A Starfield Player Built an Outpost With a Whopping 8 Resource Veins

Building outposts in Starfield is an enjoyable and efficient means of allocating an incredible variety of resources that you can put toward other tasks such as research, upgrades, etc. As you have a limited number of beacons to place, knowing the best spots in the galaxy to get the most precious materials is part of the challenge. You have to find a planet or moon with plenty of those resources, and if you can find a practical cross-section area to tap those veins, then you may very well hit a jackpot.

As it turns out, that’s exactly what a Starfield player named ‘antiapathetic’ managed to pull off very recently, probably to the highest degree that the game allows. In a post on Reddit, they shared their undoubtedly very “satisfying” discovery of an outpost locale on Tirna VIII-C that yielded them a whopping eight different resources, literally including every single one the moon has to offer.

10 Unanswered Questions We Have After Completing Starfield

The universe is full of mystery, and while Starfield goes a long way toward answering some of those mysteries, we still came away with just as many questions as we went in with. Of course, given the size of the game and the long legacy of Bethesda hiding secrets that aren’t discovered until years after release, there may be further clues that haven’t yet been uncovered. Alternatively, we might learn some of the answers in Starfield’s expansion packs, such as the upcoming Shattered Space DLC.

But until then, here are 10 unanswered questions we still have after completing Starfield.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Review – So Mi’s Choice

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty on PS5

DLC expansions are tricky to do right nowadays. People expect more and more from these add-ons, especially when they tout themselves as building upon the story and world of their base game. These expectations only climb when said DLC is for a massive hit with a notorious development cycle, as is the case with Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

Fortunately, I can safely say that Phantom Liberty does right by its base game and then some. It expands on what came before it in some narratively interesting ways, and CD Projekt Red managed to stuff even more gameplay options into the mix to an impressive degree of success.

Moonstone Island Review – Cozy Open World Fun With the Best of Everything

Moonstone Island on PC

Moonstone Island has piqued the interest of gamers for making an ambitious attempt to combine the beloved farming and building core aspects of a life-sim game with monster catching and collecting, referred to by many at first glance as a Stardew Valley and old-school Pokemon crossover. I must admit, while I often struggle to maintain interest in life-sim games due to the repetitive gameplay style, I’m a huge fan of monster-taming titles and pixel art in general, so I jumped at the opportunity to explore Moonstone Island – and boy, oh boy, was I impressed.

Right from the second you load into the title screen, you’re met with gorgeous, detailed pixel art and relaxing atmospheric music that sets the tone for the adventure to come. In-game graphics utilize a lovable chibi art style that makes the characters look super cute, friendly, and approachable, and the Spirits (tamable monsters) even more adorable. Furthermore, the world in which you explore is procedurally generated, which means the islands you discover are unique to your playthrough, and no two players will have the same experience.

The Crew Motorfest’s Ghost Cars Blemish the Hawaiian Vibe

There’s a crisis of ghost cars in The Crew Motorfest and it’s really spoiling the mood. Ever reminisce on that one time you vacationed in Honolulu and a ferocious pack of transparent Lamborghinis pummeled down the highway at you head-on? Or that one time soaking in the sun on Halaie Beach as a dozen Porsche RSRs race behind you as if they’re competing in the 24-hour Le Mans? Yeah, me neither, but that’s apparently what Ivory Tower thinks makes for some chill maikaʻi vibes.

F-Zero 99 Was a Better Choice for the Switch Than a Remaster or New Game

Revitalizing classic franchises often treads a fine line between nostalgia and innovation. This is especially challenging when a franchise has gone 19 years without a new game in the series, as is the case with F-Zero.

For nearly two decades, fans of the high-speed racing game F-Zero have been hoping for a series revival in some shape or form. They finally got that last week with F-Zero 99, though it’s not exactly what anyone was expecting. Instead of opting for a conventional remaster or a high-stakes new release, Nintendo revealed what is essentially a mass-multiplayer online version of the SNES version of the game.

Mortal Kombat 1 Review – A Smashing Good Time

Mortal Kombat 1 on PS5

When it comes to fighting game royalty, the Mortal Kombat series surely has to be up there with the likes of Street Fighter and Tekken. After all, it has brought us over three decades of bloody combat, with each new entry finding new ways to surprise and astound. Mortal Kombat 1 is no exception, and could easily make the case for bringing the most significant addition to the formula of vicious combat in a long time. The series may boast a decorated legacy, but this sets the stage for a new era to kick off in the goriest of ways.

That star attraction is the new Kameo mechanic that will spice things up aplenty for the meta of the fighting game. For the very first time ever, players will be able to count on the help of a secondary character during a bout in Mortal Kombat 1, potentially turning the tide and filling in the gaps that the main fighter possesses.

NBA 2K24 Review – Always a Want for More

7 months 1 week ago

NBA 2K24 on PS5

Here we are again, friends and fellow video game enjoyers. Whether you’re more of a casual follower or one who follows basketball religiously, the NBA 2K series has been churning out games for you since 1999. But if NBA 2K23 was a series of steps with most pointing in the right direction, then NBA 2K24 feels like a stagnation of sorts. The level of detail from the previous entry remains and is even expanded on, but only slightly, while microtransactions seem to take on an even bigger role. Your player’s path in MyCareer can be made to feel so much quicker this time around, and yet, still ring hollow. The on-court action aims to be as authentic as ever, but does it risk taking away from the fun?

It’s difficult to truly grade sports video games on any sort of scale given the fact that each of them present the player with so many game modes to sift through. But as has been my adage for the past couple of years now, you will get out of NBA 2K24 what you wish to. If a player-locked MyCareer Mode isn’t for you, then dive into NBA Eras. If you’ve long tired of micro-transactions, then why not choose a path in the WNBA? Oh, you don’t feel like charting a career path at all? Well then you’re in luck, as Mamba Moments — the latest 2K Showcase — lets you play through the highs of Kobe Bryant’s illustrious NBA career.

PokeManiac Monday: The Teal Mask DLC Made Me Hate Pokemon Scarlet/Violet Slightly Less

7 months 1 week ago

In case it wasn’t clear from the title, I want to get one thing out of the way: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are by far the worst mainline games in the series, in my opinion at least.

I’m not even talking about the technical issues — which are representative of a punishing development cycle as opposed to the creative vision — but rather, the gameplay itself. In an arbitrary push for an open world, Paldea sacrificed the integrity of the journey in favor of big, open spaces that amount to very little.

Ranking Starfield’s Romance Companions from Worst to Best

7 months 1 week ago

Romance in Starfield isn’t mandatory, but it does add a little depth and intimacy to the space adventure. The game gives you only four romantic options to choose from which may feel restrictive to some, but it does keep things simple. As you progress with each relationship, you can even keep an eye on what level you have reached so you know how far you have to go before you reach the Commitment stage.

The four options for romance are decent ones too, with each character offering something a bit different. They all have their own backstories, perks, and personalities to get to know as you interact with them, and reward anyone who takes the time to see what lies beneath the surface. With that said though, we think that some are better than others when deciding who you want by your side as you explore the galaxy, and we’ve ranked every Starfield Romance option from worst to best.

PokeManiac Monday: Choosing Bulbasaur is Not a Crime

Among all of the lauded gameplay philosophies found in the Pokemon series, one of its finest is the way in which you dictate your experience right from the jump. By choosing one of the three available starters, you will find some battles easier, and others far more difficult.

People had their preferences based on aesthetics, surely, though for some it was a simple matter of practicality; whereas Charmander would struggle against the earliest Gym Leaders, Bulbasaur was the preferred route for beginners.

Starfield’s Immersive Photo Mode Makes Me Actually Look Forward to Loading Screens

As you travel across the galaxies, you’ll often find yourself snapping a few pictures of the magnificent planets and beloved companions. Well, at least that’s definitely the case for me as I attempt to master the art of photography while still trying to be an elite explorer of the Constellation crew.

To my surprise, the photos I’ve taken (good or bad) aren’t simply tossed into the Photo Gallery to never be seen again but rather put up for display with each passing loading screen. Given that there are plenty of load times for Starfield’s massive universe, this feature could be a lot more tedious through other means, and yet, I actually enjoy seeing all these random photos I’ve collected. It makes the experience much more personal instead of primarily using premade ones.
