Netflix’s The Witcher Season 2 Release Date Locked in For December

2 years 10 months ago

The Witcher proved one of Netflix’s most successful shows of all time when it was released back in December of 2019. Its popularity was such that it saw a massive resurgence of interest in the entire franchise, from CD Projekt Red’s beloved video game series to Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels. Little wonder, then, that a second and even third season was greenlit almost straight away.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 firmly put the brakes on the production of the second series, delaying its anticipated 2020 launch to what many have assumed would be this year. Today, after an announcement at WitcherCon, we finally have confirmation that Season 2 of The Witcher will indeed launch in 2021; specifically, on December 17, almost two years to the day after the release of the original.

Today’s Deck of Destiny Panel also included one or two teasers offering us a sneak peek of things to come in Season 2, which we’ve embedded below. One shows Ciri and Lambert training at Kaer Morhen, while the second shows fan-favorite character Jaskier in a snazzy new outfit. He looks a lot more like the Dandelion fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are familiar with now!

Thorfinn Returns With the Announcement of Vinland Saga Season 2

2 years 10 months ago

It’s been a long two years, but the wait is almost over for Vinland Saga fans, as the second season was finally revealed in the form of a recap announcement trailer, which you can see below.

While the video is mostly a recap, it does end with an interesting new visual that sees Thorfinn, Vinland Saga’s protagonist, dropping his father’s dagger after the events of the first season’s finale.

While there isn’t too much information on the upcoming season, it has at least been confirmed that character designer Takahiko Abiru and music composer Yutaka Yamada will be returning. It has yet to be confirmed whether WIT Studio will once again be animating season 2, and a release window hasn’t even been hinted at.

For anyone that hasn’t seen Vinland Saga yet, the anime’s official website provides the following introduction description that’ll help you understand its premise:

Around the end of the millennium, Viking, the mightiest but atrocious men, had been outbreaking in everywhere.
Thorfinn, the son of the greatest warrior, lived his childhood in a battlefield. He was seeking a land of reverie called Vinland.

Only True Fans Can Ace this The Mummy Trivia Quiz

2 years 10 months ago

The Mummy movie franchise was one of the best action movie series we saw in the early late 90s and early 2000s, starring big names like Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. After the third (and weakest) entry in the trilogy, though, the franchise took a break before it got rebooted in 2017 with Tom Cruise in the leading role.

Unfortunately, while that reboot was meant to kickstart a whole new franchise within the Dark Universe, the movie was a flop and that franchise got canceled. That being said, there’s still a lot to love in these movies, even if you’re rewatching or seeing them for the first time today.

If you consider yourself a big fan of the series, it’s time to put that knowledge to the test. Here’s a short trivia quiz to test how well you really know The Mummy movies.

2 years 10 months ago

The first look at upcming momentum-driven, cinematic, action-adventure game Jett: The Far Shore was shown today during the July 2021 PlayStation State of Play.

While Jett: The Far Shore may have similar vibes to something like No Man’s Sky, as the gameplay trailer points out, the game isn’t about combat or resource gathering.

The main character Mei, is merely interested in studying the wildlife of the game’s “mythic ocean planet.” You’ll be able to skip around the world on a rocket-like vehicle, using momentum to get around quickly and efficiently, and then you’ll also spend time on foot trying to gain information about what you come across.

There does appear to be aggressive wildlife, but it’s unclear at the moment how you deal with it.

New Sifu Gameplay Trailer Shows off Aging Mechanic, New Release Window

2 years 10 months ago

Earlier today during the State of Play livestream, Slowclap games showed off a brand-new gameplay trailer for their upcoming third-person kung-fu action game titled Sifu.

In this gameplay trailer, we see the main character start out at the age of 40. And by the end of the video, he has already turned 54-years-old. This is thanks to the aging mechanic in Sifu that helps you become more powerful with each death.

We learned about this gameplay mechanic when Sifu was revealed a few months ago, but it was never truly displayed in action. Each time we saw the main character die in the game, a counter would appear on the screen that displayed their age. Each death would make it go up by one or more.

Sloclap’s community manager, Felix Garczynski, shared more details about how the aging mechanic will work in Sifu in his PlayStation Blog post.

“…players will be able to restart instantly where they died and keep going forward like an unstoppable force of revenge. You cannot age eternally, however; eventually you will become too old and have to start your path again.”

It’s unclear how representative this trailer is of the visuals for the aging mechanic. But it’s at least a clear way to get across the message of how it works in action.

We also see the many different routes that Cole can take on his journey to assassinate his enemies, including being able to put one of them through a meat grinder with the push of a button. Unfortunately for him, the oop once again ends when he is shot by Julianna, but not before she hints that the two have a significant past with one another.

Apex Legends Arenas Getting Ranked Mode in Season 10

2 years 10 months ago

The EA Play Live Spotlight stream has just concluded and it’s been confirmed that a ranked mode is coming to Apex Legends Arenas in Season 10.

Today’s spotlight live stream focused on the future of FPS games, and it was a roundtable discussion between members of the Apex Legends and Battlefield 2042 teams. Apex Legends Game Director Chad Grenier provided the confirmation of the upcoming Arenas ranked mode.

Arenas is a 3v3 mode that was added to the game for Apex Legends Season 9, and it exists outside of the standard battle royale matches. It’s a great way to change up the gameplay and offer another way to play for both newcomers and longtime fans.

Grenier also went on to say that more information on the next season of Apex Legends will be coming at EA Play on July 22. This includes teases surrounding the new Legend that’ll be joining the roster.

All this talk about next season means that Season 9 is coming to a close, and you should complete any outstanding challenges if you haven’t already done so.

Not much else is known about these upcoming Apex updates at this time, but be sure to check back in with us as we get closer to EA PLay. We’ll be providing coverage on all new details as soon as they become available.

Rainbow Six Extraction Trailer Features Operator Lion With Drone That Can See Through Walls

2 years 10 months ago

Earlier today, the Ubisoft YouTube channel just dropped a new trailer featuring the Rainbow Six Extraction operator known as Lion. If you’ve been playing Rainbow Six Siege, then you’ll likely already know all about Lion and his all-seeing drone.

Just like in the past and as this trailer shows, Lion still has his trusty drone, EE-ONE-D, as a part of his arsenal. Activating the drone lets you and your teammates see any moving Archaeans by marking them with a bright red outline. It’s great for spotting enemies in an open area that’s filled with non-solid obstructions like smoke or steam.

But that’s not all. In Rainbow Six Extraction, Lion’s EE-ONE-D even has the ability to track enemy movement through walls so you and your fellow operators can get some sneak attacks in.

For those not familiar with the upcoming game, Rainbow Six Extraction, it’s a tactical hero shooter from developer Ubisoft. If you want to learn more, you can check out the official website, the official Twitter account, or our coverage of past reveals here.

Rainbow Six Extraction is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Luna and PC on September 16 of this year.

Fan Favorite Maps Teased for Battlefield 2042; Tornados Also Explained

2 years 10 months ago

Today, DICE and Ripple Studios sat down to discuss their upcoming title Battlefield 2042, highlighting some of the new features fans should be excited about. Taking place during the EA Play Live 2021 event, hosted by IGN’s Stella Chung, the interview went in-depth regarding gameplay, modes, environments, and plenty more.

One of the most interesting bits of information to come out of the interview came via Ripple Effect Studios General Manager Christian Grass. When asked about some work that hasn’t been revealed yet, he had stated that “one of the components of this experience that we are creating is that we are adding some of the fan-favorite maps back into Battlefield 2042.”

Grass didn’t elaborate as to which maps they would be, stating that fans would just have to wait and see for more updates.

Later on in the interview, DICE General Manager Oskar Gabrielson also elaborated on the addition of tornados in Battlefield 2042, explaining the impact that they will have on the battlefield.

“For some reason we thought: what about a real time tornado to Battlefield? What happens when you then combine it with a wingsuit so that you can propell yourself to the other side of the map?

These tornados help in a grand way when you play. There has been more than a few play tests in which you’re in this really intense situation where you’re pretty screwed and then a lovely tornado sweeps all of the enemies in front of you.

Those kind of really big moments we are introducing as part of Battlefield 2042 is what makes the game special. You need to play on your toes every single second because you never know what mother nature throws at you.”

Latest Sonic Colors Ultimate Trailer Highlights Graphical Changes & New Rival Mode

2 years 10 months ago

Sonic Colors Ultimate continues to march towards its Sept. 7 release date but in the meantime, you can see how it’s coming along in a new trailer released by Sega today.

This new look at the gameplay highlights the HD updates and is quite noticeable over the original Wii’s 480p max resolution, that’s for sure. It’s far more vibrant, the lighting is way better, and it’s just much crisper across the board, looking far more in line with recent entries such as Sonic Forces.

In addition to the HD visual improvements and previously announced features such as Tails Save, and the upcoming Jade Wisps set to make their Colors debut in the Ultimate edition (which you can get a close look at in action in this trailer as well), the trailer also shows off the new Rival Rush mode.

The goal is to go head to head with Metal Sonic in races across the game’s stages in order to unlock rewards and cosmetics that you can use to decorate Sonic and make him look more snazzy while rushing through each stage as fast as he can.

The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki Reveals New and Returning Characters With New Screenshots & Art

2 years 10 months ago

Today Nihon Falcom released new screenshots and details of its upcoming Trails JRPG The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki.

We take a look at three relevant characters who will appear in the game, starting with two returning ones.

Zin Vathek returns from the Trails in the Sky sub-series and Trails of Cold Steel IV. He is now 36 and fights with his armored gauntlet.

He is nicknamed “The Immovable” and he is classified as a “Quasi-S Rank” at the Calvard Bracers Guild.

He is a veteran who helped with the resolution of many cases and took part in the world war two years ago. The facts that led to the ceasefire also sparked his recommendation for S-class, but he decided to turn down the promotion.

His younger sister is in a key position at the CID, while his brother is working for Ouroboros. This has been causing tension among his companions. On the other hand, he has high hopes for Elaine, a promising junior member, and keeps watching over her growth despite her stubborn attitude.

Fie Claussell is also back from the Trails of Cold Steel series. She is now 20 and a B-rank member of the Bracers Guild, fighting with her usual dual gunswords. Her nickname Sylphid is also still a thing.

In the past, she was a Jaeger of the Zephyr corps in Zemuria and she’s blessed with outstanding physical abilities and combat skills.

She has a cool aura, but hides a surprisingly friendly side, often joking around with Elaine, her senior in the Bracers Guild.
