Risk of Rain Returns Review – A Storm of Roguelike Pleasure

5 months 1 week ago

Risk of Rain Returns on PC

As with most things, progress when it comes to a video game series can be clearly demonstrated in several ways. Better gameplay mechanics, an upgrade to the visuals, and a continuation of a story, these are just some avenues in which a sequel can build on previous foundations to theoretically make things better. However, for Risk of Rain Returns, Hopoo Games has gone backwards in a sense, pursuing a remaster of the original game instead of creating a sequel to Risk of Rain 2, and fans can count themselves lucky.

Persona 5 Tactica Review – Stylishly Stealing Hearts

5 months 1 week ago

Persona 5 Tactica on Xbox

Persona 5 Tactica is launching in November on every platform imaginable. This means no player will miss out on this stylish tactical adventure. As a spin-off title, P5T is set after the events of Persona 5. We start in the coffee shop until we are thrust into another dimension by some strange phenomena. Soon the Phantom Thieves must figure out what has happened to the world as they know it. What exactly are these fiendish enemies who seem to be attacking them from all corners? And who is the mysterious Elina?

I came to this game as a newbie with no expectations (high or low) about Persona 5 Tactica. I knew I was in for a treat, however, when a John Milton quote flashed up upon loading. “The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, and a hell of heaven”. Perhaps this is not the basic tactical anime game I thought it would be?

6 Reasons Why GTA 6 Should be a Sequel, Not A Prequel

5 months 1 week ago

There may not be any game more anticipated than Grand Theft Auto VI right now. With 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V being one of the highest-selling games of all time (and seeing a multitude of re-releases), fans are clearly more than ready for the next entry in the series. The long wait has felt even harsher with the recent leak of about 90 videos worth of early gameplay for this new title.

Major questions have obviously been posed about where GTA VI will take the franchise. While some want the franchise to continue pushing in a modern direction to feel more like a “sequel”, others have been more interested in the prospect of returning to past locations and time periods to be more of a “prequel.” Here are six reasons why we feel that Grand Theft Auto VI should push forward and become a sequel, rather than a prequel.

Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Players Engage in Wholesome Ray Gun Moment

5 months 1 week ago

Given that Modern Warfare 3’s zombies mode is always online, players are always bound to meet up with other people during their time in the exclusion zone. While they’ll usually just swing by to revive you if you find yourself downed, sometimes MW3 players might just be feeling a little extra generous.

Reddit user clittlord was playing a match of zombies and found themselves with an extra Speed Cola as a result of their endeavors, and so they figured that someone else in their squad might be better off with it than they were. Once that squad mate found themselves ready to Exfil from the Exclusion Zone, they figured they’d pay back the favor.

Attack on Titan’s Second Ending Credits Hits Much Harder Following the Finale

5 months 1 week ago

Attack on Titan has made a name for itself through the amount of detail that is packed into every scene, and its opening themes and ending credits each season are no exception. This has caused the show to be widely recognized for its masterful foreshadowing, with small hints displaying hugely significant details that would hint at key moments in the story much further down the line.

Now that Attack on Titan has finally wrapped up for good, I found myself revisiting some of my favorite opening and ending credits throughout the series, and I was drawn back to my old favorite ending credits, ED2, otherwise known as Great Escape.

10 Iconic Moments in Mass Effect We Won’t Forget

5 months 1 week ago

The Mass Effect trilogy became BioWare’s sci-fi crown jewel that still holds as powerful a spot in video game pop culture today as it did when Commander Shepard’s story came to a monumentally emotional close back in 2012. It set a new standard for what storytelling could achieve in the science-fiction gaming genre, with a fantastic cast of unique characters from different walks of the universe that all came together perfectly to defeat a terrifying threat unlike any other seen on screen.

It goes without saying that all three games (sorry, not sorry, Andromeda) produced some truly exemplary scenes that players still remember word-for-word to this day. While there honestly are far too many to squeeze into just one list, we carefully picked what we feel are the 10 most iconic moments in Mass Effect that we won’t forget.

Destiny 2 Still Needs to Get Serious About Punishing Rage Quitters

5 months 2 weeks ago

Destiny 2 recently had an update that implemented quitter protection for Trials matches that start with missing players. While we will cover that more in a bit, Bungie still needs to address its PvP quitter issue.

So, in the game’s recent 7.2.5.3 update, quitter protection was implemented for Trials at the start of the match. What this means exactly is that if you have a missing member or two at the start of the match, you will be allowed to quit and matchmake again without incurring the normal penalty for quitting a Trials match. This is fantastic news for all those players who suffered and still do suffer from a connection error named after a particular animal.

Are you like me in which you played Destiny 2 for a few years straight, but take several months off at a time during burnout while you wait for the next expansion? If so, you probably share the opinion that Destiny 2’s seasonal stories are deeply flawed.

If you’ve missed the last season like I did, then this development is going to seem pretty left field. Seriously, how did we get here?

Marvel Snap Devs Revert Mobius’s Nerf After Massive Fan Backlash

5 months 2 weeks ago

Barely a month after his release, Mobius M. Mobius got heavily nerfed, and was completely pushed out of the Marvel Snap meta game. At launch, Mobius was a 2/3 Ongoing card that would prevent your costs from getting increased, and your opponent’s costs from getting reduced. This was a great answer to polarizing cards Wave (which also subsequently got nerfed), but also ended up pushing out archetypes that were already languishing, such as Negative.

The most recent patch nerfed Mobius into a card that would only affect costs for the next turn, which made him basically useless and unplayable. Since then, this has sparked quite a bit of backlash both on Reddit and on Discord, where players expressed their disapproval of Second Dinner’s move to nerf a card that they had actively decided to spend Tokens or Caches on, barely a month after it was released.
