Doom Eternal Won't Be True 4K On Stadia After All

4 years 1 month ago

Doom Eternal has been billed as a showpiece for Stadia, but with the launch coming it turns out it won't run at 4K resolution after all. Id Software posted a series of launch details and system specs on its official site, and the Stadia section notes that it will not run in true 4K.

Instead, the site says, it will run at 1800p and be up-sampled to 2160p, matching the Xbox One X version of the game. It will run at 60 FPS and support HDR.

At the GDC 2019 keynote where Google debuted Stadia for the first time, Id Software's Marty Stratton said the game would run at "true 4K" resolution. That promise was touted as proof that you can stream games from the cloud, and Doom's fast-paced gameplay has made it one to watch for Stadia given the potential latency of cloud gaming.

E3 2020 Canceled

4 years 1 month ago

E3 2020 has officially been canceled. The ESA, which is responsible for putting on the annual convention, shared the news today following several reports, including GameSpot's, that such an announcement was imminent. In its place, companies like Xbox and Ubisoft are already making plans to hold digital events, although details and dates are still sparse.

"After careful consultation with our member companies regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry--our fans, our employees, our exhibitors and our longtime E3 partners--we have made the difficult decision to cancel E3 2020, scheduled for June 9-11 in Los Angeles," the ESA said in a statement.

"Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation. We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event for our fans and supporters. But we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today."

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Adds Ring Fit Adventure Characters To The Spirit Board

4 years 1 month ago

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate continues to expand the reach of its Spirit Board, this time with the heroes--and the villain--of Ring Fit Adventure. With Nintendo's fitness RPG flying off shelves, it makes sense to see it represented in Smash Bros. While none of the game's characters are being added as fighters anytime soon, you'll be able to level up their Spirits if you grab them in the next event.

The Spirit Board event "Spirits Fit for a Fight" will run from March 13 to 18, adding three new spirits to the board. Both of the Ring Fit Trainees, Ring, and Dragaux are all pictured--it's not clear if the two Trainees will constitute one spirit, or if one of these three characters will not make the cut.

Here's What's In The Call Of Duty: Warzone Playstation Exclusive DLC Pack

4 years 1 month ago

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players on PlayStation 4 have lucked out today, with Activision releasing a free Combat Pack for Playstation Plus users. This free DLC Pack is for the new battle royale mode, Call of Duty: Warzone, which launched today.

The DLC Pack includes the Yegor Operator Skin 'Trackstar', the Shotgun Blueprint for 'Showstopper', the 'Skilltrack 56' Watch, the 'Covert Operation' Calling Card, a 'Shredded' Weapon Charm, and a 60-Minute Double XP Token.

Most of these are just cosmetic and accessory unlocks that don’t affect the gameplay whatsoever, aside from the 60-minute double XP token. The Operator Skin unlocks the playable Allegiance character Yegor as an option to play as in the new battle royale mode, the first of what seems like many optional character skins to unlock.

Why Warzone Battle Royale Is A Big Move For Call Of Duty And Gaming Overall

4 years 1 month ago

With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's standalone free-to-play spin-off, Warzone, Activision is pushing deeper into the battle royale space, and the impact for the publisher could be massive. Not only that, but if successful, Warzone could potentially have implications for the entire video game industry.

Battle royale is not a fad. It started strong with PUBG, which paved the way for making battle royale games a household name and a viable business category for developers to pursue, and the genre has only grown in size and popularity since. Fortnite built upon that success and elevated the genre to incredible new heights inside of gaming and out. Apex Legends helped the category grow even further with its unique innovations and refined gameplay and gunplay.

For its part, Activision was already in the battle royale business prior to Warzone thanks to Black Ops 4's Blackout mode, but that was just a baby step. Blackout was locked behind the paywall of having to already own Black Ops 4--despite the fact that, it was arguably the game's major selling point. But with Warzone, Activision is opening up Call of Duty for everyone. It's a very big deal because, up until this point, the Call of Duty franchise (on console, at least) relied on the annual $60 releases. Warzone subverts that tried-and-true model with a new take.

Yokai powers are the most significant new addition to combat in Nioh 2. But all of this may be confusing to you early on. After all, Nioh 2 isn't shy about throwing a ton of tutorials your way the moment you begin.

There are three Yokai Shift forms in total--Brute, Feral, and Phantom--and the form you can become depends on the Guardian Spirit you equip.

Buying This Nintendo Switch Game Will Net You Four Other Games For Free

4 years 1 month ago

A new game focused on learning other languages, Trancelation, releases for Switch on March 13. It's an arcade-style title that gamifies the learning process, and publisher Baltoro Games has given early adopters a few incentives to purchase the game.

Nintendo Life is reporting that if you grab the game on Switch before March 16, you'll be able to download an extra four games for free. They're not the most high-profile games on the system, but they'll be yours to keep. The four games up for grabs at Freecell Solitaire Deluxe, Pizza Bar Tycoon, 2048 Battles, and Flowlines VS.

While Trancelation carries an RRP of $10, it will be discounted by 30% at launch, costing $7. So that's $7 for five games--we haven't reviewed any of them, but if you want to bulk out your Switch collection, it could be a good deal.

Call Of Duty: Warzone Dev Teases New DLC That Will Keep You Guessing

4 years 1 month ago

Call of Duty's new battle royale game, Warzone, is out now. As expected, the game's developers--Infinity Ward and Raven Software--plan to support the game for some time to come.

Publisher Activision said in a press release that the developers have a "ton of content plans and live events" to come for Warzone. These new offerings aim to to "keep fans guessing and ready to experience new thrills."

Warzone and Modern Warfare share the same Battle Pass and microtransaction offerings, but it's unclear if Warzone will receive different content and updates in the future separate from Modern Warfare. That would seem likely, but nothing is confirmed at this point.

You Can Drop Solo In Call Of Duty: Warzone, But You Really Shouldn't

4 years 1 month ago

From what I can gather, there are folks out there wishing for a solo or duos mode in the latest free-to-play battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone. Both modes, Warzone and Plunder, are built around three-player squads and can have up to 150 players in each match as of the game's launch. But if you select "Don't Fill" in the Squad Fill option on the bottom left corner of your lobby screen before going into matchmaking, you can drop in solo or with one partner. So while, yes, you can go into matches alone or with one other friend, we wouldn't recommend it.

Be warned, Warzone isn't as fun solo against squads. But I'll let you be the judge of that.

Of course, going solo or as a duo against full squads of three is going to be tougher, because that's how math works--you won't have anyone watching your back or providing extra firepower in combat. But it's also because this isn't just Modern Warfare with more players and on a huge map, there are some fundamental changes to mechanics that make it harder for the lone wolves out there.

I Love How Revenge Fuels Call Of Duty: Warzone's Take On Respawning

4 years 1 month ago

It's the sounds of the prisoners that let you know something isn't right. No matter how hard you struggle, the guards succeed in dragging you into the damp confines of the mysterious prison, where you're thrown into a room with several others. The first person that approaches you greets you with a swift punch to the neck. Thankfully, despite the spray of blood and reddening of your vision, it doesn't really hurt. But you don't have a chance to retaliate because the first blow invited others over and now you're enduring the onslaught of half a dozen fists, not two. There are no words of warning or explanation as to what's happening beyond a message welcoming you to Call of Duty: Warzone's Gulag.

As your beating continues, you manage to sneak a peek at a few other souls staring out through barred windows. Another poor sap is thrown into The Gulag and your tormentors turn to them instead, allowing you a moment of respite to see what the others are looking at. Below you is a short hallway. Pillars are haphazardly placed throughout the space, with small piles of crumbling rubble scattered in between. It only takes a second to identify the structures as cover, the echo of bullets ricocheting off the tile clueing you into their purpose. Two soldiers are having a shootout below--both egged on by the onlookers who are pelting the duo with rocks.

Epic Games Store Adds A Long-Awaited Feature

4 years 1 month ago

The Epic Games Store launched in 2018 with a major lack of features, and while it's still lagging behind other digital storefronts in some ways, it just added a new key feature to improve the store experience: the ability to add games to a wishlist. With so many exclusive games, especially those of small developers, a wishlist makes it easier to bookmark games and come back to them later when you're ready to spend some money.

When looking at a game's page in the Epic Games Store, you'll notice a new heart icon next to the buy button. All you need to do is click that, and the game will be added to your wishlist. For games with multiple editions, you'll need to click the "See Editions" button before choosing which one you'll wishlist. To access and view your wishlist, you'll need to click your account name in the bottom left of the Epic Games launcher and then select "Wishlist."

For now, you can arrange your wishlist with a number of different filters--Alphabetical, Price, On Sale, or Recently Added--or search for a specific game. Thankfully, Epic plans to iterate with things like email notifications when games go on sale, leave Early Access, or become available for pre-orders. Some of the other upcoming features include mod support for games and self-service refunds, while things like gifting, user reviews, and support for additional currencies and payment methods are still planned for future development. You can see the full Epic Games Store roadmap on Trello.

Destiny 2 Seraph Towers And Bunkers Guide: How The New Events Work

4 years 1 month ago

The story of Destiny 2 continues in the Season of the Worthy, and a big part of the thrust of this season is working with the AI Warmind called Rasputin to shoot a big giant spaceship down before it crashes. To do that, you need to upgrade Seraph Bunkers, which are new locations scattered around the solar system, and complete new Seraph Tower public events. It's a confusing process at first (especially because some requirements related to the Seraph Bunkers are currently bugged, according to Bungie), requiring you to earn several new items.

Getting Started

To get going on the story quest that unlocks the Seraph Bunkers, you need to first talk to Zavala to get the quest. Once you have that, head to Mars and talk to Ana Bray to get the next step, which requires you to do some fighting on the planet. Your goal is to generate 20 Orbs of Light and gather eight of them. The best way to do that is to fire up an Escalation Protocol event and equip some Masterworked guns to create orbs.

Once you've done that, you'll earn another mission step. Activate it and follow the path to Rasputin, who will then dispatch you to the EDZ.

Resident Evil 3 Pre-Orders Are Discounted On PS4, Xbox One Right Now

4 years 1 month ago

As the follow-up to last year's amazing Resident Evil 2 remake, Resident Evil 3 is one of our most anticipated games releasing in 2020. The sequel's April 3 release date comes as something of a surprise since it's a little over a year after a predecessor--though apparently Capcom was planning it as early as when it confirmed Resident Evil 2. We're not complaining of course, and if you're looking to pre-order the game, Walmart is offering the game at a discount before it's even out. For a little more about how the game is shaping up before you take the plunge, be sure to read our Resident Evil 3 preview covering our time spent playing the game.

Right now, you can secure a pre-order of Resident Evil 3 for $49.94 at Walmart, down from the usual list price of $60. The deal is available for both PS4 and Xbox One, and we suggest taking advantage of it ASAP in case pre-orders sell out or the discount ends unexpectedly (it's already sold out at Amazon). The retailer is also offering release-day shipping for this purchase, so you'll have it in your hands on April 3.

Call Of Duty: Warzone Vs. Apex Legends: Both Games Treat Teamwork Differently

4 years 1 month ago

If Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout utilized the same formula as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, then the new Warzone battle royale mode is Apex Legends. Both use three-player squads and emphasize the use of communication, loot management, respawning allies, and teamwork. Neither battle royale game is exactly the same, though.

If you and your friends love Apex Legends and you're now eager to jump into Call of Duty: Warzone, you should know you'll have to account for these differences when you play. Generally, Apex Legends does more to prioritize teamwork within combat, while Warzone's mechanics and systems prioritize teamwork outside of it. But, of course, it's a bit more nuanced than that, so let's break these two games down to showcase what we mean.

Contracts

The biggest difference in how the two games (aside from the lack of distinct hero characters and abilities) emphasize teamwork is with contracts--a system that doesn't really exist in Apex Legends. The closest equivalent Apex Legends has to Warzone's contracts are the loot vaults on the map World's Edge.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Photo Mode Shown Off

4 years 1 month ago

One of the big new features in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the NookPhone, a smartphone-like device that Tom Nook gifts you shortly after you move into your new deserted island home. The NookPhone comes loaded with a variety of apps that offer different features, including a camera that lets you take screenshots, and now we have a better look at how this will work.

The official Animal Crossing Twitter account shared some new footage of the NookPhone's camera app in action. This app activates the game's photo mode, allowing you to zoom in and take screenshots to your liking. You can also apply a variety of different filters to the shots, and screens you take will be save directly to your Nintendo Switch's photo album.

That's only one of the many features the NookPhone offers. You'll also use the device to track Nook Miles--points you accrue as you play the game and complete certain tasks, such as picking weeds and learning new crafting recipes. You can use the NookPhone to call another player who lives on your island for a couch co-op session, as well.

Call of Duty: Warzone Guide Offers Tips And Map Details For The New Battle Royale

4 years 1 month ago

As you already know by now, the free-to-play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone is now available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It's based on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, so many of its gameplay mechanics will be familiar for those who have already played that game. But if you're new to the battle royale genre or haven't touched Modern Warfare yet, a free comprehensive strategy guide to Warzone is available courtesy of Infinity Ward and Activision.

The guide includes the ins-and-outs of battle royale and how the genre's common elements work in Warzone, such as parachuting, safe zones, how the deadly gas circle closes in, and general loadout and looting strategies. There are also extensive details about each area of the map and what to expect when dropping into or looting these specific zones. The Contracts system is explained, which acts like a set of side objectives amid the battle royale match, and the Plunder mode is detailed as well. You may also be caught by surprise if you're not aware of how the respawning system works, which pits you in a knife fight with other eliminated players inside a prison. There's a lot more in it that'll help get you prepared; you can access the full Warzone guide here.

My Favorite Part Of Call Of Duty: Warzone Is How Intimate It Can Feel

4 years 1 month ago

The newest battle royale game on the block is Modern Warfare spin-off Call of Duty: Warzone, and it takes inspiration from games like Apex Legends in a variety of ways. However, it also introduces its own wrinkles to the formula, some which impact gameplay directly (like being able to complete "contracts" during the match), others that are more minor visual flourishes (like the names that adorn the map when you're choosing where to drop). While the things in the latter category aren't what's going to make or break the game, they can help to provide it with extra flavor, and so far I'm loving the way all of these new elements come together to ensure 150-player matches still have their intimate moments and stories.

Much like in a standard Call of Duty: Modern Warfare match, the beginning of a Warzone round sees a brief cutscene of sorts to set the stage, as you and your team assemble on a plane before dropping in. The end of a match is bookended by another scene where a helicopter arrives to extract the winning team members, who are able to show off their customization options during some close-up shots on the chopper. It provides a very light narrative wrapper to the whole affair.

Destiny 2's Seraph Bunker Upgrade Requirements Are Bugged: Here Are The Real Ones

4 years 1 month ago

The Season of the Worthy has kicked off in Destiny 2, but it already has a few issues. Bungie has run down a list of known bugs and errors that are present in the new content season, and it looks like the one that might be most confusing to players has to do with the requirements to complete Rasputin's Seraph bunkers.

Bungie detailed the list of issues on Twitter, including the fact that the new Seraph bunkers are listing incorrect requirements to complete them. You'll get to one not long after starting the story quest for the Season of the Worthy by visiting Zavala--the first bunker you visit is located in the EDZ on Earth, but there are several scattered throughout the solar system.

Here are the real requirements to upgrade each of Rasputin's Seraph Bunkers to Tier 1:

Massive Paladins Update Adds New Battle Pass, Balances Changes, And More

Free-to-play shooter Paladins has released a large free update that changes many aspects of the game. Christened Sands of Myth, the patch introduces a new battle pass that is scheduled to end in late May, as well as a bundle of new cosmetic items exclusive to battle pass purchasers.

These new cosmetic items include Death Cards, a customizable image of your character that your slain opponents see, as well as new Avatars and animated loading frames. An entirely revamped victory screen has also been added, which awards accolades to each player based on their performance in the match.

The patch also includes a total rework of the Frog Island map, which adds many more frogs to the island. Additionally, it fixes many bugs and radically rebalances many of the game's heroes. The pass costs 600 Crystals, which translates to about $10.

Dead By Daylight's Newest DLC, Chains Of Hate, Is Out Now

4 years 1 month ago

Dead by Daylight's latest DLC pack, Chains of Hate, is out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The expansion includes a new Killer, another Survivor, and a wild west-themed map.

The new Killer is known as The Deathslinger, an undead bounty hunter who made a career out of revenge before meeting his bloody demise. He comes equipped with The Redeemer, a heavily modified, hybrid rifle that fires a razor-sharp spear affixed to a chain for reeling in Survivors. Those caught by the chain can struggle to break free or use the environment to pressure the chain to break, stunning The Deathslinger in the process. Doing so will also put the Survivor in the injured state with the Deep Wound status effect applied.

In terms of Perks, The Deathslinger can activate Gearhead for a short duration by hitting a Survivor twice with his basic attack. This means that each time a Survivor completes a Good Skill Check while repairing, the generator will be revealed by a yellow aura for as long as it is being repaired. Dead Man's Switch, meanwhile, activates after you become Obsessed with one Survivor. If that Survivor stops repairing a generator before it is fully repaired, this causes The Entity to block the generator until the Dead Man's Switch effect ends. Affected generators are also highlighted by a white aura. And last but not least, Hex: Retribution occurs whenever a Survivor cleanses a Dull Totem, causing them to briefly suffer from the Oblivious status effect. If any Hex Totem is cleansed, including this one, the auras of all Survivors are revealed for a short time.

Persona 5 Royal Thieves Den Mode Has A Card Game, Cutscenes, Music, And More

4 years 1 month ago

Persona 5 Royal comes with a ton of new features and changes. This includes additions to the story like new characters, social scenarios, an expanded narrative, and a new dungeon/palace. Separate from the main game, however, is the mode called Thieves Den, which I got a look at during my P5R hands-on preview.

Thieves Den exists as a sort of museum-like showcase for unlockables including music tracks, cutscenes, and artwork from P5R and the original game. You can also deck out the Thieves Den with decor and assets, from the Metaverse and Velvet Room to Confidants and enemies. You'll also be able to listen to Confidant conversations and even switch character models to roam the Thieves Den. All these rewards have to be unlocked using P Coins you earn from achievements throughout playing P5R or by playing the card game, Tycoon, which is also in the Thieves Den.

The Tycoon card game is probably the most exciting part of the Thieves Den. It's a four-player poker-adjacent game where you play against three fellow Phantom Thieves, who are controlled by AI. The goal is to get rid of all the cards in your hand by placing a card (or poker hand) that's higher than the previous one set down. There are three difficulties to play on, and winning rewards you with P Coins to spend on more unlockables.

Rocket League's March Update Hits Today, Check Out The Changes

4 years 1 month ago

Rocket League is getting a small free update on March 10 across all platforms. The patch will allow users to trade in stacks of Blueprints to get ones of higher rarity, as well as introducing tweaks to the inventory filters system, which should make sorting your accumulated loot just a little easier.

The patch also changes the default settings for newcomers to Rocket League, moving the camera a bit further back and reducing the intensity of the shake for many actions, as well as changing the deadzone values a bit. If you prefer the original settings, don't worry, you can access them via the "Legacy" camera preset.

This is also the final update for the Mac and Linux versions of Rocket League. Copies purchased will work on Windows 7 or newer, provided you download the Windows version, but the Mac and Linux editions of the game will lose the majority of their functionality, including online play. Customers can request a refund through Steam until June 10, 2020. This change comes due to low player-counts on those versions of the game, according to developer Psyonix, but the decision has caused some controversy within the Rocket League community.

Steam Bug Blocking Purchases, Including Destiny 2 Silver On Season Of The Worthy Launch Day

Steam is investigating an issue that's preventing users from making purchases on the storefront. [Update: While Valve hasn't issued any further statement, Bungie says the issue is resolved with Destiny 2 and that Silver and expansions should again be purchasable on Steam.]

One game hit by the issue was Destiny 2. The Bungie Help Twitter account said it is looking into a problem with purchases moments before signal-boosting Steam's purchasing issue notification. That comes just as it kicks off its spring event, Season of the Worthy. Those who have not purchased the season pass may need to buy Silver in order to acquire the seasonal content, and there are also a variety of new Eververse items now available for purchase for Silver.

Rainbow Six Siege's New Season, Operation Void Edge, Is Live

4 years 1 month ago

Suit up, operators, because the first season of Rainbow Six Siege's Year 5 is live. The update adds two new characters to the game, as well as a total revamp of the game's Oregon map, along with many bug fixes and balance changes. It also introduces a new elite set for the character Ash, themed around Tomb Raider.

The first new character is an attacker called Iana, who can create a remote-controlled holographic copy of herself a la Mirage from Apex Legends, albeit with much more control. The second is a defender, Oryx, who can dash forward to knock down opponents and break through walls, though he loses a bit of health every time he breaches with it.

As with all Siege updates, these new characters can be purchased through the Year 5 Pass immediately, or through Renown or R6 credits starting on March 17. The Oregon map rework is completely free to all players.

Final Fantasy 14 Patch 5.21 Adds Ishgardian Restoration Updates

4 years 1 month ago

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.21 gives crafters and gatherers what they want by expanding the Ishgardian Restoration. This update follows the huge 5.2 patch added on February 18, subtitled Echoes of a Fallen Star. The 5.21 update also offers new in-game accessories, like emotes, hairstyles, new dyes, and best of all--parasols.

In the Ishgardian Restoration, new areas are now available to restore, and along with that, new story quests and side quests can be unlocked once a player finishes all the reconstruction works in patch 5.21.

For the crafters, new materials can now be crafted and submitted to the Ishgardian Restoration, and doing so will unlock the Kupo of Fortune. It's basically a lottery game: if you obtain five stamps by delivering items to the Potkin, you can get a Kupo of Fortune card in exchange. Then, you can choose one of the four hexagons on the card to scratch in order to obtain a mystery prize.

Destiny 2 Patch Notes: Season Of The Worthy Update Changes Armor, Exotics

4 years 1 month ago

Destiny 2's Season of the Worthy has arrived, and with it comes a big update that makes a whole bunch of promised changes to the game. Bungie is reintroducing the Trials of Osiris multiplayer mode this weekend, the Power cap has been raised, and we've got some new seasonal activities, and the patch notes detail weapon rebalancing that is sure to affect Destiny 2's overall metagame.

Bungie posted the full patch notes for Update 2.8.0 on its blog, and they're pretty extensive. We got a lot of these details previously--we knew that a bunch of Exotic armors, like One-Eyed Mask and Contraverse Hold, were getting nerfed a bit to make them less dominant in the Crucible. We also knew that Bungie planned to reduce the power of sniper rifles against boss characters, since snipers have become the go-to weapons for dealing with the toughest enemies in raids and other PvE activities.

Call Of Duty: Warzone Patch Notes For Modern Warfare Update

4 years 1 month ago

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has launched its new Warzone mode, as both a patch for the existing game and a standalone download (which is arriving a bit later than the version integrated into Modern Warfare). For Modern Warfare owners, Infinity Ward has released the official patch notes that introduce Warzone, a new shotgun, and more.

Warzone is rolling out in two phases, first for Modern Warfare owners and then for all audiences as a standalaone download. The divide goes beyond timing and into download size as well. The Warzone update itself is a relatively slim 18-22GB, while the full Warzone download for non-MW owners is much larger at 83-101GB.

Warzone takes place on a single map, Verdansk, which consists of several locales for your firefights. A smart tweak to the drop zones lets you see your targeted area without pulling up the map. You can play between two modes, called Battle Royale and Plunder. The first is as you'd expect from a Battle Royale game, as you drop in squads of three to take down other squads, with support for 150 players. Plunder is a race to collect cash by looting and completing Contracts.

PUBG 6.2 Update Comes to Console, Adds Cross-Platform Parties, Team Deathmatch

4 years 1 month ago

The latest free update for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has come to consoles. The 6.2 patch first came to PC in late February, adding an 8-on-8 team deathmatch mode to the game, as well as fixing a bundle of bugs.

On console, in addition to the above, the update adds a much-requested feature in the form of cross-party play. This will allow players on PS4 and Xbox One to form parties regardless of what console they're playing on. Though PUBG has had cross-play for a while now, this will allow Sony and Microsoft devotees to come together under the cause of getting an elusive chicken dinner.

As part of the patch, there will be a second playtest for PUBG's skill-based rating system from March 10 to April 1. It also makes major changes to the way grenades behave, as well as tweaking the distribution of loot.

Call Of Duty: Warzone Makes A Smart Tweak For Its Battle Royale Map

4 years 1 month ago

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's battle royale mode, Warzone, is available now. We've spent a bit of time playing and immediately noticed one very smart thing that Activision has added to its experience. One of the commonalities in battle royale games is popping open the map at the very start to surveying your surroundings and pick a drop point. However, Warzone makes this easier and more intuitive.

When the match begins and the plane is flying over the island, the location names of the various areas are superimposed over them, clearly visible from a birds-eye perspective. This means that, at a glance, you can see where everything is on your flight path and communicate quickly with teammates. It's a really simple touch that goes a long way in improving the player experience. Take a look at a screenshot of how it looks below.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's battle royale feels a bit like Splinter Cell: Conviction here

Warzone takes place on a map called Verdansk, which has been described as "an expansive city with multiple named zones and well over 300 points of interest. There are vehicles available to use on the maps, including cargo trucks, ATVs, and choppers.

Don't Expect All PlayStation Exclusives To Come To PC, Says Sony

4 years 1 month ago

With news that PS4-exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC, and previous news that Death Stranding is making the jump too in June, head of Sony Worldwide Studios Herman Hulst has cautioned fans from assuming all Sony exclusives will follow the same pattern.

In a Q&A posted to the PlayStation Blog, Hulst explains that bringing Sony exclusives to PC allows the company to reach new audiences not possible previously. He, however, stressed that Sony is still focused on dedicated hardware that will support exclusive software.

"I think it’s important that we stay open to new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on," Hulst explained. "And to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC. In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware."
