Call Of Duty: Warzone Hacker Gets Embarrassed By Riot Shield

3 years 11 months ago

Hacking in Call of Duty: Warzone is a widespread problem, but it's wonderful to see cheaters lose. That's exactly what happened when one aimbot-using player got devastated by a friendly neighborhood riot shield.

A video shared on the Warzone subreddit shows a highly ranked player shooting into walls and ceilings, a strategy that usually means a player is using an aimbot. Except this time the hacker was unable to take out another player, who was hiding in the corner of a second story building, crouching behind a riot shield. The hacker tried to get close in order to take him out, but ended up falling to a few bashes from the shield.

"I have noticed this less frequently since IW have introduced more anti cheat software but for three guys to have been cheating long enough to have all the camos and be max rank suggests it still has a long way to go," wrote Reddit user yeetmedaddi, who posted the video after getting killed by the hacker and his three teammates.

Little Hope, The Next Entry In The Dark Pictures Anthology, Has Been Delayed

3 years 11 months ago

The next instalment in The Dark Pictures Anthology, Little Hope, has been delayed and will now launch for Xbox One, PS4, and PC in Fall 2020.

Originally planned for this summer, Little Hope is being pushed backed due to development challenges brought about by the shift to remote work in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Pete Samuels, CEO of developer Supermassive, says more than 200 employees have settled into working remotely, but that the initial change slowed down development enough to make a delay unavoidable.

"We have now been working successfully at home for some time, with the entire team committed to delivering the best possible games," Samuels explained. "With that in mind it rests with me to make the unfortunate announcement that Little Hope will be delayed past the Summer release already announced, now targeting Fall 2020."

CoD: Warzone Adds Secret Nuclear Missile To A Bunker In Season 4

3 years 11 months ago

Players are finding some interesting things within the bunkers of Call of Duty: Warzone. Following the game's new Season 4 update on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, developers Infinity Ward and Raven Software have seemingly added nukes to the battle royale.

The nuke can be found on the official Warzone subreddit, where players discovered it inside Bunker 10. Chatter within the comments section seems to speculate on a number of things, from the return of the much-loved Nuke Town map to the dam exploding and flooding the Warzone location of Verdansk. Some are even suggesting that an announcement of some sort might happen either during or after today's PS5 reveal.

Here's Bunker 10's map location if you want to look for it.

Neither Infinity Ward nor Raven Software has publicly commented on the sudden appearance of this nuclear missile, so it's unclear if they mean or will do anything. It's also worth mentioning that this missile in Bunker 10 isn't the only one, with players uncovering other warheads in Bunker 11. As it stands, Warzone players can only open two of the newly-added bunkers in-game.

New Borderlands 3 Bounty Of Blood DLC Gameplay Revealed

3 years 11 months ago

Borderlands 3's gritty western DLC, Bounty of Blood, is coming out later this month but Gearbox has released new details and gameplay footage.

Bounty of Blood has Vault Hunters travel to a new desert planet, to protect the small town of Vestige from the Devil Riders, a vicious gang. The DLC features all new characters and a new vehicle, the JetBeast.

Bounty of Blood is the game's third DLC, with the first two being Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot and Guns, Love, and Tentacles, the latter of which we criticized for embracing Lovecraftian themes in a problematic way, as it did not unpack the bigotry of the man who created those ideas.

XIII Remake Release Date And New Screens Leaked

3 years 11 months ago

A retailer leak has given a likely release date for the remake of stylish first-person shooter XIII. According to Amazon Spain, it will release for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on November 10.

The Amazon listing (via Nibel on Twitter) also includes a set of new screenshots which show off the cel-shaded style as applied to the new, prettier environments and characters.

The cult classic was first released in 2003, published by Ubisoft. It stars Thirteen, an amnesiac caught in a conspiracy and grappling with the truth after being accused of assassinating the president. We had previously seen concept art, so these screenshots give us a better look at what to expect from it.

Those High PS5 Price Listings On Amazon Were An Error, Of Course

3 years 11 months ago

Both Microsoft and Sony are being coy with the pricing of their next-generation consoles, but recently a handful of Amazon listings seem to have leaked the possibility of a £599.99 (approximately $750) retail price for the PS5 in the UK. The timing was conspicuous, coming just ahead of today's big PS5 reveal event, where fans are hoping the system's price will be announced. According to the retailer, however, those listings on its website weren't accurate.

In a statement to IGN UK, a representative from Amazon UK explained that the listings were simply using dummy values, and that their figures aren't accurate. The listings went live in error too, leading to a flurry or rumors that Sony might be returning to a price point similar to that of the original PS3 at launch.

Speculation is rife around the pricing of both new consoles, with neither Sony nor Microsoft seemingly wanting to be the first to show their hand. The closest we've come is estimating the price of manufacturing, with parts shortages and specialized hardware reportedly pushing the PS5 up to $450 per unit in production. These prices aren't always indicative of retail pricing, since Sony can choose to sell consoles at either a loss or profit.

Borderlands 3 Patch Notes: New Takedown, Major Adjustments To Mayhem Mode

3 years 11 months ago

The next major patch for Borderlands 3 will go live at 3 PM ET / 12 PM PT today, and it brings many changes to Gearbox's looter shooter. In terms of new content, the patch adds a new Takedown--raid-esque endgame missions designed for a full team of four top-level players--titled Takedown at the Guardian Breach. It also makes major changes to the way players revive their downed allies. Multiple players can now attempt to revive a teammate at the same time, which brings them back up faster.

The patch also takes aim at the game's Mayhem mode, which was retooled into "Mayhem 2.0" by a recent patch. High-level opponents have had their health and shield pools reduced, and several powerful modifiers have been adjusted so they no longer stack together. However, chests and vending machines still do not support Mayhem-level gear. As part of the Mayhem adjustment, several of the game's most powerful weapons were nerfed, including the sniper rifle Sandhawk, which fired so many particles that it caused the game to chug.

The next DLC for Borderlands 3, Bounty of Blood, releases later this month on June 25. This update was previously delayed in support of Black Lives Matter protests. However, several writers have taken exception to the game's humorous embrace of Lovecraftian themes without unpacking the acute bigotry of the man who birthed those ideas.

Call Of Duty: Warzone Season 4: Everything New In Battle Royale

3 years 11 months ago

Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play battle royale shooter, is introducing some new content for Season 4. New ways to play are coming--including a mode that features only two large-scale teams and a Realism option for a more hardcore experience--along with some additions that will shake up how the game works. Here's everything that has been introduced to Warzone with this new season for all players, even those without the Battle Pass that introduces Captain Price as a playable operator.

Rumble

First up is a new mode. Warzone's new Rumble mode is a 50 v. 50 playlist, and will take place over a reduced section of the map. Victory isn't dependent on your individual or squad success--think of it as Team Deathmatch on a major scale, but with one life each. It's a unique new way to play.

Juggernaut Royale

Another new mode, called Juggernaut Royale, has also been introduced. In this mode, three care packages will be dropped into the map featuring the Juggernaut suit, which is usually a high-value killstreak reward. Grab it for high armor and a minigun, and you'll also no longer take fall damage--in fact, when you fall you'll do damage to nearby opponents. In this mode, if a Juggernaut-suited player is sent to the Gulag, another care package will be dropped onto the map for players to fight over.

Xbox Series X Compatible Game Leaked, And It Stars Spongebob

3 years 11 months ago

With new consoles around the corner, publishers are preparing games for the next generation. That includes some big-budget games like Halo Infinite and Hellblade 2, but also the smaller standard releases you'd expect to see hitting any console. One more was leaked by a retailer, confirming that in the next generation you can still live in a pineapple under the sea.

Nickelodeon Kart Racer 2: Grand Prix was leaked by Target (via Wario64) for PS4 and Xbox One, and it will be playable on Xbox Series X as well. The roster consists of 70 racers, with a few notable faces appearing on the cover including Spongebob Squarepants, Ninja Turtles, Korra, and Ren and Stimpy. It's listed for release on October 6, 2020. The Xbox One box is marked with a small bar under the platform that lists its Series X compatibility.

This will be a sequel to 2018's Nickelodeon Kart Racers, which received generally negative reviews on GameSpot sister site Metacritic. The consensus appears to be that it was just a relatively bland kart racer when there are better options to choose from.

CoD: Modern Warfare Update On Xbox One Is 84.4GB, But It Might Be A Bug [Update]

3 years 11 months ago

Update: Following reports of the massive 84.4GB update that is only being served to Xbox One players, Activision have stated the the file size is a bug and is currently being investigated. Another GameSpot staff member was only presented with a 33.01GB update on Xbox One, indicating that a fix might already be live. Original story follows.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Season 4 update is live, and it's a big one. Some players who are loading the game up now on Xbox One are being prompted to download an 84.8GB update--much, much bigger than most full games.

Infinity Ward warned us that the file size would be big, but this is beyond what we imagined. We've seen suggestions on Twitter that the PS4 update is smaller at 32GB, although I'm unable to verify, having deleted the game off my own system to save space.

Call Of Duty: Warzone Adds 50v50 Rumble Mode In Season 4

3 years 11 months ago

Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play battle royale game, is adding a new mode with the Season 4 update. The new mode is called "Warzone Rumble" and it'll be added with the newest playlist refresh across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Warzone Rumble features two teams of 50 players, and the action takes place on "various areas" on the Verdansk map. The wording in the patch notes sounds like it won't be the full map. Additionally, players can select their own custom loadouts, while there will be "quick respawns," Infinity Ward said.

Additionally, Infinity Ward rolled out a playlist update a short time after Rumble went live that increased the score limit to 400. This update also temporarily disabled the popular Gun Game mode in order to fix a bug.

Call Of Duty: Warzone Adds New In-Game Events, Including Jailbreak

3 years 11 months ago

The much-anticipated Season 4 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone is finally out now, and one of the biggest new features are new in-game events for Warzone.

These can happen at any point without notice. The first of the modes is called Jailbreak, and it sets free everyone who was waiting in the Gulag and everyone who was still spectating. "You will get a one-minute notice before a Jailbreak event happens to find additional armor or secure a weapon for your returning teammates. Jailbreak events can occur any time during the middle game of a Battle Royale match, so it may be worth it to spectate, just in case. Be mindful that when a Jailbreak occurs, it’s not just your teammates that are coming back, but tons of additional enemies," Infinity Ward said in the official patch notes.

The second new in-match event is called Fire Sale. Like its name suggests, this discounts every item in the Buy Station by 80 percent, or gives them away completely free. The Fire Sales only run for 1 minute, so players will likely rush to the Buy Stations, creating a deadly showdown between squads.

Amazon MMO New World Shares How Crafting Will Work

New World, Amazon's upcoming MMO, has revealed more details about how its crafting system will work. According to a post on the game's official website, crafting will allow players to not only decorate houses but to acquire powerful items.

This information comes hot on the heels of an announcement from Amazon about how character progression will operate in the game's setting of Aeturnum. While New World's release has been delayed to later this year, it looks like other announcements about the title's mechanics are planned for the interim to keep people interested.

Crafting in New World is noted as one of the three essential systems that make up character progression. Crafting in particular will grant players additional resource efficiency over time if they're creating useful consumables. On top of that, players who pick up skills like Weaponsmithing will be able to benefit from the ability to make their own gear.

The Last Of Us 2 Director Says You Might Not Like The Game

If you enjoyed the original Last of Us, you might not like the sequel, writer-director Neil Druckmann says. Speaking to Wired, Druckmann said Naughty Dog has created a divisive game with The Last of Us Part II, and he expects some people to come away with a sour taste in their mouth.

"Some of [the fans of the original game] are not going to like this game, and not like where it goes, and not like what it says or the fate of characters that they love," Druckmann said. "I'd rather have people passionately hate it than just be like, 'Yeah, it was OK.'"

This commentary from Druckmann is nothing new for The Last of Us Part II. Before this, Joel actor Troy Baker said he expects the game to be divisive. He said he hopes the narrative challenges players' expectations of "what the game is, what the world is, who the characters are--everything."

Dechambeau spent much of the off-season hitting the gym and getting absolutely ripped. But his character model seemingly does not reflect this. No Man's Sky Adding Cross-Play Across PS4, Xbox One, And PC

3 years 11 months ago

The impressive improvements to No Man's Sky continue, and the next big feature is a welcome one for those with friends on other platforms. Hello Games has announced plans to add cross-play to the game as part of its next update, due out on June 11.

This update will coincide with the addition of No Man's Sky to the Xbox Game Pass library on Xbox One and PC (where a new Windows 10 version is being released). Hello explained in a blog post that it's been secretly working on cross-play in order to "allow everyone in the community to benefit from the influx of new players that Game Pass brings."

Cross-play support will allow for those on PS4, Xbox One, and PC to play together, a feature that required moving to "an entirely new networking architecture, with more flexibility for the future." As detailed in the patch notes below, when you encounter other players, those who are on the same platform as you will have a platform icon to indicate as much; those on other platforms will be labeled by a controller icon.

Xbox Deals Unlocked 2020: Massive Xbox One Sale Is Live Now

3 years 11 months ago

Even though E3 is canceled, there are still massive game sales running that normally coincide with the annual gaming expo. PlayStation just kicked off its Days of Play sale, and now Microsoft is getting in on the fun with its Xbox Deals Unlocked sale. More than 300 digital games are featured in the sale that runs through June 15. Major retailers including Walmart, Best Buy, and GameStop also have deals on exclusives such as Sea of Thieves, Forza Motorsport 7, and Halo Wars 2.

In addition to games, you can also save on hardware and subscriptions. The limited-edition Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One X console is on sale for $300 (sold out right now), and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions are discounted at all major retailers.

Unlike Days of Play, retailers don't have the exact same deals in the Xbox Deals Unlocked sale. We've included links to the best prices for each game below. Additionally, the Xbox Store has far more games on sale, but some first-party titles are cheaper as physical editions at Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop.
