a Shiny Gyrados, and the first route after New Bark Town. And of course, a big-time fan has recreated several moments from the Johto region in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

It’s honestly ridiculous how spot on it all is.

You can watch the video down below! Prepare to have your socks blown off:

Not only do they have an adorable Cyndaquil outfit, but you can see a bunch of sprite-based artwork around the town that’s taken straight out of the classic Game Boy games –there’s even a Snorlax and Sudowoodo!

One of the most impressive parts of the Animal Crossing video for me was the portrayal of Lake of Rage, with a picture of Gyrados inside of it. And the addition of nostalgic Gold and Silver tunes in the background just adds so much to the video.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope Releases This Summer; Is All About Witchcraft

Today Bandai Namco and Supermassive Games took the veil off of the next game in The Dark Pictures Anthology, Little Hope and also while they were at it, released a new trailer detailing the theme of this game.

Little Hope based on the trailer which you can see below, is themed around Witchcraft. The panic of the Salem Witch Trials grips Little Hope tight, and the atrocities lead to repercussions that ripple out into the future.

It appears to take place either during two time periods and/or has some supernatural things going on where people from the 1600s are mixing up somehow with people from the modern day as evidence by the two distinct style of dress.

Man of Medan was the most recent, and the first game in the The Dark Pictures series which itself is a follow up of sorts to Until Dawn.

Until Dawn was more of a feature length game which took around ten hours to complete and had many different ways that the game could end as just about any player character could live or die depending on your choices.

Remnant: From the Ashes’ Swamp of Corsus DLC Makes the Game Even More Unpredictable

The brand new DLC for Remnant: From the Ashes launches April 28. Back at Pax East 2020, we got to go hands-on with the new survival mode. This is, however, just one part of the new DLC titled Swamps of Corsus. The survival mode ditches the RPG formula to give you a completely different experience.

Swamps of Corsus’s survival mode is a rogue-like adventure that randomizes every time you play it. My first run through the game, I started out with nothing but a thousand scrap to purchase an item or two before diving in.

At the base camp where you start each run, there are a few obelisks that sell items, armor, and weapons for the player, but scrap is limited, so you won’t be able to buy everything available.

Last Dead or Alive 6 DLC Costumes Released With New Trailer and Screenshots

Today Koei Tecmo released two more “Revival” DLC sets for its fighting game Dead or Alive 6, alongside a trailer.

The release comes with the “School Uniform” set and the “High Society Costumes” and since they are “Revival” costumes, they have been recycled from Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, excluding those for NiCO and Tamaki which are necessarily new.

This doesn’t mean they’re particularly cheap. On top of that, they’re not included in any season pass (the fourth ended last month) and you have to purchase them separately should you want them.

As mentioned by Koei Tecmo at the beginning of last week, these will be the last DLC packages released for the game, even if online gameplay support will continue.

We also get update 1.22, which implements the costumes alongside a few bug fixes and tweaks.

You can check the trailer out below, alongside a ton of screenshots.

Rick May, the Original Voice of Peppy Hare, Passes Away at Age 79

Rick May, who lent his voice to multiple video games including Star Fox 64 and Team Fortress 2, has died at age 79 after contracting Covid-19.

As first announced by Rekindle School, where May taught various classes in voiceover and dialects, he caught the virus while recovering in a nursing home. May suffered a stroke in February, and was in the process of rehabilitation.

His extensive list of roles exceeded 300 across theatre, film and television, but to gamers, he was most famous as the grizzled, quotable Peppy Hare of Star Fox 64.

His frequent command that we should “do a barrel roll” became the calling card of a generation, while also pulling double duty as the villainous Andross.

Though he didn’t reprise either role in subsequent sequels, May went on to appear in Age of Empires II as the narrator and voice of Genghis Khan, the Soldier in Team Fortress 2, and Dr. M in Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, among others.

Rekindle School advises that anyone wishing to pass on condolences to May’s family can do so via their email, as provided in their announcement.

Capcom released a brand new trailer of its popular game Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, showcasing the next update.

Numbered 13.5, the update will bring new content for the fans of the game, including Master Rank Kulve Taroth and Arch-Tempered Namielle.

They both seem angrier than ever, and will most likely pose a large challenge even for the most seasoned hunters.

Of course, both will let you grind the related gear sets, which are also showcased in the trailer. They certainly look rather spiffy and include armor for your Palico best friend.

The update will also include two free pendants and two that will be paid DLC. Speaking of paid DLC, we’ll also be able to purchase four new hairstyles.

The update also got a release date, and it’ll hit all platforms (including Steam, which has finally caught up with PS4 and Xbox One) on April 23.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is available worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since September 6, 2019, while Steam version was released in January.

Nintendo Switch 10.0.0 Firmware Update Adds Profile Icons, Option to Remap Controller Buttons, and More

The Nintendo Switch has received its latest firmware update today, version 10.0.0, which adds a few new notable features to the system.

The first big addition is the ability to remap controller buttons for Joycon and Pro Controllers. Button remapping will also be available on Switch Lite consoles. Up to five custom configurations can be stored for each controller.

This feature is not only helpful for those who may have a preference for certain button mapping, but also for those who need to reassign buttons for accessibility reasons.

The next big change to the latest firmware version is the ability to transfer software data and DLC between the system memory and an SD card. The update notes clarify that this is only for transferring system data, not save data.

Additionally, six new profile icons have been added, and they are all Animal Crossing New Horizons characters. Tom Nook, the Nooklings, and Isabelle, all in their island attire, have been added as icons. Wilbur, CJ, and Flick were also added.

A few minor additions have also been added in this latest version of the firmware. For example, there is now a bookmark feature in the news app, allowing players to bookmark up to 300 news stories for viewing.

Finally, options for displaying and deleting play activity have been moved from Friends Settings to a new section called Play Activity Settings.

To update your Switch to the latest firmware, go to System Settings, scroll to System at the bottom, and select System Update. You can view the entire update notes on Nintendo’s support website.

Final Fantasy XIV Community Marches to Honor Fellow Player Lost to COVID-19

MMORPGs are often a place of escapism from the issues and tragedies of the real world, but at times those tragedies affect even our virtual world, and that’s when communities come together. Final Fantasy XIV is not an exception to that rule.

Last week the community of Square Enix’s popular MMORPG learned that Ferne Le’roy from the Zalera server had lost her fight against COVID-19.

Ferne’s friends in the game decided to organize a march to honor her memory, calling on the community to walk together from the city-state of Ul’dah to the iconic Guardian Tree in Central Shroud.

As it often happens, the message rippled through the community, and the response was overwhelming. Hundreds joined on Saturday in remembering the lost player in a display of community spirit and compassion that can certainly be defined uplifting in such a sorrowful situation.

This is once more a reminder of the value of this kind of community, which can unite people who will likely never meet in real life in conveying some warmth and support to those who need it.

Here at Twinfinite we have several Final Fantasy XIV players, and we join the community in expressing our most heartfelt condolences to Ferne’s family and friends.

Take A Look At Timothée Chalamet In The Upcoming Dune Film

For those eagerly awaiting the newest film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi epic novel Dune, Vanity Fair has thrown you a bone; you can get a first look at Timothée Chalamet’s character, Paul Atreides, on his home planet Caladan.

This film is poised to be huge; this is the first adaptation of the 1965 novel since David Lynch’s adaptation in 1984 (mini-series aside), which wasn’t exactly well recieved.

This newest Dune adaptation is being helmed by Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve, who has already made a name for himself in the sci-fi genre with those two films. The score is also notably being composed by the legendary Hans Zimmer.

The film is set to star Timothée Chalamet (obviously), Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Oscar Isaacs, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, and many more.

The film’s description on IMDb currently states that the film is, “about the son of a noble family entrusted with the protection of the most valuable asset and most vital element in the galaxy.

This image is the first of several exclusive images coming from Vanity Fair; keep an eye out for those if you’re excited about this film.

Dune is currently set for release on December 18, and has not yet been delayed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Whether or not the film will still release in December remains to be seen.
